Disappointing valentine night out.
After checking in at reception ,we went to the room. Immediately we opened the room there was this unpleasant damp smell. We phoned reception to tell them and to request for another room. We were told that the rooms are the same, all have carpets. We checked out without sleeping or staying in the room.
Family Stay
The hotel was clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Rooms are outdated and need a revamp from carpets through to furniture and bathrooms. Pool and gardens are well kept. Be prepared to wait a while for pool towels as they were never available at reception the 3 times we needed them... Breakfast was not great but had the necessary components to get by. Coffee was dispensed in an urn and tasted stale at every breakfast seating. Chef during weekday duty overstuffed the omlet and did not take orders correctly... Overall an average experience at a fair price.
Central for business. Clean. Friendly staff
Our stay at Hazyview Sun !
Our stay at the hotel was superb except that the bathroom door was broken and was never fixed for the duration of our stay. Nevertheless the bedding was clean and always attractive. Thank you so much for the ever welcoming staff at your reception and dining hall. Good work, keep it up.That was stunning !
I liked everything
Pleasently peaceful.
Our stay with our family n friends was amazing, absolutely friendly stuff. The place was kid friendly aswell. Peaceful wth lovely green trees n flowers. We loved every moment.
This property is a gem in a haystack - well situated for driving to Kruger, yet near to most amenities in town. Rooms were clean, food in the restaurant, while basic, was good, and the highlight for us was really the staff. Everyone was very friendly - from Nomi at check in, to Margaret at the breakfast, to the morning and gate staff. Also, a shout out to the housekeeping staff - they were consistent and did a noticeable job. Price was right, staff was friendly, and we'd stay here again if we/when we come back. One caution though - while the rooms are nice, the word "suite" is a bit generous. Those rooms are just bigger to accommodate a table or couch. The pictures are accurate, but WYSYWYG.
The staff is amazing and friendly. Hotel itself has old furnishings and meals just regular
Disappointing dinner and breakfast buffets
Their dinner buffet was extremely disappointing, it would have been better to eat at the local restaurant. Breakfast on our first day was marvellous and the service on point. But on Sunday morning it was packed and clearly they are unable to plan or accommodate a bigger audience without compromising service. The breakfast on Sunday was underwhelming, dry, unpalatable, no variety. Do not stay there during peak times because they can't handle large crowds
Paradise!!!
The property was beautiful!!! The staff very kind and attentive. The room was comfortable but a bit musty. After running the AC it got better. You need a car to get around as the nearest grocery store or restaurant is a few miles away. Breakfast was incredible! They even have to go breakfast bags if you need to leave early for a tour:)
The toilet was linking, we can only watch SABC news . Staff was friendly.
Thatch roof was leaking in our room. Rooms need to be modernised. Needs to be a separate shower not a shower in the bath. Do not need the baths in the rooms. Staff were very nice and polite. Buffet breakfast was good Lovely little cozy pub inside the property
Location, pool access & scenery. Didn’t like closing doors To the restaurant while people Still eating.
Home away from home
The trip was amazing, visited so many places. If you love nature, that's the place to go to. Natural pools and its cleaned naturally no chemicals added just clean running water from the mountains that goes through the forest. The hotels was so amazing with clean sheets, rooms kept clean, all the houses have airconditioner
Amazement holiday spots of Mpumalanga
I had a great time there with my partner who later in our way home completented your staff kindness and generosity. That was my third visit down there, and your staff remarkable service never subside but instead it improves all the time. The service within the poolside from Bab' Sias and the lady whom he was training was one of the best service i could highlight. Your remarkable catering staff and waiters team work hardwork cannot be overlooked as they each try by all means to maintain the remarkable high standard each whwther it was breakfast or dinner time. Well i am going to be visiting again within 2020
Good place to stay
It is a very nice hotel, however outdated. It would be nice for the price it is to see it modernized a bit. It is perfect if you have pre-arranged safaris, I would recommend with Getyourguide. I would tell them that they need to kick up their breakfast if you are leaving early in the morning, as they gave yogurt, etc unrefrigerated, and some strange food options. But, if you are around for the normal breakfast (not going on a safari) then it is excellent! I felt a little bit insecure that the guards just opened up the gate for me every-time with no questioning, even the first time, while I went to go visit my friends at other hotels nearby all seemed to have their security guards be very through, question everyone, etc. It would add more security.
Durban Traveller
We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. Both the TV and shower needed attention it was sorted out quickly. Sboniso in the Dining Room was most helpful. In all our travels both local and overseas he was the best.
Family Break
The buffet price is a bit pricey for the quality and choice of food presented.
It is a very good property. Had a decent choice of food and drinks (not vegetarians). The room size and view was very nice. The comfort level was high. It definitely lives up to the expectations of a Marriott hotel.
Well priced but could do better
Hotel was ok good, well priced, however internet barely worked in the common areas didn’t work at all in the rooms, food was very average in the restaurant! Grounds of the hotel were very well maintained, room was also very spacious for a family room and well kitted our.
Very unhappy customer
I canceled my resevation!!!! We were not even there!!!!! I am very unhappy and will tell everybody about it!! I called three times!!!!
Breakfast was good. No gift or sundries shop was not good. Uneven brick sidewalks was not good. No Internet access in room was not good. Front door was so sticky; not good. Bathroom lighting was dim; not good. Mosquitoes but no screens on windows; sliding door to patio, no screens; not good. Staff pleasant and helpful.
The people, a great staff. The service was excellent and the meals were very good, with a great variety of choses!
The property was great, service excellent, tended to your every need. Unfortunately a long walk to our room, my husband has difficulties with long walks, room we booked for 2 other family had leak in thatch above ones bed, dropping in dozens bugs drawn to light. But they immediately moved them to another room. I would definitely recommend to everyone that would come this way!
My family and I had a pleasant stay here, despite some difficulties. I booked a large “family room” on Expedia but was given the wrong type of room at check-in. After 6 hours of traveling to get to the hotel, my exhausted family and I checked into the room the front desk gave us and we immediately noticed it was the wrong one. When I inquired with the front desk, they said their reservations team did not ask the property to reserve the correct room type matching my online reservation. The man at the front desk was quite apologetic (yet his hands were tied, as the room I’d actually paid for was no longer available), so he allowed us to see another room (still a downgrade but slightly larger) and we eventually switched rooms. Check-in hassles aside, the other problems we had were with the hotel's smelly carpets and bugs everywhere (I know it’s close to the bush, but a Marriott can’t be having dead bugs in the shower, millipedes on dark carpeting, and flying ants all over the restaurant at night). On the flipside, the staff were always friendly (especially Nomsa at the restaurant!), the pool and restaurant areas were gorgeous (particularly in the holiday season), and the hotel restaurant had good buffets. Ultimately, I would recommend this hotel but would say CALL before you arrive, so you can ensure that the room type you’ve reserved online is the room type the property has reserved for your arrival. And I hope the hotel does some facility upgrades based on customer feedback!
Great experience
Amazing stay..friendly staff. Excellent food.
Hotel was comfortable for the family.
Biggest tip: get to the breakfast room as early as possible.
Very dirty rooms. Rotten smell in the refrigerator, mold in the bathroom, food spattered on walls in various places and rats in the ceiling and walls of our room. The rest of the hotel was nice, food excellent, staff very friendly overall.
It was a good stay and the rooms are very spacious... good for 3 person
Value for money
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. The buffet breakfast and buffet dinner were superb. Highy recommended hotel!
Below expected standard
The air-conditioning didn't work, there was no hair-dryer (it was delivered on request), the bathroom door did not close; the pillow were awful - too bulky & hard. The dinner in the restaurant was not acceptable. Our room was an unacceptable walking distance from the main reception area and we were not offered any help with our luggage
Easy access to the Kruger National Park
A good stop off for those entering the Kruger National Park. Convenient, clean & comfortable. Did not try the restaurant, breakfast buffet was average
Well located. Restaurant coyld be better
The location is excelent close to the gate of Kruger Park, many places to viist in the vicinity. Not central quire place. Only carpet could be removed from the room.
Great staffroom for improvement.
It was good. The breakfast and dinner we had could do with some improvements including the seating area; was very outdated. Wifi was limited.
Lovely surroundings and staff was helpful at all times in making arrangements for our safari trip and airport transfer. Buffet dinners quite nice. We had a family room overlooking the hills. Fantastic view. Overall our stay was just wonderful.
Amazing
Had an amazing time at Protea hotel, the service was excellent, staff were friendly and accommodating. All my special request were attended to since it was my Fiances birthday. There's also shuttle service to the Kruger which is convenient. Will definitely book again.
Hazyview magic
Amazing holiday with friendly staff
We had a comfortable stay
We were booked for room only for one night. The hotel met our requirements. A very large room, very dimly lit which was clean and comfortable.
Avoid Protea Hotels
Such a let down!!! We got a room with no Mountain view instead our view was onto the next row of rooms. Bugs were falling onto our bed from the beam above the bed. It was so bad, that we had to move the bed away to another part in the room! We ordered room service one afternoon to eat at the bar area. After waiting for 90 minutes we cancelled the order! Our complaints to staff and management were met with shrugged shoulders and even cheekyness in one instance. Bad service, bad food! Over all a bad experience! We will definitely NOT visit any Protea Hotel ever again!
I have stayed (business purposes) at many other Protea Hotels this was the worst of all. The first room smelt of vomit. Thankfully the manager was kind enough to move us to another room. Room 4 was better than room 82, however the carpets had a bad odour.
Good room, poor food
Excellent bedroom in an attractive hotel with nice gardens. Booking said we would have mountain view - instaed we had view of other bedrooms. Evening buffet in restaurant was very poor, breakfast a bit better but not great. Hotel is several kilometres out of town so limited alternative options for evening meal and it lets the place down.
Expect more from a sizeable hotel group
Friendly staff doesn't equal service ... they need training and lots of it. Food was particularly bad. Response to requests was staggeringly poor. Got woken up with a phone call at 6am to tell us that the tea cups we requested the afternoon before were at our door.
Great if you have a quit room
Nice setting, overlooking a valley. Rooms 1-60 very noise as close to street. Aksum for room numbers higher than 61. they call it "outlooking".
Perfect holiday destination
It was a great holiday for us, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious..
hazy view weekend
we enjoyed the stay tv programs bad why not full dstv
Great hotel
My partner and I had a positive experience. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
okay
Hotel is very clean. Family room was a very size. Disappointed that Wi-fi was not available in the bedrooms. Staff not very friendly and in general lack good customer service.
Paul de carvalho
Breakfast was a bit disappointing since not enough variety for halal people. Hot water was an issue as well. Not the greatest
Protea Hazy veiw
The food needs to be much better.... Very limited options in the menu.
Below Expectations
Was below my expectations, especially being part of the Protea group. Definitely needs a lot of attention from the management and especially Protea hotels group.
Good for low price
Was good, best enjoyed if you book tour vehicles. Driving around didn't totally work out for us, and rainy weather made it sour.
Loved the hotel, the only item that was missing was a small fridge
Family room was thatched roof and dirt fell from roof onto bed.
Most of the lights in our room did not work. Dust and spider webs was visible in the corners and edges of the room.
The rooms was spacious. The staff friendly.
Protea Hazyview
There was no hot water in my room when I arrived so I could not shower.
a stop on the way to the Kruger
Good service and excellent meals.
Perfect position
On the edge of the Kruger game park. Friendly staff.
Great location
Pleasant, good service and value for money
horrible experience
Upon arrival it was raining, we waited @ reception for a very long time as staff tried to find our reservation, but to no avail. They could not locate our booking had no rooms ready for us even though we were suppose to arrive a day early. We had to wait around for about over 3 hours till they rebooked and cleaned another room for us. We confirmed booking for a queen size bedroom, we got a small room with two 3/4 beds. This was really a terrible experience.
Great rooms and a good pool and bar
Excellent place for family stay and the rooms are great - also the bar overlooking the pool, both with views over surrounding countryside. One of the best Protea hotels. Food also good
Friendly Staff and a wonderfull breakfast
Friendly staff , breakfast was excellent and the location of the hotel has a beautiful view.
The first room we got was dirty, we receive room service after one hour ,the manger was very kind and he did not bill as at all for that .the bar and rester ant and the lobby as free wifi , and very comftarble .
Great Family rooms, Great Location
I will go back there again. Rates are good, friendly staff.
Great location. But massive disappointment.
We wouldn't stay there again for the money. Management didn't really care that our dinner was freezing cold and had been microwaved, or that the meals weren't as detailed on the Menu. The linen in the room was filthy, the lamps didn't work, they provided two towels for four, and they hadn't done a pre occupation inspection of the room, which would seem so simple.
The Hotel Hazyview, Mpumalanga
This is a superb location and i would recommend it to everybody. I will certainly be a frequent guess there. The bar is superb and the restaurant staff were great. I also received a very friendly welcome at reception. The guy's at the gate also needs to be congratulated. I would however have to comment on the noisy cleaning stuff. If only the cleaning staff can be a little more quiet in the mornings when doing their rounds, it would make a huge difference.
staying in Protea Hotel Hazyview
when we book,we were alocated room 53 and when we arrive after the administrator at the reception learnt that we book with agent ,she changed our room to the last room 87 which incovience us as it is far from parking and reception.we had children but apart from that I enjoyed staying because we ask to be change to another room as 87 had two single beds instead of two doubles and we were changed to 86.
Unimpressed
No working phones in room. No ice machine. Ice had to be delived and sometimes it was and sometimes it wasn't! Shower clogged. They plugged it and the next door it was stopped up again!. Kleenex ran out on day one and it was never replaced. Upon arrival safe didn't work. When they fixed it it hada bag in it that was full of twigs, bark and bugs including lice. No clocks in room, not even on TV. We depended on wake up calls which was not reliable. On the second day of stay we were locked out of the room. We had to get our key reprogrammed. No apology. They said it was our flault for rubbing medtal on the magnetic strip. What a disappointment. This was a Protea Hotel. They take pride in their hotels! Not this one. I would not recommend this hotel nor would I ever stay there again.
Nice getaway
Thatch huts give a true African feel, but the accommodations are fairly spartan. Grounds are lovely, nice pool and views.
Andres Zambrano
Its location is perfect for the Kruger Park, Blythe Canyon and Pilgrim's rest. The hotel is very beautiful, but rooms seem a little bit old, especially the bathroom. The buffet could be better, I suggest to ask for dishes and nt the buffet, is cheaper and probably better.
No internet
No internet was available during our stay. In the end we were able to use the office of one of the staff to check flight bookings. The restaurant food was average at best. The bar was very good. There's no point staying in this hotel if you don't have a car, it's a half hour drive to Kruger.
Very good
ok
Hôtel très bien....personnel sympa...le service impeccable...je recommande vivement de faire escale chez eux...
