Good location. Housekeeping staff enters irrespective of the DND sign so beware!
Hotel location was amazing, not to far from train station, use grab to call a taxi (its like uber), lots of food option in surrounding area, including Halal resturant. Forbidden city is walking distance. Whats app, youtube, google, facebook, and other apps dont work in china, also most shops (and i mean most) dont accept visa, make sure to have we chap or ali pay downloaded and ready, or take out cash from lots of near by ATMs or Money exchange. Roads are really quite becuase most cars are electric. Hotel room nice and clean, hotwater in shower is fast, TV all chinese channels. We booked a private car ro great wall of china, you can do a tour which is cheaper but wont have to option to return when ever you like. Make sure to have translater ready on phone, most dont speak english.
Nearvto shopping area, but the hotel high time to refurnish as carpet duusty, electrical appliances, lights not in service
Nice hotel with helpful staff with mostly good English. Close to the Forbidden City and good shopping streets. 10 minute walk to the metro.
Beside shopping street. Near Metro train station. Some good restaurant just nearby. The hotel rooms are very decent and spacious. Will stay there again
The concierge was very helpful with our travel arrangements. The hotel room was very comfortable and the hotel was conveniently located close to Subway stations & restaurants.
This hotel needs an update
This hotel is old, but we like the location and nice service staff.
Air con is not on, Very stuffy. Hotel a bit round down
I booked the hotel because it used to be an excellent Crowne Plaza. The hotel is very different now. The standard of service was poor and the hotel facilities were disappointing. The wifi was only patchy and it was slow. The aircon made a noise but didn't actually lower the temperature in the room. I was provided with a fan which helped a bit but was noisy. The concierge and front desk couldn't tell me how long it would take to get to the new airport, and twice decline to order me a taxi. There was no room service. The dinner menu was quite strange, one sheet of paper, all the types of food all mixed up together on the menu. The breakfast included cakes being cut in half as if they were rationed. The orange juice was some kind of diluting juice. In my room there weren't any mugs or tea/coffee sachets. When I checked in, Reception gave me 7 packs of toothbrushes and two combs - for one person and 5 nights - mysterious! My room was a bit dilapidated, with the light socket in the bathroom not fully connected to the ceiling. A light socket in the breakfast area was also hanging down. It's a shame because the location is good but it's just not value for money and I'd not stay again.
It advertised has gym and a pool, but they are not open after the pandemic
The location is great, but the hotel condition is old and below average. The WiFi in the hotel is unreliable.
Convenient
Great central location, easy to get to all the sites and within walking distance from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Room and bathroom were spacious and clean. Staff so helpful with local information and helping make advanced bookings for tourist sites. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Never staying again
when the reception seems not happy to see you and greet accordingly, you get a vibe that something is wrong. the elevator switch is broken and 2 elevators doesn't work. room has only fresh air and receptionist informed this is how it is during these months. it is sweltering inside the room. only a single comforter on bed and no sheets!!
Everyone very attentive. Loved the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room
A bit old hotel but very clean, good location walkable to train station and shopping area. Truly enjoy the swimming pool and jacuzzi.
Well equipped and maintained property in a great location. I know language skills are tough to get in China, but the staff here really struggled with English more than in many other places.
The carpet to old smelling the bathroom also old The air condition is there dusty . Otherwise is good I enjoyed it Nice breakfast
Don't stay here
I do not recommend this hotel at all. It should lose its Crowne Plaza flag. It is not clean, the staff are not helpful, they were unable to provide taxi service, and they try get you to buy services. We had three rooms for a party of 7 and each room had a different horrible smell. This was a truly cringe worthy experience.
The hotel is outdated. The sink emitted some wired sound when I use it. The service is good though. The staffs are very friendly and helpful!
Great location and good services. More renovations needed.
Needs a few updates. Somewhat outdated.
The hotel’s biggest perk is it’s location; super close to Wangfujing Shopping district and walking distance from Tiananmen Sq and the Forbidden City. The hotel itself is severely outdated, and the hallways always smell like smoke even though the hotel has been nonsmoking for years. We are visiting in the fall, so it’s a little cooler. The room itself was extremely hot. We turned the thermostat down, but this did nothing. I eventually called the front desk and they sent the engineer to take a look at my thermostat. He mentioned that the thermostat is set to heater and his solution was to turn it off and unscrew one of the windows to let air in. For us it was a matter of deciding whether to settle for a hot room, or a cold room with the sounds of construction coming in brought the window.
Nice King Bed room right on Wanjujing st. Great breakfast buffet; both western and Chinese food options. Close to Subway stops.
Excellent location.
Very close to everything. Plenty of Shopping, Restaurants closed by. Bank Atm next door. Tiananmen square is 30 minutes walk. Staff is very helpful. Good breakfast. Hotel need some upgrades.
Short stay
It was the perfect location for our tours. We stayed four days. They had both western and Asian breakfast. They had a good breakfast selection. We walked every night to the mall for dinner. There were several good restaurants on the 5th and 6th floor of the mall.
Just good
Good hotel for business or friends
Thieves work in this hotel and the management tur.
Avoid if you can, had money stolen from the safe in the room on the first day, hotel manager claimed only himself and cleaning manager had access to the key but I know how much sterling I put in there as I had not changed any yet (also took hk$), very crafty skimming some of each currency. Rooms are dated and a bit smelly.
Helpful staff but very dirty accommodation
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. But the hotel room was not what we expected. Most facilities were dirty too.
I thought the hotel was ok. Needs an upgrade but for the price I think it’s ok. Staff are friendly and accommodating
Great Service, But Property Needs a Refresh
I love the Crowne Plaza brand around the world and actively seek it out. This property, while the central Wangfujing location is superior, has seen better days. Wood is scuffed, carpets are old, the gym was less-than-mediocre (and too hot) and you feel a bit transported back to the early 1990's or so, when high ceilings and gift shops selling local handicrafts were a thing. The staff are, as you'd expect, excellent. Service is friendly and helpful, from the guards outside to the desk and housekeeping staff. I wouldn't bother with the restaurant or room-service food. Like the rooms, they're just a bit tired. I'd love to see this property refreshed. Back in the day, it was superior. Now, it's just a reasonably priced central location, but nothing special.
Great stay and location.
We loved the hotel and the local area. Breakfast was amazing and service was great with the concierge helping us daily for our own driver to take us to desired locations. We saw no issues with room cleanliness, as ours was beautiful. Being so close to the Forbidden City and Tianamen Square make it walking distance if you'd like, and walking street is just around the corner. Loved it.
My wife and friends stayed over the mid autumn festival and during our return trip around 1am towards hotel, we were stranded because there was a parade rehearsal going on and no car, bike nor human were allowed to pass. We had to wait for hours! I called the hotel to ask if there is way we can head back and the hotel staff just said he can’t do anything and we had to wait till the rehearsal was done, he didn’t even apologize when I asked why was there no information provided to guests. And in the end, we had to walk approximately 5km all the way back to hotel as there were no cabs available. The least the hotel could have done was inform all hotel guest there would be a road closure from what time onwards and where will it be affected and allow the hotel guests to decide if they want to proceed with their plans or to stay in. Very poor PR skills and I would not recommend staying there, especially if some national event or days leading up to it.
air con a bit weak, could be cooler. The property feels old.
A friendly hotel, closer to all shopping and transportation.
Even though an old property, it’s well maintained and well designed for guest comfort. Good location for shopping and eating.
The location was good but the property was very disappointing. Our room was in poor condition and badly needed restoration. Filthy carpets....definitely not Crowne Plaza standards. That said, they had nice linens.
Nothing that I don't like. Very convenient location and generally staff are friendly.
Location and service is good. Room and cleanness still have room to improve.
Hotel is getting old.
Amazing and classy!
I loved every second of being in this hotel! This is the kind of hotel where you stay to enjoy what it offers not just a place to sleep. It was clean and well decorated, smelled great and oozed class. The amenities offered were wonderful and just what I needed! My room was spacious and perfect for my needs. They treated me with the same enthusiasm and respect as the rich lady checking in at the same time right next to me. I would most certainly come back again!
I recommend strongly!
There were some negative comments about the hotel, but our stay was wonderful. Only negative for us was that the WiFi was not strong. Besides that, the staff was helpful especially one of the lady managers at the buffet who helped me take takeaway tea for my wife and the concierge who gave us lot of useful shopping tips.
Great location
Very pleasant overnight stay whilst on a Cruise with ship docked 3.5 hours bus drive away at Tiānjīn. Great central location within easy walking distance to main Beijing tourist attraction.
Good location and nice hotel. Staff are nice and breakfast is fine.
Very good service, nice place and excellent ubication. I Felt I got more than I paid.
Nice place to stay
Everyone was extremely polite and very helpful. Answered any questions and engaged in conversation with us.
Room lack of refurbishment
The hotel is a bit old and it’s lack of improvement and refurbishment.
Overall good stay
Checkin was fast and efficient. Staff even waive my deposit. Room was big and comfy. Only regret is faulty shower head and need a long walk to our room as our room is on the opposite side of the elevator.
Giving the Plaza a Crowne!
The king bed room was comfortable and clean!
Beijing Blues
I booked the Crowne Plaza based on my prior experience with this brand. The check-in was efficient. The service from the restaurant and outlets was excellent. However, the room was the worst I have stayed in. I didn't sleep for 3 nights. It smelled of mold, there was no air purifier (and the air quality was horrific), the toilet was slow, the shower/bath nozzle was broken, walls and carpeting were old, tattered and in disrepair. The 2 twin-bed-room was, in a word: terrible. I asked the reception about another room, and each time (I did this 2 times) they would give me another room but charge me more: because I did not book through their APP.
Great Hotel.. great location
Great hotel. Close to shopping and national monuments
Unpleasant, won't recommend
Was I placed on low floors (2F) because I redeemed the nights? There were strands of hair on the table when I checked in, and the room smelled of cigarettes even though it's non smoking room. When I checked in, I was told breakfast is included (and was even told the venue). But when I went on D2, I was told that breakfast wasn't included (after I started drinking the tea!) and the staff told me there's been a mistake. Yet she showed a black face despite the error being on their part! Upon check out, I was charged for the breakfast. Although eventually they waived it, it hadn't been a pleasant experience at all!
Excellent location
Excellent location. Rooms spacious, clean and tidy. Only thing is the heater... too warm. We on aircon but no aircon. Room service adjusted on the ventilation but still warm. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay there.
Very good location, walking distance to interesting places. Perfect for shopping.
Staff service was horrible. Tried to put 2 of us into a same room despite the booking of 2 separate rooms. Some package arrived at the hotel for me and I had to ask for more than 5 times until they looked for it properly.
Outright misrepresentation
Quite possible my worst hotel stay of the year. Booked premier city view and got standard atrium view rooms. Worse still the rooms were too incredibly warm to sleep. I later understand from the duty manager, mr john wong that they were heavily overbooked and “sacrificed” us to satisfy other angry guests. It was so uncomfortable my travelling companion checked into another hotel nearby. It was only on the last night that the hotel offered to give us “an upgrade” to the room type we actually paid for. The hotel has agreed to give us a refund but refused to tell us how much the refund would be and when they intend to refund us. Very sad for a Crowne Plaza brand!
We picked this hotel because the kid want a swimming pool, but the staff required us to wear a swimming cap?!!! First time ever a swimming pool have that kind of ridiculous requirement! Smoke free hotel? Cigarette smells all over! Listed for 3 but additional rollaway bed charge 292 RMB!!
Helpful staff - good location. Would definitely stay again.
Will not stay there again
Have choose to stay due to your online booking have smoking room but turn out no smoking room available at all. Room are old, bathroom water splash out have made whole area wet including my clothes and towel
Nice hotel near public transportations! As well as nice restaurant inside.
The staff was excellent. The location is excellent. The room needed some upgrading, carpet a bit worn as was the furniture, cracks where the wall meets the floor.
Excellent breakfast good for international travelers. Excellent location for shopping and touring. We found a currency exchange machine in lobby which is delighted as we arrived during the weekend, and most banks were closed.
Hotel needs upgraded. Is dirty. Breakfast was not good.
It’s a old hotel in beijing the out side of this building NEED to clean FAST
Crowne Plaza Beijing
Nice foyer but rooms are dated and badly scarred. Internet connectivity is terrible. Club Lounge and health club are of a good standard
A very nice hotel in a perfect location. I center of Berjing you can walk to shopping and dining
Beijing Trip - Sept 2018
This is a good location to stay in! It is right off the Wangfujung street - a shopping street and there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance. The Forbidden city and Tiananmen square are both about 30 min walk each. Closest metro station is Dengshikou about 5 min walk. The staff is friendly and helpful and had good enough English to communicate in. No issues with the wifi but of course you will have trouble getting on to some of the western social media sites. I had booked a room with single king bed. The bed was clean and comfortable. The furniture in the room however was dated, especially the chair and ottomon fabric had stains - definitely needs replacement. The carpet in the room and hallways also needs changing. Bathroom was clean and well maintained and the shower water pressure was adequate and temperature control was good. The hotel lobby is nice, clean, welcoming, and has comfortable seating - although will be nice to have more seating in the lobby. I did not eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on the food but the breakfast price seemed high to me. Hotel has a travel desk that you can book your city tours from. One word of caution: These tours make stops at Jade shop or silk shop or tea shop - personally I found it to be a waste of time as I was not interested in buying overpriced items and wanted to get on with the real sightseeing. I used a bus (line 13) from Beijing airport to the hotel and used Metro to return to the airport.
great location, close to CBD and shopping centres.
Nice Hotel close to Wangfujing
Check-in was smooth, our luggage was sent to our room. Good selection of western and eastern food for breakfast. only one downside, the shower needs proper cleaning.
Excellent location
Hotel was ok. A bit old but is maintained. Just want to suggest that the carpet needs shampooing cause of a filthy smell especially at the hallway. Buffet dinner needs to improve.
Breakfast very delish with great variety. The staff was polite and hospitable . Concierge was very resourceful . Thank you
Great location nice property excellent food and service! Our suggestion for the property to put some tables and chairs on the west side of the building for guests to sit and enjoy the outside foot traffic. Highly recommend this property!
Everything was excellent. The WiFi was too slow and not good to conduct business so I had to go outside
Good value but did not like the inner facing room
I’ve stayed at this hotel a few times now and I like it because the employees are helpful and the area is good. However, this was the first stay in one of the inside facing rooms and that made the room darker. It was not in great repair and the air conditioning was not cool enough. I called to have this repaired and someone came to check it but it was not corrected. I would stay again but would request not to have a room like this.
Not happy at all
No one could speak English, (restaurant, Drivers, cleaners, even at The reception)... no any other nationalities food at the restaurant. I wasn’t happy with them.
Great location and nice hotel
I returned to stay here again because the location is great and the rooms are comfortable. Employees are friendly but could use some training in the finer details of dealing with guests. Mildew in the shower caulking and some damage to the wooden walls in the room but otherwise comfortable. Would be nice to have more than just one bath towel in the room (in addition to the hand towels and face cloths). Good breakfast selection.
Excellent location
Very good experience
Great hotel
We received a warm welcome, front desk staff suggest a 50% discount for buffet breakfast, it was a wow for us. Hotel has a convenient location, easy to everywhere.
Our stay at Crowne Plaza
The hotel experience was good. Service and location is good. Hotel rooms look very old and it is time for a refresh. Functional but luxurious. Breakfast not very great for vegetarians.
Perfect location
Nice room, ony issue is that was facing inside towards the lobby: I would have preferred one with view on the Street. On the other side it was very quite.
Great hotel, would use again.
Great hotel with an excellent location. Breakfast was much better than described by other reviews and was worth the 150 Yuan.
good place. too small room.
Nice hotel located on a lively and vibrant street.
A comfortable and pleasant stay
It was very comfortable and pleasant stay. In the evening lively music was played in the lobby. The price for the food in the hotel is of course expensive, but over I cannot complain, because the location have its price.
Very close to tourist attractions and very helpful staff everyone knows english.
Great hotel in an excellent area.
Great hotel, other reviews said breakfast was poor but I found it to be fantastic. Totally worth the extra 150 RMB for 2 people. Great area and very nice rooms.
Great location, needs major renovation
Service and location are excellent. Breakfast was a disappointment. The hotel is in major need of renovation, rugs are very dirty and bathroom tiles not clean.
Back to the early 90s- great location but tired
Location is good- close to shops etc and sightseeing places but the hotel badly needs modernising and a bit of tlc. Beige, beige and beige is the colour scheme. Room was clean and the first generation flat screen was small but worked ok on most channels. Bathroom clean and functional. We had breakfast which was ok but nothing amazing. The swimming pool was a nice extra but you do need to bring a swim cap. Location is key but this feels like a hotel that is a bit of a cash cow for IHG- will they invest in upgrading it or sell it off to a second tier operator- or keep it as a cash cow for a while longer?
Not like a real Crowne Plaza Stay.
This Crowne Plaza stay was not what I expected and I believe when I book directly as an IHG member I get a better room and service.
I have stayed there before and I am satisfied with my stay in Crowne Plaza.
No air conditioning in the rooms until maybe May
We stayed at this Crowne Plaza hotel for just one night, we had a long layover in Beijing and wanted to make the most of it by staying in the downtown area and seeing some sights. Check in was fine and the hotel lobby is nice. But when we got into the room, we immediately noticed it was unbearably hot. We are from the Washington DC area, so we know what hot feels like, and this room felt like a hot summer day in August in DC, probably about 85 degrees or so in the room. We tried to turn on the air conditioning by turning the ancient thermostat on the wall, but even after an hour the room was still equally hot. Finally we went down to the front desk asking about the temperature, and we were told that the air conditioning system was not on yet since it was March, and that it would not come on until May. The hotel did send up a desk fan, but that did nothing to cool the room down, only to blow the hot air around. My kids and I ended up getting virtually no sleep. Thank god we were only staying in this hotel for one night, because it would have been unbearable to stay another night in the heat. Also, our room was on the 2nd floor, and since heat rises, I suspect that the upper rooms were much hotter.
3D2N stay
Reasonable priced hotel. Was there for business and so cannot expect too much. The WIFI connection was bad and buffet spread not really fantastic. The room still considered quite clean but worn down and pillows are too soft.
I’d stay here again!
Fantastic location and clean comfortable
Great location
The hotel is nice but the rooms are a little tired. Staff is very helpful and speak various languages. The location cant be beat.
Good value on the Wangfujing
Nice hotel at good value for money. Showing its age a bit though with a few small issues in the rooms. Staff were very helpful in getting things fixed as soon as we asked. Rooms were much better facing the outside than the ones facing the inside (which were stuffy). Great indoor pool with jacuzzi and sauna. Very good breakfast.
Convenient hotel location
Overall was good except the smoke smell in the bedroom for the last 2 nights stay. Provided feedback to the hotel management but the hotel was not able to do anything to rectify the problem.
Close to city centre
Walking distance to shops. Whole hotel needs an update. Definitely not a five star, its more like a 3 stsr hotel.
Nice hotel close to Forbidden City
No complains, which is good coming from me that travel a lot.
