Excellent looking cation great food and shopping just a few blocks away
Happy Camper
It was amazing, close to shopping, and great food was just a quick walk away.
Bathroom was very smelly. Rooms does not look like picture. Water supply was cut off one morning. Breakfast was served very slow (they had a ala carte selection). The only good thing was staff had good attitude.
The room was not what was shown on the intro ad.It was disappointing.
nothing like the Expedia photos...………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...
Not bad but not pleasant
A well located hotel within reach of the train station, with friendly hotel staff and a good introduction to the hotel upon arrival by Linda. Sadly don't be misled by the nice website photos though. The dimly tube-lit bathroom was the worst we've experienced this trip with mouldy tiles and a dated suite that's turned yellow over many years, blocked sink and bath drains, and ants crawling throughout! There was no duvet cover in the room and the electric kettle was unfit as well as unsafe for purpose. We were misold a hugely overpriced delux bus journey when we'd asked for a basic one and had a stressful time trying to recover our advanced payment.
Location was excellent in old quarter. There was plenty to eat at breakfast-all kinds of food. Staff were very helpful in printing train tickets for me and they stored our luggage two days before we stayed there while we went on a cruise in Halong Bay.
Staff was very friendly. They went above and beyond by packing me breakfast to go for an early morning flight. I think if I had to stay over in Hanoi I would choose a more modern hotel. I needed to launder my clothes but it did cost twice what every other hotel I stayed at charged.
Liked the friendly staff and they speak English! The room was quite nice except the nice big window has a view of a wall. Book a balcony room if you want a view I guess? It doesn't really matter to me as I prefer to go out anyway. Bathroom isn't visually stunning but it's nothing to worry about; everything works as it should. All in all it was a pleasant stay. The staff takes care of you if there's any issues.
Small hotel in Hanoi.
We had a very nice time. We especially appreciated the personal service from Stephan Nguen. Not sure of the spelling.
I really wanted to like this hotel but was highly disappointed. We had a window view of the hallway, no biggie. The bathroom floor was wet, so I laid some dry towels down, no biggie. However, we were told that we had to buy our own hand soap when we found none in the room. On the second day we had no running water and had to call downstairs. The staff members were pleasant, but for the same price or less, you can find a MUCH better hotel with basic amenities.
GREAT HOTEL, LOCATION, SERVICE AND MANAGER!
The location is great for exploring the city... lots of shops, restaurants and activities within walking distance. The staff and service was fantastic. I can't say enough about the hotel manager. His hospitality went way above what you might expect. Even assisting me with a visit across the street to replace my lost glasses. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
It was good to stay there but the room was dirty
It's a nice hotel and staffs are nice except the room it was dirty
Good stay, great service but room need updating
we booked in for 5 nights and we were impressed with the foyer. unfortunately, we weren't so impressed with our room. the room we were staying in was in need of updating as it was looking fairly tired. unfortunately the view from our room was a wall! I think the hotel is in the process of a makeover as the hallways were being painted during our stay. however, we enjoyed our time at the Hanoi City Palace hotel, especially with the help of the staff. They were really helpful and couldn't do enough for us. we booked a trip out to Halong Bay through them which I would definitely recommend. they also offer airport pick up/drop off which was useful. the breakfast was decent too. the noodle soup being a favourite of mine. Same as a lot of other places in Asia, they didn't do too well with western breakfasts! the location was good too as the hotel is only about 10-15 minutes from the lake. In the main, we walked everywhere and we found our way to the majority of the sites fairly easily. The hotel does provide a map with the main tourist attractions on it which was very helpful. All in all, we enjoyed our time at the Hanoi City Palace Hotel and would recommend staying here (perhaps ask for a room with a better view!)
Not worth it.
Nice staff but poor quality of the rooms.
3 nights in Hanoi
The hotel staff were really friendly and very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. We had read reviews about the rooms having no windows . This was true but the room was clean and comfortable . Bathroom was clean with a good shower. Some of the decor good do with a touch up but it was fine for us. Breakfast was very good but kitchen staff often forgot what we had ordered despite writing it down and had to be asked again. Hotel was in the old quarter and in a great location. Lots to see and places to eat and shop. Reception was always manned and they were very pleasant and polite.
Nice hotel
I and my wife have one night in this hotel. The generic feeling is satisfactory.
3 nights at the Hanoi Palace hotel.
The hotel was in those quarter and a perfect location for local sights, places to eat and shops. Reception Staff were very friendly and keen to please. They were very professional. The kitchen staff didn't seem to have the same level of professionalism. The food was good but they kept forgetting what we had asked for and we had to keep prompting them. They seemed quite young and were not very focussed. The room was nice and it was quiet. There are very few windows in the hotel however if you want views as it is between two other buildings so windows will only be in front bedrooms. We were concerned after booking that recent reviews were very derogatory but when we arrived it was much better than we thought and we had a good stay. We loved the area especially the lake where at 6.30 am you can walk around and see all the exercise classes taking place and even join in. Pool were lovely.
Ok stay
Check in was a disaster. Arranged transfers did not arrive and the the front desk wanted to retain our passports. No information at check in about breakfast or amenities. Cold water in bathroom for 3 days because it's not obvious the water heater is in the bathroom (it looks like a light switch). Attempted to charge us on checkout for services not used. Many breakfast items were not available when ordered despite being on the menu. Positives: staff are polite and helpful, room is cleaned daily, location is good.
Central with nice room and good service
Centrally located, nice room, and really really good breakfast; no buffet, they prepare it for you instead. Visit Hanoi in the weekends and go to the near by lake in the evening. No traffic around lake, many people, and fantastic atmosphere
Nice hotel close to almost everythings
Not recommend 1 day Halong Bay cruise . You will spend 8 hours on bus to and back from port. Take at least 2 days 1 night trip.
Nice hotel at the center of old quarter, hanoi
Nice hotel, friendly stuffs, clean n comfortable room, a bit small space tho, but worth for the price. Walking dstance to many attractions in old quarter, shopping, foods, lake n church.
Well worth the Price
The hotel was in the middle of the old quarter making it in close proximity to the sights and is also able to arrange tours for the customer. The rooms have sufficient facility save for a slightly noisy air conditioner
Beautiful Hotel
We only stayed 2 days, unfortunately. The decore is really wonderful so we would have liked to stay longer. The staff were really friendly and helpful with great smiles. The breakfast was a la carte with plenty of variety.
Good budget hotel
Our stay at this hotel was pleasant. The hotel is within walking distance of many attractions, although it's not right by anything in particular. Our room was large and fairly comfortable, except that the room felt constantly humid/muggy and the towels were thin and starchy. The staff was very friendly. Overall, very good accommodations for the price, and for just a couple of nights.
I would rather pay more to stay elsewhere.
Hotel kinda rundown, badly need a revamp. Nothing is good here except the good service by the staff. Housekeeping was bad. Exhaust fumes from kitchen, bad smell, noise from aircon, water pumps...Given a choice, I would have rather paid more to stay elsewhere. Disappointed stay.
Overcharged - for the room we didn't have
Because my one year old baby was with us so we booked and paid for the family suite in the hope that there'd be room for her to run around in. Instead, the first night we got put into a twin single, then a double room the following nights. When we made the complaint and the manager said family rooms were fully booked. This is completely unacceptable. Why did you sell something you didn't have? Following the complaints made to the hotel manager Phong, the hotel proceeded to process the refund with hotels.com. We expected to pay only for the twin single and the double room we stayed in, which meant the rates were much lower than what we paid for. Instead, the refund was only 25% of the total paid which meant we were still overcharged for the actual room we used. We feel completely cheated and will never come back to this hotel again, despite coming to Hanoi quite often for work.
Good value
THE HOTEL IS GOOD, AND FOR THE PRICE (I PAID AROUND $13 USD) A VERY GOOD DEAL.
close to Old Quater
overall experience in hanoi is awesome. Few things about the hotel 1) the hotel is a bit old and run down (few cracks on the wall and some stain 2) family room in the 2nd floor was facing the busy street . therefore it was noisy till 12am. Balcony door unable to close properly. 3) water heater needs to be improve . there was no water supply the last day when we want to check out but the staff responded right away to fix it
Good experience!
The staff is really good, accommodating and helpful...
Great location needs updating
I stayed here in Hanoi. The first room (303) was nicely apointed, but it smelled like mold and rain was leaking in down the back wall. The bathrooms could use outdating. I went down to the front desk and the hotel manager was very accommodating. He followed me up to the room and apologized for the smell. They changed my room (to 302), and I was satisfied. The hotel breakfast was very limited. There is a lot of room for improvement here. If all you want is a cheap place to stay, go for it; but there are better rooms available at other places.
Good location, great service.
Good location. Extremely helpful staff. Food average. Room 205 was better than Room 305. 305 had poor wifi and stained floor.
It was a bit noisy because of the other guests. Mouse spotted in the dining area. First breakfast not so great service but not others.
Dubious Hotel
Dirty and smelly bathrooom with little clean towels. There was grouts on the walls of the bathroom. Hotel attempted to change our hotel upon checking in to another hotel which is a backpacker hotel which was not ethical. Our room was only cleaned when we insisted on taking it.........lack of housekeeping preparation.
Best ever staff I have come across! Was robbed in Saigon and these guys helped get phone! Cards replaced and sent over!! Amazing hotel and staff
Great location hotel not quite as the photos show
When you see the photos to this Hotel you are expecting what you see something quite luxurious and stunning, in fact it isn't quite as it seems, the Hotel was clean, comfortable but not as plush as you expect. The staff were either over the top friendly or came across very rude. Be warned do not throw any of your free compliment bottles away as they charge you $1 for the bottles! this is not explained to you. The hotel is an excellent location as you are walking distance to everything. The breakfast was fine, and like I said room was comfortable just not what the photos sell
Good value hotel in good location
The hotel is located just off a busy street, but we had no problems hearing the noise from within our bedroom. Staff were very helpful and good to us and the room was basic but great value for the price we paid. We stayed for 4 nights, the first night we ended up in two singles but the staff where more than happy to move us to a double the day after.
Place was fine and the staff were nice. The travel desk was always trying a hard sell with high prices though which I could have done without.
Just be transparent
The hotel was fine. Although my first night I was shuffled to another hotel (my room had plumbing problems) These things happen. The morning I was checking out, I came down, handed over my key and sat to wait 30-40 minutes for my pick-up to Ha Long. As I stood to leave I was stopped, until I paid 18 U.S. for my airport shuttle. In my country a shuttle does not cost 378,000 dong. If that is usual, then tell me during the emails back and forth or when I checked in. Or OUT. Waiting til the bus arrived to pressure force me was suspicious. In a strong armed way. I would not return there.
Hotel fine but didn't honour our booking
Despite a prepaid booking for 4 rooms the hotel only had 3 rooms available. After over an hour and without offering an alternative, the hotel suggested we cancel our booking and return to the airport!
Well Recommended Hotel
A great hotel with very friendly staff who could not do enough for you and in a great location
Meh
Not very impressed! Phenomenal service, however; bathroom was moldey and the shower was leaking. Room felt a bit chlosterphobic because it had no sunlight or windows. Was expecting more..but if you're looking for just a bed to sleep on for the night, this room is sufficient. Good location!
THE STAFF & MANAGEMENT ARE ABSOLUTELY 1st CLASS!
Stayed here in June, loved it. Came back, loved it. Plan to come back again. You should DEFINITELY stay at this hotel for value for money, GREAT staff and its central location. Highly recommended. Oh, the breakfast is great too (the Chef makes a really DELICIOUS omelette!)
Great value and service in Old Quarter
We received excellent service at this hotel. We stayed there three different times. The breakfast is delicious, cooked to order. We booked trips to Cat Ba and Sapa through the hotel and they included pick up and drop off at the stations - very convenient and a relief to us since this cut off the taxi touts and haggling. We are happy to recommend Hanoi City Palace.
Good location, Nice Staff but rooms with problems
For 3 nights we changed rooms 3 times.... both first rooms had problems with air cond. (water leaking in room), Bed sheets were not changed or looked unwashed. Staff were helpful and tried to find solutions.
Convinent clean and friendly
Great value for mone, we had great time, friendly staff not very fluent in English but that doesn't matter when you paying less than 1/10 of hotel in London and getting a lot better service. I will recommend this hotel.
Good location but no external window in room
Service was great; staff very friendly and obliging. However the room had a window opening onto the indoor stairwell so lacked any natural night- rather claustrophobic by second night. However if you don't mind that; no other downsides.
Great hotel and accessible to everything.
This was our first impression of Vietnam and it exceeded our expectations in terms of everything it offered. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Excellent value for money with very knowledgeable front desk staff. James was amazing! The freshly cooked breakfasts were delicious!
Do not recommend
Hotel's main concern is squeezing people for money especially US dollars. They tried to charge five US dollars per person for breakfast which for anywhere in South East Asia is a ridiculously high price especially for the quality they were providing. I ordered a croissant and was instead delivered an omelette and upon telling the server that I had not ordered that, she replied with 'We out croissants. You eat this instead' and left the omelette in front of me. To put it simply this place is just not worth the money. You can find nicer service and better quality elsewhere.
A Hotel at the heart of the Hanoi Old Quarter
We stayed 5 days at Hanoi City Palace (September 2016), The room is very neat, walkable distance to most of the Hanoi old quarter tourist attractions.
Good Hotel in Old Quarter
Although hotel is located in old quarter is quite calm. Friendly staff.
Walking distance to central Old Quarter
This hotel is not exactly near to the central Hoan Kiem lake, but its within walking distance ~10 minutes. I booked this hotel because of the raved reviews, to my disappointment the hotel just was not as what I expected it to be. 1. The hotel staff could not speak proper English. It was fine until we're at the dining area. Its a small space with ~5 round tables, where you order what you'd like. The menu was standard, but there was a lady staff who was just awful. She laughed at other customers' orders when she could not understand them, and did the same to us when she could not understand my questions. She even shared and laughed at the cooking area with her colleagues. How unprofessional. 2. The mattress in the room was so soft it hurts the back. This was minor issue as we know this isn't a 5-star hotels. However, the bathroom was a MESS. I have attached some pictures of the walls and sink. The walls were so moldy and black, as if no one scrubbed them for ages. It is just so disgusting to shower next to it. Maybe the sink had a different configuration, but we just couldnt find a way to flush the water. It stayed full for a few days until the cleaner magically opened up the centre block. I would recommend all travellers to bring their own toothbrush as they have extremely hard ones. The only good thing was that the concierge staff (a lady) was very friendly and smiley, she was the only one who could speak some English and guided us to our room.
Good holiday will return
staff very friendly n helpful. We booked tours with the hotel n very good.
Good all round hotel
Excellent breakfast served by the ever cheerful Sunflower and her hard working kitchen staff. All staff friendly and helpful. A comfortable place with a handy location. Enjoyed my stay and would return.
Lovely hotel in Hanoi
Lovely stay in Hanoi. Hotel good, very accessible to places in the city. Very cheap hotel but clean and airy.
Just one friendly staff, terrible hotel condition.
Overall: Quite a bad experience. Main reasons: a) Paid for family suite but downgraded to junior suite because they overbooked. b) Water supply in room was cut off for long periods of time. c) Sink tap wasn't working for the bulk of the stay. d) ordered scrambled eggs, they gave me an omelette, I told them and they sent it back to the kitchen. The chef just chopped up the omelette and it was given back to me half a minute later saying it was scrambled. Redeeming factors: a) 1 staff was very nice and polite throughout the stay. b) good location
The staff was very helpful and attentive. We also booked 2 tours through the hotel and they were both great. The staff made the whole process very simple and easy. They were both excellent tours!
Nice hotel close to everything
Warm welcome, very friendly and polite staff, good room, very good breakfast.
We had a nice time in Hanoi. The gentleman (did not catch his name) at the hotel was very nice and helpful. He made our stay very pleasant for us.
Great hotel
Great hotel. Staff were superb. Location is very good to get around from.
It was a great Stay
Great stay, comfortable, good breakfast, professional people at the front desk and very competent and professional manager Mr. Pham.
Nice old hotel with good atmosphere
Everything was nice. Have stayed there many times before.
Convenient, Safe Location in Old Quarter, Plus a D
When we arrived, we were told our room was ready, offered a welcome drink & a sales pitch to take their tours. We said we'd rather see our room. The atmosphere changed. We given several excuses why we could not see our room. Ultimatly, they admitted that a couple occupying our our room had decided to stay longer. As a result, we were required to spend the first of our three nights At Lucky 3 Hotel, a block away. We were shown a miniscule room. After much haggling were provided with a room large enough for us and our suitcases but without a window (like sleeping in a coffin).. The following day we were allowed to move to Hanoi City Palace Hotel. The room was beautiful and the air conditioning worked
Perfect budget hotel
+ Good price + Nice people + Amazing tour agency by mr tonz
Wonderful people
I traveled alone for 5 nights at City Palace Hotel, my room was spacious, clean. Breakfast is fine. I had a short time, so i just went to some 01 day tours as: Halong bay, Hoa Lu - Tam Coc, Perfume Pagoda and Mai Chau. Mr Tong arranged everything for me. Comparing with others, i surprised that he offered me a very good price, service of all tours are wonderful.
Welldone!
We came here very late, staff was welcome by their best. Next morning, we booked our package tour of Hanoi - Halong bay - Hue and Ho Chi Minh city with Mr Tong. I definitely recommend EVERYONE to this amazing hotel & agency.
5 star service
Mr Tong arranged our Vietnam trip from airport pick up, hotel room decoration and Sapa - Halong bay package. It is 5 star!
HANOI CITY & VIETNAM TRAVEL
Hotel is in the center - easy to access everywhere. I booked tour with this agency, all tours are so reasonable and well-arranged.
Good value and good location in Hanoi
Check in was smooth and efficient. Nice room with choice if wifi or cable internet. Breakfast OK but should try to showcase more of Vietnam's amazing food. Staff stored our bags without charge for a few days when we went to Sapa. Good value for money after taking Expedia's sale price into account
Ok hotel, nice staff.
Staff very nice. Room was big but the TV and laptop provided di not work. Breakfast service was poor - very slow and not a buffet style. Breakfast was served in a very nice looking area, but due to a fish pond there are biting mozzys everywhere
Had to change rooms
First room was AWFUL. Facets wew broken, bathroom was BAD (dirty, poorly maintained, vanity sink loose from the wall) sheets on bed weren't changed (hair on the bed sheets ) smell in the room, closet wall were dirty. Hotels needs to purchase new towels and bed sheets. Towels were no longer white but gray and worn out. Second room was better....not sure why there are these differences. If all rooms were like the second I would definitely recommend. Overall it's a 2+ star hotel
Recommend to ring up before you arrived to the hotel if the room is available for you or not, even you made the booking. I arrived and had to experienced with a hard time to find another hotel to stay as they are fully overbooked. They took me to another hotel nearby which is in a creepy street and it's look terrible scary so I refused to stay.
Nice , cheaper hotel near the old quarter.
A driver waited for us and picked us up at the airport. After arriving in the hotel, we were greeted warmly with cool drinks. The hotel staff was helpful in every way that I can remember. Street noise may be a problem for some people, but not a real problem.
A helpful front office employee makes our day
On the day of arrival, much to our dismay, we were told that the hotel was over booked and there were no rooms available. We were upset as we had a firm booking from Hotels.com and money had been paid for all the three nights' stay. A Mr Tong arranged to move us to a nearby hotel for the night and agreed to move us back the next day. He was most resourceful to organise for us to return the next day and had been very pleasant and helpful to us during the last 2 days of our stay.
Very friendly staff
DO NOt book a tour through hotel. You can get EXACT tour for much less at tour booking offices which are on every street corner. Good breakfast which is made to order. Bathroom was nasty but room was nice except no windows. For the price it's a good place in a decent location.
Good position
. Use the hotel pick up service was good , arrived late and tired and staff very understanding when we didn't like our room they upgraded it w no xtra . Staff very helpful and your desk even better !
Excellent hotel
Excellent hotel with very helpful staffs. Free breakfast was nice too. Location is very convenient. will definitely stay here again.
Why not!
IT is a Very short time but i had an amazing memory with Mr Tong & Pham. I just did 01 day trip in Halong. Booking with them, so easy and great offers.
The most comfortable stay EVER.
Nowhere better, ask Mr Tong for everything: upgrade rooms, tours to Halong bay.
Average standard hotel
Everything was fine. Nothing bad nor good to say about. It's just an average hotel which will meet your basic necessity.
Our great but short time in Hanoi
Our stay was wonderful the staff is/was very helpful. They gave us suggestions and we had a great time because of it. Our only regret is that we wish we had more time to stay and visit longer.
Great hotel and location.
Room and hotel were beautifully presented. Breakfast was quite nice. Staff were nice. Good location to the sights of old quarter and hoan kiem lake.
Excellent Service & close to all attractions
The staff were excellent they allowed me to check in at 5am in the morning after my night train from Sapa. They went beyond their service level i have seen them talking to other guests as though they were friends for long and it's close to almost everything which means you save transport cost! Didn't get to try their breakfast though! Will recommend this place to anyone
Great, affordable, central hotel
We only spent one night here as a stopover before going to Ha Long bay. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was friendly. We were in a room with no windows which might be better since there was no noise from the street. The beds are king size and four pillows are provided with nice bedding. Our room had a one-person jacuzzi tub and our friend's room had a nice big stand up shower with rainfall head. Breakfast was overly crowded and we needed to wait in the lobby until there was room at a table. However, once served it was delicious!
Nice hotel, good location
small rooms at reasonable prices, great staff, good breakfast included, good location.
Great staff, good location, great value
We used Hanoi City Palace Hotel as our base for exploring northern Vietnam. We came and left three times and will go back again before we leave Vietnam. The hotel has a good location. It is near the Old Quarter, the train station and Hoan Kiem Lake. The staff arranged taxis, stored our luggage, let us use a bathroom when we arrived on a 5 a.m. train and before we left on a 10 p.m. train, helped us find a sym card vendor, and arranged a packed breakfast when we left for a plane before the dining room opened. They could not have been more helpful. The hotel also supplied some bottled water, unlike another hotel that we used in a different town. The rooms were lovely, and the breakfasts were great. The hotel is excellent value. I highly recommend it.
This is a nice hotel and has great staff. The location is handy to the Old Quarter and railroad station. I recommend it.
Enjoyed our stay.
Large, bright and comfortable rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Happy to stay again and recommend to others.
Great Value for Money
Great value money, clean place, freindly staff.
Centrally Located & Can't Beat the Price!
The Hotel City Palace was centrally located near the location we need to be at the next day. The property was very clean and nicely kept up. Staff was most gracious and ready & willing to help! We had requested 2 beds, but when we arrived after 11:00pm, all they had was a single King bed. They were very apologetic; we told them it was just fine and not to worry. Our room was very nice. The next morning, we were greeted in the restaurant where we expected some coffee and sweet rolls. We were handed a menu and offered to select anything we wanted as part of our package. The hot food was cooked to order, and was absolutely delicious. there were also many fresh fruit juices, smoothies, yogurts with fruit, and baked good. Once we were done eating, they actually came back to the table with a menu and asked what else we would like! Unbelievable! Oh, and I forgot to mention, the entire cost for all of this was less than the cost of a meal at a chain restaurant in the US! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an expensive yet wonderful place to spend some time.
No room available on arrival.
We arrived at 10:30pm, after a very long day travelling, only to be told that there was a problem with our room and we would have to stay at a nearby sister hotel. We were put into a taxi and taken to the other hotel, which was not of the same standard. The room was run down, and the air conditioner leaked water into the room. We were commencing a tour with another company, who use the Hanoi City Palace as the base, so were staying 2 more nights, and the hotel upgraded us to a Suite as compensation, so although we were not impressed with our first night, we were happy with the rest of our stay
Excellent hotel and staff
This is the second year I have vacation in Vietnam and stayed at the Hanoi City Palace. The staff is excellent. Rooms are nice and clean. Excellent location. Safe area. Able to walk around at night or by yourself.
Affordable quality in the heart of the old quarter
We were extremely pleased with our stay at the City Palace Hanoi. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathrooms were well stocked with the essentials and then some and we loved that the shower had a tub and didn't get the whole room wet like most places in Asia. The staff was extremely kind and helpful- happily assisting with all of our questions and inquiries. The wifi was reliable as well. Very good value.
Great location. Staff were fabulous
Hotel was lovely, staff were very helpful and friendly. Would visit this hotel again.
Fantastic Service at Hanoi City palace Hotel!
This was (bar one) the best hotel we stayed in whilst in Vietnam. The staff are very service oriented and happy to book tours (though we went with Vega in the end, bit cheaper and offered more variety). The breakfast was fantastic, the front desk staff who spoke English were amazing. Our only gripe was that put us into their 'sister' hotel the first night (some problem with our room) a short walk away, and that was incredibly noisy/open to traffic and we didn't sleep, so slightly ruined our first day. Also next door there was rebuilding going on (there always is in Vietnam we concluded) and that started quite early, but less noisy than the first night!!! Good clean bathroom & well laid out. Complimentary fruit & water.
Great staff, ok hotel
Staff were lovely and couldn't be more helpful or friendly. However, our room experience wasn't quite so good. A bit pokey and the floor was dirty (black feet after walking around barefoot). At night there was also a strong smell of cigarette smoke coming up into our bathroom which was unpleasant. Breakfast just ok, Location and price very good though so not bad overall but not excellent either.
Great Hotel
Loved this hotel! Great staff, great rooms and decor, very clean. The breakfast was free and pretty good. Lots around and right in the hub of the Old Quarter. Would definitely come back.
Ignore the small print
Saw this hotel in passing and thought looked interesting. Reasonably priced by western standards. Booked a deluxe room with city view. Upon room inspection informed that no deluxe rooms have city view, error in listing. Only family suite has city view and balcony, despite apologies hotel declined upgrade stating suite taken despite showing avail on website. So less than ideal start. However staff were high effort, and otherwise fine despite view of a brick wall. Corridors uncarpeted so a little noisey, but bathroom clean and spacious, room a good size. Probably falls into delux hostel range rather than budget hotel, but other guests seemed happy. Good breakfast included.
Great location and awesome staff
Right in the shopping area, everything at your doorstep. The staff are so accomodating but not looking for tips. One day, I walked through the foyer and coughed, so they brought ginger tea to my room for my cough free of charge. Will assist you in anyway but not expect a tip in return. Great location, awesome staff
HANZ Hanoi De Maison Grand Hotel | Hotel in Hanoi | Travala.com
arrived really early in the morning (1:20 AM) before check in time and staff was very helpful and friendly in helping us. gave us an available room where we can rest and moved us the next day to a much bigger room for my family as a soon as the room was available
