Beautiful hotel in SOHO
Amazing hotel in the heart of SOHO, close to everything and extremely nice staff
The Best!
I always stay at Hazlitts - comfortable, safe, central, caring staff - always good.
Fantastic location, right in the heart of Soho. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Treat yourself to breakfast served in your room, delicious 😋.
Above and beyond.
A wonderful Georgian establishment but the main drawback is the lack of space even to have coffee in the room - let alone breakfast. We asked for an extra chair so we could squeeze onto a half moon table for coffee but the tray took up all the space. We didn’t even consider breakfast because although this could have been served in the lovely communal rooms they only had coffee tables and would therefore be uncomfortable to eat at.
Quirky and great location for Soho
Really nice staff, quirky hotel, unusual and old world. Dont expect executive luxury. The hotel is not that. Great location for Soho. Enjoyable stay. Just wish we had a shower rather than a small but beautiful slipper bath.
Fantastic location for Ronnie Scotts and La Gauthier Soho. Very comfortable. Friendly and historic. Great breakfast but not included.
This is a very cozy yet elegant boutique style hotel. Food was good quality and the staff were friendly and attentive. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Wonderful stay!
A1 service from the team
My wife and I stayed for a night at Hazlitts and had an excellent experience staying at the hotel. The interior exudes historical charm and feels more like staying in a private residence than a hotel. Superbly located in Soho, we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the property was throughout. We slept soundly even though our room faced the busy street outside. The rooms are beautifully appointed, and the amenities we used (such as the honour bar) were first rate. A note also that every member of staff we interacted with was warm and courteous, assisted with all our needs, and made us feel at home. Our stay at Hazlitts exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to return.
Lovely old worldy hotel with excellent service and perfect location.
Gorgeously maintained and incredibly clean historical property. If you want to feel like you’re living out your regency romance fantasies, this is the place. Beautiful antique furniture and four-poster beds with sumptuous hangings, charmingly slanted floors, clawfooted tubs, and tons of romantic lighting and paintings. Combined with helpful staff, it was an absolutely lovely experience all around. However, because it is a charming historical property, there are certain modern amenities that you don’t get here that you would at a larger, modern hotel. There isn’t an elevator, outlets are oddly placed, and there aren’t things like irons and ironing boards in the room. But, if you are looking for transportative charm and gorgeous historical details, this place is for you.
Six Star Review!
Best hotel experience ever! The manager Charles provided extraordinary friendliness courtesy and great recommendations during my stay. The vibe of the hotel was amazing, circa 1718 with beautifully preserved period furnishings and architecture. You won't be disappointed!
Fabulous best kept secret
Very friendly Nice room Great value
Really good
Really nice stay,all round experience
Superb. Has plenty of character and much nicer than a bland chocolate box hotel. Price is high but you get what you pay for. Feels special and won’t stay anywhere else in London from now on .
Very nice hotel in an upscale areas with lots of bars and restaurants. I was able to walk to all of London's attractions with ease. The only drawback I found was there is no elevator so I had to walk up 55 stairs to get to my room on the 3rd floor.
Very old and very fun.
Very central
As my room was on a top floor, the ceiling was low, and with the room's dark colour palette, I found the room very suffocating and claustrophobic. The staff tried to find a different room for me, but the hotel was full unfortunately. The decor is probably not for everyone either. The other things I did not like were that: 1. there were no slippers in the room, 2. there was no handholding shower head. The shower was only from the ceiling. 3. Their sink is one of those where the hot water and cold water come from separate taps. The staff was very friendly and kind. If it wasn't for them, I would have given the hotel even a lower rating, but their loveliness made up for the discomfort of the room.
It just doesn't get any nicer than this.
Beautiful property. Plenty of options for dining and night life. The public rooms within the hotel were lovely. The gin bar was exceptional!! I would highly recommend this hotel.
For 1,100 USD per night, this hotel was just okay. The charm and history were there, but the hotel is lacking warmth. It was the first night of our honeymoon, as we noted on the reservation, and not one person mentioned anything nor did anything in our room upon arrival. The faucets barely work in the bathroom, which again, for a thousand dollars, seems ridiculous. I would just say the hotel is okay- has a lot of potential to be better since the real estate is cool.
Superb gem nestled in the heart of Soho, and an oasis of olde worlde charm and calm in contrast to the hustle and bustle of London's street vibe! One of London's best kept secrets
Great experience at the Hazlitt’s Hotel
Exceptional hotel with exceptional decor.
So unique, antique, clean and welcoming
Needs a reboot
No longer as good as it was. Still a beautiful and unique hotel but at these prices the service needs to be better.
This is a special place, a haven of calm in the middle of the West End
Nice hotel but could do with some updating
We stayed in the sister hotel Batty Langleys in Shoreditch so we were expecting good things but we were a little disappointed. Having paid almost £750 for 2 nights we were disappointed to be charged £4 for a bottle of still water especially when there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The water is not listed on the minibar menu so we assumed it was included (as in most other hotels in the world!). We had a tiny bathroom with a wooden cover with ornate holes in over the window frame rather than glass so was extremely cold! The bathroom door scratched the plaster when it was closed, the toilet was stained and the sink had big cracks in and leaked onto the floor underneath. Good points were the very comfortable bed and pillows, the main areas of the hotel were lovely and the staff were very helpful but unfortunately we won’t be returning.
charm and comfort in Soho
Hazlitt's is a delightful hotel which combines Georgian charm with contemporary comfort. Our room was attractive and the bed very comfortable. We enjoyed reading in the lounge in front of the fireplace. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served in the room. The menu is small but the food was well prepared and portions generous. It's in an excellent location for Soho theaters, the British Museum, shopping and dining. Despite the lively weekend street life our room was completely quiet.
Could be better !
We were both excited to stay at Hazlitts due to its historical nature. The building and rooms are beautiful. The initial welcome and ambience is slightly cold and lacking in atmosphere. The staff were efficient, although slightly lacking in personality and conversation. The breakfast was nice and efficiently brought to your room at the correct time. Lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room was rather odd, considering the size of the mini bar. I understand you can order these at a cost, however convenience and choosing the strength of your tea and coffee are important elements for me and my wife. Overall a well situated, beautiful hotel, however in my opinion certain elements could be easily improved.
Very expensive and not in good order.
The staff were not particularly friendly but were polit enough. The carpet in our room was filthy and covered in stains. The radiator didn't work so they had to supply a portable heater. The toilet valve stayed open so water constantly flushed until i fiddled with the flush leaver. There is no tea and coffee in the room so you have to pay extra for something that is standard in most hotels these days. The cost of the breakfast that you have to eat in your room is extortionate, as is everthing else. The room was tinny so there was nowhere to eat the breakfast. There was nowhere to store our cases.
This hotel gave me the best experience I ever had , So peaceful I could spend days reading those books drinking english black tea and looking through the window to classic London I was in 1930s . I already miss it
Stayed at Hazlitts many times & always appreciate & enjoy this unique hotel. Great location, great rooms & as always a nice welcome. (Just go easy on the toasting of the bagels please!)
Perfect
Does not get beter than perfect
Patrick in particular was brilliant. Very helpful and courteous.
Great location, surprisingly quiet at night. Can’t fault it,
Hidden gem
Gorgeous building and rooms, friendly staff, wonderfully comfortable bed! Only problem…Bath tub drain was clogged when showering.
A gem in London
Another absolutely wonderful stay at Hazlitt’s. This is such a special place.
Great stay! We will be back!
Convenient escape
Super quiet, tasteful and historic retreat in the middle of the city nightlife with quick access to underground for getting anywhere in the city quickly.
I loved this hotel. Very quirky but full of character. Comfortable bed, ancient building but clean and well maintained in an excellent area. Less than 5 minutes walk to Oxford street, Tottenham court tube station (direct to Heathrow), theatre district etc.
We had an issue the first night we were there but the problem was corrected and our stay was fabulous.
This hotel is an absolute gem. From the decor to the delicious risotto to the absolutely wonderfully helpful, accommodating and friendly staff. I really enjoyed my stay. I was sad to go home!
Hazlitt's is a beautiful hotel, it feels like you're walking back in time into a fabulous English parlour. Room was quite small, and bathroom as well was small but was fine for what we needed. It wouldn't hurt for there to be a bit more storage for visitor's personal items in the bookcases, which were loaded up with old books (part of the decor) and the mini fridge. A drawer or two would be just enough. Location was amazing, close to so many pubs, restaurants, and a short walk to all of the sights.
Amidst a sea of soulless modern minimalist hotels, Hazlitt's is a characterful oasis of Victorian poetry. With gorgeous period gothic furnishings, inspired interior design, & amenities like drawing rooms with gin bars, en suite sitting rooms/garden balconies, and Victorian cast bronze tub fixtures, Hazlitts is an attraction unto itself. The staff was gracious & attentive. It is immaculate & lovely. We will return.
Everything was excellent. I was impressed by the attention to details and thoughtfulness of all of the staff. The bed was also very comfortable!
Gorgeous hotel, the staff were super friendly and the beds are possibly the most comfortable I’ve ever known. Breakfast delivered to your room was superb…a real gem of a hotel
Delighted with stay
It was excellent. The hotel lived up to expectations and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful hotel, we'll definitely return
Beautiful hotel with fabulous taste in furnishings and dressing. Bed very comfortable. Only minor niggle was we had to request coffee/tea tray again as it had not been put in room when originally offered.
The hotel is beautiful and in the perfect location!
Amazing hotel. Fantastic location, the service was outstanding. Exceptionally comfortable room and bed. Perfect in every way.
Lovely boutique hotel right in the heart of everything. Great staff. Stayed numerous times & we will be back again soon.
London Getaway
Room was very spacious and well maintained; loved the old world charm and romance of a by-gone era.
Great location, great hotel for anniversary weekend away.
Such a unique place to stay. It was beautiful and clean. The only issue was that there was only a bathtub and no shower but we made it work and we will be staying here again in the future. Great spaces and great history!
The hotel is wonderful and the service is exceptional. I was a little bit disappointed on the cracked tiling around the loo and the small hole arond the bathroom light fittings. Would definitely stay again.
Absolutely lovely hotel. We stayed in Lady Frances Hewitt room, with a four poster and claw foot tub - the room was very charming and the staff were all excellent.
Highly recommend
Great location, clean and comfortable rooms, fabulous and friendly staff.
The hotel is old, unique, and in a wonderful location. The staff is professional, and very helpful. Our family enjoyed the unique experience a lot.
Such a unique place, with beautiful old decor, and very helpful staff. Great location, within a short walk to theatres & restaurants.
Fantastic experience in a Victorian hotel. A block from lots of restraints and 15 min from big Ben.
Absolutely lovely find with so much character. Make sure you know if your room is on the top floor because it’s a bit of a trek up there, but totally worth it if you don’t mind it. Exquisite service
We stayed at Hazlitt’s in early June 2022. This is an 18th century hotel which is in dire need of a fix. Yes it’s quaint and centrally located. But for the money they charge, basic amenities should be accommodated such as a functional toilet. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk - she acknowledged that others had complained but nothing was done. The stairs to the rooms are uneven and dangerous. The reviews of this hotel were positive because it’s located in SoHo and very near the theatre district. The breakfast was decent. A nice touch is that they have the amenities for drinks (you make them yourself) and a sitting room. But again very disappointed with our stay. We visit London regularly and won’t return.
The interior of the hotel was dark, gloomy, and in disrepair. Furnishings were worn. The atmosphere of our room was more like that of a funeral parlor or the Addams Family home than a cheerful, elegant, and well-kept hotel. Our bathroom window wouldn't close, allowing loud noise from local bars to enter. A closet knob was ready to fall off. The floor was not level and met the walls at odd angles, creating a fun house effect. The two leather chairs were too uncomfortable to sit in for more than a couple minutes because the seats slanted from back to front like ski slopes, making the occupant feel he was about to slide off. It was truly rather unpleasant; we did not look forward to returning to our room at the end of each day.
Gem of a place
Excellent information from check in to check out. A true gem of a place and fabulous location. Hope to be back soon.
The staff were so friendly and helpful...kind. They told me Hazlitt's was my home while i was there. That made me feel so welcome ☺I will come back for sure.
As charming as can be, with an accomplished and caring staff to match.
Great experience. Breakfast is worth it!
Great stay at the Hazlitt's. It a very charming hotel in a great, central location. We took advantage of the breakfast delivered in our room. It's an extra but very well worth it. A great way to start the day!
Very interesting, historic and surprisingly quiet
Stayed just the one night at Hazlitt's as going to Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward virtually next door. Very interesting, historic place to stay and extremely (and surprisingly) quiet - just off Soho Square so not in the noisy bit of Soho, although this is only about 100-200 yards away. Not like staying at a large international hotel - a small, boutique hotel full of antiques and old paintings. Very enjoyable stay. Would definitely recommend if you want to stay in an historic, quirky, boutique type hotel.
Amazing stay
We had an amazing stay, the staff were all very polite and welcoming. The room was beautiful. We had a delicious breakfast too.
Cosy city getaway
Gorgeous old building, lots of lounges to sit in, lovely rooms, breakfast can be brought to your door and great staff.
Love it - utterly fabulous hotel
Uniquely different hotel experience.
Lovely hotel, very unique and quirky. My friend and I had single rooms, both very different. I had an issue with having no hot water at all….hotel did take money of the rate to compensate for this however it did let my experience down. Other than that the staff were very friendly, one gave us a tour and told us a lot about the history etc. lovely hotel cat present too! Location was perfect, in the centre of Soho and very easy to access the theatres and restaurants without having to get cabs
Beautiful
Beautiful hotel, staff were helpful, attentive and obviously proud of working at such a beautiful hotel.
Fabulous hotel, great building and rooms. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Would have like a shower in the club double room.
Very quiet inside which is remarkable considering it’s location and the hustle & bustle outside. Across the road from Ronnie Scotts which was a bonus - I cannot fault it.
A warm hug from the 17c
These hotels are almost unique in London. Like stepping back into a 17c world but with 21c service and facilities. So warm and snug. We loved the quirky rooms, the period fittings and the rabbit warren building. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and the location is excellent for all things London.
Absolutely loved staying at Hazlitt’s. Wonderful location, beautiful room and very warm and friendly staff. Even though the it’s in a very vibrant and loud part of Soho, I slept peacefully and couldn’t hear any noise from outside. I plan on staying here again!
Didn't go
Due to Covid we had to cancel our trip to London. Tried to get in touch with hotels.com to try and cancel the booking but got no response!
No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Towel rail did not heat up in bathroom at all. Shelf in bath room in wrong place, too near toilet,so hit our heads several times on it. Breakfast in room was very burnt first morning and not good value either, but we were compensated for the breakfast,as it was inedible.
Superb atmosphere Wonderful Hotel
Despite some issues with my first assigned room which was in the basement (!) I had a very pleasant stay overall. I would definitely recommend it and I would stay there again.
Old-world charm
Hazlitt's has old-world charm and lovely service! It is in such a great location in Soho, easily walkable to so many areas we wished to visit. We loved the lounges and fireplaces.
Super charming Great location Could use a little more heat control
A lovely hotel
Beautiful historic hotel.
No tea making facilities
A step back in time. Absolutely beautiful in the heart of Soho. Great location, comfortable and surprisingly so quite. Very friendly staff.
Perfect Boutique Hotel in Central London
Stunning room with lovely antiques and extremely comfortable bed.
Everything
Had a great stay!
Been coming here for years. Perfect.
A charming property with great character in a superb location. Tranquil retreat from busy streets below. Friendly reception staff and some cosy common areas. Needs upgrading / updating eg carpets, bathrooms and heating/cooling in bedrooms. Also, parts of my bedroom were dusty - above headboard and book shelf.
A timeless gem
Wonderful in this age of manufactured boutique hotels or chains trying to individualise their soul less blocks. For a tourist, real English charm, for a local non-kitschy succour.
Bags of character and a cat if you’re lucky
Lovely hotel which is full of character, there isn’t a flat floor in the building. Service from the staff is second to none. We stayed in the Lady Francis Hewitt room, Bed was a stunning four poster. Old fashioned bathroom(in a good way), roll top bath with a mixer shower etc. No iron in the room but hotel offers an ironing service I believe. The location is brilliant, right in the heart of soho. Only criticism is that there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which normally I like but you can’t have everything. Unfortunately didn’t get to see the elusive hotel cat……one day kitty one day!!! We 100% would stay again.
The decoration, history, layout and service.
Amazing, cosy hotel, few steps from the restaurant and bars but still quiet inside. Discreet and professional service. The room was very clean and luxurious, you really can see what you are paying for. Breakfast fresh and delicious. Highly recommended hotel.

Quaint and historic hotel in the middle of SoHo. Very relaxed - it is like a home from home.
