You get what you pay for .
Stayed for two nights 1st to 3rd march . Nice hotel friendly staff . Room was okay . A couple things not good long black hair all over the sheets when throw taken off. Sheets too small for bed .Towels to dry yourself after shower very small. English breakfast not eggs beans and1 sausages. Apart from that nice place
DJ was very helpful checking us in.
Average. But standard for the area
Comfortable stay at the Gresham, no parking available, but parking on street nearby. Room was adequate, could do with a little more attention to cleaning tbh. Found a pack of tablets under the bed and the base of the bed was dirty and should be changed. But you gets what you pay for. All the hotels on that row are exactly the same, catering to tourists on a budget. Not the best I've ever stayed in, and not the worst.
Great little place to. stay
Great hotel staff exceptional Close to Paddington Train and underground .Can walk everywhere restaurants and shopping very close . Breakfast nice only there is no heat when eating breakfast a bit chilly at 35 degrees outside .. DJ and the reception staff are superb . No heat during the day chilly if you stay in your room . Definitely would stay there again .
Friendly staff, and clean rooms
Pretty average hotel, very basic but clean, does the job for an overnight stay in London, good location but I felt was overpriced
Clean hotel good value for money
All looking a bit tired and needs upgrading e.g. the toilet flush, safe not working, rewiring
It was ok. The staff were excellent.
Rooms are very very small. Not enough room on floor to open suitcase. Otherwise nice
Close to Paddington station, staff is so helpful they take care of their guest, breakfast is very good. Would highly recommend
easy to get to quiet safe peaceful lovely area lovely staff extra cooked options for vegetarians at breakfast could be helpful :)
Public transit convenience
A lovely complimentary breakfast is served daily at this great little hotel very near to Paddington Station. The staff is helpful, pleasant, and friendly. The entire facility is spotless. Just expect an older hotel without phones in the rooms, and with small showers. Lots of hot water, though, and a huge choice of dining and transport options right around the corner. Excellent value for the money, and an excellent location, offset any negatives due to the hotel’s age.
Gresham Hotel exceeded my expectations! An excellent 3 Star hotel which met my needs. A clean and comfortable room for the night and breakfast was plentiful. The breakfast staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The location is convenient to say the least. What more could I add?!
Been here 4 times. Won't change.
A very good hotel short walk from Lancaster Gate bus stop (148) bus and underground. Or from edgeware road. Near Paddington Station. Friendly staff and good cooked breakfast. Lost gold ring but housekeeper found it and phoned me. Very good.
Proximity to transport local shops
Excellent only small downside was trouble with internet Rooms and bathroom are. small but totally acceptable for way we travel Delightful breakfast staff
Staff are all very helpful and friendly, rooms serve there purpose, great breakfast facility and all rooms with easy access with a lift, second visit to this hotel and will definitely be returning,
Really Great People at the Reception. Room was Clean and Service was Perfect. Breakfast there was Great!
Situated in a nice leafy and quiet street but so close to Paddington station, 5 minutes walk to Kensington garden, all bars and food places around . Good breakfast and friendly staff . Super value for money ! I will tell all my family and friends about this hotel.
If you are on a budget this hotel is most definitely worth a trip. I like the location on the 27 bus route. I have mobility issues which were recognised and the lovely lady on reception (Annisa) couldn't do enough to allocate me the right room. I had the room in the basement (no window) smashing little shower room & toilet and perhaps needed a bit of love spent on it but for the price I paid I was safe and it was quiet. Perfect for my requirements. For a one or 2 night stay it was an ideal place to stay for a solo traveller. I will happily stay there again. I have no need to be spoilt or pampered but I do want to feel safe and comfortable. During my visit this was achieved.
We were first told that check in was at 14:00 after arriving around 10:00. When we came back we were sent to a very dungeon like room in the sub-basement, amenities were very poor, the mattress springs were going through your back, very tiny window going through a small courtyard. We asked to change but they told us no as the room are allocated on first come first serve bases. They allow to change on the next day if one available. The next morning around 6:00 am we were hearing the staff talking then the avalanche of noice as poeple came for breakfast. The room was a tiny room facing the courtyard, with heavy wooden chairs and no soft furniture, the tiny sound weee bouncing all around the courtyard. We were allowed to change but not before we check out for 11:00 and not coming back before 14:00. Not having slept much it was surprise that we were pretty much put to the street for 3 hours. The room was slightly bigger but still getting noises. The receptionist did their best but the accountability is on the owner who run the place to maximise profits. Not much would be needed to attenuate the noise in the restaurant and turn the sub basement room as single to noise proof them
Tha Gresham Hotel.
Shoebox room. Very dated. Fortunately had a lift. Poky bathroom. Ok one night stay for couple. One person would feel ok. Missed breakfast included,so can't comment.
Everything was good
Brilliant
Brilliant
It was clean and convenient for central london and breakfast was ample. Would recommend you take your own hairdryer though
Good 3 star hotel.
The room was clean - bed was comfortable. Great location for Paddington. Restaurants and bars nearby. Receptionist was friendly and it included breakfast. Recommended.
PADDINGTON JULY 2024
Nice hotel in a good location very close to Paddington Station and near lots of restaurants and bars. Staff were all helpful and friendly. And the complimentary breakfast was good.
Great location
Staff all very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Room was a bit of a squeeze, butI had mistakenly booked a double rather than a twin. We were switched to the one twin they had available which was quite small, but the beds were really comfortable.
24-hr front desk is definitely a plus. Rooms organization is a bit confusing due to halls split by elevator. Overall, the room is small but in good condition. There is no AC in the room. The bedding can use an upgrade. Too easily sinked down (not ideal for 2 people sharing the bed). The area is nice. Convenient for biking if you can take advantage of e-bike (London is most bike-friendly cities I have been to). Close to 24-hour convenient store. Not very walkable to attractions (45min walk to Buckingham Palace). During the day, the big park is open so you can shortcut across Hyde park. However, after hours, the park is closed and walking around can add quite a bit of time to your trip so plan accordingly. Breakfast is so so, very little option but service ladies are super nice.
It us just what you need, good bed and a comfortable room
great location near Paddington
Dinky but had everything I needed, convenient, very clean, friendly helpful staff. I have already recommended it to friends who have now stayed there.
Very nice the staff was great
Great find. Could not fault cleanliness location
Could not fault location right next to the station shops cleanliness was amazing spotless breakfast ans service faultless. Quick to serve and clean with a smile Only downside was our room was under reception and night staff had a loud guest all.night with her child up running around And i had to go at 3am.and complain about the banging. But if i had been in a different part of the hotel would of given ot 5 stars
Our family stayed there for 6 days. Pros: cleanness, staff, breakfast is so great Cons: wifi is terrible and broke every 2 minutes. The heater in the room is not good and we have to cover 3 carpets
Reasonable value. Useful location. Some small items could be easily and cheaply corrected - management should periodically visit each room while playing the role of a critical and demanding guest, and attend to the little details whose correction would transform a "good" to an "excellent".
Never again
A tired old hotel! Creaky floors, awful bathroom, on sound insulation. The worst ‘full English breakfast’ I’ve ever had. Feel sorry for the staff really. More than £80! Never again!
Lovely hotel and great location.
Hotel facilities were fine. Only downside is that there is quite a lot of noise from outside if you're staying in the front rooms.
Good value hotel in a great location for sightseeing. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Mattresses are very old you can hear the springs when you move around shower is disaster the hot and cold water is very hard to adjust very tight space hardly to move inside the shower room I don’t recommend it but staff are so good .
Excellent service
ok for short stays
Hotel very clean . Breakfast was ok . The lift struggled as it is also used by staff cleaning and it is set so that it goes to the floor from where it has been called . Spent 10 mintues going up and down building . room adequately furnished and had good lighting and sockets . However sink very small so difficult to fill kettle. No plug for bathroom sink .Hot water very slow to come though, therefore possible to think there is not hot water . Difficult to read in bed as not head board, when you sit up and lean against the wall bed tends to more. Hotel is fine for short stays and very convenient to paddington
Very good hotel in a great location
Room was spotless and a good size. Bathroom was excellent. There was a good selection of breakfast items. I would highly recommend The Gresham.
Issue after issue!!!
I really wish we hadn't booked and paid for this hotel in advance because we HATED staying here! The issues never stopped! Here we go: 1. First night checking in, they didn't have one of our days listed as being booked and blamed it on hotels.com even though i had already paid for it. 2. The second day, the power went out in our room. They offered no solution whatsoever. No flashlights, no candles, nothing. We had to shower, change, etc without power and use our phone flashlights to navigate in the room. Additonally, it was extremly hot because we were in an attic room with no working cooling system. We had to find a new hotel for the next day because they "couldn"t fix the power soon". 3. Upon complaining about the power the next day, they offered to refund us for that day and then charged us instead! We were out over $300 on the first few days of our vacation! It took us an in person visit and blunt words to get them to refund our money. It took four days for it to refund back to our account. 4. No consisent hot water in the showers and showers wouldnt drain quickly at all! Loved standing in my own filth while showering. 5. Extremly lumpy and uneven beds! Could feel every spring! 6. Grimey carpet that i wouldnt walk on in my bare feet. 7. Horrible smoke smells in the halls. I will never ever stay here again! The only positive thing we took away from staying here was the lovely, sweet lady serving English breakfast. That is it. Horrible experience overall!
Issue after issue!!
I really wish i hadn't booked this hotel in advance and paid in full, because we hated staying here. The hotel lost one of my reservations and blamed it on Hotels.com the first night we arrived. The second day and full night we were there, the power went out completley and we were not offered any sort of solution whatsoever. We had to shower and change in the dark. No flashlights offered, no candles offered, nothing. Additionally, our room was piping hot because it was on the attic floor without power. They offered to refund our night for the power mishap and then proceeded to charge us instead! We were out around $300 at the beginning of our vacation. We canceled our third day and found another hotel because they "couldn't fix the power anytime soon." It took them four days and an in person blunt reminder for them to fully reverse the charge and refund us. The beds were horribly uncomfortable. They were just placed on box springs on the floor and we could feel every spring in the mattress. They were lumpy and uneven. The only thing that was enjoyable was the incredibly sweet woman who served English breakfast every morning. She was the ONLY positive thing that we took away from this place.
5 mins walk from Paddington railway station and 10min walk to Kensington Gardens. Friendly helpful staff, clean and small ensuite (as expected) room. Basic but satisfactory breakfast options. Perfect base to explore London for the night at a good price.
Basic for London visiting
Great to stop at for a basic base for visiting London. Short walk away from Paddington Station. Able to store bags beforehand and after checking out too. Hot breakfast is 2 eggs, bean's and a sausage. There is plenty of other bits to chose from toast, jams/spreads, cereals, cheese, boiled eggs etc.
Great and helpful team
Great location , hotel needs some investment in everything , rooms , carpets , bathrooms etc . Very expensive , you’re just paying for the location.
Good affordable B&B Great breakfast, everywhere very clean
Comfortable stay . Room nice and warm .
The rooms are clean and with enough space, the breakfast is good but with limited options. The staff is kind and very helpful.
OK for a one night. Stay
The hotel is very shabby, and is in need of redecoration, and updating. Curtains need attention due to them hanging of the rails and not able to close properly. Lack of sockets in rooms. A once nice hotel but sadly in this condition, no more.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Paddington is easy to get to with shops and restaurants close by the hotel. A working lift was available plus 3 staircases to get to our room which was clean and tidy. Due to Covid breakfast was unavailable, I've stayed here before Covid and food was good then. A happy place, at a good price, to stay for a couple of nights. Fire doors and uncarpeted stairs a little noisy but generally quiet. Nearby areas were a bit scruffy but hotel was decent.
Staff very friendly & helpful. Have stayed before so was easy choice.
Dated and pretty run down
Pretty dated and run down tired looking low budget hotel.
Night Away.
Nice hotel where we have stayed before and would stay again. Clean and comfortable.
Checking in was fast and friendly. Elevator was slow had to press floor # several times for it to go . I knew room was going to be small , but this was uncomfortably small ( I had an extra large luggage and carry on ) . Small shower and sink , did have a shelf to put stuff. Room had drawer space and closet. Window open to let in fresh air . There was also a small fan if needed. I guess with saying all that it was ok for one night . Close to Paddington Station and Kensington Park. Would I stay there again , maybe , if the price stays cheap. I paid $ 67.00
Affordable,
Great stay, clean room
Great- affordable place
Great stay, friendly staff, clean room. Close to paddington station. If your arriving from Heathrow airport- you can take the press to paddington. 5min walk. Restaurant and pub close walking distant
Nice
good
Good location at a good price
If you just need a bed for the night, we wanted cheap and cheerful, great location and service. Rooms were clean. Would stay again.
Over all room was dusty shower wasn’t working only two drops of water was coming through the shower head. water was too hot nearly burnt myself no socket plugs next to the bed had to search for the socket behind draws which was a mission finally unplug the tv and charged my phone. no bath towels furniture backdated other than That it was fine the receptionist was a lovely lady 👍
The location is awesome. The bath is a bit tight
Room for Overnight London Stay
It was a clean place to stay after a late evening in London. Room was basic but comfortable but the hotel was quite noisy throughput the night. No facility to purchase a breakfast
Staff were very friendly.Hotel itself was ok although the rooms could do with refurbishing.Other than that stay was pleasant with no major complaints.
Cheap but not cheerful
Hotel was very hot, room was very basic
hotels.com said breakfast was included which the hotel advised me was not the case as they don’t offer breakfast. No response from hotels.com as I booked to include breakfast for my stay.
Wonderful staff
The friendliest staff. It’s a nice, basic and clean room. But the stars are really the staff. The front desk are the kindest people!
Very tired and dated looking as soon as you walk past reception, wobbly floorboards, hole in carpets, dirty/scuffed walls around the bed. Very clean though. Long wait for the partial full English breakfast. Very good location for easy access to Paddington, lots of places to eat within minutes walk
Hotel is at a great location. Quick walk to Paddington Station to be able to get anywhere in London quickly. Variety of dining options nearby. Room size was as expected having stayed at several hotels in Europe. Unless modernly build or renovated post 2000, room size runs small (from an American point of view). Room was showing age and could be updated but that was mostly about aesthetics since we were there to just sleep. Reasoning for saying it is aging: Limited power outlet options. We found 1 available under the desk and luckily I had an extension cord. Small TV. No AC but that should not be unexpected unless you're staying in a modern hotel. Heat control was difficult with the radiator but manageable. Lift was small and slow but serviceable. Biggest complaint was the bed as it is in need of replacing; no support, could feel every spring. Wifi was horrible and needs to be replaced with a real system not a bunch of off the shelf consumer access points. We had a hotspot we were using which allowed us problem free internet access. Staff was friendly. If they updated the beds it would be a much better experience.
Close to station and restuarants, very good breakfast and helpful staff
Staff were very obliging and polite Open 24hours which is so convenient and one can leave suitcases there.
Just average. Room was tiny. Clean but nothing special. Breakfast ok.
Great budget hotel in the perfect location near Paddington Station. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance too. The room was surprisingly spacious for a quad and the bathroom was a good size. Staff were friendly and the included breakfast was fine. We were in a basement room which was OK but it was very hot (though there was a fan) and there was a bit of noise from the room above but nothing that disturbed our sleep. Beds were comfy and clean.
Excellent stay
A welcome place, too close to Paddington station. Very easy to use public transport. Excellent localization. The room was very clean. Breakfast was delicious. Employees very receptive and helpful. The room and bathroom was a little small.
It was a cute hotel with old English charm. It was in a great location for the paddington train and paddington tube which made it easy to get access from Heathrow and to most London attractions
Great budget hotel with breakfast. Great location near Paddington.
The neighborhood was lovely, lots of restaurants to eat, and the rooms were quite big.
Great staff
Hotel is in a great location, staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is noisy, no sound proofing, room very small (for a double room), no AC only a small fan, and can hear other guests from their room and hallway. Internet was intermittent, kept dropping. Had to down to the lobby to get a better connection. Breakfast was ok
I found the staff to be exceptionally courteous and helpful, and my room was at an excellent standard of cleanliness. The breakfast service was excellent too, The difficulty is noise from outside, especially at night. The room was at the front of the building so perhaps it would be better at the back!
Good room and breakfast
We arrived late at night and appreciated the quick friendly check in. The room is small but comfortable just a bit of noise from other guests in the corridor. The breakfast is very good.
Return visit
Sadly, the lift was out of order, otherwise another pleasant and comfortable stay with an excellent cooked breakfast!
Stay elsewhere.
Poor breakfast and poor maintenance Stay elsewhere. Bad value for money
Great hotel
Good, central location. Nice area. Friendly staff.
Good located, safe and close to everything.
My single bed room was located second floor facing the main road with a big window with view. The room was fairly big with a decent renovated bathroom. Over my expectation I thought it will be a small room. Seven nights Rm 219 solo woman traveller. Breakfast was a decent meal to start the day.
Hotel need an upgrade
I’ve stayed there 2 years ago. Then I felt the hotel already dated. There have not been any upgrade since. Fan provided in the room not working. WiFi couldn’t connect to internet most of the time. I’ll give another hotel a try on my next trip to London.
I was so close to have claustrophobic behaviour because of pointless small room. No fresh air , no window (just a small ventilation hole on ceiling !). I am 1.75 cm and snug fitted to showroom. I can't imagine a bigger guy in there. Sheet was dirty with colourful spots. Never again.
Staff were super friendly, wifi was alright at best
Perfect location, near to train, bus and underground station.
Good location
Good for quick stop in London Typical London discount hotel. Small room good location
Nice size room for London. Small bar fridge. Shower very small
not good
the shower was cold bed if it was a bed bad hard and bits sticking out of it
Convenient to Paddington. But overall was not value for money for me.
It was clean. Decor and beds were subpar. Wifi was iffy. Front desk staff was OK. Location was perfect for trains to and from Heathrow Airport and the Underground.
great location
in need of refurb. room very small, no plug in sink and bathroom door doesnt lock good central location concerned about lack of security in luggage room

Several issues, staff apathetic
The bed was comfy enough, and the bathroom facilities were adequate, though the shower screen was broken. Sadly the “free wifi” advertised did not work, which it’s contractually obligated to do if it’s advertised, I brought this up with staff at the desk, they either fobbed me off or tried to make out that it was my fault. Breakfast was also hugely disappointing, literally zero vegan options besides a piece of toast and some jam, not even any dairy free milk for my tea. I brought these complaints up with staff, all I got was excuses and zero accountability or attempt to make up for this. Won’t be staying here again, because they clearly don’t give a damn about quality.
