Budget but Good
My experience was fine. Great location! I'd stay there again. Solo traveler just needing a place to stay. It was really noisy a few of the mornings. It sounded like a knocking sound as soon as I would almost fall asleep. They lock the front door so if people stay out late, they bang on the glass to get in. That was annoying. Everything else was great. Super friendly front desk.
Great stay
Great location! I’m going back next week
The staff were so helpful and always had a smile on their faces.
Wow! Everything you could ever want or need in a hotel! We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite upon arrival and it was AMAZING! We so enjoyed the balcony, large immaculate room, modern bathroom and the breakfast is UNBELIEVABLE! Plus the location is PERFECT!!! And the staff...so friendly, welcoming and willing to help! Always smiling! We absolutely LOVED this place!!
Fantastic stay! The staff constantly checks on you when you walk by and offers great recommendations. Planned both of our tours to Lan Ha Bay and Ninh Binh easily. Great location. Great breakfast. Highly recommend
Fantastic stay! Staff helped me organise and booked trips to Ninh Binh and Lan Ha Bay. Both were excellent! Room and breakfast great . Location nearby downtown. Highly recommend
Great stay, great price
Service was overly friendly, breakfast was cooked to order, room condition was great.
Happy hanoi guest house
Nice hotel in the heart of old town hanoi. Within walking distance of the famous lake. Just be very careful of the roads. Walk accross dont run!. Initially booked for 2 nights, but hotel sorted an excellent trip to ha long bai overnight tour, able to keep our luggage safe so only needed an overnight bag. We returned to hotel for an additional night ar an excellent rate. Hotel organised taxi to airport and from airport to our new hotel. Loved our trip to hanoi, very busy but very good at the same time. Staff very friendly and kind. Breakfast is very nice and cooked to order. Thank you hanoi huest house x
Friendly staffs, great hospitality.
Staff were so lovely and friendly. We stayed there between going to Sapa and Halong Bay and they made coming back each time feel like coming home. Highly recommend staying here.
Check in was irritating, we just arrived from a 6 hrs Sapa Bus to Hanoi. They asked us for our Passport, gave it to the clerk. She then tells us to go have a welcome drink and wait in the lobby. We did. Then after 15 mins, we were told our room was ready. She kept our Passports and told us she would give it back when we came back downstairs, ok we left to get settled and came back to go out and eat, Passports given back. 4 hrs later, front desk calls our room (while we were dead asleep) requesting for our Passports again. We went down with our Passports only to find they did not need it. What the world?!?! Frustrating to say the very least
Get the balcony!
A cute guesthouse that's just easy and simple. We went for the balcony room and we loved it. For breakfast, we kept the doors open and ordered in so that we could sit around to eat while the city was waking up. It's smack dab in old quarters.
Real nice place and the street wasn’t as loud as most in the area. Daisy at the front desk help me and answered all my questions. Quick elevator and good full breakfast. Great place and would stay again when in Hanoi.
Was able to book on short notice and became a satisfied customer! Stayed for 2 nights in early January 2019 and was provided with excellent service by Mai, Hien, Thao, Law, Dinh, Cong and Sang. Located in the heart of the Old Quarter within walking distance to everything--including the Night Market. Although it is easy to become a little overwhelmed when first bombarded with all of the things to see, hear, smell, taste, etc. of the Old Quarter, Manager Mai, in particular, helped us to navigate through the city and offered 3 good recommendations for dinner which were all excellent and helped to arrange a day trip to Ninh Binh that was just right for our limited stay. The two breakfasts that we had were really good, as the chef makes a mean omelette and tasty French toast! As our return flight left at midnight, we were even allowed to grab a quick shower before heading out at about 9 pm after having had checked-out that morning and left our luggage at the front desk all day. This was just one example of how the staff really went out of their way to assist us throughout our short stay. Would definitely return!
Amazing staff! Warm and friendly and always giving recommendations and assisting with whatever questions you might have! Our room had a balcony overlooking the street down below and it’s beautiful! We could see people working, eating and the local life happenings. Loved the daily complimentary in-room snacks, fruits/drinks/snacks in the lobby and the personalised freshly prepared breakfast every morning. The only thing that made it 9/10 was that on two out of the 5 days we stayed there, the hot water didnt work very well. However, I must commend the staff for offering a change of room or to use another room’s shower. But we didn’t want to go through all that hassle so we just made do with the not-so-hot water. Would recommend HGH to everyone else visiting Hanoi! We left some valuables in the safe when we headed out for a 2-day trip and it was safe! I would stay here again next time.
Good location, good service and good price Nice to have free snacks in the room and fruits in lobby everyday. Breakfast is delicious, fresh cooked and many choices. Staffs are friendly and very helpful to our needs.
Friendly staff. Nice location. Take away breakfast provided.
very good reception staff. Hotel provide take away breakfast.
Wonderful hotel in great location! Amazing friendly staff, great breakfast and coffee. If I’m ever back in Hanoi will stay here again!
good hotel but be wary about tours
Generally the staff was pleasant and service oriented BUT not one in my travel group will ever forget the horrible experience we had when we were convinced by a lady staff at the front desk to book a much more costly tour with promises that it is far different from the cheaper one we wanted in the first place. She promised and even guaranteed it. However, the meals, bus service and boat trip along Halong Bay turned out to be the same as the inexpensive one. We were duped from US 29 (elsewhere it was US$ 23, try Hotel Han Be nearby) and we each paid a whopping US 42 ( the US$ 3 was taken off when we said we were not interested in the kayaking). We all agreed that the US$ 19 difference will make a difference in style, comfort, service and meals. WE WERE DEAD WRONG ! IT WAS THE SAME WHETHER we paid $ 23 or $ 29 or $ 35, the usual rate paid by other guests. In the end, she just returned $15 for all of us. But she has lost a lot of goodwill and trust in the hotel. Her colleagues all tried to make amends for her later by being extra nice and giving us each a scroll gift.
The hotel location is fine.
Even the hotel is not 5 star but the service and the staff friendliness us worth 10 star. Will definately come back to this hotel in the future or recommend it to other friends.
Very good
It was a amazing stayed with the guest house. The staff are friendly, can communicate well with then, they speak English well. The room is clean and spacious. Truly a home away from home!
It was awesome. The staff were great and hospitable. I'd highly recommend this hotel.
Good experience
Good staff, the rooms are so clean and spacious, there are snacks and beverages in the lobby all the time
Well situated hotel
Staff went out of their way to make sure we hsd all we needed. We used this hotel as a go between trips to Sapa, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh and Mau Chau. The hotel kept our extra luggage and ensured quick check in and out. I highly recommend this hotel
Almost perfect.
Good communication from the host after booking along with helpful notes, directions. Location is superb for the Old Quarter-it's in it -and a step away from "beer Street" There are numerous eating and drinking options nearby. Check-in was easy and despite being early (by about 1hr ) we could go to the room as it was ready. Room was spotless, bathroom had a bath and shower, and there were complimentary items that were replenished daily (coffee\water\snacks). Bed was a good sized though a little cramped in the room, I did find it a bit hard for my liking but that's me. There was a safe and ample storage space with hangars. Air-con worked Breakfast was very good with Asian and Western choices. The fired eggs and bacon were excellent. All the staff were very helpful and polite and most spoke good English. So here's the CON. If you are an early to bed type then expect to use the Hotel supplied earplugs and possibly not get to sleep until midnight, The street right outside is closed (at weekends at least) for buskers and markets. Buskers use microphones and speakers! We had "entertainment" on Friday\Saturday-till 23:00 and then a little earlier finish on Sunday\Monday Just be warned.
Walking distance to shops and cafes.
Staff were extremely friendly and ever so willing to engage you in a chat. Room was spacious and clean. We were on the 3rd level, and our room was next to the lift and it was still so very quite. Prior to arriving at the hotel, we had to wait for our pick up for about 1/2 eventhough we had arrv on time. Couldn't locate any signage and driverr and had to call hotel to find out about the missing pick up person. Would have been wonderful if driver was able to speak some English as we didnt know what to expect. The suggestion of the restaurant (The New Day) across the road was not up to expectation although this may be due to the fact that our expectations were higher. Enjoyed the selection of food at breakfast. Hotel is extremely generous with the numerous choices for guests. We stayed through the weekend and the atmosphere in the evening was fantastic. So glad we chose Hanoi Guest House. We did however missed out on the complimentary dinner as it happens on alternate Saturdays. I am sure it would have be great! Wonderful experience.
Great Location and Staff
The location of the hotel is fantastic - right in the middle of everything with shops, bars and restaurants all around. The staff were really friendly and welcoming as soon as we arrived! Nice breakfast made to order, included in the room price too. We stayed twice - firstly in the normal room (bit tired in decor, but comfy and great value!), then went back and stayed in the room with a balcony...it's worth it for a few dollars more! You can sit out and be in amongst the hustle and bustle from a few floors up.
Fabulous hotel
Hanoi Guest House is located in the perfect spot in Hanoi. It's close to restaurants and bars as well as the main tourist hot spots such as Water Puppet Theatre. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. Loved staying here and would definitely return.
Helpful and friendly staff
The hotel staff saw us aligning our car, they quickly come forward to pick us up on the street and help us with our bags. They are free flow of coffee/tea and fruit all the time.
Clean affordable hotel with great staff
Great little spot in Hanoi near lake and shopping
Great location and super helpful staff!
Staff couldn't do enough for you including tourist bookings and were personable, enjoying having conversations with me. The room was exactly what I paid for plus clean/tidy/cleaned daily, bed comfortable, bathroom sufficient/clean and in the heart of Ma May street which is great for nightlife, streetfood, markets and meeting other travellers in bars etc. I loved Hanoi. It's traffic is crazy and the scooters are like a river flooding, but it blows the senses in a good way, the food is delicious (walking food tour is a MUST as is Hoi An Prison Museum) and most locals I talked too were really interesting with the younger ones having a great attitude towards the modern world while straddling tradition. Very clever people the Vietnamese.
Great staff make this a homely stay
The Hanoi guest house's mantra is a home from home and there are some nice touches that don't make you think you're staying in a hotel. The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of there way to help you and are not pushy at all about booking trips; I actually think I should have waited and asked their advice before booking my Ha Long Bay trip. They even let you come back and take a shower after your trip, even if you're not staying with them. They provide a free buffet breakfast l with lots of options, alternatively get out really early and take the short walk towards Hoam Kiem lake and pick up breakfast with the locals. At nights it's a stones throw from numerous restaurants, bars and bia hoi but far enough from the action to be peaceful. Overall throughly enjoyed my stay and Hanoi Guest House and would highly recommend it as a base to explore Hanoi.
great hotel and lovely staff
Room condition is great, and very nice and welcoming staff
Clean rooms in a great location
Hotel was very well kept. The staff was great. Rooms were very clean. The location is great, right in the center of the old quarter. Even when the streets were very loud in the evenings with music playing, we could not hear anything from our room. Nice and quiet. Wifi and ac worked well. The only negative; one morning our bathroom smelled like cigarettes. I think someone in another room on our floor was smoking and it travelled through the ceiling. Once we turned on the bathroom exhaust fan, the smell went away.
Absolutely phenomenal
Hanoi Guest House was far and away our favourite place to stay during our 10-day trip to Vietnam. The staff were friendly and helpful, going so far as to escort us to the train station to make sure we got on all right. Without even needing to ask, we were offered the option to have our luggage stored for free during our 2-day Halong Bay cruise (which was also booked for us on very short notice despite it being tourist season). On our return, we were allowed to use their shower despite having checked out already. The rooms were clean, the breakfast was decent, and there's free tea and snacks in the lobby day and night. Location is excellent too, within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and attractions.
Get amongst it!
Hanoi? Your just going to have to go see it for yourself, it's amazing + the hotel is right in the middle of the old city's hustle & bustle. The staff are so helpful and pleasant. I'm definitely going back.
Great location and premium happy service
Very accommodating. Also upgraded our room for free
A friendly hotel in the middle of the action,
I liked the room, and the staff were friendly and helpful; the travel arrangements were efficient, and I enjoyed the trip. I liked my balcony room with a view of the street, and the location next to an old house and on a lively street with good restaurants and street food nearby.
Good choice in hanoi
Perfect location, nice staff, my friend and I had a wonderful experience here
Home from home
Located in old quarter but still near to all sights. We paid a little extra for a deluxe double which was well worth it. Room had everything we needed plus complimentary juice & fruit in reception. Free wi-fi connection good too. Good choice of western & local breakfast with tea & coffee.
Worth for Money
Room is spacious because they upgraded our room. Right opposite has a nice restaurant. We stayed here much happier compare to Noble Boutique hotel.
Home away from home.
This was more like a home to us than a hotel. The hotel is at a high (vietnamese) standard, breakfast is good, rooms (that we had = 2) were spacious, modern & clean. The real high point is the staff. They treated us like family and couldn't do enough for us. Brilliant people.
Almost like a home not a hotel.
We could not fault this hotel. In the centre of the Old Quarter it was obviously well placed. The condition and decor of the hotel was great. The breakfast was not extensive but was certainly adequate (the only place we found that offered Cornflakes with milk for breakfast). But what really makes the Hanoi Guest House stand out is the staff. They fussed and fiddled with every aspect of our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. And the smiles were beautiful. We actually spent some time with 2 of the reception staff comparing baby pictures with each other like we were long lost family. Our verdict; Our best value hotel in Vietnam.
Great hotel, right in the middle of the action.
Our first trip with a family of 6 to Vietnam & what a great Hotel. We booked 3 x rooms, were picked up from the airport, offered a drink on arrival. Lovely staff, went out of their way to help to enjoy our stay. Great breakfast, large clean rooms, nice bathrooms, plenty of hot water (we were upgraded to the Honeymoon suite). Initially stayed 2 nights, then returned a week later for another night. Wanted to stay for a night a week later but they were booked out, manager walked us down to another hotel (3B Hotel) where we booked. This hotel was also clean & tidy & had great staff.
Super awesome!
Not only are the rooms in great condition, the hotel in a great place in the city, but the staff will go above and beyond to help you with whatever you need. The first night we got there we arrived quite late from the airport, we were all very hungry, the staff walked us to restaurants in the area. Usually they take you to a certain place because they have some sort of agreement but we didn't like the first place and the staff gladly took us to another spot - no pressure. They also helped us book a tour for Halong Bay and helped us in general with getting around. Really glad we stayed here!
Centrally located, Close to shopping, sites, food
We found the Hanoi Guesthouse to have very friendly, service-oriented staff. They arranged tours for us according to our interests and took care of all the details. For the price that we paid, we felt we couldn't have done better in getting a clean and comfortable hotel. We loved the location, too, because we were very close (within easy walking distance) to shopping, restaurants, an ATM, and interesting sites.
Wonderful guesthouse, not to be missed
What a value for the level of service and amenities you get. Lovely staff, spacious we'll appointed room, tasty breakfast included. So helpful in booking anything you need, great location right in the middle of the old quarter. Will be back!!! Thank you Hanoi Guesthouse for contributing to an unforgettable Vietnam experience!
Excellent location in the Old Town
Great value for money and very friendly, helpful staff.
Wonderful Hanoi
We booked the Hanoi Guesthouse online and made a great choice. We stayed here for 5 nights over 3 visits to Hanoi. By the end we felt like part of the family. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. They had a solution to any problem, including boot repair! Luggage could be left between stays and take-away breakfast was supplied for our early morning departure. The rooms were very comfortable and facilities great. Location was excellent, close to Hoan Kiem lake for early morning walk. Situated right in the middle of the old quarter.
Great Hospitality
We found it very helpful to be guided by the tripadvisor rating for our final hotel selection. Hanoi Guesthouse (4.5 rating) is centrally located on May Ma Street, within walking distance of several local coffee shops, the main park, the water puppet theater, and a variety of market streets. Across from the hotel is a wonderful vegetarian restaurant, shops and several tour companies well worth looking into. We enjoyed our stay tremendously, and the warm hospitality of the staff, headed by Ms Nga. The owner, Ms Linh has a seasoned eye for decor, feng shui, comfort, creating a quality breakfast service and sleeping environment which makes Hanoi Guesthouse a place you would definitely recommend to others. The staff helped with several personal requests, and made the stay memorable, friendly and pleasant. Look no further. We would stay there again upon a return trip to Hanoi.
Great quality hotel
Room was quiet, clean, and the hotel is in a great location. Breakfast was good, staff very friendly.
No show airport pick up x 2
I sent two emails specifically requesting airport pickup! We were flying in at 12:30 am and it was very important to me to be met! They didn't show up! Finally took a taxi after much haggling who drove 50 k all the way from the airport! When I got there it was closed, banged in the door to wake someone up and was told they were full! But took me to another one down the street, which was ok! Was told by someone else the same thing happened to them! To be fair they paid my fare back to the airport!
Superb !
Best hotel in vietnam ! Excellent location, excellent service, excellent breakfast. The staff are amazing and they are always ready to help. English excellent. You have to go there !
Hanoi Guesthouse - Ha Noi Vietnam
Excellent guesthouse and close to everything. Hotel and Reception staff very helpful with places to see. Booked all our trips, transport and accommodation to Sa Pa, Ha Long Bay, Nimh Binh and Hue through the hotel and all went smooth. Some minor hiccups but not worth mentioning. The guesthouse is comfy, clean and the breakfast superb. All staff speak good English which is a bonus. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Very Satisfied Guest !
Hanoi Guest House was a pleasent supprise in all respects. My room ( the Honeymoon Suite ) was on the 7th floor at the rear and was very comfortable and relatively quiet considering the constant noise from the traffic below. The front desk staff were brilliant, always smiling and helpful, making several taxi bookings for me and explaining my destinsation to the driver each time. Breakfast was nice, a limited selection, but very tasty. Ma May street is very central for all shopping and restaurants in this area. Overall, a very satisfied guest !!
First time in Vietnam, already my fav Guesthouse
Fancy picking the right hotel on the first go! I went to Hanoi for a friend's wedding and stayed at Hanoi Guesthouse for 3 nights. I shared a room that had 2 single beds with a friend and so it was ridiculously good value. Staff are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and go beyond their duty to make you feel at home in what initially appears to be a crazy country (westerners will experience a bit of a culture shock on Day 1). Definitely coming back to Vietnam and definitely looking forward to staying at Hanoi Guesthouse again.
Great Service
The Hanoi guest house was conveniently located for major sightseeing in the old quarter of Ha Noi. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was quiet. There were several good restaurants located in the same street. The breakfast was good. The most outstanding feature of this hotel was the service we received from the bell hop to the receptionists. They go out of their way to help all the guests, from arranging tours, giving you access to a room when you are leaving after check out. I strongly recommend if this is your first time in Ha Noi to email them to get a car to pick you up. Saves alot of hassle.
good
stay one night and when ried on spot for additionnal day at same rate, where not able, so change place with your assistance
Great location with the best service
When you arrive to this good located guesthouse, there is people already waiting for you with a cup of tea and a huge smile. The rooms are very good for the price you are paying and the breakfast is good as well! This a very good option in Hanoy
We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was funny since we have been married 38 years. Our room was very pleasant and sunny and we had a balcony. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. We recommend the Ha Noi Guesthouse very highly.
Stay Here!!
If you are in Hanoi, this is the place to stay! The staff is amazing, incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is right in the old quarter, close to everything you need. The included breakfast is nice as well. They also held a great christmas eve buffet dinner in the lobby for all the guests. So definitely stay here!
Great overall
This hotel met all our expectations and more. Perfect location in old city to experience the feel of Hanoi. Excellent service from the staff. Good breakfasts.
Perfect for sightseeing
We booked the 'Honeymoon Suite' because it looked a bigger room on the photos and had a balcony, not because we were on honeymoon. We were given a smaller room without balcony but were moved after we spoke to reception. However it made us smile that they had decorated the bed with rose petals, little heart shaped boxes and bride and groom teddybears - we've been married 42 years! The beds were extremely comfy - just what we needed after travelling for 30 hours. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was basic but made to order and adequate. The hotel itself is in a great location for sightseeing. We only booked in for 2 nights and wanted to stay longer but they were fully booked. Tip: There's a great little Vietnamese restaurant just across the road to the right of the hotel, good food and good prices.
Outstanding hospitality
Guesthouse is not new but very clean with comfy beds. We were able to overlook minor defects eg faulty mirror light, because friendliness and kindness of staff made our stay of four nights very enjoyable. They were happy to give us electric jug tea bags and milk for our room, breakfast was quite adequate, staff very responsive and attentive to requests. We were given good advice on tours, they arranged taxis when needed. We thought the location in the old quarter is excellent with the lake less than 10 minutes walk, and plenty of shops, restaurants, and ATMs nearby. The New Day restaurant almost opposite is a great place for low cost meals of very good standard. We would definitely stay here again.
It was a pleasant stay at Hanoi guesthouse. In fact, this is my second time staying in the same hotel without my notice :). Hotel location is good and within walking distance to tourist spot and recommendated restaurants and the most importance is the staff is friendly! Is a good place to stay!
Great hotel in a great location!
Centrally located and within walking distance to everything. Very clean, great staff, and a wonderful free breakfast.
A very happy stay here
We stayed for 4 nights and were extremely happy with the room provided , the service and the location all tops. The breakfast was the best we had in Vietnam. Staff was not pushy to sell you tours. If we would come again we definitely would stay here again. Jorg and Jackie
Top marks for staff and location
Very happy with our stay here. The ladies on the front desk were incredibly helpful and knowledgable. Nice to have genuinely smiley and kind people to help you. Rooms fine, but a bit dull. The double was very spacious but the single a bit pokey with no natural light. Breakfast basic but we still appreciated it! Overall a great stay if you don't want to spend time in the rooms.
Très bon accueil. Personnel au top. L’hôtel est bien situé.
