Loved our stay!
Beautiful and historic, perfect location. We were greeted and given a very early check in after an 18 hr day of flying. Accommodations are in wonderful condition. We missed our check out time and again, they were very accommodating and allowed us the extra time to get our things together. Restaurant is fabulous; great oysters and live music. Will stay there again!
The decor on the outside is very appealing to the eye however, the rooms are very outdated. The fridge in my room made a constant bang noise every three hours. The curtains do not block out any light and if you have a room facing towards the car park building you can hear all the noise from the cars throughout the night. The room doesn't have any aircon apart from an old fan. The couch in the room also had a couple of stains. The restaurant doesn't have buffet so very limited selection. I went for a swim once and only stayed in the pool for a limited time when I saw the amount of grime in the pool and could feel it on the bottom of my feet. I also used the gym, and a lot of the equipment is squeaking due to rust. On a positive note, the large bed was comfy, and the location is great for walking distance to many attractions.
Lovely welcome at reception and amazingly huge suite. A little old fashioned but comfortable. Convenient central location. Paid parking in several places around the hotel. Enjoyed our dinner in the bar: great service and the food and wine were excellent.
Clean and comfortable rooms. Will stay again.
Beautiful historic building , highly recommend the restaurant for breakfast and an evening meal .
We enjoyed the location & old world charm of the building
Comfortable bed and pillows. Good facilities.
The Heritage is a beautiful and classy hotel with all the amenities. It features high ceilings, elegant stairs and spacious suites. We lived it.
Excellent
confortable and nice good breakfast nice staff … overall very good
Loved the building and comfortable two bedroom, nice staff!
Enjoy the stay
Spacious room
The room is very spacious. It may feel dark, however everything you need is there. Staff in the reception are very friendly
Excellent location, friendly staff
It was a joy staying in this hotel. Quiet, comfortable, with wonderful amenities, and all the equipment one needs on a trip.
As a Heritage hotel, it is in a historic building which gives it charm. Whilst the carpet and furniture and fixtures are dated, nothing about the hotel is dirty so it was still comfortable. The reception staff were excellent and really helped us have a relaxed stay from the outset
Old world grandeur
A gorgeous hotel with old world feeling, but comfortable and spacious. Great dining options/bar downstairs
Very nice hotel. Wonderful room with all the furnishings and supplies one would like. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location.
A bit disappointing
A bit tired the apartment. Did not feel too clean although the bedding was fine. Daily room service was minimal. Beds only made and towels replaced. Tumble Dryer did not work, although they offered an alternative for drying a load of wet clothes
Great rooms. Friendly staff. Nice place to stay
Great Hotel & Bar, amazing Heritage Building, very close to Shopping & Bars Will stay again
Just a lovely place to stay

Loved the Heritage; just a little loud as on the tram line/tram parked behind - but this added to the experience. Amazing staff.
Only problem was the very soft beds - prefer a firm bed
.
Convenient location
Always enjoy staying here so central to shops, restaurants, Riverside Market and the river. Particularly lovely at this time of the year with all the cherry blossoms out!
I've stayed here twice and both occasions have been amazing. The spa is a real treat.
Very good spot . It feels a little bit like a Museum because it’s an old building . I stayed in a two bedroom apartment and it’s not easy with the stairs to go up with the luggage. I was not offered help with the bags . The staff was nice though . Nice and clean facilities. Very close to the convention center and nice shopping and restaurants.
Loved our stay here n the history of the building.
Heritage
Great position, easy walking distance to anything you require. Restaurants, shopping centres. Excellent pub on site which also does room service. Large rooms with full kitchen and excellent range of tv options if its raining outside which it does a lot! Haha
Building a little bit tired. One of our bathrooms flooded every time we used the shower. Pool facility is fantastic. Staff lovely when there... reception had a sign up several times while we were there
Nice place to stay but lots of noise fron the room above..ruined the stay.
Close to shops and Riverside Market. Spacious apartment ideal for our needs.
This is such a beautiful heritage building in the centre of Christchurch. The building itself is worth the visit. OGB bar in front of the hotel offers great value and wonderful, knowledgeable service staff. The staff at the hotel were welcoming, subdued and so willing to help. We loved our 2 night stay here.
We will definitely come back
This is a very old lady, with all the best features still. Our room was very very spacious, lovely and warm. We were in the middle of the CBD and could walk anywhere.. They quickly got our car whenever we needed it. Bed was very cosy and comfortable.
Was a lovely surpruse
Beautiful building
Elegant hotel in the heart of Christchurch CBD
Elegant hotel in the heart of Christchurch CBD
super cool building
The hotel is very nice, it is a very well maintained heritage building with modern features inside. We love the pool and spa as it is very convenience to have the internal access to the facilities. The location is perfect and easy to walk to everything. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. :)
Lovley hotel, great staff but need a couple more beer options ie Corona, Heineken 😊
Interior was awesome
Lovely place to stay
The hotel is a historic building that was renovated. It is really beautiful.
3 night stay.
The Heritage is in a great position in Christchurch being close to eateries, shops and attractions. Easy walking distance to bus terminal. Our room was very spacious with fully equipped kitchenette. The bed was comfortable and the shower great. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Not easy to take luggage in. Stairs upon entry. Rooms were great. Spacious and clean
Great location in a beautifully old building.
Great location, great hotel and staff, close to transport and eating places. Will definitely stay here again when in Christchurch.
Best classic hotel i have been to. 2nd time there, will always go back when in christchurch.
Beautiful historical building in a great location. Would definitely recommend.
A fabulous lication with a traditional suite. Well equipped and great size. Furnishings are a bit tired but we loved our stay
Hotel with character, amenities and good servive.
Great accommodation in a very large suite. Well appointed, good quality. Friendly staff, valet parking, well equipped gym and lap pool. Great character building inside and out. Will use it agsin.
Excellent location and layout. Good service from front desk, including the parking. Would have been nice to have a hand towel in the kitchen. Also did not vacuum behind the bathroom door during our stay. We would stay there again.
Nice staff
Such a grand hotel, beautiful in it’s history and architecture.
Lovely old building, but needs some TLC.
The Hotel is in the Old Government Building so it is a lovely old building very grand with high ceilings, but that does bring its own challenges, no air conditioning being a case in point.
We loved our stay at the Heritage Christchurch! It exceeded expectations, with the spacious suite and beautiful historic building. Valet parking was super easy right outside, staff were lovely and the location was really handy - just five minutes or so to great dining options. We plan to be back!
What a lovely period building this is. A real treat to stay there. Super staff and great ambience.
Lovely and quaint old hotel with good in room amenities. Great location. Pulling up to check in is a bit tricky by car. Better directions on website by hotel might be helpful.
An exceptional and beautiful property! The staff went out of their way to help with baggage and answer questions.
great room, great hotel. The whole place is really nice for the price
Lovely character hotel
Less than my expectations
Hotel and staff was amazing. Restaurant staff was not as accommodating when asked for a side of butter-they said kitchen does not do that and said no.
Brilliant location.
Easy to access Great suite accommodated 4 very easily, with lounge and kitchen and 2 bedrooms. Very grand old building.
Poor service
The hotel has a definite vintage feel to it, with retro styled furniture in an old government building. The location is excellent, right across the street from shops and the ticket office for tours. The room was actually a 2 bedroom 2 floor apartment with a full kitchen, seating area, dining area and laundry machines. Note though, as an older building it is not wheelchair accessible; no ramps, just stairs (there is a lift once you get inside, but you have to get up the stairs to get in). Would be a great place to stay for a family or group travelling together.
A great place to stay
A great place to stay
Not so great
Very, very tired rooms. Bed sags in middle, pubic hairs and other debris in bathroom. Lounge was filthy and stained and so uncomfortable. So much construction and road works around the property.
Beautiful character Property situated in a good location
Great hotel and location but under renovations so no breakfast on site and construction outside was annoying
Awesome place, nice and convenient location.. real heritage building.. We liked it so much. Will stay again if come back to Christchurch.
Great location, handy to the river precinct. Beautiful old building. Suite was huge and beds comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.
It was a peaceful sanctuary
Hugely spacious, well appointed and well located luxury suites. Great value for money. We will definitely book and stay again. Ps We loved all the heritage of the Heritage Hotel
loved the old sytle architecture, large room with upstairs bedrooms.
Great place nice and central in historic building. An additional sofa in the living area would be a useful addition.
Great place to stay for a family of 4, heaps of space, warm and quiet. Loads of character and very close to everything. Staff were all super friendly and helpful.
I will stay here again. I confused the woman at reception by asking to make sure I had a Queen bed (she saw this as a "downgrade") – not, as I like to call them, a “fake King”. This is where they push two singles together and put something over the top. This may be fine for two people but it’s somewhat irritating for the solo traveller who likes to sleep in the middle… My other request was for a quiet room – which I know is a bit of an ask in the centre of the city. Worked out pretty well. I love the loft bedroom/bathroom layout – as it means “elephants” (usually children) in the room above stop thumping directly overhead once they go up to bed themselves. Do put the heating on even when you aren’t there – because it will make a big difference in overall comfort (took me a while to figure that out - I was trying to save power). The hot water was great and there was adjustable pressure for the shower as w3ell as plenty for the bath. Bed was comfy – and a tv up there as well. I even made use of some of the kitchen facilities (mainly the fridge and the microwave). Lovely building (I even read the guide provided) and awesome location. Highly recommend.
It was very clean but being dated or a historical property, it will be hard to say spotless.
Overall a really nice hotel to stay at however when it comes time to close the curtains for sleep, the street lights reach inside our room so not very dark at all which was hard to get to sleep. Other than that everything else was excellent, thanks.
Very centrally located, easy walk to most attractions. Lots of redevelopment in the area as expected.
I LOVED this hotel! The building is beautiful and the room set up is so nice. The bed was coffee and enjoyed the lounge area. I am thankful the staff told me, to lock my door manually, because I would have forgotten. It was a great location and super walkable. The laundry in the suite was an added bonus as well. I can't wait to go back.
Unfriendly & rude reception on arrival No breakfast options in house
We loved the hotel, its uniqueness and character. Beautiful property, great service.
The room didn't have air conditioning and it was a very hot day
Great location and suites are perfect for a family stay.
Massive room which felt like a whole house. It was really great to be able to walk around the city from this central location. As it is heritage there is no air con so we had to rely on a fan when it was warm. Could be a problem if it gets really hot, but maybe that won’t happen in this old stone building. Very impressive staircase and old safes to add to the ambiance. I did not like paying extra for parking, but there was not that much choice in the city.
Property is such a beautiful old Grand hotel
The lone staff person went out of her way to be pleasant and helpful! The property is obviously under staffed by most standards, but you could not tell it by the attitude and helpfulness of the staff. Kudos! I loved the quaintness of the old building. If there are repairs needed, it is to the swimming pool/fitness area, as it is showing it’s age.
The 2 bedroom suite comes with 2 toilet, complete with all essentials including washing machine and dryer. Do note that there is a sign to remind everyone not to use it after 10pm although I wish I can do that.
Lovely hotel with old world charm. Quiet and spacious. Located close to many good restaurants!
It’s always great to stay at the Heritage Christchurch
Wonderful property, the room I got was not as well laid out as some of the others but no issues.
Grand hotel with pool and sauna
Lovely, very grand hotel, a bit dated and shabby in the room but spacious and very comfortable beds. Loved the pool, spa and sauna, we used them daily. Great central location
Very central good size room
Old world charm. Spacious rooms.

Pleasantly Surprised
We were impressed by the French/ European decor & ambiance.
