The hotel is okay, maybe even great if you’re into “old charm”. What I can say objectively is that the breakfast (which is an add-on feature, the rating would be different if it was free) had very limited options and can’t stand close to the other better hotels in town.
I was charged for parking and local tax , which was not advertised .
Nice
We have stayed here many times and appreciate the staff and size of the hotel. We are always treated well, have an excellent breakfast buffet, and its close to the old part of of the city.
The ancien style the remodelling and the staff grwat
Great location, lovely rooms and inner courtyard. Our room was above the bar which was noisy at night.
It is a great location for visiting.
Saggy beds, slow wifi, super noisy courtyard until almost midnight and against first thing for breakfast - rooms face restaurant and car park. Noise unavailable. When I complained via email I was outright ignored. Recommend you stay elsewhere.
It is a very well located, nice hotel but I did not receive any VIP benefits at all which was disappointing. Is there an explanation?
Excellent hotel. Area close to everything.
very good
A day in Vilnius.
Great location and the hotel has parking. We have a family room and it is a large space with one bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed is not very comfortable. The hotel is dated but price and location make it a good value.
Super
I had a great stay, and the standard of the service is excellent.
Great hotel, friendly and professional staff. We will be back!
Small boutique hotel with excellent location on quiet street with green posterior terrace. Service was good. Equipment in room was old in not perfect condition, but lining of bed was perfect - cotton 100%. There wasn't refrigerator and kettle in room, but reception staff immediately brought us kettle from kitchen for our entire staying:). There isn't conditioner but weather was perfect and open window was sufficient at September. Restroom in room is separate, big, clean and bright. Breakfasts were wide range and perfect.
Very comfy and well staffed convenient hotel
The location of the hotel was very convenient for visiting the old town and very comfortable and had superb breakfast choices. Let us have breakfast early before an early flight out, booked a taxi to the airport who was spot on and very well priced. Nice to eat breakfast outside too if weather permits
There is a lot to like about this hotel, on the edge of the old town of Vilnius and close to the station, with a lovely peaceful enclosed garden and terrace, and an excellent wine bar attached. Well maintained and modern rooms in a characterful old building.
Very centrally located; hotel has beautiful yard and serves absolutely fantastic breakfast!
Very friendly staff and really comfortable. Great location for Old Town.
Due to a death in one of our parties families, the reservation was cancelled after the cancellation cut-off date. The staff was very considerate of this situation and waived it's policy of charging for the room because the cancellation time had expired. We appreciated their thoughtful consideration and recommend the staff at the Grotthuss highly.
Great location!!
Great location , nice staff . Definitely pay little extra for breakfast!!!
Old world charm with all the expected new amenities. Staff (Dimitri) in particular went out of his way to locate a much needed luggage repair shop.
Excellent hotel in a convenient location in the old town. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel or use the restaurant, preferring to sample local cafes and restaurants, but I imagine the standard would have been very good. The hotel was quiet given the prevailing Covid situation, but the staff were very helpful and professional.
Very nice hotel, only pillows could be upgraded
Good location but not very clean. Too many bugs in the room
These people a dishonest and you shouldn’t be promoting their hotel. They contacted us just 6 hrs before our arrival to tell us of additional fees. We made our reservation 26 days in advance and it was paid for. They had plenty of time to contact us prior so we could chose if we wanted to cancel, but didn’t. They waited until our cancel time passed. Then they refused to give us our money and wanted 40 euros for a roll away bed and 20 euros for a breakfast (they better be offering some champagne at that cost). I called Expedia to report them. Dishonesty should never ever be tolerated.
What a bathroom!
My room was lovely - beautiful moulded ceilings and absolutely the most incredibly well-done bathroom: renovated in a cross between neo classic and art deco style with heated tile floors and sleek fixtures. Absolutely gorgeous!
Roof was spacious and comfortable Hotel is located in Old Town and easy walking to restaurants and tourist sites Friendly staff The breakfast is absolutely incredible, I jumped out of bed super excited for their tasty treats Would highly recommend
Large room, good wifi, excellent shower, great breakfast with lots of choices. Definitely recommend the crepes.
Dear hotel
Wonderful rooms and breakfasts quiet street.
Great place to stay and feel welcomed
Great Hotel with extremely nice and welcoming staff. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and when we are returning to Vilnius, will definitely stay here again. Great location near the old town and all the bus stops.
Hotel was a bit off the main path, but that was fine with us as we like to explore when we travel. Great breakfast, very clean, staff is very helpful with whatever you may need. Property can use a bit of updating, carpets on stairs are wearing thin - it appears that they are working on expansion of some type, so maybe it’s planned for. We were on the 3rd floor, was a bit warm up there (no heat wave during our stay). Overall, it was a good place to stay.
The room has zero air flow and the window looked into a building under construction. This was booked way in advance to not get the Worst room in the hotel.
Ideal for city break
Excellent location, friendly staff and lovely breakfast
Welcoming and comfortable hotel
Lovely hotel with very pleasant staff. Stayed here some years ago and took my sister there as a treat - it’s as nice as I remembered. Breakfast room could do with a rethink though as not large enough unless it’s good weather so some can sit outside. Everything you could need in the rooms but be mindful to read the welcome pack before you use anything - that includes the robes and tea and coffee - as there’s an unexpected additional charge.
What a great gem, and inexpensive as well! Breakfast was amazing.
The hotel was nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Kamila was the girl at the front desk. She was very pleasant and helpful. She went out of her way to accommodate our needs as best she could. I would definitely visit again.
Room was EXTREMELY hot (84F!). We asked for either AC or a fan and neither of them were provided. The staff said they had a central AC and couldn’t do anything else. Very disappointing since the hotel is in great location and a nice old house. It was extremely loud as well, they had construction on site and the machines started working at 7am.
I love boutique hotels, with their unique decor and style. I wish this hotel had had a restaurant, though.
Good location in quiet street. Staff very efficient. Lovely breakfast and nice to be able to have it outside. Disappointed not to have a kettle in room, especially when the description had said they even had coffee machines. Bits showing age eg carpets.
Great breakfast but no basic comforts
Good hotel, but a bit pretentious. Apples on arrival, fancy bathroom and tub, but no basic comfort. The shower is super uncomfortable, and if you want to take a bath, the bathtub doesn't seal. The hairdryer is attached to the wall by string (we are talking about boutique hotel here....but this is kind of motel 6 style...), plus it is so heavy that you can't properly dry your hair without hurting your hand. And you have to hold the button. The garden patio outside is nice, but having a wedding there on a Saturday night well into 2 AM doesn't help rest before the flight. The breakfast is amazing, BUT they have one poor lady working the serving, cleaning, putting in orders, bringing coffee, etc... I also noticed that same lady worked the wedding banquet very lat in the evening, so she must have worked from 6AM until midnight? Questionable employee practices at best.
the hotel was in a good loction and the staff were very helpful the B/F was pretty good but more food for veggie would be a good idea
loved breakfast in the patio. amazing pancakes and out of this world bread!
great stay
was great return and return
Had a lovely stay for 3 nights. Upgrade was most appreciated. Staff for first 3 days were great and last day good. Showering was not possible without soaking the bathroom unless you held the shower head. Shower needs to be mounted on a different wall to help stop the problem. Only a small problem but worth mentioning. Breakfast was good. Tea and coffee in the room would be lovely or at very least free coffee from reception/bar area. Wouldn't cost hotel a lot and would certainly please us Brits! Quiet area close to all the main attractions, especially when you get your bearings! Would recommend this hotel, just needs a few small tweaks to make it really good. Thanks.
Classy hotel reasonably priced
Classy, clean, major attention to detail, quality furniture, and well located in the main old town Vilnius area. We were particularly impressed by the front desk staff, maid, and the lady who works in the breakfast dining area. A truly well kept small European hotel. Highly recommend.
An excellent hotel in a great location. Staff and room were A grade!
Excellent hotel. I would recommend to others and stay there again.
Individually decorated rooms, top quality bath products, excellent breakfast, ideal position, lovely staff.
great location, breakfast is outstanding. Rooms not new but nicely furnished and very clean and well maintained.
Nice traditional hotel in quiet area
Service is excellent! Breakfast is fantastic and our room is very spacious and comfortable. You can open the windows to get fresh air. The hotel is located in a quiet alley, yet close to all the sightseeing. It’s also just less than 10 minuets walk to the train station.
Wonderful staff, pretty and comfortable rooms, nice amenities, lovely setting and comfortable. Construction to expand the hotel is going on but starts after 8 am and does not affect the cleanliness or looks of the part of the hotel that is used. We were very comfortable and enjoyed staying in a quieter part of the old city.
Ok Hotel. Good location.
The staff is not friendly. I would not recommend this hotel to friend and family.
Old hotel on the edge of old part of town, but within walking distance to restaurants and sites. The room was clean, spacious, mattresses a bit old. Reception staff were excellent. Lovely breakfast room and outdoor sitting available. Breakfast offerings were very good. The wait staff were friendly and obliging. Perhaps the kitchen and waitstaff need to develop their awareness of traveller expectations. (For example, the omelette was served with the mushrooms and other veggies as garnishes on the side rather than cooked in the omelette. I received a pot of green tea but had to ask for a cup. These are minor issues, of course, but training should cover these matters.) Some construction going on next door which was rather noisy when it started in the early morning. But it was good for one night.
Nice place to stay.
Nice hotel. Enjoyed our stay. Lovely breakfast.
Characterful old building convenient for station,
It's upmarket but welcomed us slightly scruffy 60 year olds in good part. Big bedroom with 19th century features but very comfortable and well appointed. Huge breakfast with plenty of choices.
Good location
Great location. The hotel was clean. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English.
Comfortable little hotel
I was in Vilnius last week and the weather was awful. Rain the whole time while I was there for 5 days! However Grothuss was a good place to stay. Room is a little small in size and some car noise from the cobbled street! Fortunately the road is not a busy street. Staffs all friendly and helpful that included breakfast staffs. Breakfast is very good; smoke salmon, fresh orange juice and croissants etc. Also able to order cook breakfast too. Bathroom is very clean and shower works well. But the temperature in bathroom was too hot and nothing I can do about it! Meanwhile I’d like to make some suggestions for the hotel. It would be good to provide kettle for coffee & tea.
Breakfast worth the visit to Vilnius
Top tier across the board. As good a breakfast as you could want. Charming boutique hotel with an absolutely wonderful staff. Walkable to train and bus stations and tourist sites.
Nice hotel
Good hotel................................................................................................................................................................................................
Great location, Excellent service. Good food and wine. Unexpected pleasure.
Grotthuss Boutique Hotel
6 night stay. Given a suite with balcony as they do not have smoking rooms (despite earlier advice to the contrary) Very Lithuanian décor and food. In an old part of town but close to centre. Only complaint - it costs 3 euros every time you want to make a cup of coffee in your room. Vilnius loves cobbled streets but they are a nightmare to walk on - impossible in high heels, ladies.
Right in the heart of old town
Great location and good breakfast. No elevator, so was difficult getting to third floor with all the bags, but hotel porter helped which was great. A fantastic warm throw in the room that kept me warm after a relaxing bath
Nice hotel. Have to pay for everything even coffee in the room. Large comfortable rooms.
Hotel that works according to the season
A comfortable hotel, well located in the old town, but with very limited services. The restaurant does not work on Sundays or Mondays. Nor the bar. Breakfast buffet is very limited, with lots of extra charges if you want for example an expresso or capuccino. There is no coffee or water in the rooms except with charge. The hotel is located in an old building, well maintained, bu, be aware, it has no elevator service. The hotel also does not provide any help with your luggage. The attitude of the staff, in general, was distant and unfriendly. The TV did not work the first day, but the problem was solved the next day. As I have stayed on previous occasions in this same hotel I could compare. Definitely the quality of this hotel has gone down over time. Probably during the high season the hotel works differently.
very comfortable beds great service
spectacular
Beautiful hotel in excellent location
The hotel was very quiet when we stayed there in low season. We had two amazing rooms which were huge and very comfortable. The location of the hotel at the edge of the old town was excellent and we found lovely restaurants close by. We enjoyed our stay in Vilnius and would highly recommend the city and this hotel.
Great Value... probably not 5 star
Possibly the biggest room for the price. Bed was really comfortable and massive. The room was warm and clean. Bathroom was a little worn and old fashioned with a shower over bath. The hotel is small so doesn't feel busy. I didn't use the bar as it wasn't open during my stay, neither was the restaurant. It's a good location for exploring the Old Town. I wouldn't book taxi's through them as they seemed very expensive (airport transfer is quoted at 20 euros... I used Uber and it was 4 euros). There's a slight feel that the place is running on low season staffing. It's not really at 5 star level to be honest but still represents great value for money.
Toilet not clean.
We enjoyed out stay in Vilnius. However the hotel did not change sheets whilst we were there. The toilet bowl at the back was cake with bacteria. Breakfast had flies on it and tablecloth was dirty. Staff were nice and helpful
Beautifully Maintainex Historic Hotel
The hotel was beautiful and in a convenient location, the property was very clean the room was spacious and again everything felt very clean very well maintained the only negative was there's not air conditioning in my room they did bring in a couple floor fans which were fine
Good location at the edge of the old town.
Lovely breakfast room with a good selection of cold foods and a choice of several hot dishes cooked freshly each day.
Great hotel
very nice stay here. As it was a winter month the breakfast was in a small very pretty extension to the main building but not much choice probably as not many guests staying at the time. otherwise can't fault it, great location, quiet and comfortable, and very friendly.
Lovely boutique hotel
In the Old Town. Located on a quiet street but only 5/10 minutes walk to Town Hall Square.
Friendly small boutique hotel, needs updating
I enjoyed my week's stay here but only after I requested and got a room upgrade. Beware that there are economy rooms that aren't so hot and then some more deluxe rooms that are quite delightful (better linen quality, bigger pillows, etc). The breakfast is terrific, and the staff is extremely helpful. I like the location, because it is on a quiet little street near the train and bus station but within easy walking distance to everything in town. The hotel was renovated in 1999 and is starting to show its age - the carpet on the stairs is worn, and some of the walls could use a fresh coat of paint. That being said, everything is very clean.
Cozy, clean, convenient; great staff and breakfast
I loved my stay here and would return. What keeps it from a top rating is that some of the furnishings are looking a bit tired. Be warned; there are two classes of rooms in this hotel. The economy rooms are just that, and if you upgrade to the more expensive rooms, you will get better sheets and duvets, more room, more pillows, just a better experience. The staff is tri-lingual and very helpful. The location is within easy walking distance of both the railroad station and the bus station; there is an infrequent train that runs to the airport (seven minutes) at a cost of .70 euro. So on the way back, save a little money for that last wonderful beer before you depart Vilnius.
Good choice
Lovely hotel. Good choice and location to see Vilnius. Large room and bathroom. Very very clean.
Group visit
This was a group vacation . 12 persons in total . Everyone enjoyed themselves so all. I can say is well done to the hotel from r meeting every bodies needs .
Great Grotthuss!
Great small hotel with 5* service. Very central in the Old Town. Plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars and small interesting shops nearby!
great hotel, the staff are really good and a nice quiet location.
Nice Hotel in Vilnius' Old Town
The hotel was very conveniently located in Vilnius' Old Town, which made it walking distance to all of the main attractions. I found my room to be very comfortable and the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Vilnius.
Well worth a visit
Very charming and cosy boutique hotel situated on a quiet side street not far from Old town. The rooms and bathrooms were good and the service was excellent. The breakfast was one of the best I' ve had in a long time. Will be back!
Very charming hotel in old town
Wonderful stay. Extremely friendly and courteous staff. Good breakfast buffet. Delightful place.
Unbeatable
Grotthuss Boutique Hotel is a cozy place with excellent service (if sometimes a bit starchy) in the perfect location with an excellent breakfast spread and -- something all too rare in Vilnius -- parking. Hard to beat.
Fantastic and central Vilnius hotel
Nice and central hotel with very good service, especially the breakfast is amazing with tailor made orders offered by smiling staff !
Very good place to stay!
Very good place to stay! The Grotthuss Boutique Hotel is a great value. I didn't expect the place would be this good. Starting with the service from the front desk! Very friendly and ready to help with any questions you might have about the area. The room and bathroom very clean and comfortable, the breakfast excellent! The location, at the edge of the Old Town, very close to many attractions!
Charming hotel on edge of old town
Our business room was on the 3rd floor, spacious, lovely furnishings, comfortable bed and good bathroom. No lift, no problem for us but maybe for others. The breakfast and breakfast room were great. Under hotel amenities "laundry facilities" was listed as well as "drycleaning/laundry service" but no laundry facilities available to guests, only for hotel's own use which was diasappointing.
Nice hotel
Top notch service from the front desk and very comfortable rooms. Windows have huge window sills that you can sit on.
Friendly old town gem
Perfect location in a quiet cobbled side road a couple of hundred metres from the Town Hall or bus/train station. Friendly helpful staff and nice breakfasts with a slight Lithuanian flavour. Thoroughly recommended.
Wonderful stay
Visited over Easter for holidays, one of the best hotel stays we've had in a lovely quiet neighborhood - perfect condition, great attention to detail, exceptionally friendly and professional staff, we felt very welcomed. Sights/train&bus station within short walking distance. Perfect example of the boutique hotel experience!
Gem in old town
A wonderful gem in a great location in old town. Service was superb with attention to detail. Amenities are good, wifi with a good speed and no drop outs. Great atmosphere and interior. We had a "business" size room and it was very nice with a balcony and a sitting area. Loved it.
Nice little boutique hotel at the edge of the Old Town. Pleasant rooms, a bit inexperienced staff.
From Australia
The hotl location was difficult to find due to the many one way streets. Not the hotel's fault, but a fact of life for Vilnius. The hotel itself was excellent and had no problems or complaints.
Close to city center
Nice hotel with friendly staff. Big room with balcony. Good breakfast:)
Best hotel in Vilnius
This hotel is a pleasure to stay at. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional. The breakfast is simply amazing and the location is perfect. I will be returning to Vilnius just to stay at this hotel and enjoy the beautiful quaint town of Vilnius.
Very Satisfied
Reception staff were very friendly. Breakfast was tasty. The bed was very comfortable. Location is convenient and puts everything within walking distance. For the price, vs more famous international chains, it's definitely the one to go for.
Great Service but no evening meal
The Hotel itself was great as was staff service but the big disappointment was that the Hotel had stopped offering evening meals for guests although they were offering meals to local conferences etc. The write up about the great food served in the Hotel was one of the reasons for our choice of that Hotel and the no evening meal policy was a big let down.
Cosy and clean Boutique Hotel
Friends of mine had stayed before in the hotel and recommended it. I was still positively surprised. It was similar to much more expensive Boutique hotels in W-Europe. Breakfast was great and I was lucky enough to be able to have it on the summer terrace due to the nice spring weather. Very good start of the day!
Great Hotel with great Staff!
This Hotel is a great option when visiting Vilnius, at first i had booked in a different hotel near an old town main street, later i checked the Gruthuss hotel, only two blocks away and with 50% less fare, so i went for it. Really it is a nice hotel, cozy, warm, my room was absolutely well maintained. the best thing of the this hotel was the kindness of the staff there, the receptionist immediately upon my arrival provide me with a vase for some flowers i was carrying for my girlfriend. next day i figure it out that i did not have an adaptor for my cell phone charger, the hotel staff provide me an electrical adaptor a no charge. Breakfast buffet was a little strange to me, i am not used to eat salmon and fish as a breakfast, but, in Rome, do as Romans do..breakfast was good, coffee was strong but excellent, orange juice, olives, nuts, fresh baked bread, etc. I really liked hotel staff service attitude, i thik that would be the nicest thing of this hotel. Absolutely will stay there again next time i would travel there...
Grotthuss Boutique Hotel | Hotel in Vilnius | Travala.com
Throughly enjoyed our 10 day stay. All the staff were Friendly, helpful and professional The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the WiFi was stable and reliable. The bathroom had a heated floor and a fantastic shower. Overall the property was elegant, clean and in a great location to explore Vilnius old town as well as being only a short walk to bus and train services.
