Great location close to downtown
Nice hotel for family
The room.was comfortable. Beds were full size, but we only stayed for 1 night. I'd visit again.
It’s a very dirty place
Very friendly staff
Great experience. Can’t wait to stay here again.
This is a decent place to stay if you need to be close to Austin Heart Hospital. Otherwise, PASS. First impression of this hotel was bad. Very limited parking near the entrance… with an only one row of tightly spaced parking spots in the front. The only space I found in the front was littered with trash/beer cans so I had to park in the very back of the property. The side/rear parking area is poorly lit. I did not find any key card entrances in the back. The adjacent property is a disheveled vacant lot with a “private property sign”. I was not comfortable walking from my car to the front door at night. It The lobby was nice. The staff person at check in was great. The bar area and common areas were inviting. Then I went upstairs and was disappointed again. The front cover of the ice machine was on the floor and the door to my room was ajar. An open door was a first for me and totally freaked me out, but I entered despite my reservations. The sleeping area is nice. It is outdated, but looked like clean with fairly standard hotel accommodations, but very dated….. popcorn ceilings. Then I checked the bathroom. All I can say is….. gross! The door had a huge badly patched hole and small holes on the inside from a doorstop. The robe hanger was broken. The tub had rust in it and a faucet that never stopped dripping. No tub/sink stoppers. Pieces from a bad ceiling patch fell into the tub while I was there and I noticed dark spots that looked like mold. No from me.
great spot. nice and clean.
Excellent
Austin stay
Nice place, rooms were clean, buffet breakfast was good and was reasonably priced. Convient to downtown and other points of interest.
Property is nice, but needs some updating. Carpets throughout elevators and in my room was stained and had high traffic areas. Ceiling paint in bathroom was peeling throughout. Bed was comfortable. Some light fixtures didn't work. Had breakfast in the hotel restaurant both days. Paid $8 per day for breakfast. Both days served the same food, with the exception of mini pancakes one day and French toast the next. Overall, stay was decent for the price paid on Hotels.com Property could use a thorough cleaning and upgrades to details that are common with older hotels.
Armageddon
This is a great hotel to hole up during the rapture.
Exceptional service
The bartender was so friendly and courteous. He handled our food and drink order. He knew alot of the customers by name and had everyone served promptly with a smile on his face even though he was extremely busy. We stayed there for a medical appointment. It was close to the hospital and clinics. The rooms were nice and clean. We will stay there again for sure!
Very comfortable and excellent check in
Average
Ben who checked us in was so rude that ruined the first impression of the hotel. It could have been enjoyable, above average hotel if he was not there. Parking lot was conveniently located and had a couple of patrol vehicles.
Enjoyed my stay
My stay was a quick one but great customer service and the room was very clean and cozy. I enjoyed my stay. If im in the area im definitely going to come back again.
Wonderful staff and stay!
The room was bigger than I expected. The staff was friendly and I liked that there was an officer on sight. The pillows were a little uncomfortable but it’s not the hotels fault, my husband and I are just used to memory foam pillows. I was also presently pleased with the many breakfast options. Overall a wonderful stay! I wish I had more than just one night to enjoy the hotel.
I really enjoyed my stay. Everyone was nice and very helpful. The room was nice and clean, the balcony needed a little repair but nothing major.
Excellent service r
Hidden gem, great quality, great rates
Delightful stay over Christmas, very quiet but excellent time at this amazing property. Large and well maintained hotel, with conference center, convenient to highways, 5-10 min to UT Austin and downtown. Great bar and common sitting areas. Superb breakfast (much cheaper than the usual rip-off prices at other places) in large dining room, which offers full dining menu. Would definitely stay here again.
We would certainly come back.
Just what we needed for a one night get away. Clean comfy and good price.
The building, although dated has been nicely renovated. Carpeting may need a bit of TLC, but staff was great and location worked well for us. Overall we were pleased with our stay!
Good
Great
Bugs!!
Found multiple bugs on nightstand that looked like bed bugs or ticks—let front desk know and she played it off like they were gnats. They were definitely not gnats or flying. She offered me another room, but I decided to get my room cancelled and refunded. I am afraid she didn’t even block off this room to even inspect!
Location was perfect for our visit. Check in was simple. Room had old appearing rug that needed cleaning and bathroom door replacement. No other issues. The breakfast was very good.
The bathroom was a mess
We expected much better room conditions. The room was clean but you can see a lots of scratches on the furnitures. The main door needs to be pushed hardly to close. The bathroom door makes sounds. The fan in the bathroom doesn't work. Rust in many parts of the bathroom. We are very disappointed with the conditions
Well run holiday inn—clean and spacious
I love the clean is everything
It was amazing
The location is good, but the hotel interior is old and smelly.
Hotel is really run down. Wall paper falling off the walls, mold in bathrooms, carpet is nasty. Needs a major renovation and it could be nice again. Not worth the money we spent for sure.
Beautiful surroundings and interior
The staff here!!! Some of the the best people have ever encountered. Everyone I came in contact with was polite, friendly, and helpful!
My stay was good but my food triggered my allergies real bad
I complained 2 times about my toilet constantly making noise with water flushing and nothing was done.
Clean , breakfast was great.
Don’t visit
The hotel is outdated. AC runs loud. We could hear Kids played and cried next door. The room is old with no upgrades and pricey.
Rooms with balconies!
My room was very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping staff was efficient and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was awesome. Loved having a balcony I could go out on and a way to enjoy the fresh air!
The breakfast was over priced.
Great room and clean
N
My hotel room bathroom had dirt and stains on much of the tile floor and the room is covered in dark brown carpet so it’s dingy and dark. I never walk barefoot in hotels but this one concerned me. Furniture was nice and free of stains so they could do a lot by replacing the flooring so it feels cleaner.
Receptionist was great that day I checked in! I didn’t get her name but thank you!
Out extended weekend stay to visit a relative was pleasant with no issues. Hotel was very quiet, clean, and had comfortable beds. We would stay again!
Ez check in/out. Nice property and good breakfast buffet. Lots of free parking. Nice pool area.
Good hotel
The hotel is older. It feels kind of humid. The taxes are not included. Deposit was like 30 bucks. It was confortable the carpets just need to be redone.
First room had AC issues, 2nd room AC leaking water on carpet, stagnant moldy smell. Entire hotel host to numerous unpleasant scents. Towels, cups and washcloths stinted by second day. Rather unclean and crummy.. On the plus side, person who checked us in was cordial and helpful, she was A
The staff was kind and accommodating and check in was easy.
Old and Dirty
This hotel is old and dirty. There is mold around the counter in the bathroom. The carpet was filthy. The cleaners probably did the best that they could but there is just too much build up of dirty to really get it clean. The whole hotel smells musty including in the room. It's in a great location but I wouldn't stay here again.
Price was right - AC was not
We were in town for UT orientation for 2 nights. The hotel was in a convenient location for us. It's an older property. We were on the 7th floor. Room was very clean, just a little dated. Cabinet with mini fridge dragged on the carpet because it was not leveled - just old. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. AC was the problem. Never cooled down. Left early the next morning for campus. Called and asked that maintenance check the AC and if it couldn't be addressed to move us to another room. When we returned late afternoon, it was cooler. As the night wore on, however, it started to get a little warmer. The entire 7th floor was a lot warmer than the lobby area. Again, it's just an older hotel that needs to be updated. The price was right and the staff was friendly. Breakfast is a paid buffet, not included with room.
The staff are very kind and willing to hold any forgotten items after checkout!
Location is great, but hotel itself is really outdated tiny bathroom old furniture, damp smell. Below average breakfast. Loud AC all night. Too pricey for the condition.
This hotel isn’t really midtown but more suburban. The room was good and front desk and breakfast staff were super friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. Walking outside is quite noisy due to proximity to the busy nearby highway but it never bothered inside the hotel.
Nice staycation
Room was nice and clean. Balcony was slightly flooded from rain but still nice to have. Pool area was nice.
The bathroom was very dirty
.
The carpets had a funk to them and felt a bit hot
Things didn't work properly, towels too small & few. View of flat roof with mechanical units from balcony, very unpleasant.
Very old and not kept up hotel. Downstairs looks like it is but the rooms are old, balcony door barely open, the bathrooms very small and shower shades broken, just very bad state!!
Great stay
Great staff, helpful, friendly. Room is spacious
Great location. Rooms were dirty.
Horrible! Our bathroom had rust all over it and the faucet metal was falling off of the spout. The man that checked us in was arrogant. The area is sketchy! Literally had a police officer parked in our parking lot to monitor it. The picture that was advertised online, isn't even the same bathrooms. Wish I could get reimbursed. Tainted my experience with Expedia and Holiday Inn Express.
Outdated, requires many repairs. We arrived, the door-lock was not opening, it required for us to insert card at least 15 times. Toilet was not flushing. Front desk girl provided excellent service and moved us to another room due to several issues. Second room, AC wall thermostat was not working, it was completely off. Had to manually change temperature from AC unit. Lock to balcony was not closing. One of the reading lamps not turning on. Place requires many repairs, staff very helpful.
Needs maintenance
Needs maintenance, noisy ac unit, refrigerator cabinet showed water damage, vending machine area was very run down and over flowing trash can, bathroom vent hanging off. Minimal toiletries. Front desk didn't ask if I wanted receipt. So I forgot get it. Price seems high. I need a receipt to verify if the price was as quoted on hotel.com.
Employees unable to provide receipt and when I questioned it, they were rude about telling me they would email it to me. I still have not got a receipt.
I got rained on while trying to poop.
The night of the stay was quite all right and I have no complaints about it. The problems came in the morning. As a rainstorm carried on outside, I sat down for my morning constitutional. The very second before I was to commence, water began leaking from the fire sprinkler on the ceiling, which was very nearly right over my head. I quickly scurried from the bathroom as water also began rushing through the light fixture on the bathroom ceiling. We tried to call the front desk, but no one answered. We just quickly gathered our belongings and left, informing the front desk clerk on the way out that it was raining in our room.
Nice stay.
Very clean and awesome service!
Room was in bad shape. Carpets dirty, loose faucets, broken light fixtures, tv had a line down the middle. At check in front desk employee Griselda seemed bothered to help. Even family members notice the demeanor. I would not stay here again.
Poor
I felt that there were many issues with this stay. Was not able to use the gym as it was out of service. Renovations happening and seemed like a very outdated older hotel. For the amount of money for this hotel breakfast wasn't even included. We stay at holiday inns all over the country and this is probably one of the lower end hotels we have stayed at.
Clean, friendly, and fun stay
The hotel staff are super courteous, friendly, and considerate. This is the third time I’ve stayed at this hotel and it keeps getting better.
Views
Not too bad, wish we had a better view other than the roof from the second floor😬. But nonetheless it was a nice stay!
Disappointed
One if the reasons I booked a room here was because I wanted a room with a balcony. The balcony was almost useless. Both the curtains and the door were extremely difficult to open and only opened up a little. When we finally opened the balcony door enough to squeeze ourselves out there we found a dirty narrow space with a puddle in the middle.
Gym was being renovated but was able to walk to golds gym across street cause was holiday inn guest liked the restaurant onsite too
The facility is showing its age. The room was comfortable, but... There is a balcony, how quaint. There may have been more scenic vistas when this was built, but the balcony serves no purpose now, except to stick your head out to check on your truck. It was especially blustery when I was there. The wind whipping around the corner had the glass sliding door howling like a haunted house. Next big remodel, I suggest pushing the room out to make it larger, utilizing the balcony for more practical space. And in this day of complimentary breakfast with the obligatory Texas shaped waffles, what's up with the fifteen buck Green Eggs & Ham. It was all very good, but it ain't the Sunday brunch at the Galvez.
Staff was nice and friendly- they made it an easy check in. Room was clean and comfortable!
Our room was not fully stocked. There were no tissues, no ice bucket, no drinking glasses, no coffee pods. A call to the front desk had these items delivered within ten minutes. Otherwise the room was perfectly fine, very neat and clean. Plenty of parking available. Our room was quiet. Neighborhood seemed safe. We found restaurants within easy driving distance.
Not bad.
Quiet area … convenient for my business travel….
Hotel was great, surrounding area was underdeveloped. Abandoned parking lot next door that could be used for over flow parking, which would have been nice.
Great hotel with amazing rooms and friendly staff. Loved the lounge areas great way to spend time with family while we we’re on separate floors. Comfortable beds which led to a great nights rest!
Review
Parking was limited. Door to room would not close automatically. Other than that overall stay was satisfactory.
It worked for us.
Crickets - “it’s that time of the year.”
This is our 5th stay over the last few years at this hotel and 1st this year for a UT football game. It’s cricket season, but I expect them to stay outside. Unfortunately there were several in the room and under the bed chirping all night. I love camping trips, but for a couple hundred dollars a room night, I expect the hotel to keep the rooms pest free. The front desk person wrote it off as “it’s that time of the year.”Well there are still 3-4 UT home games this season, so I guess the hotel isn’t interested in repeat business anymore. With that attitude, I might as well book at a local campground 😬.
The initial room that was assigned to us had many crickets. It was more like a motel than a hotel.
Wasn't very clean. The most annoying thing was the bathroom. The toilet commode is so oddly placed. The A/C doesn't blow cold air. We went there for a chess tournament and so glad it was just an overnight stay.
Cheap & good for one night stays
It was okay! The building definitely needs some fixing but everything worked warm water, comfty beds and pillows if you get the double beds make sure you ask for more towels we only had 2 in our room and 4 people checked in. The pool is small but it wasnt crowded we had it to ourselves, I liked that. The area is also okay wasnt afraid of any breakins. Staff was really nice. I accidentally blew my childs bathing suit on the roof and they were quick about retrieving it. For the price I did not have any high expectations you literally get what you pay for.
A nice hotel by the community college
A hidden gem: really close to the neighborhoods we wanted to explore in Austin, right by a paved bike path (made getting around easy), clean, comfortable, good free coffee, quiet, fairly priced.
I had a nice view from the deck of Downtown Austin. The hotel needs some updating, but overall it was decent. The check in was fast and easy. If you want to go to Downtown Austin it’s easy to get Downtown.
i don't usually leave a comment or review about any trips or facilities, but this time I have to. Our whole family got rashes after staying in the hotel, and obviously, the room we stayed in had been empty for quite a long time, because the light bulbs in 2 of the main lights had been broken, and obviously the staffs had no idea about it until we called the front desk. and the bedlinens looked clean, but we don't know if any dusts were there and if those are properly cleaned/changed frequently, and eventually we figured that caused the rashes on each member of the family. The air conditioner was too noisy, which almost made the night sleep unbearable. The carpet was dirty as well. Holiday Inn was our most favorable hotel chain. But this location definitely broke our trust.
Henry in dining and bar gave terrific service!
Loved the view and balcony. The room was clean and smoke free. Will book again soon. Conveniently located.
Great location for me
Rooms didn’t cool.
Bath tub water leaked all night restroom wasn't cleaned properly.
Very comfortable
Awesome
