So, we rolled into Happi Hotel in Aswan after a 9 pm landing, thinking we were playing it smart with a $20 airport transfer. The ride was okay, but boy, did things go south from there. The room they dropped us in looked like it hadn't seen a decent cleaning since ancient times. I've roughed it in some quirky spots, but this one takes the cake. Seriously, we were scared to touch anything – felt like we stumbled into a crime scene or a horror flick. And to top it off, we shelled out $70 bucks a night for what? A downright dump. Don't make the same mistake we did, check out the other bad reviews before booking here.
I really wanted to like this hotel. The website room photos are accurate. The bathroom is... I don't know how to describe it. The only way into the tub/shower was by crawling over the narrow, sloped, back end of the tub. The shower curtain was 12" too long. It ended half way onto the bottom of the tub. The tub/shower fittings were at midpoint on the long wall, so between stepping on the shower curtain, climbing into the tub, and then trying to find space to stand in the tub, well, it was interesting. There's no tub mat, one towel inky, no matter how often I asked for two. Small bars of soap only. No shampoo, etc. No electric kettle. I think it's miss. The staff is lovely. Breakfast is OK. Location very central, although one block off the Corniche.
Great stay
I always come back to this hotel for the last five years because of convenience of location and how clean the public areas are the rooms are small but they’re sufficient as I’m not spending vacation in a hotel room and the staff couldn’t be more friendly
Bed was clean and but showers flood the bathrooms
I booked two rooms. One had a shower with no screen or curtain and it was practically over the toilet which meant my adult daughter came to shower in my ensuite but the shower curtain was too short and clung to us in the tiny shower and flooded the floor. Staff nice. Breakfast okay. Internet totally useless for all five devices we were carrying. A two-star hotel by international standards.
The hotel is located super centric and handy for everything. They set up a to go breakfast one morning and the staff were really kind. Whilst quite simple rooms they were comfortable. The only surprise is that they don’t set up tours but not a big deal.
Satff were freindly snd helpful
Great location, amazing staff
Great location and amazing staff. The hotel has nice if a bit outdated rooms, but nothing to worry about if in look for a budget option - it might be the best budget option in the entire Aswan. Breakfast is good, internet works well. Special thanks to Somaya, who was always helpful and extremely nice to our group.
Nice place
Nice budget friendly place. Firm bed and lots of hot water. View of the water . Would stay again
Location is good on east side of Nile. AC in the room is running cold enough for Aswan hot temperature but remote doesnt work. But the room is lacking amenity supplies no shamphoo, no conditioner, no hair dryer, no free water bottle but hotel does provides breakfast box for early morning trips only by request. No restaurant inside hotel but u can go across the other hotel restaurant for dinner.
Amazing
It was amazing, the location, the staff amazing!!
AMAZING HOSTEL & AMAZINGLY FRIENDLY STAFF.
A decent stay
A good stay for 1 night as we had to leave early for our cruise the next day. The hotel is very close to the Train station.. the room was worn out but is decent enough for 1 or 2 nights as the location is in the proper city centre. The service was very good, the staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast could have been better as were given nothing but a couple of bread with a yogurt and banana.
Pros Near the city center. Very convenient to visit many places and restaurants. Not far from Aswan train station. Cons 1. Staffs do not have service minded. They always say No to every customers' requests. I asked for late check out at 4 pm & have a shower before going to the train station, they said that I have to pay 10 USD for that. I asked for packed lunch but they did not have. I ask to pay in EGP, they charged me 1 USD = 40 EGP. (4 Oct 2023) They received only new bank note without wrinkles. 2. Breakfast is very bad. It comes into a set as you will get when you are travelling by plane. It is not a buffet. There are a banana, an boiled egg, cheese, 2 breads, jam, honey, plain yogurt and tea or coffee, without drinking water. My banana is not fresh. I can eat only a half. 3. Staffs said that the view from my room is superb!, but actually it was a street view, not a Nile river view. How superb it is! At night, it was very noisy from people who is chatting outside the hotel, a car horn, a horse riding, a pray from the mosque. Fortunately that I am wearing my earplugs at night. 4. The room looks very old and dirty. The floor is carpet. Aswan is the city of desert. Imagine that you have visitted Abu Simbel with some sand come into your shoes, and you have to take your shoes off when arrive your room. There will be some sand in a carpet. There is no kettle and bottle of water in a room. 5. There is 24-hour-tea and coffee service near the reception with extra charge.
The hotel was ok , maybe for one night, no hot water to shower, wifi slow, super noisy at night, breakfast not so good, AC good, the only good thing was the customer service, very nice
Good location and services, room was bigger than expected.
Near food and nice condition
Clean and convenient location with pleasant staff however I was not able to connect with Wi-Fi and the front desk offered additional help without providing one (?) and I tried to grab breakfast to go and server could not provide neither. During Ramadan evenings can be pretty Loud and you can hear it from your room (my room was on the 2nd floor)
Do not recommend
Internet did not function barely at all. Super friendly helpful staff. Not worth the price and super noisy area. Do not recommend unless this place lowers the price substantially. I recommend staying at a nicer hotel(Basma)
Passable hotel; poor service
Airport pickup wasn’t waiting where they said causing a delay while we found someway to call them They lost my booking (after calling once and confirming twice) for a car to Abu Simbel which meant we had to fly They had told me I could add the pickup to my bill and there was no mention when I booked the pickup of paying cash. Yet Wouldn’t let me check in for an hour at ten pm at night (despite having a sick 78 year old mother and an exhausted 3 year old) even though I had prepaid because I didn’t have cash for the airport pickup.
Value for Money - if only for sleeping.
Hotel is good from the point of view of location. Check in took lot of time - we arrived later than the check in time - still the room wasn't ready. Breakfast was not upto the mark. Value for money - 80% Yes Don't expect much - room is clean, by the side of the road, so partially noisy (not a major problem though). Price could be little lower.
Egypt, 2023
The hotel itself is beautiful. The common areas are beautiful the rooms need a little updating but because of the convenience I come back here it’s been four times.
Good value good position
A nice hotel. Friendly staff from breakfast staff to reception
Omar from reception was really helpful, went out of his way to help us make essential local calls when our phone would not work in Egypt. A big thank you! Lovely hotel excellent location-
Decently priced quick spot to stay in Aswan before we flew out. Would recommend it as a quick stop over but not for a longer stay.
Worth a stay.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Iron was not available entire stay. Hair blow dryer only available 1 of the days. Clean sheets and towels, terrible wifi. Excellent location.
Good value for money
Excellent customer service.
Reception staff professional, hospitable, service oriented. WiFi only works in the reception area. Overall room quality/features were satisfactory for the price
staff was incredibly helpful and friendly.
I enjoyed staying at the Hali Hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the a/c and hot water worked well. The staff was very helpful and respectful. The location was good, near the Nile, the tourist market and some decent restaurants. The WiFi was hit and miss in the rooms, which was my one complaint. Overall, I recommend it for its good value.
Disgusting hotel! They put me in a old and dilapidated room with yellow stains in the tub. There were holes in the bed sheets and the carpet was so nasty I didn’t want to take off my shoes. After I complained they moved me to the side of the hotel where the Arab and white travelers were. On that side of the hotel, the rooms were renovated and clean. The WiFi was trash and rarely worked. When a group of white travelers checked in, the WiFi miraculously started working but when they checked out, the internet was cut off again. The only place you could get relatively reliable WiFi was at the check in desk. However, after 15 minutes of using it I was always kicked off the server. I was so disgusted by my stay, I checked out early. If you respect yourself and want to have a good stay in Aswan, don’t use this hotel. The streets are cleaner than this pigsty.
Expensive for nothing
Rooms to small . Dirty bathtub. bad WiFi connection.
I have stayed here many times mostly for location and the common areas are very nice the rooms could use a bit of updating to match the common areas
Overall a pleasant stay at Hapi hotel . The room is basic, but comfortable enough for couple nights to put your head down after long day of expedition. It’s well located, local souks and restaurants (as masraff - great restaurant) nearby within walking distance. Hotel staff was helpful. Breakfast was ok. WiFi works in lobby but spotty in rooms.
I had a good time during my staying. Aswan one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I am proud that we have such places in Egypt and Nubian people are so friendly 😃
We had a good time at the hotel. The place is comfortable and friendly staff.
Well, I had one of the cheapest rooms so would not expect much from it but instead of having a 'window' looking out at the air conditioning unit in a well - would rather have a wall there :). Otherwise - good hotel, good views starting from 3rd or 4th floor, nice staff.
Nice and clean, near to the train station ( 10 minutes walking) , Market and Nile river
Not too bad
The room was ok except for the bath tub. It had a crack through which yellowish water was coming out when stepping on the tub. A bit noisy the first night. I used my noise canceling headphones.
Pretty good
Was clean and the staff was very friendly and efficient. The hotel was very noisy and difficult to sleep from the street noise.
Best location wonderful staff will return
Bathroom needs improvement. There is hot water, but it alternates between very hot and very cold. Staff was friendly. Breakfast box was good for early departure. Beds were clean and room was fine, but basic. Bathroom did have mold.
Great Value and comfort
This hotel was great Value and the staff were super friendly, especially a lady named Mona, who really went out of her way to help me with local recommendations, definitely recommend.
Ok property in good location
Quite centrally located, about 15min walk from the train station and near the river (with good views from the breakfast area). Steps from the market. Staff mostly helpful, though English command somewhat varied. My room wasn't that great - quite small, no room safe and no heating so damn cold in the winter, even with two blankets it was quite harsh. Bathroom ok. Breakfast simple and uninspiring. They offer Abu Simbel tours for a good price.
overcharging me as I am Egyptian
I booked through hotels.com for double room. When I reached there, the receptionist told me as you booked from hotels.com, your room is of type "Budget room"!!!. She showed me this room, it was lowest quality room, very small size that it holded 2 beds that consumed most of the room. It was room like a prison! She told me you have to upgrade to take a better room by paying extra fees. The room that I upgraded to was a room for humans, not a luxury one. I was overcharged around extra 200 LE by the hotel rate, not hotels.com rate. She told me as I am Egyptian I am not suppose to pay nice low price by hotels.com as low prices by hotels.com are for foreign tourists only!
We were a group of 18 people - it took the front desk lady over 2 hours to check us all in. Rooms are very basic, nothing luxurious. The bathroom has really hot water - be careful, it is scalding hot and you can burn yourself. The check in area looks updated but the rooms are not. Breakfast was not good - it was rationed at one bread roll, coffee, one boiled egg, some butter, cheese, jam and a bowl of beans. The staff in the breakfast area are rude and have no idea of customer service. Location is good with the river Nile just one street over and the Aswan bazaar close by if interested in shopping. Bargain at 25% of what is quoted and you will be fine at the bazaar. The Egyptian food was a big disappointment to us - very bland and tasteless - both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The front desk lady recommended some restaurants close by for vegetarians, only to find out there was one vegetarian option on the entire menu. The area outside the hotel is dirty with trash everywhere but those are the conditions everywhere in Egypt and especially in Aswan
The hotel was well managed by friendly staff. It was in a central location of Aswan, which has both positive and negative aspects. It was so convenient to explore the city. However, it was a bit noisy, especially at night
Very nice and clean!
This hotel was lovely. It was located right by the train station and there were lots of food and sightseeing options walking distance. The hotel also helped us book transportation to many sightseeing spots for a very low price, which was very convenient for us. It was a bit loud at night, but that is what happens when you book any hotel in the middle of an Egyptian city! Also, Mona, who worked at the front desk was absolutely the most lovely employee any hotel could ask to have. She was kind, funny and helpful all throughout our stay. Thank-you!
It was pretty good stay, wifi was absolutely horrendous & they pretty much shrugged their shoulders about it... but I mean it wasn’t the end of the world. Definition of first world problems lol staff was wonderful. Good location.
Clean and comfortable
Amazing hotel, perfect location and great service. Special thanks to Mona , Ibrahim and Peter working in the front desk . Friendly staff and good service.
Mid-range Aswan hotel is OK
I had expected a bit more from Hapi, in small ways. For example, most hotels provided you with complementary bottled water & tea-making facilities. These things are important in a hot country. Also, I had a room that was "Nile View". Yes, you could see the Nile but it was a restricted view. and the hotel is actually set back from the Nile. On the positive side, my room was relatively quiet - a bonus in Egypt - and it is right beside the souk.
Great with small bathroom
It was a very good experience and the staff is really friendly and helpful. The room is clean and neat but the washroom is so small and the hot water goes fast like one shower! Except that it was great stay at this hotel and I’ll come back again to this hotel. Recommended
Better Than Expected Stay In Aswan
The front desk personnel were extremely helpful! Everything from offering suggestions about where to eat to assisting my wife in getting medication from a pharmacy. The room was adequate. The shower was quite small but by Egyptian standards more than acceptable. The power went off twice the night we stayed. Annoying, but it came back on in time to prevent the room from getting too hot to sleep. Our room was on the non-view side of the hotel. It looked out over the town and was nothing special. The other side looked out over the Nile River. The breakfast was better than expected and the service was good.
Nice simple hotel, the staff were friendly and went out of there way to help us as well as organise tours etc!
The room was small and had no window. The outside AC unit next door was noisy by the the window. The location was good, near lots of shops. Good stay for one night.
room is spacious and clean. hot water is a bit small
Good location but can be quite noisy. Aswans Old Market is just around the corner if you're looking for more of a local Egyptian experience. Stayed here before and will be back next time. Dont expect too much and you will enjoy the more typical Egyptian hotel style accommodation, and at a reasonable price.
Good
Great location - but also means a noisy street that comes into the room. Quick overnight, was good. We had hot water and AC.
Avoid at all costs. When you first walk into the hotel it acually seems quite nice. The staff was smiling, the lobby clean. As soon as we got to our rooms we had issues. We had three rooms, all were supposed to have king sized beds in them. Instead we all got rooms with two double beds jammed into them, leaving zero room to even throw a pair of socks on the floor. The bathrooms were so cramped you could barely brush your teeth. The wifi doesn’t work, the tv doesn’t work and worst of all the AC doesn’t work. The breakfast doesn’t warrant much of a comment either except to say don’t waste your time even going all the way up the the sixth floor for it. Now for the worst part. We wanted to book a felucca. All we wanted to do was float around peacefully for two hours, no sight seeing or anything extra. We nogotiated a price that was high but fair so we could avoid bartering on the corniche. The first 30 mins of the felucca was nice. Then they forced us to go to the botanical gardens where they took us to vendors we didn’t want to go to and charged us 20 pounds to use their bathrooms. Then on the way back they claim they didn’t have enough wind to get back to shore. They call a boat and a guy gets on and demands we pay 450 pounds for the island we went to. We got into a shouting match and eventually convinced them to take us back to shore. When we got back to the hotel, instead of appologizing to us they demanded we pay. Scam artists, avoid this hotel at all costs.
Feeling meh about the check-in, staff was not so nice. And if you’re staying on the first floor, you will have to climb the stairs with your large luggage. Was informed breakfast is on the 6th floor, so we climb all the way up with the stairs only to find there’s an elevator, just not on our room floor. Love the breakfast, great selection. The water in the shower can take some time to adjust, it’s either too hot or too cold, pretty hard to get it into warm. Check out was quick and easy.
hotel fine. bad mangement, bad attitude.
happy with everything apart from reception. we arrived in the evening.i wanna book tomorrow night as well. the night receptionist said they can give me same price as i paid tonight. i want to book asap, he asked me to book with morning receptionist. so i did not book online. in the morning, receptionist and manger said i have to paid local price which around 18usd more than i paid online. i told them night receptionist promise me i can get same price as before. They said maybe night receptionist did not know. they can not do it. They asked me to book online which hotel.com doesnt not have vacancy anymore. Staff behave like it is your business. doesnt matter what night staff promise, we cant help. i am not happy to pay extra 18usd at all. i booked in booking.com which saved 7usd compare with the price they asked. as the receptionist and manger they are not responsable for what they promised. not honest.
The hotel confirmed my airport pickup and car rental on March 5th for my trip to Abu Simbel. However, no one showed up and I was stuck in Aswan an additional day. I had to then travel 10 hours in a car to my next location in order to NOT lose too much time there. The management also charged me for a guide that I DID NOT want saying it was the law. I was charged for that same guide at entrance and then HE left and went to the coffee shop! Also, since I was stuck in Aswan I had to then get a car to tour Aswan to DO SOMETHING for that day which cost me money I had not intended to spend---very upsetting.
This hotel was quite clean and in a good location for the East Bank. The staff was helpful with whatever we needed and the prices they charged were only a little higher than we could have found outside the hotel. It was definitely worth not making the effort to go through them. My only complaint is our room was right above a coffee shop so we heard men talking and yelling at the soccer game on television late into the night. It was quite loud. I'd recommend staying on the Nile side for a better night's sleep.
The hotel is clean.and the guy on the desk help me to my tours to abu simbel
Central location, clean and very comfortable. Friendly staff, especially Ahmed on the front desk who was consistently helpful for local advise and on tour options. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Good place to stay
The front desk staffs were very helpful. The lady helped us to arrange private cars to Abu Simbel and Luxor. The cars and drivers were very professional. The eating area on top of the building had a great view of the Nile. The location was convenient. The wifi could be better. It dropped a lot.
Likes: - in the center , walkable to Nile and shopping areas dislikes: Very crowded and traffic. calm hours : 2 - 5 am Bathroom tub for our room was very small , hot/cold water mix was not working ok. No way to change as 3 bedroom was limited.
Nice place to stay
Very friendly front desk and helped arranging cars to Abu Simbel and to Luxor. The location is convenient and have restaurants around. The roof top eating area has wonderful view.
We only spent 3 hours here after a late arrival. But it was great that staff packed us a take-away breakfast box.
Just short stay and transit to Abu Simbel
I came to Happi at around 1 am, just a short stay then rush to Aby Simbel at 4 am. The staff at reception was very helpful and quick check in. He had arranged a breakfast box for me too. They also let me to store my bag. So considerate. However, the facility of hotel is OKAY, their air con is old and noisy. But it is fine for just short stay.
Value for money hotel.
Hotel is walkable from train station or a short taxi ride. It is very close to main road with all the shops/market stalls. Also across road from river. In a good location. It is a little bit noisy with traffic noise and market noise but not really an issue. However the hotel has very old window box air conditioners. In the hot season of April I could not sleep at night with the air conditioner on due to its noise. The breakfast is very basic and minimal with no options. But it did the job. The staff were very nice but not with a lot of help in English. Price was reasonable and not a lot of options at the price in Aswan. I would return to this hotel in the future but not if it was in the hot months due to the air condioning.
Clean room, helpful staffs
Cclean and well maintained hotel. Helpful staffs that quickly respond to your request and favour. Hot shower was not that strong but I found this almost every hotels in Egypt and at least hot water was stable so this was acceptable.Only down side is that it seems that they only have 1 hair dryer for the entire guest rooms, so I needed to return the hair dryer every night after my shower.
Nice hotel close to Nile with great views.
Attractive ground floor reception and communal area. Spotlessly clean. Enclosed roof top breakfast area has excellent views of the Nile. Very good breakfast and service. Good central location on El Corniche, not far from train station.
A very nice Aswan Hotel
Only 1 block off the Nile river. Walking distance from cruise ships. They offered very affordable transportation to ruins and airport but no guides. Walking distance to many restaurants.
Nice hotel and lovely staff
Hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. Hotel is quite modern looking in comparison to the surrounding buildings and is great value for money. The only issue was the noise on the first night - the air-conditioning was a bit loud and there is some noise from the street. It wasn't a problem the second night. Although I didn't organise any tours with them, they do also arrange trips at very good prices.
Great location but they need new TVs in the rooms.
Excellent!
This hotel is closed to the train station (10mins walk) I felt like home. The staff specially the manager treat me like a king. He even offered me a tour the amazing Aswan city. It was a boat ride at a cheap price. I think I was blessed by stating there. They even arrange me a taxi to the airport. I think its the best place to be in Aswan. Closed to everything.
Wonderful guesthouse overlooking the pyramids
The family that runs this guesthouse went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable at every turn. The rooftop is an amazing place to watch the sound and light show for free. You can access the pyramids at one of the exits steps from the front door and they directed me to a wonderful restaurant less than a block away. Staying here allowed me to get in right at 8 and I had the pyramids basically to myself for an hour. You will need to walk to the main gate to get tickets to enter though. Free water and drinks and the breakfast spread was amazing fruit, veggies, eggs, tahini, cereal, croissants...delicious! Thank you for the hospitality, I almost never write reviews but this place was such a great value and experience!
The staff was great when I came back to Aswan definitely I will stay there once again
Mejor evitarlo
Mejor evitarlo.
Stuff is kind for me . Wifi is not connecting to internet
Molto buono
Hotel in pieno centro vicino al suq. Colazione buona . Possibilità di organizzare diverse escursioni
