The negative feedback is not as much for the hotel itself but the unbearable noise around the property. Internal noise in the room from machine next door and luckily the staff was kind and changed my room for an acceptable one. But the external noise from the rooftop bar of this hotel and the Nobu hotel across the road was deafening!!!! Impossible to sleep until well past midnight. Families with kids should stay well away. Hivernage is a terrible area of Marrakesh, noisy party at every corner. It was a mistake not to stay at a riad inside the Medina.
My recent stay at Hivernage Hotel and Spa was overall pleasant, thanks to the incredible staff and their dedication to guest satisfaction. The hotel staff went above and beyond, and the service in the restaurant was particularly exemplary. Imad, one of the servers, handled a minor issue with professionalism and kindness when I found a hair in my food. While this was disappointing, he made every effort to make up for it, which I truly appreciated. Karima at the front desk was outstanding—she went above and beyond to accommodate my requests, making my stay much more enjoyable. Fadua (from client relations, I believe—apologies if the spelling is incorrect) was also incredibly kind and attentive. While the staff was exceptional, there are a few areas for improvement. The beds and pillows are much too hard, which affected my sleep quality. Additionally, the windows on the Nobu side of the hotel need better soundproofing, as outside noise was quite disruptive at times. If you’re planning a stay, I’d recommend requesting a room on the Sofitel side for a quieter experience. Thank you again to the wonderful staff for their warmth and professionalism—it made a significant difference during my stay. With a few adjustments, this hotel has the potential to offer an even better guest experience.
I would say 3 star hotel. Somewhat worn down and interior dated. Food and staff OK. Terrible noise from the clubs and roads - we moved from the 5th to the 2nd floor after one night but still impossible to sleep. I was told they would put up plastic shutters outside the windows to try to mitigate noise - unfortunately I won’t be coming back to check. Due to lack of sleep I would not recommend.
Really loved this hotel and spa. Ideal distance from town. A great spa, pool, bar and a great sky bar.
Tired and in need of renovation, technically a 5 star but more like a 4. AC didnt work in the room, bathroom is cramped and pool is un useable.
The hotel room I had was needed renovation, the lighting in the room were very low, you need extra lights to look for something in the night time. But don't get me wrong the hotel service was very good, reception and restaurant services were 5 stars. You can easily walk to the old town.
Very nice hotel and polite staff. Know that You will have some noise at night because it is a busy area.
Positive: staff friendly, a selection of breakfast. Negative: no free newspaper, no electric kettle, no tea bags, no reading lamp, and noisy all night long until 5am or 6am! If you are a light-sleeper like me, I was wide awake all night until the early morning. Loud noises from the disco music or clubbing next door or something was going on nearby. People still walked around in the street, a busy traffic, taxis everywhere, with drivers blasted their horns and revving their cars, and people talking so loud in the street all night long until 6am! Unless you love to party all night long…you will be OK. But I need my sleep after an all day sightseeing in Marrakech. This noisy goings-on happened at least three nights while I was staying in this hotel for a week.
Good overall but would not say it is a 5 star hotel, more like 4 star hotel. Location is excellent and walkable to the city centre. Hotel staff were polite. Pictures make it look bigger than what it was. Quite disappointed with the pool, very small and shady. Not a big selection at breakfast, and advertised there is a tea/coffee maker in all rooms but there was no option to have tea. There is no iron in the room. It gets very noisy at night due to Nobu rooftop blasting out music and could not sleep the first night but did get better as the days went by. I did try to ask reception for a quieter room but said it is located on a busy street and all rooms booked up. I would say there are better 5* star hotels in the area if looking for more a luxurious stay but otherwise it nice and clean and not planning to be in the hotel all day.
Very friendly staff, variety of food at breakfasts. Great location.
Staff is not that great
Lovely hotel good location
The hotel is top in the town. Best location, the rooms are clean and quiet. Abderrahim is very polite and super helpful . He helped me with most of my tours and made sure everything is OK. Hakema always meets you with her beautiful smile at the entrance. Over all Amazing Experience!!! Recommended !!!
Forgot about the third person
Was an ideally located hotel but slightly tired. Also we booked the room for 3 adults and had to constantly ask for a third set of everything.
Disappointement: Hotel needs an upgrade.
Disappointed in this hotel which used to have a great reputation. The rooms and bathroom are getting old. The bed was not comfortable: 2 twins poorly made into a Queen, not worth the price. Air conditioning was too loud. No service elevators: Staff member used elevators so often that we ended up having to use the stairs most of the time. Parking is essentially a street parking: difficult to in a busy area of town (The valet service makes up for it somewhat). Gym area was not air conditionned: too hot to be used in a 30C+ weather. The only positive was the service quality and the helpfulness of the staff members.
Thiis hotel is in a great location and the rooms are big, The rooms need a good cleaning. And it smelled like a party happened in it the night before. The staff was very nice and accommodating and the property was safe and close to the airport. If you’re on a budget and you wanna be in a walkable area outside of the Medina, you can get through a couple of nights here.
Great spot for some quiet and calm in busy Marrakech. Staff is very helpful and pleasant. Daily breakfast has something for everyone. Pool is refreshing and rooms have A/C. Would stay again. One thing that bothered me was some artwork on the second floor - it’s nothing like the artwork in the rest of the hotel, and I found it very dark and disturbing. There is a photo attached to this review, and everyone can make their own call. Personally, I thought it was distasteful for a hotel and wondered why they chose it when it doesn’t fit with any of the other decor. Other than that, this is a great hotel walking distance to the Medina, the mall, and has an ATM right outside the front door. I had dinner at the restaurant multiple times and it was fantastic every time.
The room they gave me had a horrible smell coming from the toilet the entire stay. Also they were bugs in my room that I seen every day I was there. I asked to change rooms and I was told they were full
This is not a 5 star hotel lol. More like 3 star. The bathroom door handle fixing fell off for starters! Staff take a long time to address your needs. Friendly doormen. Outdated bathroom, cracked walls. Loud noise from adjacent buildings. Thin walls, very disturbing, can hear a lot from the room next door and above. Breakfast is ok. Restaurant is expensive to eat in the evenings. The outdoor pool was freezing! The location and air con got me through my stay!
Bad rooms, from mattress to shower head to a/c, not so good breakfast, and staff not eager to help. Finally they changed the room but all else remained the same
It was a nice calm stay. Mina in particular was extremely nice, hospitable and informative in the region. I would definitely repeat my stay and recommend Hivernage for future stays.
There is no tea of coffee in the rooms provided, shuttle service is double the price of a taxi, the pool is cold
Great location beautiful helpful staff Excellent service Thr room was great
I liked the warmth of the staff, the good food, the ambiance, the entertainment, and the cleanliness. It was a great experience.
Noisy hotel
Hotelroom was very noisy there's a restaurant & club opposite that go very late into the night, and windows were single glazed so noise from that and street goes straight into the room. When we asked to move we were told no other rooms available for 2nd night, we were eventually moved on our 3rd night after lots of complaining to the desk team but onto the same side but higher up the building generally. reception service was very poor
The service was great and the hotel is in a nice area.
The staff were really nice especially Mina. The gym facilities are really good the only thing is the food in the restaurant isn’t great but it would make do for a quick meal
My week at the Hivernage was excellent
Amazing Staff, great food, great experience. Special thanks to Ali and Badr in the restaurant/bar for outstanding service.
It's ok. The rooms are comfortable (wide bathroom, comfy beds) but don't have AC, which is an issue in a city like Marrakech where temperatures fluctuate and cars run on diesel. The breakfast is good. The staff schools you on why asking for climate control is an excessive luxury (at $200 a night, no less). The staff also grossly mishandles airport transfers, which are never actually booked (two flights, one to the Sahara, one to New York City, not one had been booked as planned). Room service ordering is inaccurate and staff is deeply unhappy when something is wrong. Overall service is inconsistent and this hotel does not deserve its prices. It is close to night clubs thought, so people will stay.
had dinner in restaurant high quality food, excellent spring roll and beef however, noise isolation in room is poor and always heard the noise and voice from adjacent room
It’s mixed with excellent aspects and really bad aspects. The rooms are authentic and comfortable (spacious bathroom), the bar and restaurant are nice (music, breakfast buffet, nice restaurant of european and Moroccan food). The neighborhood is great and walkable. But the rooms don’t have AC and this is a big problem in Marrakech. And the staff can be at times extremely rude and unprofessional. After 10 days and As we were departing for our flight to New York City, no airport transfer had been arranged despite booking repeatedly the day before. The night shift receptionist had no interest in helping us. The doorman was rude and unprofessional. I will never come back to this shameful property.
Overrated
Overrated hotel - I do not understand why this hotel is rated 5 stars, maybe because of the pool and the choice of services - But the quality is definitely more a 3/3.5 stars- the rooms need to be refresh, AC did not worked, No Safe or not working, Fridge not working, very noisy at night with clubs around - Regarding the services, the SPA are very simple, rooftop open but bar is closed so you can go but not even have a coffee, the breakfast choice is very simple and disappointing for a "5 stars" hotel - Globally, a real lack of management in this hotel, regarding the team leadership, maintenance, cleaning, services - The only positive things is his location!
Disappointing Stay
Absolutely overpriced and overrated! Hotel is definitely not a "5 star". It is more like 3-4 . Very old fashioned rooms. AC in the room did not work (all 3 rooms we had) Good Location but very noisy street facing rooms. Poor breakfast choices and service.
Hotel is definitely not a "5 star". It is more like 3.5. Very old fashioned rooms. AC in the room did not work (all 3 rooms we had) Good Location but very noisy street facing rooms. Poor breakfast choices and service. Good location But Absolutely overpriced and overrated hotel.
Lovely hotel in a lovely area. Fantastic, friendly staff who will go out of their way to please. It would have been a better experience if the aircon in the room was in operation and you have to endure loud music from the neighbouring hotel.
Location is very good. Drainage smells bad. Odors from the kitchen also invade upper level rooms. The coffee maker was broken and dirty.
We came for business trip ,,the hotel was great . The stuff is amazing and very helpful in everything you need . Highly recommended
The service was excellent and is what made it a five star experience!
Good experience in general.
Great location. Nice small hotel. 15 minute walk into square. Most places are walkable here. We had issues with noise in our room as the landing is open through all floors and due to a storage cupboard next to us we could constantly hear thuds. Luckily, we were allocated another room. Streets were noisy at night time too. Bathroom could do with a little refurb.
Overall great experience
This hotel should not be a 5 star as it is definitely not at the standard of a 5 star hotel. At best the hotel is a 3 star. The rooms are quite cramped and old fashioned. There is literally no light at all due to what appears to be energy saving bulbs and the lights and electricity sockets do not all work. The WiFi did not reach one of our rooms and we were only on the second floor. The breakfast is mediocre with minimal selection but the service in the restaurant is good. The pool is shaded because of the tall buildings around it doesn’t get much sun because of that. The hotel staff will offer to get you a taxi but will agree a very high price with the driver which seems like a scam. They do not allow you to bring food from elsewhere into your hotel room and make you order room service which they say is 24 hour but then they do not make everything one there 24 hours a day. The evening receptionist made sleazy remarks to one of the girls in our group making them feel uncomfortable and was seen looking at girls in the lobby.
Reception staff was generally unhelpful and unpleasant. In my opinion reception staff needs more training. I will not give this hotel more than 3 star rating.
The property is located in a nice neighbourhood in a walkable distance to Djema el fna and Koutoubia mosque (15 min walk). It was also not too far away from a Carrefour supermarket (15 min walk). The hotel is clean and the rooms are nicely decorated. The hotel amenities are maybe not fitting of a 5* hotel, for example an iron was requested and provided in a swift manner, however was collected quickly thereafter, presumably for another guest. The outdoor pool was also not heated, and despite the 30° temperature outside, the pool temperature was cold. The breakfast was wonderful and all the staff very warm, friendly and welcoming - they were brilliant with our 18 month old. The hotel also offers excursions, one of which we took, the Ourika Valley tour which I recommend and these were reasonably priced. Overall a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend.
Excellent choice if you want to stay a walking distance of main points of interest. You do not pay outrageous rates as another neigborhood hotels.
Boutique hotel ambiance, helpful staff, and good breakfast. Minor maintenance issues but overall a very pleasant stay
Both location and staff are excellent.
Excellent staff. Clean and very safe
The property was located in a great location, with the Menara Mall and Gardens within 10-20 minutes walking distance, in addition to Koutoubiya Mosque. The standard room we booked was very nice, and it had a great interior with Moroccan designs. Would definitely recommend this hotel
The staff at the hotel are absolutely amazing! Every single one of them.
The hotel and staff were great. The only downside were the thin walls, you can hear those next to you.
Amazing boutique hotel and staff.
Short Stay
I stayed overnight did not have much time to explore the hotel however the A/C in the room was very low and it was extremely hot. I was to exhausted to switch rooms, my feet were swollen because of the heat and I had to leave early in the AM. I resorted to opening the balcony door but it was noisy as the security from the hotel across my room were up all night - Did not sleep. Mohammed room service were extra helpful in trying to get the A/C fixed, he even called the maintenance but it was no use as it was how the A/C functions. Thank you Mohammed you were very helpful. Front desk while checking in, is very pleasant just needed to ask for my change and Why I had to ask for my free bottle of wine The guy in the morning at 3:45 AM looked like I woke him up and was not helpful when I asked if it was possible to have a bottle of water being that all night I was in a hot and noisy room - he needs to be more accommodating.
.
Amazing hotel with the best staff. Aziz was super helpful and friendly. He went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back
Lovely hotel, great location
Always an enjoyable stay- con
Outstanding Support.
They went above and beyond. My wife got ill, and they arranged for a doctor to come by, and then a cab to take us to several pharmacies to get the scripts that she needed. The service was awesome, and very reasonably priced.
The staff at the front desk and bell hops at the entrance are very friendly and provide great service with the exception of one girl working behind the desk (didn’t get her name, shorter with short hair). Our original room had an awful smell in it and the electrical outlets, the shower, and coffee maker all did not work. We moved to a different room the next day. Still an issue with the electrical outlets not working and the hairdryer working when it wanted to. The hotel overall looks lovely, but obviously needs some electrical upgrading and probably many other upgrades. The breakfast in the morning was great. The dining experience provided ok food with below average service.
Overall good experience and the hotel is centrally located so easy to get to everywhere.
Very nice hotel, brrakfast was great snd all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend it.
Not the best stay
The staff wasn’t welcoming and very rude, I told them it was my birthday and they should do something nice, and they never did anything, they made my stay feel very uncomfortable, I felt like if I asked the staff a question, they would get angry very quickly, not all staff was rude there was really lovely and polite ones but there was a particular guy that wore glasses, he was very very rude
Close to the square and citys souls you can walk yo it and the menara mall no need to take taxi. However we did not have water in our room for 2 days and the room was very dusty. And he cleaniness was so bad the lamps had lots of dust and the wall behind the headboard. Also we had to ask for water at all yime. He hotel does not have a kettle and if ou are from england and fancy a cuppa before bed you have to pay 35 dirhams which is nothing but it adds up. But all the staff were friendly
Swimming pool was cool no heather and pillows smell bad and to soft the shower with many details water came out every where because bath courtain was short
Hotel is unfortunately not a "5 star". It is more like 3.5. The shower wasn't great and bath tap did not work at all so had to fill up the bath using the shower head(!) The breakfast options weren't great for continental and crepes appeared to be out of a packet. The MySky bar was okay with a nice view but on the first night after requesting a strawberry daiquiri with crushed ice they brought me a citrus daiquiri with no ice and then took 45 minutes to bring us a portion of fries. Fortunately we were only there for 4 days but i'm sure there are better places to stay.
Outstanding cleanliness and service
Very good hotel; I very often stay there... always perfect
Hotel is gross... not clean at all. Our entire room would flood every time someone would shower... not sure why, tv didn’t work 3 lightbulbs were dead when we checked in... staff not helpful not worth the money spent a little extra and stay elsewhere. Spa- paid for a 60 minuet massage normally you get the massage for that long I was in and out of spa in 40 minuets... the girl left the door open for most of my massage(mind you I’m nude) felt really uncomfortable and everyone I’d open my eyes she was on her phone... didn’t feel safe here what so ever. Said they have a airport transfer but when I asked they said I’d need a taxi because I was leaving at 8am... taxis in Marrakesh can be a little sketchy And didn’t appreciate that what so ever.
Close location to Marrakech main attractions. Sorry but this is not a 5* hotel.
We were not freely allowed to use the steam room. Swimming was great and breakfast was fanastic
Lovely hotel, well located. Staff were friendly and attentive. Only down side was the room has no tea/coffee making facilities but when we requested - this was provided.
Everyone was very nice. Checking was a breeze and easy. The pool was a bit chili but other then then was super nice. Good location for us. Easy walking to the city center.
Staff really friendly and helpful. Had a great stay.
Stayed here for 3 nights while in Marrakesh for a friends wedding. The staff were amazing especially Mina and Ahmed on reception who spoke perfect English and were so helpful and professional
The first impression of this hotel is the amazing service you get. Everyone is friendly, courteous, and professional. The hotel is in a high end area of the city and close to all the places you would want to visit, we walked everywhere. Be aware that the rooftop of this hotel has a bar that plays loud music on weekends and holidays, so if you don't like the noise avoid staying on the 6th floor, even though we did stay on the 6th, they are pretty good at turning down the noise around 10:30 PM each night, so we didn't get disturbed. One piece of advice for hotel management is to perhaps place felt tips below the chair legs in the rooms because we found that guests in the rooms above us moving chairs around can be very noisy and annoying. WiFi is super fast and reliable. Breakfast is top notch, and the staff and service is amazing. Highly recommended.
Walkable, with plenty of restaurants and attractions around. The area is safe, and the hotel is located in the heart and best part of Marrakech.
Great location. Good breakfast and restaurant services. Spa was good. They have a problem with multiple keys opening doors even when it’s not the correct room.
Great hotel, but needs some maintenance.
Generally a very good experience, but lack of maintenance shows especially in the bathroom fittings, which seems to be fairly common around Morocco. Staff were very friendly and helpful, facilities great, if just they could keep up with maintenance. Would stay there again.
Staff are rude and are not trained to deal with complaints.
very helpful reception staff & a nice hotel too ....close to city & attractions
The pool was so cold you couldn't swim in it. My room window was broken and didn't close properly. The remote for the tv was broken. I felt it was not up to the 5 star rating it was given.
Great location, comfortable stay, but not 5*
Had a relaxing stay at this hotel (stayed on the 3rd floor). The location is perfect! Close to the median. Mina on reception is very friendly and welcoming. She orgnaised a cake for my partners birthday wirhout being promoted which was a kind touch to our stay at the hotel. The pool area was pleasant and relaxing, the staff were tentative. We enjoyed the roofbar at sunset. I think this hotel does itself a disservice wirh it's 5 star rating. When you book a 5 star hotel there is an expected standard. The hotel definately isn't a 5 star, more a 4. I would recommed and would stay here again.
The Pearl next door is very loud so be warned if you are on that side !
Very nice place centrally located great breakfast nice dinner. Hotel staff is very polite and welcoming. It was a great experience
Lovely Hotel 👍
Clean hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Good variety for breakfast. Very good wifi. Clean swimming pool although the weather was not warm enouqh to swim. 10 mis walk to Medina. 15 mins to the airport by taxi. 20 mins walk to the shopping mall. Overall a very pleasent stay. I would recommend it to my friends.
All the staff where exceptionally helpful and friendly. The reception desk staff made the booking in process very easy and welcoming. Ayoub on the desk was particularly helpful over printing our boarding passes and with out who’s help we would have had difficulties at the airport.
Very nice location, beautiful hotel, very dark inside. Would recommend!
Great location by old city. Decent breakfast. Some front desk staff a bit aloof.
Not 5 star, a good 3 star at best. Friendly staff and well located though, with easy walks to the old and new town. Great roof top views. Wouldn't recommend the price unless the location is what you're after.
Hotel overall was nice - location was good. The male staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, unfortunately the female staff not so much. Especially the lady on reception who pretty much shoved a bill for tax etc in our faces with not so much as a “did you enjoy your stay”. Left a rather sour taste. We wouldn’t recommend the restaurant for an evenings dinner - it is very expensive and the food is subpar at best. Plenty of other options to choose from! Overall the hotel was good - the facilities were okay, staff for the most part were pleasant.
Nice location
Very good location. The hotel personnel are not very helpful with taxis: you would need to bargain with the taxi drivers whereas other hotels and restaurants will negotiate for you the fare.
Would Definitely Stay Again!
We stayed for one week in two suites. The hotel is beautiful, as are the rooms. The bed and bedding were clean and very comfortable. The hotel is positioned five minutes from the medina wall, and in an area offering many restaurants. We liked touring the city and returning to a quieter location outside the wall at night. The breakfast is maybe one of the best we've ever experienced at a hotel.
Terrible spa and gym conditions but excellent food
It was called a spa hotel but the spa didn’t work. We chose it for the gym but most of the gym machines didn’t work so I had to go to another hotel to use the gym. The rooms had clearly not been renovated for decades. It was an average 3 star hotel that should not have been advertised as a spa hotel. The breakfast was absolutely brilliant however as was the service
Extremely Lovely Experience
My husband and i checked in on 16/09/18 around midnight our anniversary. We were booked into a double room standard. However that was not the room we purchased when booking with expedia. Being 18 weeks pregnant i was not happy with the room and was very emotional. The staff were really helpful especially the gentleman at the night reception desk with glasses i forgot his name. He offerred me a twin room for the night and when someone checked out in the morning. Offerred me a double kingsize room the next day which we spent 6 nights. As i was crying he gave a bottle of water and also provided a tray of fruits as a courtesy. I was very happy with the whole experience. Definately recommend. 5 star.
Lovely hotel with incredible staff
We recently enjoyed a week long stay at the Hivernage Hotel and had a wonderful stay overall. The hotel itself is lovely, the food is great and the decor is modern with a hint of traditional Moroccan style which is a beautiful and tasteful combination. It was the staff, however, that completely made the stay for us - every single member of staff was so friendly, welcoming and helpful and they really go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. We honestly can't praise them enough for how brilliant they were! If we were to be really picky, the only thing that we thought was slightly short of exceptional was the pool area - it is enclosed and isn't actually in the sun for much of the day (this was fine for us, but for anyone wanting to sit and relax in the sun for a lot of their holiday this would likely be disappointing). We were also travelling with a toddler and, whilst the staff were absolutely incredible with him and he was provided for with a travel cot etc, it's not really a hotel that lends itself well to kids as there's nothing for them to do (e.g. the kids pool is just a slightly shallower part of the main pool and that's the only kid's facility available). Those points are just being really picky though, as we found our stay to be brilliant and we'd definitely go back and highly recommend it.
Perfect location
Perfect location, great restaurant and a 24 hr cafe, very friendly and helpful staff. I liked the balcony from my room, the roof top bar, the pool and the spa. The breakfast was grand. WiFi was good. I would stay here again.
location is very good. My room as was leaking water in room and walls were damp. Then after I complained they shifted me to a higher category room which was nice. On my last day all lifts were not working. I was on 5th floor it was a process to go up and down as one list was being used by all hotel.
Comfy beds, shower sheet not clean with dark marks
I will give the hotel 4* B and. It even 5*. The rooms are not that sound proof. I can easily hear my neighbours. I woke up in the middle of night because if a a loud tv from a room next to me.
Rude staff (males)
Service and staff was bad, staff and manager are extremely rude. The female staff were great it’s the male reception staff that are rude. Porters and rest were great too.
Best Hotel to stay in Marrakech
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel, great value for money, 24/7 services, friendly, polite staffs, loved the pool, gym and SPA. Message was great, i had to book it multiply times. Love the rooftop bar, i personally think it is better than the Pearl in the building opposite, the DJ is awesome, Overall it is a great hotel and you don't need to get taxi often because it is close to all the best clubs and restaurants in Marrakech (Sofitel, So lounge, Theatero, the pearl, sky bar).
This place isn’t ook, stayed here in the past and was a nice family hotel, nice area and clean, this time was very average, noisy in the night due to surrounding night clubs and roof top bar, noisy in neibhoring rooms and a room which had a non working AC, one of the reception staff were extremely rude not only with us but also with other guests. For the price it’s ok, but you get what you pay for I guess. Average all round.

Nice place but air con only blowing warm in the four rooms I booked.
