We wanted an extra day in Hanoi, so added another day on and this is the perfect hotel in Hanoi.

This is our second time we have stayed at Holiday Emerald Hotel. It is in the old quarter and just a few blocks from Hoan Kiem lake. It is very quiet and comfortable rooms with a good breakfast in the morning. The staff are very friendly. We required 3 rooms and they were all on the same floor which was very handy. Highly recommended for a hotel stay.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the heart of the old quarter. Rooms were clean and the staff were both friendly and helpful.

Jenny the front desk was very helpful. Stayed one night and left in the morning before breakfast, she arrange for a takeaway breakfast. Bathing towel was soft, bed comfortable and the air con temperature was good and clean. The overhead shower control can be improved as it was difficult to get the right temperature.

This place is a hidden gem, an oasis of tranquility in the middle of an action-packed, popular tourist area: old town Hanoi. Walking out the hotel, you ‘re in middle of endless fun, exciting activities. Yet, stepping back through the front door, you’re immediately surrounded with calm energy. The warm, personable demeanor from Ms. Hương and Mr. Trí made me feel like a very welcomed house guest!

Good location. Room is clean and fully supplied with amenities. Jennie checked us in. Very nice and friendly.

This place was perfect for my one night stay in Hanoi before taking the train to SaPa! They greeted me by name and stored my luggage for me all day after I checked out but before my train departed in the late evening. They even let me shower in the evening after a long day of walking around so I would be fresh for the train! Highly recommend!

Heart of everything

This hotel is in the heart of everything. Staff are friendly though i had to wait for some time to be check-ed in. Water pressure is good and they provide bathing foam (not bar soap). Breakfast is decent too. You may request for omelette, vietnamese coffee or hot noodles on top pf the other food provided. Noodles come in both vegetarian and non vegetarian style. There is a place nearby for indian food and several massage places along that stretch. It's also walking distance to the Hanoi Opera House, Sword Lake and Dong Xuan market. (15-20mins)

The staff at holiday emerald hotel were absolutely amazing, they were so kind a welcoming. The hotel itself was nothing amazing but that was reflected in the price as it was very good value. Most importantly though it was kept very clean and they provided all the essentials you need. My favourite thing about my stay was the people who work there, they went above and beyond to help us out. They arranged all the taxis we needed offered great advice and despite us leaving the hotel very early each morning they packed us cute little breakfast boxes for the road. Highly recommended.

Pros: -Friendly and helpful staff -Good breakfast and variety of choices -good size room -hot shower -good location Cons: -Noisy room next to the staircase. Could hear everything from foot steps, elevator noise, general walking noise. Hard to sleep. -back room dark. -need some upgrade especially in the back room and shower.

Superb location ..dead centre of the tourist trap at the old quarter. Highly recommend..I’m from Singapore. Breakfast is great...price of the accomdation is superbly fair. Superb and polite staff at the front desk look like Jim, Max, Alex, Jennie, Hai…. I highly recommend family looking for value and location.

Holiday Emerald was a very nice place to stay. Jenny and her staff was excellent. She help us with airport transportation and calling our tour drivers. Excellent English. The ice coffee at breakfast is better than.any of the coffee shops. Air conditioning in the room worked very well . I would recommend this place to anyone

Amazing

Had a lovely stay here. Overall did 3 nights but was all split up due to trips. Whilst on trips staff would look after my luggage and even put them in my new room for me waiting. Breakfast was really good and quick service. All front staff were helpful. Would recommend

Mrs. Hướng was absolutely a charm and she was able to help us around the area. It’s a great location and is walkable around the main part of the city. She also help us with transportation to the airport. Room are clean and service was great.

At night can hear a lot of noise coming from the other rooms. Some proof not very good.

Great location and perfect for a short stay to explore the old city of Hanoi. Staff was friendly and helpful, arranged an airport taxi and pointed out places to visit within walking distance during my short stay. Price was good.

The people who run the place are very attentive and accommodating! The breakfast is limited in terms of options but very good. The location is great in terms of being walking distance to all the major sights but it does get pretty loud starting around 7AM, however that's probably anywhere in old Hanoi because it's such a busy area. The room did have a residual smell of cigarettes but other than that it was great.

Definitely would recommend anybody looking for a hotel on your trip to Hanoi! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the service was really impeccable. The hotel was also within walking distance of the weekend night market, beer street and the lake as well. A good thing was that the rooms were quiet and we could not hear any bike honking sounds from the streets. Jenny and the other staff also kindly arranged to put 4 of us together on the same floor by merging 2 single beds into a double bed for the other room even though they only have 1 double room on every floor.

The two things that stand out from our stay was the service and the convenience. The couple that run this place made our first time in Hanoi a breeze. They assisnted with aiport transfers, local recommendations and even helped me recover my phone which i had lost on some street! The location of the hotel is on a relarively quiet street but has one of the best Bun cha (it was on our list from friends), 3 other street food vendors, a craft been bar, a spa and 3 coffee joints. After 3 dags if exploring old quarter this turned out to be mh favourite street. We wkll definitely be making a return and recommending this spot to fellow travellors.

EXCELLENT STAFF! Thank you so much for all of your recommendations about where to go in the city, organizing our transport to the airport, and holding our bags safely in the storage room while we visited SAPA for 2 days.In terms of the room it was clean and comfortable even though the building itself is quite old. The breakfast was delicious! Location was excellent! Would strongly recommend!

Wonderful hotel in Old Quarter. Handy to everything and within easy walking to the lake. Warm and fabulous staff who are more than happy to assist. Great options available for breakfast. Clean rooms, clean hotel, good aircon and hot shower, comfortable bed. Loved this place and will stay again.

Our refuge in Hanoi

We used the Emerald Holiday as a base for discovering Hanoi and for day trips outside the city and spent more than a week here. This hotel is a hidden gem in so many regards: We chose this hotel based on the location which is excellent since it is situated right in the middle of the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Most of the main sights are well within walking distance. We ordered transport to the hotel from the airport and received confirmation from the reception at once. All of our correspondence was answered quickly. The reception and service we received were excellent! The staff are all very friendly, they all speak english and they are eager to make sure you feel comfortable. They provided for every one of our demands and inquiries; transport to and from the airport, day trips to Ninh Binh and other locations outside Hanoi and tips for sightseeing in Hanoi. This helped us get the most out of our trip without having to worry about logistics. Anna, our main contact, even helped us with rearranging our booking on Cat Ba island and kept in touch with us while we were there! I can't praise her highly enough! The rooms are immaculate, spacious and clean, the beds are very comfortable and breakfast is provided according to individual needs. If you stay in Hanoi for a couple of days or an extended period; there's no need to look any further.

clean and easily accessible

Amazing Service, Accomodation & Location

The hotel itself is very clean, great ac, and looks just like the photos but the staff and service here are what made our stay amazing! We were always greeted with a smile and the staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. We even showed up 3 days ahead of our reservation unannounced after a storm had altered our plans and they let us keep our bags at the hotel all day and help us book new travel arrangements in no time - we would have been lost without them! We came back to this hotel a few days later and the staff let us check in at 6 am even though the check in time isnt until 2 pm. The list goes on with how helpful they were: did all of our laundry in a single day because we were leaving and booked us a private car to the airport at a competitive price. The location is also great - right in the old quarter and walking distance to everything. Would definitely recommend this hotel!!

We had a great 3 night stay here. The staff are incredibly helpful and attentive with anything you need both in the hotel and the local area. Easy walking to the lake, shopping spas and good restaurants. Room was spacious and clean, lots of sports channels and a fr/ bottle of wine. The amenities in the bathroom are good (even a razar), though you might want to bring your own shampoo/conditioner.

A perfect City break bolthole

Great place in the centre of Hanoi. Staff were so helpful and friendly. It's no frills but has everything you need. You'll probably spend most of the day outside so it's perfectly located and easy to find your way around. The hotel offers an airport shuttle which was efficient, well priced and easy to arrange. Breakfast is simple and the coffee delicious. You can't go wrong here.

Superb views of the bay with excellent cuisine

Was greeted with a delicious cold drink. After a brief mix-up with my reservation that didn’t appear on the day’s log, the manager resolved the issue quickly and I was given a high floor with a view of the bay..A very lovely and spacious room was made available. This hotel has a world class gym with new equipment. After a stroll in the area, I decided to use the discount for the buffet dinner. The buffet offered something for everyone, whether carnivore or vegetarian, fish or salad lover.. Good price and worth feasting.

Amazing staff and great location!

The staff were outstanding! They gave us several excellent recommendations for several local restaurants and shops nearby, greeted us with a welcome drink and served a wonderful breakfast. The airport transfer to and from the hotel was easy and the driver was on time despite all the traffic of the Old Quarter. They even gave me a little birthday cake when they noticed my birthday on my passport! Loved this hotel!

Great location, pleasant stay

Just as nice as many 4 star hotels with decent sized rooms in comparison. The front desk was very helpful in organizing some tours. The location is truly in the heart of the Old Quarter and couldn’t be better!

Great location and service!

We loved the central location of the hotel and the service was great too. They were very kind and accommodating. Even let me store my bag there after we returned from a cruise so I didn't have to carry it around all day before our flight.

Great amenities and service!

I moved to this hotel after a couple of days in another 3.5 stars hotel nearby, which was quite old and shabby (despite being more expensive than Holiday Emerald), so I didn't have a very high expectation, and was amazed how different this one was. The facilities are brand new, the room is super clean, and the service was just spectacular! Tracy and Hà at the reception were extremely helpful with anything I needed and asked. Overall the best hotel I stayed out of 4-5 different ones across Vietnam.

The hotel was ok. The good: convenient location and the staff was pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast included and had a tasty traditional Vietnamese breakfast of pho (noodle soup). The not so good: I was in a room without a window, this was not stated on my booking, room was quite dated and slightly dingy but not dirty. Chips/Peanuts were charged to my room while every other hotel in Vietnam provides light snacks for free and the price was not clearly shown in the room. AC was very noisy and disturbed my sleep. I was only stayed for 1 night but I would not stay again for a longer period of time.

Try this GREAT boutique hotel in Hanoi

What makes this clean, lovely boutique hotel the most special is the staff. Everyone was so nice and helpful. They bent over backwards to make any request or question addressed courteously and quickly. They arranged our transfers to and from the airport as well as our cruise on Halong Bay. Everything went flawlessly. We left our luggage at the hotel when we went on the cruise. We returned for one more night and our luggage was waiting for us in our room. Breakfast was plentiful and very good.

Staff was great and helpful. The breakfast was ample and good variety to choose from. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Centrally located and walking distance to the night market. Great foods all around the area.

Amazing attitude and service

Really amazing service, the staff did everything they could to accommodate our stay. They spent a half hour looking for a taxi for us on Christmas Eve, they held onto our luggage when we went out of town for a night, they helped us book a driver for the other city we were traveling to and they were always very helpful with a fantastic attitude! Lots of options for breakfast, and room itself was nice. Only drawback is the WiFi speed since I couldn’t really load anything quickly.

Hotel located at old quarter so pretty convinent to walk around. The hotel staffs are 5 stars! Friendly and helpful. They allow me to store my luggage with them a few days before check in. Upon checking in, it only take 5 mins as they are already expecting me! I love it when they already placed my luggage in the room! Zero time wasted! Thank you Ha, Kate and the gentlemen on night shift on Xmas! As for cons, the walls are on the thin side.. but other than that, perfectly fine with the hotel.

Great place to stay

Great place to stay. The staff were all amazing and super helpful as well as amazingly friendly. The room was very clean and tidy. Location wise you couldn’t be any where better. Everything is walking distance from the hotel.

Fantastic,Clean, modern comfortable,quiet boutique hotel in old quarter of Hanoi. We had a large room with king bed over looking the street. Everyone from bellboy , kitchen, housekeeping & reception were extremely polite, helpful & genuinely concerned over our wellbeing. Cooked to order breakfast with western & Vietnamese options....PHO was outstanding. Fresh papaya, mango, pineapple, passionfruit & dragon fruit was delicious. Location was perfect for exploring. Was welcome haven in a crazy busy city. Try the PK Spice restaurant down the street for a wonderful Pakistani/ Indian meal if you need a change.... it was fantastic.

Excellent staff - the most helpful I’ve experienced in my many travels. Very attractive, spacious rooms. There was a generous free breakfast buffet and an on-demand menu.

Wonderful stay

1) This is an aesthetically good-looking hotel that is pristinely clean and manned by a team of staff who knows their guests well. Special mention goes to Ha, with her warm smile, and the team at the 24-hour reception (sorry, didn't get all their names). 2) The hotel is conveniently located, within short walking distance to all lots of good food and shopping. 3) Highly recommended for your stay in Hanoi.

This is a small well located hotel in the Old Quarter. The staff are exceptional, helping us with bookings and suggestions. The rooms are spotless, well appointed and a good size. We had rooms at the back which were very quiet. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had lots of choice and you can order a custom breakfast as well. Great hotel.

The hotel is near to major landmarks and attractions. Hotel staff service is excellent and even better than some 5 star hotel that I ever stayed.

Wonderful people and excellent hotel

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at The Holiday Emerald Hotel. The staff greeted us with warm friendly smiles and never stopped with their efforts to make us welcome and help in every way possible. Ms. Ha was most gracious and offered us a free room upgrade. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The wifi was very fast. The breakfast was very satisfying to our tastes. Only we were facing the street on the 3rd floor and the room is a bit noisy. The air conditioning was excellent even on the warmest Hanoi days. The bathroom/wash room was very clean and spacious. Very large comfortable beds. The hotel staff is simply wonderful! The location is in a great place and makes walking everywhere very easy. I would recommend staying here, but next time I will ask for a more quiet room.

Good stay at a cute boutique hotel

The staff was very friendly and gave me great tips for my stay. They helped me exchange my money, get a SIM card, and find fun things to do. The hotel itself is cute and clean. Breakfast was included. Room has air conditioning. Hotel is located on a side street that isn’t insanely busy like a lot of other streets in Hanoi. I enjoyed my stay!

The hotel was in a very good location and I loved that it was small but the rooms, spacious, so it had a "private" environment even on the commom areas.

The hotel is located in prime location in Old Quarter, within walking distance to restaurant, lake and night market. The staff are friendly at the hotel and the front desk agents can communicate very well in English. Their rooms are spacious and clean. Lily provided excellent service to us during our stay. We stayed for one night, went to Ha Long Bay the second stay and return to the hotel on the 3rd day. Lily welcomed us back and made us feel like family. She also helped us with locate restaurant recommendations and stay connected with us throughout our day via WhatsApp and help us with directions and ensure we were having a fun time there. Highly recommended this hotel!

Great Hotel & Amenities in Central Location

This was my first trip to Hanoi and I’m so glad I chose Holiday Emerald Hotel. My room was modern and spacious and the location was perfect for sightseeing — a few minutes (walking) from major sites and on a quiet street. Great internet: an amazing free, tasty breakfast with delicious fruit as well as LOTS of Vietnamese and Western options (try their Pho Bo!), strong AC, and an elevator. Their staff is extremely attentive and wants to ensure your stay is wonderful. When I checked in, front desk manager Tracey (who is excellent) noted I was only in Hanoi for a few days and suggested some activities that I would have otherwise missed in addition to sites to visit and nearby restaurants. They were also able to upgrade my room.

Excellent little place in the middle of the Old Quarter. Spacious, bright room, very nice breakfast , and super helpful staff. I would love to come back.

Holiday Emerald was absolutely amazing! From the minute we walked in, the staff helped us with everything. The hotel is in a great location and easily walking distance to great restaurants. I highly highly recommend staying here!

This is an exceptional hotel with wonderful staff and definitely the best we stayed in for this price bracket.

Excellent Stay at Emerald

Spent two nights at the Emerald. Very centrally located in the heart of the Old Quarters near Hoan Kiem Lake. Lots of food options and activities. Recommended.

This hotel is in a great location of the city. The hotel is clean,staff were so friendly and helpful.the rooms were lovely,just the right size.it is a little noisy in the early morning where you can hear other doors banging shut as it echoes.but overall it’s a great place.would stay here again

Great stay in Hanoi

This is a high quality hotel, with spacious and comfortable rooms. I liked the breakfast with buffet and menu all inclusive. There is no computer in the room, laptops can be borrowed from the reception.

Hanoi Old Quarter - Great Hotel for the price!

The staff at Holiday Emerald Hotel were very friendly and accommodating during our visit to Hanoi. We were always greeted with warm smiles whenever we came or left the hotel lobby. The complimentary breakfast was very good (although we only really at the fruit because there are so many great food options on the street). And the check-in / check-out process and hotel shuttle service were very easy. They even offered to hold our bags for us for two days when we went on a 2 day, 1 night trip to Ha Long Bay. The hotel itself is located in the heart of Old Quarter Hanoi, very short walking distances to attractions like Hoan Kiem Lake, St Joseph's Cathedral, and many amazing street food vendors. But still far enough away from the busyness of Hoan Kiem Lake night market so that you are not crowded with motorbikes or people when the streets are shut down around the Lake. I would highly recommend Holiday Emerald Hotel to anyone who is visiting Hanoi and wants to stay in a very clean well run hotel in the middle of Old Quarter without being in the super busy touristy area of Hanoi.

Amazing!!!

I chose this hotel for my daughter and her friend for my daughter’s birthday, based on reviews. In the booking requests, I wrote that it was her birthday and was hoping for just a bday greeting for her. Kate responded that they would provide something for her. They made It really special for her, complete with a surprise greeting with staff and a cake with candles singing happy birthday. Balloons on her bed, mango and banana and welcome drink were so nice!! They really went out of their way! This truly made a wonderful memorable experience for her on her special day. My daughter said the hotel and room was very clean and the staff were amazing and so welcoming. Highly recommend!!! What a special experience.

Best Value Hotel

The location of this hotel is very strategic right in the middle of the Old Quarters. Walking distance to all the eateries and to the lake. The service is great, hotel staffs are very hospitable. Rooms are big and beds are comfortable. Shower is also good. Fresh fruits are also replenished every day. For such a reasonable price, this hotel offers a very good deal.

5 days - 5 stars!

We spent 5 days at this hotel. It was a top-quality experience from the moment we arrived at the door until our transport arrived to take us back to the airport. We were impressed by the consistent quality of the hotel staff. They were friendly, helpful, and professional from the doorman, to reception, to the breakfast staff, to housekeeping. The hotel manager was a standout in her interaction with guests and her oversight of the many details in running a hotel. This was especially evident when a power outage occurred, triggering the emergency alarm at the same time guests were either checking out, getting dressed to start the day, or sitting down for breakfast... a crises deftly managed! The Holiday Emerald is in a great location, with lovely rooms, excellent staff, and all at a good price.

Simple nice hotel

Staff where very nice, location is good, room was clean and breakfast was good as well. It’s great value for money.

Good location in old quarter

Pros: good location in old quarter, pretty roomy, strong hot water, clean, employees friendly and accommodating, near Pho 12, a good pho place. Cons: my room didn’t have any windows (although there was a fake one made to look like one) so it felt really claustrophobic. Avoid the massage place next door. Provided map had helpful recommendations, but needs to be redone to make more accurate and legible.

Right in the centre of the old quarter

Fantastic location in the old quarter. Although the whole area was 'manic' , the hotel managed to have an air of calm about it. Staff are very attentive and friendly. The rooms are in good condition and very spacious.
