The hotel is central and well situated where Ben Yehuda meets Jaffa Street with excellent transport links. We found the staff to be very pleasant and very helpful (especially Tamir on reception) and check in/out was straightforward. Our bedroom was clean, good sized and well appointed. There is a warm, decent sized swimming pool in the basement and a small gym (though I must confess to being defeated by the multipurpose exercise machines!) There is a good sized lounge area on the entrance floor and an extensive breakfast available in the rooftop restaurant. There is a drinks bar in the lounge area but I would have preferred that snacks could be made available there also (I think they sometimes are). All in all, our stay here was a very pleasant experience

Hidden gem in Jerusalem. Great location, great room, very good breakfast, great view from dining room. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great location

1. Did not receive the complimentary bottle of wine as promised. 2. The hotel was completely empty, yet I was told there were no available upgrades. I was assured my room was the best they had, which is simply untrue as their website clearly shows better options. 3. On the first night, I called the main office to request the heat be turned on. They said they would handle it, but they didn’t. I woke up in a freezing room and ended up catching a cold. 4. Overall, the staff’s attitude was dismissive and unprofessional, making me feel undervalued as a guest.

a visit to Jerusalem

From the moment I arrived, I felt welcome. Beautiful lobby and great location. Easy walk to many historic locations. Breakfast on the top floor with views of the city. Superb Housekeeping!!

Really nice hotel. Breakfast amazing. Good service. Was upgraded to a delux room with bit more space. Rare find in jlem with stunning indoor pool. Only gripe is the lack of onsite parking so had to pay externally every time. And the carpark nearby that has an arrangement (20% discount for guests) closes at 11pm so if you miss that deadline you have to go elsewhere without discount.

Great hotel in the heart of Jersualem. Access by car was slightly tricky, and involved a short walk, but the hotel itself was fabulous.

Slept well and was very comfortable. Breakfast was great and location is convenient to everything.

Staff was friendly and the room was large. The shower was big enough for four people. A bottle of wine and fruit awaited. Breakfast buffet was huge. Had a relaxing massage at the health spa. Would stay again.

Amazing location... Is not enough

The staff is friendly, the hotel is in decent shape and the location is right at the center of everything which is amazing. However you are not supposed to feel like people in the street are with you in the room when you are on the 8th floor. Any self respecting hotel would have soundproof windows. Service was ok though we asked the safe to be opened and nobody came... Overall a nice hotel and the beds are very comfortable but not recommended if you're a light sleeper because it's very noisy outside until late at night.

Shows signs of age but still among the top in town

My third or fourth stay at this hotel and unfortunately it is not keeping the quality it offered in previous stays. Staff is friendly and helpful but the facility maintenance is not keeping up. Noisy aircon, broken sensor in elevator. Water faucet at public toilet wobbly. Yet - the location is great. Plenty of entertainment, attractions and food within walking distance. Beautiful vista from dining room at 11th floor and a great breakfast buffet. Spa and pool at the basement. Spa offers treatments alas a small basement pool isn’t much fun.

Excellent Hotel

The location and the service at this hotel is excellent. Parking is available at a lot close to the hotel. The food is excellent.

Amazing

Overall great stay we enjoyed the location. It was a lot to do at that location which made it very convenient for us. Did not have to take any type of extra transportation. Also great food areas around. The staff was great. They helped us out on any and everything we asked for. we definitely recommend and we would stay there again.

Great location

Amazing location. Really a classy hotel. An island of calm in a sea of excitement. They even sent us a welcome wine bottle on arrival. Loved it

Sterile, sterile, sterile. Facilities are nice, place is clean, bed comfortable. Towels and bath supplies a bit second rate. Unhelpful, unfriendly staff -- lugged my own suitcases whole they just stood there and watched. No one smiled, no one said hello. Nothing special here.

This hotel was in a great location and the staff was very helpful. I’ll book here again.

I LOVED this hotel! The room was great - absolutely, totally quiet, clean, very comfortable, with an espresso machine and tea kettle, robe and slippers. The hotel spa and gym are terrific - well-equipped, clean, lovely. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful with everything. The location couldn't be better - lots of cafes, shopping, transportation everywhere. My only small criticism is that the breakfast buffet, while abundant, was not as well-stocked as some other five star hotels - though I only had time for breakfast one day out of my seven at the hotel. It's definitely my new favorite hotel in Jerusalem and I can't wait to return!

Great location

Best location in the city, close to the old city but also very close to many restaurants and shops. Service is quite curt, but that seems to be normal in Israel. Could use a renovation, rooms and public spaces are looking tired. Gym is small but adequate. More like a 4 star than a 5 star property. Note that the hotel does not have road access - if you have a car, park beforehand at the lot identified on the hotel’s website.

Family one night stay

The stay it self was great ! we really enjoyed it, the food was also amizaing !

This is a great hotel to stay at. I was there an entire week and the room was cleaned every day, the staff were very cordial, and it’s a 5 minute walk to Mamilla Mall. I read some reviews that make me wonder if they actually stayed there. Oh and the breakfast menu was super fresh and beautifully laid out.

The location is fantastic and the Herbert Samuel chain are clean, sleek and professional.

I had high expectations for this hotel from all the reviews I read. I booked 3 rooms for our stay as we were traveling with our son and a friend. We had to check in twice. The first time was an hour before the rooms were made available and then once they were we were asked to check in again. Despite my trying to tell the reception staff that this had already been done, he rudely stopped me from speaking and told me he was doing his job. I eventually called the previous staff member who checked me in who sorted our the situation. But no apology, they just argued amongst themselves and carried on. Liked: Area, location is close to everything. 15-mins to the Wall, 5 mins to market, 4 stops from main rail station. You can't get better than that. The hotel is old school but it's clean and quiet (we were on the 10th Floor) Disliked: staff (my experience, may be different another time), room was very small, no coffee pods for the machine, aircon was super loud. I think there are many other great options in JLM at this price and we would probably explore those the next time we visit.

Very Pleased

A very nice hotel in a great location. A few minutes walk to the Old City's Jaffa Gate. A great nighttime vibe right outside the hotel.

The area was amazing, the room no, very small beds, room was dirty, the cleaning staff came very late and made a terrible job .

The hotel was in a great location, a 10 minute walk to the New Gate of the Old City. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was serviced daily and kept clean and the a/c worked very well. Room was a little smaller than we expected but otherwise it was a wonderful stay

Excellent value for a truly luxury hotel

Absolutely beautiful, luxury and affordable hotel, that far exceeded my expectations based on some of the reviews on here. The service was exemplary, people were friendly, responsive, and very helpful, especially with getting my luggage from my car in the parking lot and then back. A lot of it has been written about the parking situation, and it’s not that big of a deal. There’s a parking garage exactly one block away from the hotel, which was convenient and not too expensive. The hotel bent over backwards to assist me with my luggage during check in and check out which made it much less of a hassle. The location is unmatched. It’s right off of Ben Yehuda street and beautiful Nachlat Shiva. The gym is well, equipped and clean, the pool was beautiful and warmly heated, and the steam room and sauna was excellent. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The staff was very helpful and easy to deal with. The hotel is conveniently located to restaurants and shops. The hotel people made our stay very pleasant and really helped us figure out our way around town.

I had the most wonderful stay here. Everything from the staff at the reception , to the housekeeping staff, and the doorman were so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help make this a wonderful stay. The room was spacious and clean. The food on the Friday night was delicious . I could not recommend it highly enough and will definitely be back again . Thank you to everyone . Nothing was too much trouble for anyone . Outstanding hotel x

Superior room was 12’-1” x 12’-5”. At least they billed it as such and told me I don’t know how to measure a room. From front desk to hotel manager, lies and excuses.

Nice Hotel in the Heart of Jersualem

Very nice hotel. Walking distance to heart of Jerusalem and the Old City. Hotel does not have parking, but their are public lots 20 yards away from the hotel.

The hotel is centrally located with easy access to the entire city by foot or public transportation. The rooms and amenities are excellent.

Terrible the staff was not friendly! The breakfast because of the sabbath and next Sunday was terrible nothing offered as the day before. All hot products are taken away only cold cuts and pastries are offered. The hotel needs to be refurbished!

Property was clean and the staff were professional!

We stayed for two weeks and loved it. Breakfasts are amazing. The staff is so friendly and always willing to help. Cleaning staff was incredible and attentive. We will be staying here on all our visits to Jerusalem.

Enjoyed our stay. Excellent location and wonderful service

We tried calling the front desk before our stay multiple times with no response. We had to park far from the hotel because there was no where to park by the hotel or a way to access the front of hotel by car just bring in our luggage. There were mosquitoes at night and we couldn’t sleep so we called the front desk at 3 am and they said they will send someone over.., which was a knock at 10 am… after a night of no sleep. We told front desk in the morning about our night they just shrugged it off.

Checking in was easy and fast. Everything I requested was meet. Very clean and comfortable hotel! Amazing stay

I stayed before, made same room reservation but room was bigger. check emails did not make sense and were bothersome as they came twice a day and no reply was given when questions were asked.

Location

Very nice hotel. Excellent location. Room was comfortable. With a bit more tweaking by the staff this could be a top hotel. Need to pay attention to the finer details; e.g. cleanliness, towels on the gym, etc. we had some minor issues which Fadi resolved.

Over Priced and Under-Delivers

The hotel staff was rude, the rooms were outdated and it felt like a 2 star hotel but with the 5 star price. I probably would not repeat.

Great location between Old City and Shops/Yehuda market. Also very near Jaffa St tram. Area is know for music, but this stops around 11pm. Nice hotel with a good pool too.

Amazing location. Good service and breakfast! Don’t check in online as you automatically get charged VAT. This wasn’t clear so the hotel tried to refund me and couldn’t. Needs to be a 2 week wait. Still a good experience and would go back but be careful!

Mostly clean room but the building is a bit dated, so is the carpet and floors. Staff were all very helpful. Steam room, sauna, and swimming pool looked amazing. Too bad we only had one night there and didn't have a chance to use them. Location is excellent for convenience but taxi cannot get to front door. Need to walk around corner

Beautiful hotel in perfect location. Super nice room and really clean. Unfortunately the staff ( with some exceptions) were not friendly or helpful- even asking for something little seemed to bother them. I would rather stay in a less smart hotel where at least the staff seems willing to help, are smiling and kind!

The location was superb. Room was comfortable. Cleanliness was good. Some of the staff at desk and bar were very nice but not all. Just offered a buffet breakfast, no other option. Overall a nice hotel. Very nice street(no cars slowed).

This is definitely not a five star hotel. It was extremely dirty with bad customer service. I had reservation for five nights, but I had to check out after two nights and it took about a week after that to get my refund for the three nights.

We enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Extensive breakfast buffet centered around Israeli cuisine. Hotel location is excellent with two exceptions -- no parking and taxis cannot get closer than one block to the entrance because of traffic restrictions.

Very clean Rooms

Fantastic location

Overall first class, staff generally very helpful, very comfortable, lovely if small pool and loungers and spa facilities. Superb Friday night dinner. Location could not be better.

The hotel is well situated to walk to the old city (20 minutes) and Mamilla Mall (10 minutes) as well as numerous restaurants and shops. Service was excellent (especially Carlos at the front desk).

The Herbert Samuel is a wonderful place to stay. Its location cannot be beat if you want to be in the heart of Jerusalem. If you need to park a car - this place is not for you. However, if you like to walk and if you do not mind a short two-block hike to where you can easily fetch taxis or Ubers if you need them, the Herbert Samuel cannot be beat.

Very nice central location

Great location. Walkable to nearby shops. Staff was friendly and helpful. Was disappointed with the condition of the room and hallways. The bathroom was new and updated but the room had a dirty carpet and the coffee machine as well as mini fridge were dirty and stained. The carpets leading up to the room were filthy and it gave the hotel a very bad look.The windows which were facing the street were covered in a thick layer of dirt so you couldn't enjoy the view if there was any. For a deluxe room it was sadly tiny. The hotel needs to upgrade their furnishings and replace dirty and stained carpets gives the hotel a 2 star feel instead of the 5 star hotel it should be.
