Guesthouse U-en Hostel

A fantastic hostel to start my trip on. The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke decent English. They have maps and guides for the surrounding area, so you’ll know all the restaurants and train stations around you. Very accessible, as it is within walking distance of a train station, even with a large suitcase. It’s also handy having the cafe on the main floor with a great breakfast and coffee!

Cozy and quaint hostel in Osaka

This cozy hostel was perfect for my trip to Osaka. The manager was so obliging and caring. The bed was cozy and comfortable - showers were great. No complaints.

Cozy hostel in the heart of a foodie neighborhood

It's a short 5 min walk from the train and subway stations. This place is in the heart of where all the delicious small Japanese restaurants that are frequented by locals. Staff was helpful and friendly - often ready to help.

Staff were excellent - super friendly and helpful, even helping to carry our luggages up and down, and made us feel at home :)

The staff were so amazingly friendly and accommodating. And genuinely interested in what I had planned around Osaka. They also had some nice tips and advice for traveling the area. The room/bunks were decently sized, the only downside was it can get a bit warm in those bunks, but there was a window we opened which helped. The location and staff and accommodations of the hotel itself are all incredible. I’ll be coming here again on my next trip for sure!

1階のカフェがオシャレで、朝ごはんが最高に良かったです。これこそがゲストハウスの醍醐味。土地柄、近くに銭湯、マッサージ、飲食店もあり立地も良かったです。 マイナスポイントとしては、宿泊客のマナーがあまり良くなかったところ。ただ、これは運みたいな要素もあり宿の問題ではないかもしれない。

Stayed for one night, it's an ok hostel

Good location, room is small and basic. Bathrooms and shower rooms are very tight. No towels provided for free. Thin walls.

Guesthouse U-en

This hostel was not a good fit for me. The bottom bunk was so low that I was unable to sit up in it. The sinks were in an open space in the middle of the hostel. There were many low beams throughout the hostel. Towel rental is 100 yen a towel. However, the showers were hot and it was approximately a 15 minute walk to Osaka station, so those things were nice.

The staff really make the stay, they are incredibly friendly and helpful. i was able to leave my bags after I checked out and even came back early afternoon to charge my phone. The capsule I stayed in was nice and clean. It was quiet at night, so I didn’t have any problems sleeping.

Great value for money but very quiet location

This hotel is in a quiet area with no much to do around but it's perfectly connected to the action, so definitely recommended to save some money. The staff is super friendly and the hotel and room have everything you need. It's a small guest house though, so don't expect a super spacious place but it gives you that warmness kind of feeling due to its size, you feel like at home. Wifi is not good at all, I struggled the whole day but the rest of the amenities are quite good.

Nice guest house

Typical guest house, clean tidy, basic and small. Staff were good, if you want dinner in the cafe/restaurant make sure you book.

Very well situated location

The private room we had didn't suit a person with any form of dust allergies. There was no windows and the tatami matting in such a situation doesn't air well. The space overall was really good - though the over-enthusiastic eco-timer on the toilet lights meant you had to wave a hand above your head about every 15 or so seconds or else contemplate in the dark.

Had a blast here. The staff is super helpful and the feel of this place is so cool. Highly recommend it. The downstairs cafe is meh but the hostel is smack in the middle of one of the best food scenes in Osaka so getting a bite ain't no thang. Great place to meet new friends as well. Super conducive to conversations with fellow travelers. book it!

Good hostel

The room was sized as per their website which was good. The common room was large and had tea and coffee readily available which we appreciated. There is 1 washing machine and 1 dryer located in the common room which was useful and only cost 100¥ each. The downside of this hostel is that noise really does carry and none of the rooms are that far from the common room which meant people talking in the common room till midnight kept us awake.

Great atmosphere, great location

We stayed at Guesthouse U-En for one night in a double room. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly receptionist and invited to join a Korean themed dinner that night. The decor of the guesthouse is beautiful, a perfect blend of modern and traditional and its in a cool little side street with awesome restaurants and cafes. One stop away from Umeda on a JR line. I would highly recommend U-En to my friends.

guest house feels like home

I stayed at this hotel on my first day in Japan. It is easy to get to from the Kansai airport. It is very centrally located. It is very clean and its common room has a very homely atmosphere. I really liked it.

Awesome hostel!

It was hard to find, but once we did, we were very warmly greeted. The room (private traditional Japanese) was pretty cool, however the futons are not as comfortable as we would have liked them to be. The area was very busy, with lots of restaurants, convenience stores, etc. The shared bathrooms were always clean, and the showers, although small, had great pressure. Definitely would recommend it.

An over nighter in Osaka

This is a youth hostel style of lodging. We flew into Osaka and the next day took the Shinkansen to Tokyo. Traditional style Japanese lodging -- great for the experience. Staff very helpful and could speak English even though my daughter want to practice her Japanese. Good location many little shop and restaurants in the area. Easy to get to the Shin Osaka Station. If you want western style lodging then this is not the place for you. But if you want to experience the lodging that the Japanese people would normally us, this is a great experience.

Nice setting, convenient location, great stuff

It was very nice to experience living in a 100-year-old house. The room was clean and comfortable. The stuff was very helpful.

It was only a nite stay and frankly not had much time to spend in U-En. Overall, we were satisfied with their warm hospitality & services.

Great experience in Osaka

The hostel is easy to locate near JR Fukushima station, it is also easy to walk to the underground station Umeda/Osaka (10-15 minutes). I lived in the female 4-person dormitory and it was very cozy, everyone was friendly. The facilities are great. There was even a takoyaki party during my stay and it was fun. I will stay here again when I go to Osaka next time.

Nice for short visit to Osaka

I was on a budget, but this guest house turned out to be actually quite homey and pleasant. It's really close to Fukushima station, and at first I didn't know which way to go (I don't have a cellphone with GPS) There's a local Kouban (police box) right next to the station where you can ask for directions. They're really familiar with foreigners asking directions to this place apparently! The hotel is literally a 5 minute walk away from the train station though. I booked a mixed capsule room, and it was actually really comfortable. A nice soft futon, a safebox to put your stuff in and lock it, a lamp, some shelves and even an outlet to charge your phone and the likes. It was enough room to sit in there comfortably and not feel claustrophobic. They also provide earplugs so that if other guests snore or become obnoxious, you can sleep properly. They only have a couple showers, but they're fairly clean and provide a changing room too so you can bring your stuff in there. They also have an extra box filled with shampoo and lotion in case you forget some things (I think past guests left these behind, probably). The lounge is similarly comfortable, bean bags, a guest PC to use for free, tea and instant coffee. There's also a couple pots and pans and even a microwave to cook some things for longer stays. The staff was absolutely helpful, polite, and friendly. They can speak both English and Japanese. This hotel went above my expectations. Would recommend.

Enjoyable Stay (Dec 5-7 2014)!

The decor was really charming and we got to try sleeping on tatami mats. The staff were all very friendly and spoke fluent English. They had resources available such as a map of the neighbourhood with restaurants nearby marked and other info/books in the lounge. It was only a short walk to a JR station. The washrooms/bathrooms situation was better than I thought, there are several stalls of each and were all very clean. There are toiletries and blow dryers available but towels are rental though it's only 100 yen at the time of my stay. The walls are a bit thin, I could hear the occupants in the next room coughing at night but the Guesthouse provides complimentary ear plugs. Since there is no elevator, it was a bit tough to get our heavy luggage up/down the stairs but he staff was friendly enough to help us out. Would definitely recommend staying here especially with a group of friends, the environment is very laid back and welcoming!

Home Sweet Hotel ^^

A very good and nice place to stay for bag-packer,making me feel like staying in my own house. Strongly recommended for those who want to try the traditional Japanese house. I will definitely stay here if come Japan next time!!!^^

Great guesthouse!

Best guesthouse among all I stayed. Good location, clean and very comfortable. Great staff. Easy to make friends. There is even organised activities for tourists and you can choose to join the fun. One will never regret staying here.

Nice place to stay

Nice little hostel, enjoyed my night here. The staff are very friendly and speak english. Very clean and in a quiet spot right next to the Shinfukushima station.

Fantastic Stay

I loved this guesthouse. The staff were unbelievably helpful, and the facilities were excellently maintained and cleaned. As a solo traveller staying in the dorm room, I felt they had the mix between being welcoming and friendly while having a degree of privacy and space just right. The 'capsules' were a decent size, and well planned with space to store things in them; they were clean and comfortable too. The location was perfect - very near a metro station, which itself was quite near most of the tourist sights. The surrounding area felt very safe even late at night, although this could be said about most of Japan. When coming back to the hostel it's nice to have the option of going into the lounge, which has good laundry facilities and information about local sights, where you can always talk to other guests. The fact it was an old fashioned traditional Japanese house with a modern interior made it feel very special. Truly one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in, hostels and hotels included, and I don't think this place could be beaten for value for money.

Great Location

The rooms were clean and my bed was comfortable. The hostel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I didn't bring a towel, but they provided a rental at a low charge. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area, which was really important for me after arriving at dinner time on a Friday night. It's pretty close to the JR-Fukushima station making it easy to get to and get around. I was able to take a train directly from the station to my next travel location: Kyoto. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again.

베스트 게스트하우스

혼자 여행가서 머물렀는데 너무 좋았어요. 스태프분들과 주인아주머니도 너무 친절하셨고, 처음으로 게스트하우스의 묘미를 느꼈습니다!

初めてのゲストハウスでしたが、アットホームでとても居心地良く過ごせました！明治の頃の建物を改装されてるので、古民家好きにはたまりません！！そして、スタッフさんがとにかく優しく気さくで最高です！！！ 福島でオススメされた居酒屋もどれも美味しかったー。 大阪に来るときはまた利用させていただきます！ありがとうございました。

清潔感ありスタッフも優しい

YahooMAPを使って歩いていきました。大阪駅から徒歩で10〜15分です。周辺には飲食店が多く入り口がわかりにくかったです。この辺なんだけどなーとこかなー目の前だったみたいな。 清潔感はあります。ベッドもマットレスでシーツも敷いてあり布団もフカフカでした。 共有スペースで勉強したかったのですが暗くて断念しました。テレビはありません。 一階のcafeを使って良いよ！と言われたのですが寒かったのと思いの外暗かったので朝3時ごろからの勉強も断念。 ただ、それ以外ならとてもいいかも。 スタッフは優しいしご飯を食べるのも楽、コンビニも近いし安いし。 今度はプライベートで遊びに行った時に利用したいです。ありがとうございました。

自分のプライベートな空間もありつつ、他のゲストさんとお話できる場もあって一人旅だったけど、寂しさが紛れた

チェックイン時間が少し遅くなってしまいましたが丁寧に対応してくださいました。 建物は古いですが、清潔で趣きある室内はとてもステキでした。

全体的に非常に良かったです。 唯一残念だったのは、カフェ業務の対応が忙しかった様でチェックインがスムーズにできなかった事です。

溫馨服務好，睡得也很好

非常推薦這家旅館的親切服務。我去道頓堀採購時在商店遺失信用卡，但我手機SIM卡在日本只能上網﹑無法打電話，雖然商店24小時營業，但無法立刻打去確認。我回旅館發現當時已深夜，我跟一樓一位職員用英文和日文翻譯軟體求助，他非常有耐心和禮貌的用他的手機幫我撥打電話，並幫助我和店家溝通，確認了商家有撿到我的卡時終於放心了，隔天也順利取回並且沒有被盜刷。他所做的其實已超過一位旅館職員的範圍，十分感謝他對一位異鄉旅客的協助。此外雖然這是多人的房間，但大家都有盡量保持安靜，房內也有附自由取用的耳塞，連住三晚都睡得很好。非常推薦這家旅館，以後還會再來！

バスの遅延でチェックイン時間に間に合わず連絡した所対応がとても良く助かりました。チェックイン時に対応して下さった方もとても丁寧で選んで正解だなと思いました。また大阪へ行く際は是非利用したいです！

宿はとても良かった。個人スペースの広さも十分で、ゆっくり眠ることができた。ただ、宿泊者が干したタオルが生乾きになっていて、部屋中が臭かったのが惜しかった。

古き良き日本という建物でありながら、中はとても清潔に保たれており、スタッフの方々もみんな親切で、とてもステキな滞在となりました。

過ごしやすかった

清潔で便利で、一泊の宿として十分でした。周辺は飲食店やコンビニがあって便利。 夜遅くても怖くありません。 自転車も貸してもらえました。 大変満足です。

早くに着いたので荷物だけ預かってもらおうと思ったら、チェックインもして下さり、まだ掃除中の箇所もありましたが案内もして下さいました。 部屋もキレイで畳も落ち着くし、冷房も効いていて快適でした。古い建物も趣があってよかったです。 今回朝早くにチェックアウトしなければいけなかったので1階のカフェは利用できなかったのですが、今度はゆっくり利用しに来たいと思いました！

일단 지하철역과 편의점이 바로앞에 있던 점이 좋았습니다 골목을 들어가야하지만 위험한 느낌이 전혀없큰곳이고 들어가자마자 너무 친절한 사장님에 금방 익숙해지는 숙소입니다 이국적인 분위기탓인지 서양인고객들이 많았고 숙소는 그냥 평범하지만 다같이 놀수있는곳이라던디 진짜 다른 숙소에서 볼수없는 퀄리티~ 튼 추천합니다

다시 한번 가도 후회 없을 게스트하우스

간사이 공항에서 후쿠시마역까지 한 번에 가고, 후쿠시마역에서 게스트하우스까지 찾기 너무 쉽고 편했습니다. 우메다역(오사카역) 한정거장이라 이동하기도 편리했습니다. 스테프들도 너무 친절하고 시설도 깔끔해서 다음번에도 오사카에 간다면 여기를 선택하겠습니다. Thank you so much!

お洒落なユースホステル

お洒落でした。もう少し天井が高ければ、、 朝ごはんは時間がかかったけど美味しかったです。 バスルームが少しだけ暗かったけどなかなか快適でした。 また利用できたらと思います

駅近、梅田近く、清潔、安い

新福島駅、福島駅共に徒歩圏内で近く、便利なロケーション。 スタッフがフレンドリーで優しかった。電話もすぐ出てくれ、対応が良かった。 ベッドや部屋は充分な設備で安眠できた。

Nice stay

Walk 3mins to subway, take around 30mins to Nanba by JR. Staff are cheerful and helpful. Female dorm is clean and comfy. Everything is perfect :) Will come again!

おしゃれなホステル

共有スペースはシンプルに、個人のスペースは清潔感あり広めで過ごしやすかった。今度はもう少しゆっくり滞在したいです。

駅至近、親切でフレンドリー、快適

スタッフの方々が丁寧かつ親切でフレンドリー。パブリックスペースもWiFiやキッチン、トイレどれも快適。併設のカフェのコーヒーもなかなかレベル高い。ビジネス利用でも手狭なビジネスホテルよりぼくはこちらの方が断然よい。

편하게 잘 묵었어요

너무나 만족스러운 숙소였습니다. 스탭이 너무 친절합니다. 서양인들의 노매너가 약간 거슬렸지만 그 것 빼고는 괜찮았습니다.

12시 이후 숙소에 들어가면 다들 잠자리에 들어있는터라 아무것도 할수가 없다. 새벽일찍 나올때 짐싸고 하는게 부담스럽다.

従業員がとてもフレンドリーなゲストハウス

ゲストハウスを出るときは「いってらっしゃい」、ゲストハウスに戻る時は「お帰りなさい」と笑顔で（一部の従業員は無愛想でしたが）声を掛けてくれました。慣れない土地で分からないことだらけでしたが、周辺のことや目的地までの行き方等を聞いたときも丁寧に対応してくれました。寝室は複数の人が利用する空間で区切りも布一枚だったので、夜間、隣の人のいびきがうるさいと感じる日も有りました。しかし、耳栓が配布されており、特に困りませんでした。4日間という短い宿泊でしたが、とても居心地の良い所でした。

新福島駅から近く、ホテルの周りも飲み屋が多くて利便性は良い。従業員の方も優しく、オススメのお店なども教えてくれた。自炊もできるように、台所用品はかなり充実。旅やバックパッカーの人にはオススメ。

感じのよいスタッフさんがいるお宿

一泊だけの利用だったので、捨ててよいタオルとアメニティは 自宅から持っていきました。 タオルはレンタルで借りれようですし、選ばなければシャンプーとボディーソープが シャワールーム内に常備されていました。 【雰囲気】 他の方も口コミにも書かれていましたが、チェックインの際に スタッフさんがとても丁寧に設備の説明などしてくださり、 印象が良かったです！ 日本のゲストハウスの利用は初めてでしたが、寝泊りするだけなら 十分快適な場所でした！ 【設備】 ベッド・・・体が痛くならないか心配でしたが、全然大丈夫でした！ シャワー・・・さすが日本。とてもきれいでした。海外の方が利用するのでどうかな、と思っていましたが、清潔でした。よく掃除が行き届いています！扇風機や天井付近のホコリは、ビジネスホテルであればNGですが、ゲストハウスなのでご愛嬌です^^ 部屋・・・女性専用の４人部屋を利用しましたが、部屋に姿見も置いてありました。 各ベッドサイドにランプ、電源もあり、便利◎棚もついていて、ダイヤル式のカギで閉めるロッカーが ついていたので安心でした！ また大阪に来るときは利用したいと思います！
