The hotel, location, and the service were all good. There were some discrepancies in the room. The manager was very kind and he took care of them. The only complaint that I had was the first lady at the front desk who answered the call when I tried to tell her my room was not made completely. She instead of apologizing and solving the issue, she asked me if I requested to have my room cleaned. That was not professional and not acceptable. The beaches were useless. They were dirty and empty.

Gd location, view, gd free breakfast but room furniture wearing out - need urgent replacements. TV only has 1 English Channel - AXN. Movies via scanning the Roomie app doesn’t work. Parking for big cars a big challenge up the multi storey carpark. Front Security staff helpful in securing parking in front of hotel for my MPV.

Picturesque View

The view was amazing. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food market across the road was fantastic with authentic street food. It was only a 5 minute walk to the supermarket. The parking was very good and the location was great for accessing the National Park.

Rooms were outdated with leaks. Only 3 lifts serving 32 storeys, with 1 broken down. Had to wait over 20 minutes for lifts, if I wasnt heabily pregnant I would have just walked down the 15 flights. Everything was slow, though staff were very friendly the service was incredibly slow. The lobby is terribly small and it cannot cooe during the local holidays. Again, nothing against thr staff who were very kind and pleasant. The hotel just isn't it!

Great location/view, but service SUCKS !!

1) I don’t have local Malaysia phone number, so when I checked in early, FrontDesk has no way to contact me when my room is ready (hello, there are technologies that integrate into your CRM that can send text messages to all phone numbers!). So the FrontDesk just told me to come back at 3pm which 3 hours away. 2) I travel by myself and requested a King size bed of a premium suite. They gave me a King size bed with a bunk bed in the living room. And it seems that someone lie on the bunk bed and housekeeping didn’t do anything about it (see pic below). 3) There are 2 colors for the pillowcases. Seems odd for a suite that cost $180 a night (see pic below). 4) Requested late checkout at 4pm cuz my flight is at 8pm. They want to charge RM60 per hour for each additional hour of stay. And tomorrow is a Monday and not a regular holiday that they don’t have nearly half full of a booking. Great ways to keep customer loyalty for someone who’s willing to spend $180 a night. I guess that’ll be the last time I stay with them.

This property is quite a gem for those who are travelling with family and/or young children and need to spend time in the room. For the price, I cannot think of a better hotel I have stayed at. Our suite was very spacious with an incredible ocean view. The air conditioner took some time to get going but, we realize from staying in other hotels, it was for our good because it did not turn the room into an ice box and we were able to sleep very comfortably. The staff was outstanding and commendable for traditional Asian hospitality. They were the strongest asset of the hotel, in this writer's opinion. In addtion, the breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. If one wants to eat out on a whim's notice, the street food in front is clean, popular and, oh so yummy! Highly recommend the Hompton hotel for value, quality and overall excellence.

Nice ocean view from the window, very spacious room with tile floor and high ceiling, good pressure water. Staff are friendly check in and out are quick. Food hawker right across the lane from hotel. Overall pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

Without any compassion or conscience

I had booked this hotel for a week (December 4-13) but to my horror, my young daughter was involved in a fatal car accident on December 7. Thus, I changed my travel plans and booked the first available flight on Singapore Airlines to California for December 9. They did so without a fee on Compassionate grounds. I had to leave the Hompton Hotel 4 days earlier because of this colossal tragedy. The hotel manager, Adrian, has refused to refund the money for the 4 days. Shame on them.

My friend recommended me this property when she visited Penang last month-singing praises on the location & dining that is why I decided to book to celebrate my birthday first time in Penang. :) I reached just in time for check in and when I got to the room there was a birthday cake in the minibar fridge. What a surprise! Room was clean, has a fabulous view of the beach and of course clean sheets. I am definitely impressed! Overall, staff were friendly (especially housekeeping staff) and ready to assist. And I wish the in-room dining hours starts earlier than 11am to accommodate guests who might want to leave hotel earlier for their itinerary or to the airport. Definitely will recommend my friends and family to stay at the Hompton by the beach!

Reasonable, clean and comfortable hotel

Comfortable, clean and practically located near the town end - accessible to bus routes, eateries (behind Viva food court). Some areas are obviously well worn but there is a programme of maintenance. Service is prompt. Any issues are resolved with a smile. Reasonable food and beverage prices. Small pool crowded during weekends and holidays - not sure how clean the pool water is as many people are swimming in the water fully clothed. Very noisy. I avoided using it. There is a narrow beach. Of concern are visible open drainage pipes just draining into the beach so unclear how clean the beach is.

Location is good. Dining plenty of choices around the hotel.

Suitable for travelers who prefer to stay by the beach yet near to town. Clean, new cozy spacious hotel room.. beach is not as clean but acceptable. Overall hotel is warm suitable for short and long stay. Just pillow need improvement. I got a neck twist sleeping for 2 nights.

D wash badin drainage is not good. Need to remove d stopper so tat water can drain off faster. There's a lot of hair on d floor. Need to vacuum

Property was pleasant. staff on front desk and concierge were very helpful. Some of the bar staff I feel are new and have to learning to do. The hotel public spaces are all very well appointed. The rooms were clean but finished to an average standard. I stayed at the Jazz hotel last time in Penang, so was spoiled. Wpid i stay a again yes. There is a great food court right out the front the VIVA

Food court right across the road was fantastic. There was jelly fish in the ocean but still went in for a swim. Bus stop right nearby.

Surprised certain guests were allowed to use the swimming pool fully dressed - think this is very unhygienic. Especially they did not showered before using the pool.

Great relaxing stay

The view from my room was sooo amazing. Full length window with sea view. Comfy and clean. Service staff was super nice. Parking was free and in a safe place but a little hard to go up (narrow) and very limited. Breakfast was not bad. Lotsa variety but was hoping for teh tarik that Msia is known for. nice beach at the back of hotel (linked)

The parking floor is the only cons which turning radius is small and cramp to MPV owner so I decided to park beside the road. Other than that, I actually enjoy the spacious room with minimalist neat design. The room is clean, tidy, and of course, with perfect partial city and seaview from a 4m height floor to ceiling window (it's truly fascinating and you be like imaginating that you are actually owning this room as your dream house). Friendly and helpful staff from check in until check out from the room. Definitely will consider to revisit this hotel on next tour at here.

Overnight at Tg Bungah hotel, Penang

Car parking on site but must travel a few floors. Room was clean & comfortable with attached shower & toilet. Buffet breakfast had good selection but arrangement was in different rooms on same floor. Overall a safe & pleasant overnight stay.

The stay was great except both the room toilets needs some attention...it was mouldy and dirty on the toilet floor...dont feel clean.

The view from the room was awesome and the room was spacious. But 1. Blackout on first night for 40 mins 2. Key lock ran out of battery on 2nd day. Had to wait 10 mins outside door for maintenance to redress. 3. Had to pay 2.50 for bottled water beyond the 2 that they give you daily.

Everything you need for a vacation, near to town

Everything was perfect. You'll get a beach, nice sea view at the cafe and pool area. Family room is spacious with the connecting room conveniently for mid/big size family. But be careful, we spotted a lot of jellyfish along the beach.

Very poor service and experience

Very poor experience. This was my second stay after 2 years, the experience from bad to worst. Poor service, the staff not informative. Water is not cold, staff was not friendly, the most killing part was, lift super super slow. Upon breaking time and check out need to wait for 20min to get the lift, not allow late check out and we stuck for 20 min to wait for the lift!!!!!! The bed sheet has blood stain!!!!!pillow were smelly

Friendly front desk, but horrible housekeeping!

Front desk was friendly and efficient, but housekeeping needs to improve. When we check-in, the shower booth shower gel/shampoo was empty. The next day, room was not made for the entire day when we were out with "housekeeping light" on. And upon return in the evening, room remained the same, and the bin was not emptied. Very very poor housekeeping standard.

When we returned in the evening, the room was not cleaned up and the rubbish bin was not emptied. We called for housekeeping before we went out for dinner, and when we returned, the room was still not cleaned up.

Likes: Very low, affordable room+breakfast rate. Complete buffet breakfast menu. Comfortable bed & room. Good & well trained staff.Access to the beach & walking distance to Tesco Hypermart. Just across the hotel,there is a local foodcourt with a few halal stalls including Thai,Malay/Indonesian & Middle Eastern food. (Plenty of Penang Chinese stalls, of course.) Can "Grab" to airport for MYR30. Taxi is more expensive. Dislikes: Nothing.

Near the hotel have food court, the room facilities were found acceptable.

It's clean and quiet. The beach is good not crowded.

The view is amazing because the hotel is right on the beach, & even if you're not facing the sea, the city view with Penang Hill in the background is fabulous.

Bad insulation for rooms, not good sleep

Lift lobby area too small. Had to queue to get into lift area. Sound insulation of rooms is terrible. Can hear people talking in next room and in the corridor. Most restless sleep at night. Bathroom not properly cleaned. The toilet bowl is dirty. Airconditioning is not powerful enough for a big room. Not a restful sleep. Warm at night. Lobby area looks very cheap with the children playground area right at the front entrance. When kids are playing it is so noisy and rowdy. Best to relocate or get rid of the play area. Sofa and seats in lobby looks cheap and not comfortable. Need an upgrade.

Property was in a great location, room was good though bathroom window needed to be blacked out as let sunlight in early in morning. Breakfast was good with good variety though lacked gluten free foods for people with allergies.

Clean and comfortable, but...

The hotel and room was clean and comfortable. However, on three of my eight nights there, no soap was left in the bathroom. It was only replaced twice when I asked. On one occasion, no bath towels were left, and on another no replacement toilet paper was provided until I asked. I understand the staff were busy over the Christmas period, but these were basic hygiene requirements, The tables and chairs in the restaurant were so close together that it was hard to walk between them, even when no one was seated.

Very disappointing! They just not ready

I was so looking forward for my stay but end up with disappointment. The hotel are quite new, just started i May, hence the staff are lacking of experience. Check in process took ard 20 min that caused a long que, they have total 30th floor but serve with only 3 lift, waiting time took more than 5 mi , especially during breakfast timing, we waited for 20 min after breakfast to get in to the room. The breakfast choices was so disappointing, basically same menu for our 2 days stay. The heater in the room not working. Upon check out took me 30 min to clear for the bill as staff was so so so blur. And they chldnt provide itemise bill even though i booked the room option under pay at the property. The rest of the hotel able to provide so. Im not recommended to the rest.

Breakfast needs improvement. Hot food was cold. Half boiled eggs were cold. Room service- asked for 2 toilet rolls. Staff brought up two toilet rolls, but offered guest one and hide one behind his back...at the end was given two when questioned staff....room should always provide two toilet rolls daily especially it’s so thin and small.

Room was clean, view was exceptional, staff were very friendly and helpful, could go on and on ... Overall stay was fantastic.

Table with the mirror

If possible, please fix a table with the mirror. It was more comfortable to put make-up things in the table otherwise all the things put on toilet washing basin ...

Good service and amenities provided. However, the breakfast place is rather crowded and services to clean up the tables is rather slow...they looks busy but just too many table not clean up..Otherwise things are fine...
