Our second trip. Fabulous staff and a really good experience. Sitting on the back of the boat during the thunder storm was spectacular!
Location, location, location, apart from that no air con ,walls very thin thought my wife was up but it was next door😅, saying that clean towels
Excellent venue great location if your willing to transit via bus tram boat or scooter a short distance
the original allocated room was a little on the small side compared with the impression i had when seeing the pictures but was given another room for the next day onward and was fully satisfied. Would benefit to have breakfast included in the price but other than that a very good trip.
This boat hotel very close to train station, few minutes walk up to Margaret Bridge and to hop on hop off bus stop. The night view of Parliament building and lights at night so beautiful. Room and bathroom are clean, very cozy staying here.
It was still quite dated however that contributes to the feel of staying on a boat. The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make a great experience. The double beds could do with a double duvet rather than two singles.
Best view of the parlament
Excellent view and location
Quite close to margret bridge noisy when tram goes over and a good walk from main atractions 30 mins.
River view was stunning and so was the view from the deck, however rooms are tired and could do with modernizing but that could have effect on the price.
Great location! Staff are super friendly. Couldn’t do enough for you. This is not an upper class hotel and nor is it trying to be. Simple accommodation, great location, AMAZING VIEWS DAY AND NIGHT. Convenient to main tramline and hop on hop off city bus tours. 5 minute walk gets you to a really good all you can eat restaurant that provides high quality food for what is a very reasonable price. The guys at this hotel were some of the pleasant people who I met in Budapest. Nothing was too much trouble day or night!
The staff were all very helpful and extremely friendly. The decor is dated, but very clean. The room we had with river view was large and had superb views of Parliament. Very pleasant stay.
The location was very good it was close to the hop off hop on bus station. The staff was very helpful .
Was our first time on a boat hotel and we really enjoyed. Everyone was really nice and helpful. Recommend it
The views on the river were awesome and the AC was great.
Please save your money and go elsewhere. We booked this hotel as it seemed fun and beautiful to stay on the water with a great view. The great view was literally the only good point of the hotel. The room was filthy! There was huge black stains all over the carpet, hair in the bed and on the pillows, black mould under the pillows on the bedding, the A/C didn’t work and it was over 30 degrees out and there were signs up saying it’s better to keep the windows closed as there are no screens & a large population of insects that live aboard due to the boat being on water, the refrigerator wasn’t working either, the towels were all grey and dingy and they refused to replace them except for one that was exceptionally filthy as they claimed they had no more towels in the hotel and the room had a very strong chemical smell. Not cleaning products but something like a mix of Diesel & furniture polish. I asked if it would be possible for me to upgrade at my expense and they said they were fully booked. My girlfriend and I left with in 2 hours of checking in. They refused to give us a refund through Expedia claiming they accommodated us in every possible way and they lied to Expedia saying that they offered me other rooms but that they would all be the same. Expedia also refused to refund me saying that I booked a room without a cancellation option but it was obviously not a cancellation as we checked in and were not able to stay due to the condition of the room.
The view of Parliament from our room was excellent, especially at night. The overall experience of staying on a boat docked on the Danube was great fun. The staff members were friendly, helpful at making reservations, & calling transportation for us.
On the Danube
Wonderful experience to stay on board a boat anchored in a very convenient spot . I loved my cabin with river views. The staff were lovely, always helpful
Well worth a stay
Had a great experience, staff was extremely friendly and helpful and our room was comfortable.
Consider the larger cabins, the small cabins are small, just enough for sleeping. But you do have all the deck to move around in.
Great staff! Close to a Hop on - Hop off bus stop.
Heads up - If you are booking this hotel due to free parking, May be reconsider. I had the worst experience with parking here. They do not have their own parking, but use the public parking lot in front of hotel which is small and mostly crowded (especially in the day time). I was unable to find any open spots and had to pay for parking at some other parking spot and then use public transport to get to the hotel.
Perfect for getting out and about. Room was clean and tidy.
Pleasant stay in a lovely city
Really liked it here. Breakfast was simple but fresh and the staff were very helpful. Only downsides were you can't walk down the side of the bed due to space, shower power was variable and don't leave your key if you go out at night (as they suggest) as reception is not constantly manned and the room keys are just on hooks.
A hotel boat- how quaint! I loved my stay here! The location was great, close enough to walk anywhere, but not too close. The only issue being is you are close to Margit bridge and the trams are quite loud. The staff were very kind and helpful. The bed was REALLY comfy, and the towels so fluffy! Kindly they gave me a room with river views and the view was excellent. Maids came daily and cleaned, although I would have preferred it if they also hoovered the room during my stay. One thing I really loved about this hotel is sitting out on the deck reading my book with views of the parliament, széchenyi bridge, and royal palace at night! I would definitely stop here again!
Great location and views..thin walls
Staff very friendly and excellent location with great views from the boat. Walls are paper thin though and you can hear conversations next door spoken at normal volume. Rooms are very warm which was great in winter! And can open the window if you want some fresh air. Helpful that free parking is right next door as well!
Most amazing view and staff!
Best location ever with the most amazing view! Right next to tram and metro, close to everything! The view is amazing! Could not stop looking out my window. Rooms are small but to be expected on a boat. The staff is so friendly and helpful and knowledgeable of Budapest. Victoria was amazing, made us feel so welcome! Would definitely recommend, good value. Only thing they can improve on is the breakfast. Not worth the 9Euro.
Great hotel, very friendly staff, gave us some great tips and information for our stay in Budapest!
The receptionist working on Wednesday morning/afternoon (i didn't get her name) was absolutely amazing. She could not have been any nicer and was extremely helpful :)
Nice location and staff, but bad gasoil smell
Nice location, view and staff, but the smell of gasoil in very location was terrible.
Great experience staying in a boat with a beautiful view of the Danube and Budapest.
Too much perfume, hotel shuttle was really an overpriced taxi that dropped me off at the wrong place, nearly got into two accidents, and argued w
Lady at reception - what a lovely friendly and helpful person Boat is old and unique - very different place to stay Good location Clean Bit noisy with trams going over bridge
The staff at the Grand Jules were excellent. I would recommend anyone staying there. Excellent spot on the river. Close to all the transportation and activities. Will definitely return
Try the River Boat Hotel!
Location of this hotel which is a river boat converted to hotel is the biggest plus. Located at the foot of Margarit Bridge in Budapest on the Danube River. Steps from public transportation, groceries, Trofea Restaurant, two thermal baths. Staff very helpful. Free WiFi
This boat hotel is unique. The location is perfect, the room view is breathtaking and the price is doable. The room is small but it has everything. It gives the feeling of being on a cruise. The receptionist Aniko Loczy is well mannered and so helpful with touristic advice about Budapest. It was hard to leave this city due to its astonishing architecture and friendly locals.
Absolutely incredible place. Staff are so very helpful and eager to please x Local area offers so much to do just sad that we didn’t have more time.
Lovely hotel on the river with views of the parliament. Clean room although very basic. Clean throughout but in need of new carpets. Very small shower room.
The river view room is incredible, you can see the Parlament. The receptionist is so kind and helpful, you can ask her everything. It’s a cool experience to stay at a boat hotel
Great location on the Buda side
Excellent staff, extremely polite and helpful. We were able to leave our bags after checkout which was extremely helpful for us. Rooms are nice and clean. Beautiful views from room. Very nice to sit on the deck and enjoy the views. Close to tram and metro stations. We plan to stay again next year and would recommend this hotel.
pros and cons
The hotel is great for a quirky stay and the view at night is worth every dollar, but the damp smell we could only put up with for one night.
Stunning views just a bit basic and cramped but you get what you pay for lovely friendly staff, nice breakfast a lot worse places to stay in than here
Excellent location and reception staff, but...
Gran Jules is an old boat, but it is quite ok. It's a pity that operators don't do some small things to make your stay better, like hooks for towels in the bathroom and room, an ice machine for cold drinks (no ice whatsoever in the whole hotel) and a change of sheets after a third night. It's still a great place with million dollar views and worth your money.
Very good view of the city and it was easy to get to see things by walking.
Jules boat hotel Budapest
Good location easy walk to attractions staff very knowledgeable and friendly was a superb first visit to this city
Lovely hotel with amazing views!
Staff are super friendly & welcoming, the views are amazing, honestly loved it there
I loved the view, loved being on the boat The staff was outstanding and the breakfast was also great. The room was a little small for me, especially the bathroom. It was OK since I was alone, but with another person it would have been too small. The location had one disadvantage, it took a while to get a taxi to come to the dock. I'm glad I chose the boat!
Great hotel boat, close to all sites
Staff were amazing, room had everything required (apart from a kettle). Clean towels daily. The boat terrace was amazing to sit on at night. Within walking distance of all the sites and metro station next to it. Lots of eating places close by and a supermarket on the corner. Would highly recommend and would def stay again. Superb value for HUF.
Well located hotel
The hotel is really well located for links all across the city. The hotel is basic but clean. Some noise from the front door and reception in our room (we were right next to reception) and the towels weren't always changed despite placing the sign on the door. Otherwise a good value hotel.
Fantastic
Great view from boat deck and good location. Staff were helpful and friendly Victoria on reception was brilliant And made our stay enjoyable
Fantastic little hotel
First stop of a three week European travelling holiday with my mum. We arrived very late due a delayed flight and they could not have even more accommodating for us. Walking distance to most places (if you’re not willing to walk it’s 2 minutes from tram stops). Room was all we needed and was a super novelty to be staying on a boat!
The view from the boat overlooking the House of Parliment was fantastic. It is right next to a bus stop too. We could walk to both House of Parliment AND the castle from our hotel albiet it was a few miles. The only thing I really had an issue with was that the boat was on a slant and it felt like I was going to roll out of bed. Perhaps ask for a room on the side of the pariment and at least you'd have the view.
The hotel is in a good location but when we checked in there was an immediate smell of gas or cleaners ..the room that we we're assigned stunk of the smell. We moved it was tight room but expected on a boat. The next night the Air conditioning broke we left for the day being told they were fixing it.. when we came back late the AC was not fixed and it was too late to move the rooms were stifiling hot. Suffice to say the next day we were offered to move to the boat next door because the AC was not going g to be fixed till Monday. The boat next door is significantly nicer and I wish we had stayed there the whole time. The boat needs a complete makeover. Rooms carpets furniture everything.
Take your earplugs, you're going to need them. Expedia led me to believe the Grand Jules was a four star hotel. It's not. It's a three star at best. Still, the staff are four star and that made the difference for me. Otherwise, I would have cancelled my reservation and moved hotels. When I booked through Expedia, I booked a classic cabin with two twin beds. Upon check-in, I was given the smallest cabin with only 1 twin bed. When I inquired at the front desk, I was told that I had no options since I was single. I could only have the single twin. That was taken care of the next morning when I complained to the staff - after I went next door to their sister boat hotel and inquired about availability there. I was NOT happy. The staff, as already mentioned, gave me excellent service even before I arrived. I had just had knee surgery a few weeks before my trip and the staff took care of me. This was my first experience staying on a boat hotel. It won't be my last however, I won't be staying here. The Grand Jules is very old and in need of renovation. The rooms are tiny and the boat is so close to the tramline that you hear it all day long, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And they must be near a hospital as ambulances drove by sirens blaring throughout the day. Every day. There is no restaurant or coffee service available after breakfast. This means that if you want an afternoon or evening coffee, you must walk the quarter mile or so to the nearest cafe.
Stay here and don’t waste your money on cruises.
Its a clean and cozy boat property close to a metro station and a tram stop. However if you are a walker, you don’t need either. The staff is endearingly warm and helpful. The view from your cozy room is probably worth killing for. The Gorgeous city is lit up from 9 in the evening to 1 in the night. If you are not out exploring the beautiful city of Budapest, you can sit at the deck with a drink and enjoy a breathtaking view.
Fantastic views, very friendly staff.
The boat is a great place to stay. Friendly staff. The receptionists could not do enough for you, breakfast was nice, fridge in room and the views was amazing. We use to sit on the sun beds after a day sightseeing with beer from the supermarket . Bliss
Thank you note
Just enjoying the Reception team efforts to make my stay perfect. Thank you Victoria, Thank you Tibor.
The location is perfect and you have an amazing view of the Parliament building. The room is small, but that is expected as it is on a boat. It is very close to a couple tram stops and metro stops. There is a supermarket right around the corner as well which was very nice. The staff were very helpful, very responsive, and spoke very good English.
The hotel was in a perfect location with a wonderful view of Parliament Building. The staff were so helpful and warm. However, there was a disturbing smell in the rooms and they definitely need to improve the air conditioning. The breakfast was quite good. However, there was no drink service at night. So, you need to find a supermarket to get a beer.
Looks older than in the pictures. Smells of gutter as soon as you come in. Night staff not helpful at all.
The view is outstanding and the staff go above and beyond. The only down side was that as its newly refurbished their air conditioning didnt work and the nights were insufferable with the heat.
IF YOU REQUIRE LOTS OF TIME TO DO THESE REVIEWS NOBODY WILL BOTHER DOING IT!!
Budget friendly hotel with a great view!
My husband and I stayed in Budapest for 2 nights and we scored this hotel! It has an amazing view of the Parliament building and is right on the Danube river, which made it super easy to find our hotel after we were out all day. Breakfast was offered every morning for €9 and that was very convenient because it saved us from having to wander around to find food. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and I would recommend this place to anyone!
If you want something different
A bit different kind of accommodation. Not a five star hotell, but nice and tidy. Bed was really comfortable. The staff was really friendly and helpfull!
Amazing boat hotel with incredible view
It was a really pleasant stay. The location is very strategic right across the budapest parliament. Easy access by bus and tram. The room is very spacious with river view. The staffs were really nice and helpful. Incredible place with affordable price.
Great view of city lit up at night
Yeah, the rooms abit small and its abit noisey due to been in a city but the staff our lovely, rooms clean and compfy and you get an unbelievable view of the parliment building all lit up at night. Would deffinately go again.
Excellent staff and room nice and clean
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, the staff where so helpful the room clean and spacious, the hotel is ideally placed to explore Budapest and there are several eateries within easy walking distance, there is a small supermarket across the road and the bus, tram and hop on hop off bus service is within two minutes walking distance
Great location in Budapest
Grand Jules was very well placed for all transport links. Breakfast a little disappointing for the price.Tea and Coffee in the room would have been welcome..
The view from the boat was really nice and the area was calm
unconfortable
Great view but difficult access, no parking. Won't come back
Quiet location, but local to travel connections.
Breakfast good, steer clear of coffee from machine to milky. Value for money. Quiet location, but good transport connections, or you can easily walk to the main areas of interest. Nice hot shower, I have never stayed on a boat hotel before it is a different experience.
Really nice and different place to stay
Great place to stay and different. Wish I had booked a river view but that was my fault. Staff very friendly and helpful. The trams on the close by bridge were a little noisy but did not keep us awake because we were so tired from all the walking! Found out on last day we could have got an easy metro ride in to centre for only 350HUF from the underground across the road from the boat. Would stay here again and would definitely recommend!
Awesome
Great place
A true sample of excellent hospitality
Located centrally (moored directly on the Danube River, across from the beautiful Parliament building) in Budapest with awesome views the Grand Jules Boat Hotel is the best choice to stay during your visit. It is budget friendly, clean, comfortable and unique. The front desk employees are polished professionals with friendly demeanor, good command of English and great local knowledge. The entire staff is very friendly and very helpful. I recommend the Grand Jules for everyone who is looking for a nice stay with great hospitality in a great location. I was booked originally for 3 days. Because I enjoyed my stay so much, I actually extended my stay with 3 additional days. I am looking forward to return to this rare gem of a hotel in the future. See you here!
Great location, moored by Margit Bridge
Great location. Views to Parliament an beyond from the deck. Clean room, compact bathroom - as you would expect on a boat! Close to trams and Margit Island.
Quirky rooms/cabins
On check in our tiny room was nothing like the images provided when booking, so we asked to be moved to a larger room which was no problem. The room was still on the small side but then again this is a boat not a purpose built hotel. Our new room was much more manageable and brighter. It was clean, warm and surprisingly comfortable. The wet room had a hot powerful shower. Decor is quirky. There was little noise from other guests. Facilities are limited but for the price probably to be expected. Breakfast was an addiitional cost, the continental choice and quality was good but the cooked breakfast was limited, at €9 per person was a little expensive. Staff were always friendly and helpful. location on the Danube is very good. Public transport is easily accessible and walking to attractions is not a problem. We would stay again.
Grand Jules to MS Maribelle
I can't comment on our stay at the grand Jules as we never actually got to stay here. 1 day before our flight to Budapest, we received a very brief email to say that due to renovation work on the ship that we had been relocated to another ship the MS Maribelle. Thankfully the MS was a better looking ship and 4* but I had to contact the MS myself to confirm our booking information and re book airport transfers.
Great hotel right in the centre.
Excellent weekend lots of things to do. Great weather.
Staying on the boat was great and cannot beat the view if your room is facing the parlement building as we were. Breakfast is ok but not worth the price unless you need to eat as you get up. Better value elsewhere for breakfast.
Best AC in Budapest
This boat hotel is located perfectly on the Danube river square in the middle of the city. You can easily and with a 2 minute walk access trams, busses and metros. The rooms are cozy with nice interior and has the best AC I have ever seen. Our stay was during a heat wave of 35 degrees C. Our room stayed well under 20. Nice personel and great late checkout service. Will never stay at a different hotel while in budapest.
hajó, annak minden előnyével és néhány hátrányával
A hajó mindig tiszta. Sajnos éppen ezért parkolóhely sincs elég a parton hozzá.
Mysigt båthotell centralt i Budapest
Trivsamma hytter i detta båthotell. Nära till spårvagnshållplatser. Trevlig personal.
everything is great!!
Nahverkehrhaltestellen in unmittelbarer Nähe.Für 1 Woche OK.
Beautiful view on Danube
Very nice hotel with a beautiful view. The people there were very nice and friendly. So, certainly I can only recommend it.
Wer nicht in "üblichen" Hotelzimmern übernachten will, ist hier richtig. Schiff mit Blick aufs Parlament, Nachts besonders eindrucksvoll.

Location, floating on the Danube River, was fantastic. Wonderful views from our room facing the river. Fantastic views from top deck. Hungarian Parliament lit up at night was my favourite. Loved the breakfast with lots of variety. All staff very helpful. Only downside was the rooms are in need of a bit of tlc but was an awesome experience and would definitely stay again.
