Hideaway with Views!
Stay was a picturesque fantasy view with charming B&B elements in the house. Charming hostess and beautiful breakfast. Minor issues with TV remote not working so TV did not work. Hostess was lovely. Said we could reach out to them for anything, but was unclear how to do that once we made it to our room as the house is not clear about where the hostess stays or how to get in touch.
Great stay!
Fantastic location, great privacy, incredible views. Much more relaxing than chasing the ferry or buses for day trips. Incredible and attentive personal service and great amenities. Would definitely stay here again.
We visited Halstatt over the Christmas holiday and fell in love with this gem of a town. While it is a bit overrun with tourists at this time of year, Halstatt Hideaway is set above the hustle and bustle and always offered a quiet escape. We stayed in the green suite and had beautiful views of the lake and town from our windows. Breakfast provided by the staff was a treat each morning. If you're planning on visiting during Christmas, beware that a lot of shops and restaurants are closed, so you'll need to plan ahead. Put Halstatt and Halstatt Hideaway on your bucket list...it's the type of town you can't get lost in and beauty lies down every tiny street and around every corner.
The owner of the property was easy to communicate with prior to our stay, and ensured someone would be there to check us in when we arrived from the ferry. It was a nice, private location away from the “hustle and bustle” of the daily tourists. The hot tub was an excellent touch and the view from the place was unmatched.
DO NOT STAY HERE! This was one of the most horrible experiences I have had dealing with customer service. The owner of the property made personal insults when I needed assistance. There is a significant amount of construction right in front of the property that destroys the view and there is rotting in the bathroom. The listing states the rooms are soundproof and they absolutely are not - we could hear lots of noise from other areas of the property and jackhammering right outside our window from 7am before sunrise. The owner refused to assist and threatened to involve her lawyer when I requested a partial refund for the misleading information on the listing. The owner was also awful to her staff member in front of us and refused to help in anyway. They said that my complaints were a “personal problem” despite many other guests complaining about the same issues. Again, DO NOT STAY HERE - plenty of better ways to spend your money and much nicer accommodation in Hallstatt which is beautiful.
What an absolute picture perfect village and amazing hotel. The Hallstatt hideaway was incredible. It felt like fairytale. Highly recommend. One of the nicest spots I’ve ever stayed or seen.
Parking was a pain, and a bit too far. Especially in the rain.
Hallstatt is a fairy tale place. Hallstatt Hideaway is beautiful and we were treated very well. We highly recommend!
Beautiful room. Had to wait for the staff. (they are in several locations) That is the only down in this beautiful place.
I went into this with eyes wide open after reading all the reviews. Yes the parking is a long way away (you can’t drive in the town), and yes climbing the steep staircases with luggage is difficult, but the place itself is wonderful. Provided you arrive at the P1 parking lot before 7:00pm and call the number you are given at least 30 mins beforehand, and providing someone in your party is fit enough to carry your luggage several steep and narrow flights of stairs, I highly recommend the place.
We loved staying here!! Roshni was so kind and quick to reply to any questions we had. My husband loved the option of reserving the sauna. Please note, you will have to walk with your bags to reach this as it is not accessible by car and you will have to take your luggage up the stairs.
Best in Hallstatt
The best you can get in Hallstatt! Staff was friendly, we arrived early and they helped bring our bags up the stairs. Room was huge with amazing views. Breakfast was a nice touch as well! Can’t wait to return
Worst travel experience I’ve ever encountered, & we are frequent travelers. First, poor communication & a disorganized arrival. You cannot park by the hotel, but at a designated lot with no Hallstatt Hideaway shuttle is available to you despite being told you are assigned a personal contact to assist with checkin. They don’t have their own shuttle, where the other hotels do. We waited at the designated lot for 1.5 hours, with random shuttles arriving that can only seat 6-8 people, but mind you there are 40 ppl waiting & more arriving with no order. From 3p-7p we attempted to call the property for assistance but no answer. After waiting 1.5 hours we were advised to “walk it.” It’s about 2 miles through cobblestone streets & up countless steps with no signage to indicate its location, direction to travel, or where the checkin is. We parked at 3pm, we didn’t arrive & check in to the hotel until after 7pm. Upon arrival to the property the owner & an employee were present. The owner was rude and condescending. She told us this was not her problem and she didn’t care since she’s already been paid & we should just be glad she allows ppl to stay here. She discontinued the conversation after mocking us & offering no support, apology or resolution. As other reviews state she takes no accountability and shifts blame. Her communication and reasoning are juvenile, especially attacking a 70 year old woman (my mother).
Hallstatt hideaway is situated one road above the waterline and difficult to get to with luggage. I think this would be true for most properties however if the property description had been clearer about this I would not have booked as our trip did not allow for me to pack light, this was just a short stop on my holiday. The view from the suite is good but the rest was a real let down. There is no one to help with luggage when you get there so that would be another thing I would have liked to be mentioned. For the price point I would except better amenities, cleaning without having to ask for it (and then further prompting them to come in after I returned), fully stocked fridge, access to the sauna without extra payment as we had on the other lake front properties which actually had direct access to the water. Our particular superior lake view suite has no air conditioning due to the ‘preservation of the property’ which is fine but better cooling aids should be provided than a small Dyson. I have stayed in many preserved properties and had a great time. The service needs work. Eg. tell guest we have to be organized and book the shuttle, WhatsApp me before so I have your contact number, tell me how to get attention at the property Hallstatt in my opinion is a day trip at best and not worth the effort to stay in the town. Most places are a massive tourist trap. Most places close early and the food options in the town are abysmal compared to other lakes in Austria.
Not worth the cost
This property is indeed a hidden gem, great location, great view, however it is not worth the price they are charging. On arrival we were met by possibly the cleaner, he did not seem to know what he needed to tell us and had to call someone who then proceeded to talk to him for a considerable amount of time, when all we wanted to do was get to the room and rest after travelling. The room had remanence of the previous guests, including a soaking wet greasy sponge, hairs in the shower, full rubbish bin and luckily we did not get straight into the hot tub as about 3 hours after we arrived someone else came to say it had not yet been cleaned and she would come to do it later. I believe there was a private garden and sauna we could use but we were not told about this and no information in the room. Considering we had a hot tub we were only given two towels and on the second day we assumed these would be replenished but on returning from being out all day, nothing had been touched. We then received a WhatsApp message about 4pm asking when we wanted this to be done! Considerably late when they had all day to do this as we left at 7:30am. This place really does have the potential to be great but they need to get more organised, train their staff and consider the little things that make a big impact on a stay
Great location and beautiful view out of windows! Roomy space and friendly service.
The hotel room view is amazing . The hotel’s communication and assistance about transportation in and out is not good. The shuttle bus between the hotel and parking lot is horrible and unreliable! It is a 15 minutes walk to the parking lot and we waited 50 minutes for the shuttle, and every time the drive said she will come in 5 minutes. I told receptionist to call taxi , and I am happy to pay taxi . Yet still they insist on the shuttle bus .
The room was spectacular and the views were outstanding
We loved the property and the staff was out of this world at taking care of our every concern.
The hotel was difficult to find. Once arrived the door to reception was up a long flight of stairs with no assistance for carrying luggage. No front desk service. The room was bare. For the charge of the night stay and star rating there was an empty refrigerator with no beverages snacks or mini bar. The restaurants and stores close early in the town and overnight there is no general store open. No concierge service was available to provide information. We had to request assistance to help transport our luggage on check out to the bus station. No shuttle provided as was mentioned in the online booking. Also there was no sauna or hot tub as is listed in the amenities. The other hotels in the town are better equipped with staff and front desk. Very disappointed with the stay. Would like a refund. Misleading advertising. Would not recommend for the simple reason that there is no value to the amount that is charged for the stay. Simple amenities not provided.
It was a best hotel in my life. The most peaceful place in the planet 😊
We really enjoyed our stay here! It was a beautiful place with amazing views. Our host, Sandra, was so welcoming and helpful. 10 out of 10
Amazing place with great staff and well located!
Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful places we have been to and I feel it has coped as well as it can due to the high interest with tourists. We have read comments about parking and baggage and I think people need to expect that it’s not a holiday destination, it’s a beauty spot in a very small town. We took small bags and the luggage was safe overnight in the car park. Work smarter not harder. We had one of the more traditional rooms which was cosy and had a great view of the lake and We had a kitchen which was handy. We had a log burner and could have done with more kindling than what was supplied. Heads up- A gentleman came to collect room tax, no issue but could have been done at check in. Hallstatt is worth seeing and is beautiful from the sky walk. My advice is to wake up early and see the town before the coaches of people arrive.
Perfect for couples that want to relax. Beautiful view and character.
Amazing view, amazing breakfast, the apartment was perfect.
Pretty but poor communication.
The place seems cute in pictures. In addition to not being all that great a few things to know.. first, they email asking for arrival time and stating they will call you with the code, they never called us or called us back.. we just showed up. The breakfast option only has one option, no menu. Also the drain in our shower didn't drain fast enough to keep up with the shower, so we had to take multiple short showers, one for shampoo, conditioner, etc to let the drain catch up.
Absolutely Incredible!
Our stay was phenomenal. We stayed in the beautiful ‘Holz’ suite and could not have imagined a better experience. Everything was cozy and magical. The team was excellent and very helpful with any requests and questions. I recommend getting the breakfast with your stay, the meal was delicious and presented well.
Best stay ever
Beautiful cottage with authentic architecture, but a new kitchen and bath. Clean and cozy, and very romantic.
Halstatt trip 2023
It was an amazing place. Cozy and well kept. The views wow. Sandra was very patient while we found parking. Well worth the money.
Just a beautiful property to stay at, lovely amenities, clean and quiet. Super comfortable and beautiful views to wake up to. We stayed right up until the last minute to enjoy this space. The host of the property was also very friendly and helpful.
Very upscale, terrific views, very helpful staff, but lots and lots of steps.
Best location with good view from the room, highly recommend
Disappointed for the price
No parking, No TV, i walked 2 km on the rain to closest parking 6 euros an hour
The room has so much of the original building and was so well preserved. Beautiful view of the lake from the windows. The town closed early so the evenings and early morning were very peaceful. There was a nearby park that was also a wonderful place to sit and relax once the crowds were gone. Good dining options.
Extremely well located. The room had a very beautiful view to the lake. I would recommend this hotel. The staff was very friendly, we were received by a guy from Argentina and ge was very helpful and nice. Great stay!
The heated hot tub with its view of the entire lake and most of Hallstatt was the highlight of our honeymoon trip. Elena and her colleague were most helpful during our entire trip.
Dream come true
Absolute dream come true accomodation, worth every penny. We went week after Easter so the town was really quiet too. Hosts were really welcoming and quickly resolved any issues.
Our room was beautiful and lived up to the pictures. The apartment and jacuzzi were very clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The apartment also came with nice appliances such as a Dyson hair dryer and espresso machine. I would give 5 stars for the room itself and cleanliness. My only complaint is that there was an employee who kept showing up at our door to collect city tax of 6 euros. Not sure why this wasn’t brought up during check in, but his credit card processor was not working and he would not accept cash - so he kept appearing out of nowhere to try to collect our money. When we got back from dinner he was lurking on our steps and followed us up to our room at 9pm, and then appeared early in the morning. He also had access to our room through a hidden door (which he came in and out of a few times) in the bathroom which was a little startling. We had a little trouble sleeping knowing somebody had this type of access to our room. The employee was very nice, but for a “private suite” our experience did not feel very private. Overall, beautiful room and very nice employees / timely communication while planning our trip. We just would have appreciated some more privacy and communication when it came to showing up to our room.
The transportation to this hotel is horrible. You have to carry all your luggages to walk 400 meters on the stone rocks road in order to get in or get out. Basically I spent over 400€ to do work out.
Property was difficult to access. Called hotel to get help but was refused saying it would be an easy 8 min wall and with two luggages it was anything but. There was foul smell in the bathroom and drainage issues. The view is nice but not worth the price and other issues and there are far better hotels in Hallstatt at this price range in my opinion.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights around Christmastime in the Royal Suite (Walds). The room is very spacious and beautiful. However, the lake view is the most incredible part of the experienece! We spent quite a bit of time sitting on the bed staring out at the lake. We loved how quiet the property was. The private garden was also such a lovely, peaceful retreat away from the crowds, so don't miss visiting it, even in winter. The property representative - Sandra, I believe was her name - was so kind during our stay and made sure we were comfortable at all times. Tika was a friendly face at check-in and carried one of our bags up the stairs. As others have noted, if you stay in the Royal Suite, you will need to climb some steep stairs. Keep that in mind in terms of mobility issues as well as the amount of luggage you bring. We had no problem, but just a reminder! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend it. You can't beat the view!
Great getaway and hideaway!
We loved our stay! Although it was just a 2 nights stay, i think it is sufficient. We have managed to explore around, visited the salt mine, ticked all 'must take picture" sites. It was a very laid back getaway and we loved our room. We had a jacuzzi at our balcony, so when it rained and we have no where to go, we will soak in the jacuzzi as it was sheltered. Very relaxing and cosy room. Everything was self sufficient, and very thoughtful to provide wifi speakers, smart tv and a little kitchen for us to cook simple food. Great view from the window too!
Perfect location for a solo traveler like me! The view is perfection!
Great views, nice staff, great location, Lots of stairs, floating floors creak a little when walked on. No onsite parking anywhere near Would happily return again
Awesome location with AMAZING view of the lake out your windows. Few things to note - stairs are very steep inside the property so if you have any mobility issues please be aware. Also we arrived around 7pm and there was almost no one to greet us. One of the caretakers thought the other one left us instructions on how to get key but they hadn’t. We would not have been able to get in otherwise.
I had the penthouse suite with the direct view of the lake. It is definitely worth the stay. The suite is very clean and remodeled like new in the bathroom area. You need to walk and climb up stairs to reach the property. If you have big luggage, it is better to get the Prime taxi to help. The property will provide breakfast if requested. You will have to go out to dine other than breakfast which I don't mind to dine 5 minutes walk next to the lake. The property manager is very nice and communicated well. Will consider to come back again with fewer luggage.
We had a perfect stay at Hallstatt Hideaway last week. Everything was gorgeous and just as photographed with a convenient walk to the ferry. Our host was so kind and
Really enjoyed this property. Very friendly staff and very clean. Helped us out when we needed it and would stay here again!!
Book the Holz suite! We had such a magnificent view over the lake and woke up to a gorgeous sunrise that you really can't put a pricetag too. Sandra took care of all our needs & was super attentive, she accommodated our check-out requests and also gave us plenty of tips about the town. We communicated primarily over WhatsApp. I really appreciated all the personal touches! I also highly enjoyed the ridiculously high-quality bespoke speakers they installed in this cottage: we put on some classical piano and read our books well into the night, it was a whole vibe. Definitely strongly consider booking this property as it offers you a unique experience in this gorgeous town. It's well worth the price!
Perfect romantic getaway
Hallstatt Hideaway is absolutely incredible! We had been in communication with Sandra before our arrival and she was there to welcome us when we got to the property. Our room was so cozy and comfortable and we had an amazing view of the lake. Everything was very clean and the extra touches like the Dyson hair dryer were impressive. Sandra was so sweet- she went out of her way to get us something we needed from the store on her own time. I would stay here again if I came back to Hallstatt!
Hallstatt Hidaway
Amazing boutique hotel Jaw dropping views Wonderful personal touch Relaxing and invigorating
Romantic getaway
Hallstatt Hideaway is a beautiful boutique hotel perfectly located in Hallstatt. We stayed for two nights in the “green room” and the views were fantastic. The amenities are great with premium lotions (there’s even a dyson hair dryer!). The bed and duvet were super comfy. You will need to climb up a few steep flights of stairs to get to the rooms so something to keep in mind. There’s no parking near the hotel so you’ll need to park in P1 and take a shuttle or walk for about 15 minutes. We were lucky to get parking but the spots do fill up quickly. Overall, a beautiful place where’d I recommend staying for a romantic trip. However, for the price and hotel grade. there were a few things that were lacking or could have been improved upon with service. On a side note, the food in Hallstatt was pretty poor and pricey. Do not eat at the restaurant right by the hotel. All the food tasted like it came from the grocer’s freezer section.
I love this hotel in hallstatt. If I would visit to hallstatt again, I stay here. Host are very kind and warm. Everything in the hotel is good for guests. I highly recommend this hotel :)
One of the best mountain hideaways you will find!
This was truly one of the most beautiful and quaint places I have stayed. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and cannot wait to get back there again soon.
Hallstatt is amazing and the hideaway Salz penthouse has awesome views. Sandra was a wonderful receptionist and the staff is super friendly. We chose the suite because of the hot tub. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very clean and wasn’t working properly while we were there which is keeping me from giving a higher rating. All in all though I would stay there again.
The lake view was amazing. The room is decorated very good and feels so warm. But if you bring a large luggage, you better get well prepare for the hard work out. A long stairway is there.
Our room was very warm and inviting with exposed beams and antique wood floors and a canopy bed. We also appreciated the heated floors in the kitchen and bathroom.
We loved everything about the property and the location!! Just perfect!!
We loved the location and all that Hallstatt has to offer. The Hideaway itself was misleading; the photos that we received did not match the room-it was apparent that the picture was made for promotion rather than accuracy. Sandra was amazing! She was lovely and apologetic of our experience. Had it not been for her and our desire to enjoy Hallstatt, we would have left after first night.
Absolutely amazing.
Words can’t describe the amazing view you get from your bed. So relaxing and just amazing. It’s like your battery gets recharged just by being here. Can not recommend it enough.
excellent all round
beautiful location and really lovely accommodation
Beautiful room in lovely historical building with stunning view across lake and mountains.
Enjoyable stay! Highly Recommended
Very enjoyable night spent in Hallstatt Hideaway. Excellent view from the room. Sandra is very helpful and gave us good recommendations for lunch and dinner.
it's so beautiful place. Nice and unbelievable view.
The hotel was easy to find and the views were nice but that was about it. On arriving it took a while for someone to come to check us in so we just stood around waiting. The room was fine but I wasn't impressed with the "modern" décor. The fireplace didn't work properly, the iPad didn't work properly and it is impossible to get a hold of an employee otherwise. Since the iPad didn't work we were unable to let anyone know that we were ready to check out and again ended up waiting forever for someone to come help us. Overall this was the least enjoyable hotel we stayed at during our trip.
Nice room with good view
The room is clean and with good factilities. Although this is only stair in the house but the staff can help to take your luggage. Every moment when look at the windows you can see the view of the lake. They also have a private garden beside the lake so that you can enjoy this paradise away from crowd. The only thing I need to comment is one window of my room is very close to the living area of next room so that their voice can be heard easily.
My stay was nothing short of amazing. The host was exceptional. Hopefully next time I'm in Hallstatt I am able to book here again.
Highly recommended for a special getaway!
Had a wonderful 2 nights at Hallstatt hideaway. Great view, nice fireplace and helpfulnstaff. I loved how they have the latest appliances like dyson hairdryer, ipad and coffee machines.
Comfort place with a beautiful view
The place was very beautiful and peaceful. Perfect for a getaway trip.
Amazing view and extremely comfortable room.
Amazing view and extremely comfortable room. We had a great time and will definitely be back.
Good room view
The room had a nice view of the lake and mountain - Nespresso machine is a good addition No elevator to carry ur bags! We had three heavy ones Room didn't smell nice! Maybe because of the hot weather and no air conditioning. There wasn't slippers in room even though it says in the website
Beautiful setting, but hard to reach service staff
This is a very nice setting for the hotel--overlooking the lake and main street. We had a very spacious room and enjoyed relaxing. However, it is a bit of a climb to the hotel and to the room. The service staff require that guests take off their shoes in the front desk area of the hotel. This makes the climb to the guest rooms trickier on steep, narrow stairs (especially with bags). We did ok, but we're very mobile--this would be hard for older guests. It was difficult to reach the service staff to register for breakfast (offered at a nearby restaurant). The staff seems to only be around for guests checking in/out. We emailed the service staff email (we did not have phone or SMS service) and the hotel manager replied much later and seemed indifferent. We enjoyed the residence, but would consider other hotels in the future.
Insgesamt hat es uns sehr gut gefallen
Hallstatt Hideaway - Adults only | Hotel in Hallstatt | Travala.com
There was black mold and yellow staining throughout the entire shower and bathroom. Pieces of the flooring was missing by the kitchen and bed.
