Lovely property. Pool area was in need of some maintenance. We were charged $10 more than advertised price. But overall a lovely experience.
Lovely stopover spot just off the Hume Highway
Lovely well-appointed, spacious cottage with a comfortable bed. Cottage has a nice outlook and is close to the pool and tennis court. We enjoyed learning about the farm and meeting some of the animals with Raegan. The only downside was the very strong odour from the drain in the shower.
Hillview Farmstay
Very warm welcome. Amazing breakfast ingredients provided. Feeding the animals and learning more about them was special
We were disappointed with our stay, as we expected a peaceful and quiet farmstay, but the area was very noisy due to the nearby freeway. The tent was not well-maintained, and when the wind picked up, we were unable to latch the windows, resulting in an uncomfortable breeze directly over us. We attempted to contact the on-site staff but received no answer, and our text to the property owner also went unanswered. Given the high price, we felt the experience did not meet expectations.
The property was conveniently located with some traffic noise associated with being just off the highway. The dome tent was fun, although he bathroom door doesn’t stay shut which wasn’t ideal with a family. The pool was excellent. The main disappointment for me was not having all the breakfast provisions, and no hot water for the first day until I realised that the hot water system was switched off- not great at this price point. I did let the hosts know in an email and never got a response, which I was disappointed about.
We had a great stay at Hillview Farmstay, our cabin was perfect, it had everything we could need and the farm animals were a massive bonus! At 8.30 in the mornings you can meet the animals and offer them feed. Donna the farm manager tells you the animals names and all about them which makes it even better! We wish we could have stayed longer, hopefully we’ll come again.
comfortable cabin in a lovely setting and a great place to break up a journey especially for families.
Loved the place. Bacon and eggs in the fridge, great for families and small children. Well appointed and lots to do
This place is wonderful for a quiet stay. The loft that we had were clean and there were sufficient heaters during the winter time. Cooking utensils and BBQ were kept clean and we had much fun cooking for ourselves. There were horses, goats, sheep, alpacas around and we can feed them. It would be great to have activities for little ones to keep them occupied. The only downside was the wifi. It could hardly connect and we had to step out of the loft to have a slightly stronger connection. Overall, I would recommend this place for a stay.
Very relaxing
So cute! the animal feeding in the morning was awesome.
Fantastic experience. The family loved it. Thank you!
Convenient stop between Melbourne and Sydney
Loved the unique cottage farm stay feel Loved the quiet fresh feel of evenings and mornings. Very well maintained and comfortable cottage with lovely comfy bed and breakfast supplies appreciated.
A nice little farm stay. We stayed in The Lodge and we had everything we needed in a comfortable home. Some nicer outdoor furniture would have been more relaxing. Pool clean and refreshing.
Dog friendly. Clean property. Nice setting.
Peace, Beauty of surrounds and Tranquility
I loved my stay at Hillview and so did Tia my cat. Everyone and everything were just what I needed for a quiet and peaceful stay, only wish I had stayed longer. If in the area again shall definately book in.
Property met all our needs travelling with a pet between Sydney & Melbourne
Comfortable, friendly, but remote.
Comfortable stay, but had to drive to Gundagai for dinner.
Hillview Farm is a comfortable easy stay halfway between Sydney & Melbourne. Even the dog enjoyed the stay & new smells. Highly recommend. Will be back.
The Air Conditioner/Heater didn't work. We have stayed here on 3 occasions and this is the only time that the Heater didn't work. Could have made the stay a lot more comfortable considering the overnite got down to zero.
Very good place to stay with kids
Great property and prompt communication!
We booked into a dome tent for 3 adults, the plastic window was damaged, the gyprock was unfinished in the kitchen area. The 2 ladies who seemed to be in charge did not introduce themselves and we felt like we were doing something wrong by the way they spoke to us when we were having a look around. There was only enough bedding and breakfast for 2 - we were given an extra bag of linen and breakfast after they realised. You need to cook outside of the dome (fair enough) but there was no shelter over the cooking area (it was raining). Toilet door didn't shut properly. You needed to leave the firepit area at 8.30pm. Pillows and bedding were uncomfortable. For the price we paid it was definitely not a great experience
lovely setting, friendly staff (and animals) and amazing night sky.
Have been staying here for eight years and seen the changes. It has retained its charm as it has modernised. We love to stop here with our dog on our trips to and from Melbourne.
Stayed in the Glamping Tent. Friendly employees. Tent was had a good layout. Too hot in summer. Winter would be better. Bad orientation though. The deck should've faced away from the highway instead of 45 degree angle to it. LOTS of noise from the Hume Highway. Could hear the trucks all night. This is not a place I'd recommend for a romantic getaway. I would stay again if it wasn't for the rude owner. I said hi and nodded my head as I passed him. I got nothing back. Like I didn't exist. My wife was walking about 10 seconds behind me and she also said hi to him. Again, nothing from him. My kids even said thank you and waved to a staff member who was next to him and, again, he didn't acknowledge them at all. Very, very rude man. I feel sorry for his staff.
Highly recommend!
Great farm and wonderful opportunity to engage with the animals. Waking up to a herd of goats at our door delightful . Accommodation was clean and comfortable.
Highway Haven
We did a road trip from the Central Coast of NSW to Melbourne. Hillview was almost exactly halfway. Situated right on the Hume it was great to pull in after a long drive and receive a warm welcome. Our unit was perfect with a lounge and kitchen, balcony and a king size bed in the bedroom. We had pre ordered food for the BBQ and some dips which were excellent. The outdoor fire pit was also great to get some fresh air after all day in the car. We had our dog Teddy who was welcome and enjoyed the space. It is the perfect place to stopover for a day or even two if you are doing the Sydney to a Melbourne road trip, especially if you have kids or a dog.
Absolutely awesome stay at the farm. Quick and easy check in to a stunning cabin that had everything we might need. Breakfast was in the fridge...Covid friendly. Staff we super nice. We got to feed the animals too. We are from 🇨🇦 but would book in here again if in the area. Thank you!
We absolutely loved our stay at Hillview Farmstay. The lodgings were unique (our initial primary draw to the venue) but it's the staff (especially Donna) are so very friendly, welcoming and helpful that made the stay so special. And the animals really add to the charm of the place. I would highly recommend Hillview Farmstay to any couple looking for a romantic getaway or a family looking for a safe and relaxing time away from the city.
This accomodarion is a true gem. A peacefull rural setting with tennis court, swimming pool, farm tours, animal feeding and a ultra modern self contained cabin with king si,e bed, breakfast pack with bacon and eggs and a dinner pack (at reasonable cost) . All in all a superb experience. Well done to the property owners. If you need a fault (as some viewers want) the toilet pan needs fixing to the floor. Congratulations to the owners.
Loved our stay at Hillview Farm Stay, beautiful spot with great service from Rod. Breakfast was provided with fresh produce. Animal feeding, buggy ride and tennis for the kids. Will definitely be back!
A great place to stay!
Great Farmstay
We stayed at Hillview overnight on the way to Victoria. We found the staff friendly & ver helpful. The accomadation was clean spacious & comfortable. We were in a 2 bedroom cabin. There was a bedroom downstairs with 2 single beds & 1 upstairs with a king size bed. Each room had its own ensuite with walk in shower. The kitchen has a microwave small cooktop & full size fridge. The lounge was large & quite comfy. There was a tennis court & small swimmi pool. Breakfast was left in cabin cereal bread eggs bacon tea coffee, jam, butter, milk & sugar. We loved the interaction with the animals & meetin other guests around the firepit where we had marshmellows to roast. We found our overall stay very comfortable & enjoyable and will definately be back.
Nice property but let down
I booked this stay as I wanted a nice quiet farm/ rural stay. The property was nice a little run down but nice, Rod and Raywin were lovely, feeding the chooks was fun and so was the walk around the property. Unfortunately the closeness to the Hume Highway and the constant traffic noise was a big downer.
Hillview is a nice property and the onsite hosts are lovely. My young son really enjoyed the animal feeding. I booked the Cub Safari Tent. Whilst the safari tent was lovely and well laid-out, it failed to meet expectations. For those going to stay in the coming weeks/months - I advise calling the owners PROIR to arrival & check the zipper has been fixed. The zipper was broken when we stayed and I wasn't told in advance and it was a very cold and windy night. I felt very unsecure and was tempted to leave right then and there had it not been for just completing a 6hr drive already. The wind rattled through not to mention anyone (or anything) could have just entered the tent and as a single mum with a young son this was a very nervous thought and kept me from sleeping properly. When I've written to the owners they have explained that they're looking to replace the tent entrance with a timber sliding door however, this seems to be at the start of motion and not sure how long it will take to come to fruition. Also, be aware the noise from the Hume Hwy is intense. I haven't seen this mentioned in previous reviews but from the tent you can hear EVERYTHING in complete detail. Again, I've address with the owners who say they're looking into sound barriers and white noise (nature sounds) to be installed. Lastly, the BBQ ignition function wasn't working. It meant I had to seek assistance to the light the BBQ. Not a deal breaker but thought I'd mention it.
The interaction with the staff and animals. Buggy tour was the best! I was under the impression the the pictures that our room had a bath, slightly disappointed but not a major issue. All in all, the positives far outweighed everything else
The hosts were terrific and the kids loved staying at the farm. Loved the buggy ride and with dinner ordered and delivered to our door this was a great stop over.
Cleanliness needs some work....
so we booked the lodge last minute on the way to Sydney. The host was helpful with providing late check in instructions and it was very easy. The lodge was empty so we had the whole house to ourselves. We did arrive late at night and went straight into bed. In the morning we tried cooking the breakfast with the provided groceries - the eggs in the fridge were covered with dead ants the whole kitchen had dead animals and flies everywhere and all equipment including the Cookware was very dirty. The stove are very old and wouldn’t warm up we did spend about half an hour on trying make eggs but we gave up in the end. The kettle was in awful condition didn’t really want to boil it so we didn’t have coffee too... Pretty disappointing Not what you expect to be getting for $170 felt like we were staying in a hostel
10 outta 10!
Perfect stop for the SYD - MEL trip with a family - the glamping tent was so much fun for our kids and the home cooked meal we ordered with very little notice was delicious!
Nice place for a stay just off the highway
The accommodation was very nice. We stayed on a very hot night. The room was nice and cool on arrival late. We enjoyed bacon and eggs, cooked on the bbq provided to us on the porch. Sadly, we didn’t stay long as there was bushfire smoke surrounding the area.
+hosts are very nice and pleasant +good place to stay as it is at the middle of the freeway -no internet access wifi nor the vodafone signal was working -noisy area due to freeway closiness -even do we were tired after the road trip we had an early woke up due to some motorcycle riders which were doing a lot of noise with their KTMs -perhaps the checkout should be extended until 12, this way you get the chance to sleep more and still have a morning round for visiting animals and take your time
We loved the stay but I found the noise from the highway too loud for my comfort levels.
Fantastic family stay
We stopped here on our way back from a trip to Victoria. Everything was catered for, with a nice breakfast left in your room to cook the next day and we ordered a delicious home made lasagne for dinner - made it so easy after the drive. The next day we took the best buggy ride to meet all the animals - a really great experience for the kids. I then discovered I'd left my watch there and the owners went out of their way to get it back to me asap - a fantastic place - we will be back!
Amazing! Except for the noise 👎
Amazing hosts and the safari tent was beautifully presented and wonderfully clean. Farm experience was great for the kids. The safari tent was very noisy from the traffic on the highway so unfortunately we weren’t able to sleep. The pool needed a clean too. We’d pick a different type of accom if we go back.
A variety of accommodation types, we stayed in the one-bedroom unit. This had a new and modern kitchen and bathroom, along with a separate bedroom and living room. A wonderful deck at the front was a great place to relax on after several hours of driving. Home cooked meals were delicious. There were young animals to be fed and eggs to be collected. A full sized tennis court was available too.
Amazing 2 nights...memorable in every way. Thank you
Brilliant farm stay
Brilliant host very clean and the best home cooked food in years would recommend to all
Give the motels a miss, stay here.
This was a great place to spend the afternoon and night as it was half way between Sydney and Melbourne. We were made to feel welcome on arrival by Rod and Raywyn. The cabin was very clean and was equipped with everything needed for our stay, including great country views. We even participated in the feeding of the alpacas, sheep, goats, chickens and a baby lamb named "May" thanks to Rod and Raywyn. Raywyn's home cooked meals, (delivered to our cabin), we're delectable. We would definitely stay again just for Raywyn's cooking and the hospitality. You must spend some time in the "Wool shed" at the property. Only one complaint. We didn't get to meet Ruth, everything was done electronically with her and this lacked the personal touch. Great stay, would highly recommend it thanks to Raywyn and Rod.
Farm stay plus
Straight off the Hume Hwy around the half way mark this is a great stop. Close to the Road but we hardly heard the traffic. Our unit was clean new modern and comfortable, the welcome warm and caring. One needs more than just the stop over on a journey between capitals to fully enjoy this farm stay and the area. Two nights or a week end would be good.
Great place for a stopover
Stopped overnight on the from syd to melb, lots to do for the kids.
The buggy ride was amazing, fed the cow with the head resting on your lap
Very quiet despite of it's proximity to the highway. Friendly staff and animals.
A great stop for the family!
A great set- up - ready to cater to kids. Pool was refreshing and the morning buggy ride was great for meeting the animals. The cabin was comfortable and hadn't everything we needed and we were pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the breakfast provided.
Midway between Sydney and Melbourne.
Our highlight was an evening “buggy” (ATV) ride across the ranch to spot kangaroos. Guests should be aware that the farm is rather remote even though it is next to a highway, so your options will be to prepare your own meals or travel quite a few kilometers for restaurant options.
I loved this experience for our family of five and our dog. It was so easy to find and we loved the pool. The farm experience was amazing. I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend.
Working farm with glamping
Glamping tent was great! The wind did come up during the night so the walls flapped a lot but that is all part of the experience. The working farm was a really good experience as well.
Farm aspect incl buggy ride for kids & bbq on porch
The site shows independent self contained units which is what we THOUGHT we booked as it is what was described when booking. However, AFTER booking we received a sms from the manager stating that the room was part of a SHARED facility. Unable to cancel so had to go. On arrival to the room, the entire common area smelt badly of tomato sauce and offensive cooking odors. Extremely disappointing given we paid $170 for the pro algae if a share house arrangement!! The room and en-suite however, were nice and clean. About 10pm we received another sms asking to unlock the doors so more guests could join the share house. The noise of more share house guests arriving was so noisy it woke us up.
Love a big open space to relax after a long drive. They also offer feeding of farm animals which is fab
Easy to miss the turn-off when driving from Melbourne.
Country Living
Excellent experience. Quiet, well appointed, spotless — we’d gladly make it a stopping place again.
Extremely hospitalble farm stay cottage
Warm and hospitable host yet given enough privacy with individual cottages within the farm. Woke up to the morning winter breeze and to a flock of llamas in front of our cottage. Awesome feeling !!
Great
Great place to stop over and recharge between Melbourne and Sydney.
Service beyond awesome!
We only spend the night on the way over to Melbourne so didn’t get to truly appreciate the location or the amenities; however, the responsiveness and friendliness of our hosts, coupled with the comfort and location, make this a must “come back” for us!
Farmstay
We got in late, had a cold, rainy night and left after a sleep in to keep driving so can't say too much other than it was warm inside, comfortable and there was plenty of breakfast.
Interesting farm stay
Spent two nights here as a base for a trip into Canberra. Really enjoyed the free tour of the property in a four wheel drive buggy to get a close view of the animals on the farm - Dorpa sheep, alpacas, cows and spotted plenty of kangaroos. Penny was our guide and she was a delight - very friendly and knowledgeable.
Very enjoyable stay with clean and comfortable lodging.
beautiful, relaxing and peaceful
Thank you Ruth for your hospitality! Your property is lovely, relaxing and we will be back.
Spacious comfortable room
Greeted within seconds of arrival and all expectations met visa ve the accommodation. Chops were tasty but a sauce of sorts would have embellished the chicken skewers. I believe modern kitchens should have paper towel available and it’s lack is my only criticism of the accommodation. If you are not accustomed to loud traffic noise, this may not be the most relaxing B&B as the highway sounds as if it runs right by your window once the sun has gone down. Large trucks seem to treat it like a race track anyway and the noise in the night is very loud to those of us accustomed to silence after dark.
Great location. Great place and breakfast was nice.
Quite location for good sleep and rest
Stayed in room with good ensuite bathroom and shared kitchen lounge. Great bathroom with good water pressure. very clean and own balcony which we used for dinner and breakfast. Good bacon, eggs and supplies. Purchased from manager local lamb chops and Shiraz. GREAT! Kitchen in the shared area not up to standard of accommodation. Stove is old and temp letters worn off so couldn't work out what temp we were cooking at. Draws and cupboards with kitchen gadgets and cutlery, plates and pots n pans a mess. Needs a little attention and replacement of broken items. This is the ONLY let down to the place. All very clean and neat. Will return to stay again when passing. :) Birds, Rabbits and Lamas seem to roam the farm and garden surrounding the complex, but a lot of the garden is overgrown, and a bit of weeding or spraying would assist the look of the place a lot.
quite rural location away from traffic noise
Arrived and checked in OK no problems. Got lamb chops for BBQ for $18 and a really great bottle of local Shiraz for $25. Room was good, but only one wine glass so we drank out of 'vegimite glasses'. The place was very clean, but a bit stark with no prints or drawings on walls. The breakfast was a treat. Very lean bacon shortcuts, nice eggs which we poached, toast and good jams and butter. The BBQ worked well. Liked it so much we have booked again to go back this Saturday on way home from Sydney to Melb. Peter
Quiet farmstay just off the hume
Our room was comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, as was the rest of our little apartment (living/ dining/ kitchen shared with another family). There was a coffee machine and breakfast which was a nice touch on our road trip. The only flaw was that when we arrived, we were locked out of the lodge, and had to wait quite a while to be let in. This was mostly our fault as we arrived quite late but we suggest a key safe with a code to prevent this from happening in the future.
Great little Farm stay complete Alpacas in the field. Super facilities for making dinner and the provided breakfast ingredients were much appreciated. Nice quiet location
Awesome surprise BnB experience
The Hillview Farmstay is much more than a place to stay, as it has so much more to offer. The BBQ which was prepared for us upon arrival was fun to do and delicious. Therw were kangaroos see, where Will was a fantastic guide, and alpacas along with a variety of farm animals. We also took advantage of the tennis court, but not the swimming pool during our short stay.
Comfortable with room for adventure
This was my second stay with the ever faithful dog. Very comfortable sitting on the deck looking out over the paddocks, little blue and red wrens hopping about. Watched the kids going on tours of the farm.
Amazing place
We really loved our stay, it’s a beautiful spot, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. It’s great to be able to order local food and wine, relax in the pool and enjoy the grounds. There are also Tesla destination chargers if you are lucky enough to have one of those! Will definitely stay there again
Country comfort
Loved driving in past the llamas. Options of arranging food to prepare in units, highly recommend lamb sausages! Rooms comfortable and have everything you need. Swimming pool was good place to relax and Jac the Dog was intrigued by the animals
The nicest place midway between Syd and Melb
A farmstay experience doesn't mean you have to "rough it out". Hillview provides a very clean and comfortable accommodation and my family enjoyed a relaxing break traveling between Sydney and Melbourne. The cottages are located about 1km off the Hume highway, so we didn't hear any traffic during the day or night. We had free use of the tennis court, and there is also a swimming pool, air hockey table, a communal fireplace and sofas area by the pool to relax in. The new owners, are very friendly. They can provide a 30min buggy ride around the property, upon request, to visit the farm animals for feeding. Our kids met and fed Daisy the cow who is very friendly. We highly recommend Hillview. We have stayed in other properties around the Gandagai area, and by far this place is the best. We will certainly be repeat customers.
Beautiful B & B Farmstsy
Excellent stop over or stay between Sydney and Melbourne or vice versa ,,Friendly manager Will was very contactable and lovely atmosphere , easily stay overnight or longer , we will defiantly stop in again
Great location - much better than a hotel room!
After a long day in the car my children loved the chance to swim, play tennis and explore. A visit from the alpacas topped off a lovely break!
wonderful views and country atmosphere
It was difficult to give a true assessment of our stay. Nature intervened, and we had a terrible thunderstorm during the night, that lasted for 2 hours. It knocked out some of the fuses on the electricity pole on the property, meaning we had no power, and no water due to pump being out of use till power was restored later in the day. This was in no way the fault of the management there, and Will, onsite manager, did all he could to make sure we were all comfortable. He went and bought lots of bottled water so that guests, particularly those with children, had water to drink. The views were wonderful, and it was lovely to see the animals just outside our cabin (behind the fence), especially the alpacas. Breakfast provisions were plentiful (eggs, bacon, juice, toast, spreads) and were included in the tariff.
Lovely stopover just difficult to find
Not well signposted especially northbound.stay was excellent very clean though a slight problem with stove, needs to be updated.. Had difficulty finding someone on arrival however eventually found Will who was exceptionally friendly snd helpful.
Something different
Great place for an overnight or 2 night stay either going to Sydney or Melbourne.
Peaceful countryside
What a lovely place. A place that I found myself instantly relaxed. It was encouraged by staff to go and explore the 900+ aches of land how you please. The kids were asked to help feed the animals, ride on the buggies and tracker. I could spend a few days there next time just to take it all in
Best stopover
Wonderful place to stay, if your looking for a stopover between Melbourne to Sydney wouldn't choose anywhere else. Had the best time with family, played tennis, bit cold for pool but would be pool in summer and went on tractor to see animals. Great dinner and breakfast supplied
Lovely greeting by Toby, the dog. Lovely rooms.
Would love to have stayed longer - but it was an overnight stay en route from Jamieson to Newcastle. The bedrooms were so inviting, The house was well furnished and we loved the country atmosphere. Thank you!
Awesome farmstay
Excellent stay, will be back
Luxury in the bush.
Travelling from Victoria to Queensland on a family holiday we stayed here overnight. Headed off early the next morning on our journey. The place was so good we wished we had planned to stay longer. Well worth it.
Perfefct overnight resting spot
We're driving from Melbourne to Sydney and wanted break the journey in the middle. Hillbiew Farmhouse was right there on highway. We honestly didn't expect much but WOW! What a beautiful and quiet place with everythig we need and clean! It was a perfect resting spot overnight. The hosts were very kind. We did a walk over the hill, watching the sheep and cows over the sunset. Highly recommend to anyone who's driving between Syd and Melb.
Great place to stop between Sydney and Melbourne
The staff at Hillview were very accommodating. We were arriving late but they were very understanding. They were also great in giving additional instructions on how to find the farm. The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable, exceptional accommodation.
Very pretty farm stay in a hilly area.
Very relaxing, a well equipped cabin, fresh eggs & bacon & other goodies supplied for breakfast. Very clean and a comfortable bed. Our dog enjoyed walking around the farm.
Fantastic overnight stay.
We have stayed at Hillview farmstay 4 times. Just love this overnight stop on our way down from the Gold Coast to visit our daughter in Victoria. Fantastic service, very friendly hosts, great breakfast, which you can cook yourself and great value for money. Our little puppy was welcome also, She slept happily in her bed out side on the covered verandah. There was some highway noise but we fell asleep quickly and had a great nights sleep. We always recommend this place to family and friends. Thank you to the hosts for a great stay once again.
Beautiful views
Stayed one night with little dog. The views were amazing, disappointed we didn't arrive early. Great location. Breakfast was a nice addition. It was wonderful to have the comfort of nice big bed, cosy couch and all the facilities and amenities in this cottage. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
Great place to stay
We had a great one night stop at hillview farmstay. We even got to feed some of the animals. One night wasn't long enough to enjoy the great facilities
Nice place in the bush
Lovely place with a warm welcome. Noisier with highway, than expected. Unit well equipped but would have like cloth or t towel for basics
Hillview Farmstay | Hotel in Mount Adrah | Travala.com
The place was peaceful and ha ing a very clean accommodations. Hostess was awesome......
