This is a good motel and we would stay there again if passing through Timaru. The name harbour view is a bit misleading as the hotel doesn't have a harbour view, at least not from the ground floor rooms! However it is only a short walk from Caroline Bay. The centre of Timaru is a little further to walk and it's uphill if that is an issue for you. However there is plenty of parking in town. A particular mention to the lady on reception who was both friendly and helpful. Note that if you are going south you have to drive past the motel and turn right, right, right around the next block thereby approaching the hotel from behind.

TravellerOn arrival, we’re met with good customer service. The staff member was very friendly & happy to answer questions. The room was what you needed for an overnight stay. You could hear the road noise in the distance but not very loud. Nothing that ear plugs didn’t fix. Easy walk into town & Caroline Bay. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Clean, spacious room. Right on the highway but good sound insulation. Across the road from the park, but calling it “harbour view” would be a bit of a stretch. The reception was a bit off-putting - intense smell of a dog kennel - I did so one very large dog in there when we dropped off the key.
