Ok
This hotel was okay, i wish it had laundry service. And I wish we had thorough instructions to work the room lights and parking was kinda shocking as I knew they were renovating but overall it’s average for my partner and I. Good for a backpacker or couple on small vacation. When the pool and carpark is finished just maybe get full stars. Good experience. Breakfast was beautiful too
The place is nice. Staffs were really nice except for Favio who’s on duty that night. He’s not quite accomodating with our enquiries ( rolls his eyes / seems frustrated when answering our queries. The lady on duty in the restaurant needs to smile. Other than that , we had a great time spending our holiday in Brisbane.
The staff member who checked us in was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. The beds weren't comfortable. The location was great for our visit. The hotel needs major upgrades to painting etc. Seemed quite run-down. If you are looking for a cheap night in the city, and dont mind an uncomfortable bed, then I would suggest a booking.
Beautiful location!
All good
Breakfast was good. Required to pay for parking that not fair because we are the guest that has paid for the accommodation.
It was close to where I was going for the night the Star Casino
Very good service
What I loved was the big spacious room, not cramped. Better still was the shower and water pressure, fantastic.
Good size rooms.
Comfortable accommodation at an affordable price
I am happy we stayed at this hotel, the staff were lovely and helpful. The only thing i found lacking was information supplied in the room - there was none! No phone directory so you could ring through to reception; no listing of services available at the hotel like laundry etc. The only piece of information in the whole room was the availability of breakfast.
Breakfast bar does not equal a restaurant ,which was in the motel description.Renovations in progress, internal skin in 1 lift was missing.
The commentary on the train was interesting
very afordable clean tidy 9 dollar cont brekkie
It was excellent value for a short trip to Brisbane. Breakfast was excellent. Compliments to the young lady who ran the breakfast room on her own.
Across the road from casino, surely the cleaner would of sorted the broken TV remote on the table , 2 single beds not very comy at all,
There was nothing to like about the Not so great southern hotel. Left after the first night.
Good value property in a city center
Realy average maintenance
Very clean and staff friendly 👌 Close to shopping 🛍 and south-bank
Easy to check in, but a lot of renovation work happening in and around the property.
Front area of hotel is great but renovations are still going on and where the accomodation is it appeared to be claustrophobic. Hallway smaller & lift . I’ll wait till renovations are completed and try again
Lift was making a terrible noise all night that vibrated through the entire hotel.
Plenty of room in rooms and close to queens wharf
Excellent
Great location, rooms a bit dated but clean and tidy. Elevator was a little scary but it seems under construction so hopefully that will be fixed soon.
Close to everything
Clean and comfortable
Clean, comfortable and in a good location when I overnight for work. Staff are always fabulous
hotel stay
good
The Property is old and always under renovations
Nice enough, A lot of construction going on in the building. Would not stay here again, there was no parking available for the 1 night we stayed, so ended up paying $120 For just one night at one of the parking buildings they recommended. Would of preferred to spend that extra money on a nicer hotel that guarantees available parking!
Avoid major building work in progress.
Dreadfull to allow business to continue with major building work in progress. The left lift is a fire hazard with padding incasing it to stop the tradies from damaging it. They were working on our floor and drilling through the wall from us.Impact drills vibrating the walls from 7am we even had no water at one point, we complained to the staff but were told that a notice about the work was on the website... really shabby from when you enter the place.we had to ask for our tokens every morning for breakfast for some reason even though we had paid before coming. The only good point was the breakfast and the girl was nice and friendly.
Recommended
Across the street from the new Brisbane Casino. Good value for money option for a night out in the CBD.
Nice rooms..
Short walk to queen st mall botanical gardens and restaurants galore. 1 mins walk to new casino and 5 mins over new bridge to south bank . And property very clean
Good value, great location, very central and close to everything we need. Opposite the New star casino. Limited spots for parking at the hotel. Staffs are nice and friendly.
Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast
The hotel was stylish fresh and clean and would have rated excellent throughout except for:- !. very noisy and intrusive refurbishment taking place. 2. an extremely tight and tortuous entry to a very small underground carpark packed with containers of refurb rubbish which had to be rearranged on three occasions just to get in/out. We had already paid $30.00 a night upfront otherwise we would have parked elsewhere.
Location very clean.
There is visible mould in the shower The lobby stinks of fried food after the breakfast service The walls are so thin you hear every conversation through them. The "queen bed" is actually two single beds squished together and the centre of the bed is very uncomfortable as a result. There is also very loud construction noise - drilling and hammering- within the hotel rendering it impossible to sleep in on any day other than a Sunday.
Thanks for a great stay!
Bathroom light did not work in the morning.Did not have to call for help with that as I had to leave early.
Central location. Great service.
The room had the lift beside it and was so noisy all night also work was happening on the rooms . No discount on room even after I made a complaint also weird bedding . Breakfast was served by a staff member which was cold and it wasn’t self serve.
The property itself wasn’t that bad but they are undergoing renovations right now and it’s on the whole day from 7am which is ridiculously loud but if you don’t care about that it is in a very central area and the staff is lovely!
Amazing staff who went out of their way to help. No car park available on arrival but they ensured one was held for us once available. My son left his watch in the room after we checked out and they went out of their way to send it back to us. Thank you! The only thing id say is if you want a quiet location, this place is heavily impacted by the noise at the new queens wharf in the weekends
The price was good but there was no advice that the hotel was being renovated. It was therefore noisy early in the morning. We should be advised of this prior to booking.
Room did not get made
Dirty
All good
Bedding was hard and uncomfortable
Location friendly and helpful staff clean and tidy Very nice!
Room setting excellent
Poor heater, poor customer service. Not helpful
The staff were lovely, but due to the renovations made it hard to relax and the use the only two elevators, was challenging.
Excellent location, very clean and nice
Disappointed
Rooms were very comfortable and nice enough for a budget motel. I was very disappointed with the stay as they had renovations occurring where they were jack hammering on the floor straight outside and next to my room. I let it go for the night as they stopped about 330pm but then was woken the next morning as the tradies were on the floor setting up around 630 am. I asked for another room that day on a different floor.
Good for a quick one night stay in the city. But needs an upgrade asap
.
Good budget hotel, safe, great staff, great central position in city, walking distance from all amenities, shopping etc.our preferred hotel when in Brisbane
Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was nice, the only issue with the room was the bed being two single beds joined together.
Car park occupied by construction workers. Was lucky to get parking for my over 1800 height vehicle. Otherwise we love this place.
Hall-way lights came in around the door and lit up the room at night, the door lock was backwards so wouldnt stop people getting into the room. Worst sleep of my life as half the mattress springs had collapsed, and mattress was manky underneath with no protectors, just straight sheet on the mankiest mattress you have ever seen
The hotel was situated in a convenient walking distance from the river, botanic gardens and the city. While the room was large, old style with hard matress.
I stayed for 5 days at this hotel and they didn’t clean my room once after I asked three separate times.
No hot water (shower and sink).... otherwise very good
Friendly and helpful staff, the place is a little tired, but the room was clean and had all the basics we needed. Great value for money.
Always a great stay . In heart of city. Clean. Maintenance on building at present. For a better stay in future. Great value for money
Suitable for our short stay.
Clean, comfortable and reasonably priced
A reasonable centrally located property, very clean and comfortable. Staff are extremely friendly and professional. Unfortunately bar fridge and room phone didn't work, however for 1nt this wasn't a huge issue
It's an older hotel currently undergoing renovation but fortunately no reno works were taking place on the weekend while I was there. Hotel had all that I needed for a short stay.
Room 510 The bed needs replacing. It is collapsing on one side. Door is wrong size with gap all around. Bathroom exhaust fan not working. AC control makes no sense.
Good for the price
Needs a reno bad
Was only in town for conference, found tge Great Southern convenient and centrally located.
Convenient and friendly staff
Staff were polite. Room and lifts were serviceable and clean. Breakfast was simple and OK. The building is tired. Aircon doesn’t seem to respond to the thermostat control. Room was spacious. Bathroom was clean. Minimal soap etc for the stay. Paint, particularly on doors) needs a major refresh.
Very friendly staff. Close to all the amenities J was looking for at very affordable price.
Large room, great staff
The staff was fantastic and let me check in early which was much appreciated as I had just traveled 42 hours from the US and was desparate for a nap. Breakfast tasty and reasonably priced. Room was HUGE and had every amenity you could need. My room was dated but this hotel is currently getting updated. I would happily stay again as is, but once it's updated I'm sure it'll be even more fantastic.
Excellent Location
The property is not rxpensive
parking space is limited,
So close to everything in the city
Claims to be a 4 star hotel. Very tired facility, should be advertised as zero star whilst undergoing refurb.
Proximity
Friendly staff, good value brekky
Parking is atrocious but convenient. Not for big cars. The hotel was conveniently located.
The service was good and the room was clean and the location is great I would recommend water in the room All good
Parking hard to get into, lift was boarded up inside, must have been broken. Carpet was stained and dirty. Bed was hard as a rock. Broken iron leaked water on our clothes. Front entry doors were broken and would only open half way. Very disappointed with stay.
Nice and close to the city and mall. Nice eateries and restaurants within walking distance also great. Accomodation, clean and tidy and staff were helpful and friendly
The hotel is close to the CBD
Reception where very friendly everytime I spoke to them
Didn't like no Restaurant meals lunchtime & evening also only one choice of breakfast ie-- no good for my vegetarian wife Also traffic outside is horrendous at the present time, no fault of the Hotel of course. We got a taxi for s 7 minute ride to South Brisbane Rail way station & it took 40 minutes again no fault of the Taxi driver.
We stayed 2nights was clean beds were ok, sheets were crispy clean, only downer was no microwave and to much light at night coming through door edging.
Parking was good for area Unfortunately bed was not comfortable
The room was old and not very good but area is great
I found the property in a great location the staff very helpful the property itself needs an update but we all enjoyed our time there
