Stsy at grand mercurd Shanghai

The Hotel lobby and breakfast was excellent, so as the service. The exterior of the Hotel and lobby was fatastic. Interior and furnitures are old. The key issue we had us that for a 2-bedroom Hotel Apartment, typically there is a bare minimum cutlery in the kitchen shelves. There was none in this apartment. While they said if you need anything ask us, it doesn't feel right to us to ask for few cups and plates or forks/knifes. Appreciate their cleaning service and beautiful breakfast area.

Great service, within 10 minutes walking for two different metro lines, near to Hongqiao airport/ railway.

the property is run down and the area and surroundings are not very desirable! would I come back there, absolutely not just because of location!

Hotel is rather old and outdated but service and convenience outdo .

Rooms are aged and over the years which we have used this hotel on Xian Xia Road, hotel has only done the minimal to upgrade the tired conditions in the room. Not befitting a Grand Mercury designation. This stay was particularly upsetting as hair dryer did not work, shower head was replaced at our request, and toilet wasn’t flushing properly which we expected housekeeping to know and report to management instead of leaving us to complain which they fixed. We have no reason to keep using this Hitel except for the relatively good location close to banks and a walkable distance to two big shopping complexes. Accor Group shows little commitment to the Shanghai market.

Great stay for 3 weeks holiday & remote working!

It was a very nice stay at the Grand Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao. The whole facility looked new and decorated with good taste. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was big and clean, good air condition, very fast WIFI. Convenient and quiet location. During our stay, the hotel staff Lavender Huang was especially helpful with our checking and managed our room upgrade with patience, kindness, and professionalism. She was also stationed in the executive lounge most of the time during our stay, and made sure all the needs from our remote working days were met with great service. We like her a lot and are very thankful to her. :) Also thanks to all the hotel managers, who handled our requests with flexibility, and always think the best for the hotel guests. If you want a reasonably priced, English-speaking-guest-friendly hotel, with good service, comfortable facility, nice staff, this would be your choice.

It was amazing our room got the Japanese bear toys all over! They have some festival and randomly decorate the room. Feel so lucky! This is my usual hotel when comes back to Shanghai. Clean and spacious.

Business trip stay

Nice hotel in a great location

I liked the speciality toilet. Automatic flush. Low gpf. Warm seat. I also liked the minimalist toiletries. I didn’t like the WiFi going in an out. Buffet Breakfast options didn’t change for the entire time we were there.

Good sized rooms, Quiet, Well appointed. The only draw back was the siding bathroom door.

It was a comfortable stay. Area was convenient for local eateries and the subway was less then a 10 min walk away. Service was friendly and efficient and I will stay here again for the comfortable bed and simple and thoughtful amenities in the room. The washing machine was really useful.

1. Took long time to check out. 2staff serve 3guests, should be ok but it seems 1staff very unfamiliar with her job scope n the Japanese guest didn't understand what she was talking about. 2. Housekeeping staff very friendly n helpful.

Enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated, and the japanese toilet seat did not fully work. In addition, our room came with a "balcony" that was not accessible, but the door to the balcony still rattled in the wind throughout the whole evening. Other than that, the hotel was great.

Overall good - nothing to complain about.

Overall it was okay nothing special. Its around 30 minutes drive from the center/touristic spots so if you are going for holidays I would not recommend this location. On the flip side if you are going for business in nearby location then it would work out perfectly. The hotel is almost an hour drive from PVG airport.

I could not wait to come back to this fine establishment.

Room key did not work property. Key was worked for guest elevator, but not for room. I had to go back to front desk for reissuing the key at least three times.

Nice big modern room, but not walkable to anything

Hotel is very nice, rooms very spacious, has a washer, but you will need to hang dry your clothes. There is a stove top, but no cookware, dishes, or utensils. Small mini fridge available for use. Buffet was not good at all, except for the coffee and danishes. You will need a taxi to get around, it is not walking distance to any tourist attractions. But the taxi is very cheap. Tip the taxi drivers, they are not very accustomed to receiving tips, some will graciously accept, others will give it back to you, we always force the money back into their hands. Shanghai night river cruise and the tower were amazing! A must do!

The worst internet connections in any hotel

The internet is a laugh. The connection was inconsistent or non existent for the entire stay. The staff was not concerned

Non smoking rooms stink of smoke ! If you order taxi to go to airport, be prepared for a rip-off..my taxi charged me more than 20% for the same distance when I came from the same terminal .. 205 RMB while coming from airport, 245 while going to airport.

Needs refurbishment

Good location but beds are old and uneven. Difficult to sleep. Poor WiFi.

Room Good - Poor Shower

Room was clean and comfortable. Shower head, both over head and hand held sprayed very poorly. Overhead was wide and weak, thin spray even going outside tub. Hand held sprayer was a vertical spray and could not be properly aimed.

The room has a washing machine, which can save you a ton of money during a trip. Hotel staff is nice and fast, overall, pretty good value. About 15-20 minute walk from Chabad. Not as nice as other hotels in the area, but nice enough.

Booked hotel in Shanghai there on business. On arrival they played a scam wanting me to pay for discount card $75 on arrival at the front desk they said my room was not clean and I could pay for an upgrade to get a nicer room caution caution caution beware of the scams by local Chinese hotels !!!

Quick stay in Hongqiao

Location is convenient. Lobby scent is too strong with "old woman perfume style" so please change according to Accor standard. Breakfast choices are not many. Room is spacious but internet connection is really bad!

Free upgrade and good service

Bath room had some problems. I guess the maintenance work for the room was not enough.

Not so good, I was dispointed about the rooms. A lof of bad smell. Even i changed room. It was the same smell in all rooms due to the ventillaton system i think. The room was too old. This Hotel need renovation. This Hotel dont deserve 4 stars (not even 3 for me)

Excellent Front Office

My fourth time stayed at this hotel. I booked a room stay from 25/6 to 28/6/2016. On second day , when I returned from my shopping and discovered my room fridge faulty, water leaking on the floor. After feedback to the front office, Mr Leon Liu, The Front Office Manager attended my matter. Mr Liu immediately upgraded my room to a higher floor and bigger room (2310). Very much appreciated. The Hotel is old and run down , is time to renovation .

Ok for the price.

I booked for days, but only stayed for three because I wasn't too thrilled. The hotel advertised their balcony, but I was disappointed to realize there was no access. The doors are locked. There are no chair outside inviting me to sit. There was some construction during this time and I could smell paint in the breakfast room, which is wide open to the entire building. You can walk out of your hotel room on any floor (say the 18th floor), walk 4 feet out and look down to the exposed food area. This me wonder about dust control and exposure to food. Anyway, without the construction and balcony gimmick, I like the hotel design. As for laundry, they offer a washing machine. The small soap pack costs 20rmb. Here's the next gimmick: The price they charge you to DRY your clothes (after you washed yourself) is the same to have them wash, dry, and package for you. So I just paid them to wash again. The iron in my room had a broken dial, but I was able to make it work. Overall, staff at the front desk helpful while intensely multitasking. I watched one guy dashing between calls, computers, and customers like a machine. The sleep was good here too.

The restaurant was very poor and short staffed

2 nights stay

location is not fantastic but ok. staff(Ms Du Jing) at bar counter was very pleasant and service with smile. But I have to say the food at the café was not tasty at all, I had spaghetti and also pizza. Wine could be better price too. Overall the stay is good as room is quite good.

Easy hotel for business in Puxi

I stayed to the Grand Mercure for one night before a flight out from Hongqiao airport.

Heater could be better

I am only giving Room Comfort a OK as the heater could have been a little better. Room was a little drafty which does not allow the heater to be efficient as it could be. Overall I would stay there again. Staff was great.

The room need a update, old cabinets. Insulation not great, a few times I felt someone was walking on my kitchen floor, actually was noise from upstairs. Exercise room was under maintenance, got notice 2nd day after I checked in. Will be nice if I knew they were going to do that in advance. Room charges includes breakfast, upon checked in was asked if I wanted to buy breakfast? Showed them the confirmation but still insisted breakfast not included, They had to ask the managers, later on it was confirmed the breakfast was in fact included. Breakfast has very little choice compared to others. Be there early if all rooms are booked, be prepared for the long breakfast line. 18 minutes walk to the Metro, a lot of restaurants around very convenient. Room very clean. Staff was great and helpful.

Good overall, but need a refresh...

Every morning they were doing renovation on the upper level, and the noise was simply terrible from 8 o'clock in the morning. I really had a bad time. I will never go back to this Hotel

Great business hotel. Very comfortable, only small drawback was the king size bed was a little too big for the room.

Good for business stay

Close to Hongquiao railway station and airport. About 30 minutes drive to most of city. It's a little bit away from subway. About 10 minutes walk to local resturants.

Old, run-down and tired

Although the lobby of this hotel is very acceptable, as soon as you step into the elevator and see the hallways, it is impossible not to see how shabby this hotel has become. Wallpaper is peeling away in parts, the carpets are dirty and the whole place has a lingering, damp smell. In fact after just two days I developed a cough due to the poor air quality. The bathroom facilities are adequate but it is obvious that this place is way past its prime and certainly is not a good representative of the Mercure brand. I wish I had chosen to stay at the nearby Hilton. The one positive was the friendly front desk staff, but ultimately I came for a clean experience in a western hotel and left feeling like I had been ripped off. Avoid the Grand Mercure Hongqiao, there is nothing grand about it. Even business travellers like myself will not be impressed, and you could even develop asthma from the dusty conditions.

Nice Hotel for business travel

Wifi is free at room and lobby. There is laundry machine in the guest room, but no dry machine. The lighting in the room is too dark. A little bit far away to underground station by walk. Air condition could not adjust temperature.

Good hotel, location could be more convenient

Arrived in Shanghai by train and made my way to the hotel by Subway. Problem with the hotel is that it is equidistant from three different Subway stations, all of which are about 15 minutes' walk away. Check in was good. Room was on the 18th floor. Anyone with a fear of heights would be fazed by the inner atrium which means that every room opens out onto an internal walkway and a drop down (17 floors in my case) to the restaurant. I had a suite which was very well equipped - microwave, cooking hob, washing machine, breakfast bar. Very well fitted bathroom and all sorts of nice little touches, although I had no personal need for the complimentary tampons or condoms. Reception staff were generally good although not always as attentive as they could have been. I thought I might have had a problem with an onward flight but, after about 10 minutes surfing the web, the staff member told me that yes, there was a flight at that time to Seoul and that if I looked online I could find the sumber to check the status of my booking - that's what I wanted him to do!

今回の部屋に備え付けられたウォシュレットのお湯の出が悪く、勢いがほとんどありませんでした。

3泊しました。最初の部屋は、シャワーの調子が悪く困りました。スタッフに頼むと気持ちよく部屋を変えてくれました。道順やタクシーを頼んでも気持ちよく受けていただきました。スタッフのサービスはとても良いです。

何度も利用させていただいています。施設は古めだが、部屋も清潔に保たれておりスタッフの対応も良い。また利用させてもらいます。

ウィークリーマンション的に洗濯機とかある『赴任者用マンション』みたいだっので、連泊なら使い勝手も良かったかも。 ウォシュレットが付いていたのは良かったですね。

部屋の内装や設備が少し古い点を除けば、交通の便もよく　少し歩けば、商業施設やレストランも多い。 従業員の態度も良く、リーズナブルなホテル。

ホテルがとても綺麗です。日本語を話せるスタッフが居ることで、非常に便利です。 これからも利用したいです。

日本の居酒屋も付近に多い。タクシーを頼んだがとても丁寧な対応だった。見送りもしてくれた、また泊まりたい。

No wifi, no internet

Everything but the wi fi and internet was ok. But during my stay I had no wi fi and even the internet did not work. Very strange. As soon as I left the hotel everything started working again.

設備が古い印象を受けた。また、洗面は事前にフタがしてあり、直接フタを押して開けないと水が流れない仕様のため、戸惑いました。　合わせて前の宿泊者の匂い（タバコ）が残っていたが、部屋変更してもらい解決しました。

ファミリールームがあり、家族連れに良い

地下鉄の駅まで距離があるくらいでその他は満足。

数年振りに上海にきました。ホテルはいつもここに決めてます。静かで、清潔、スタッフも親切。日本語が通じるスタッフもいます。（常時ではないようですが）コストパフォーマンスは最高ですね。
