Very nice hotel
24/7 check-in worked perfectly, we had a nice stay!
Think twice
I stayed here with my family. It was just a quick overnight stay, but when we arrived to our floor the carpet was all torn up and there were 'calling' cards in front of every room. Definitely felt extremely grossed out being in the room and having my sons be there as well. If it wasn't for the fact that we arrived so late, I would have left. The room wasn't dirty, but we touched as little as we could.
Wonderful
Actually stayed here twice, once in an older room which we were really happy with then secondly in one of their newly renovated rooms which was even more fantastic. We didn't try breakfast. Location was great, wifi was good, not a bad word to say about this one.
Great location in Guilin
I booked this hotel for a friend of mine and she had only good things to say about it. She said it was quiet, comfortable, in a good location and offers both Western and Chinese breakfast. She was very pleased with her stay.
good location. bed was hard as a rock
Pretty good for the price
Hotel is a stone's throw from Elephant Hill Park and Chinese restaurants. Rooms were clean and of a decent size. The double bed was really large but a little hard for us. There were some toiletries provided but not bottled water, but not to worry - there was a kettle, plus the shops right next to the hotel sell large bottles of water for RMB3. Overall a pleasant stay for a good price.
Do not stay in this hotel
Very bad stay. We bad beak fast . Do not stay in this hotel. Location is good . No locker in the room. No paper napkin in the room. Theu do not speak English .
Convenient Location But Room Lacking Common Amenit
We travelled from Guangzhou to Guilin by train. On the day we got our train tickets, I made a call to the hotel to request for free pick-up at the train station. However, I was told that such service is not available unless we had first paid for our rooms at the front-desk. That was a real lame excuse since we can’t possibly pay at their front-desk unless we were already there. I told the hotel staff that the pick-up service was stated on the hotels.com website, but she refused to budge. We had booked a family room. Compare with the pictures on the site, our room was not very big. And for a family room at S$69/night, it is rather lacking in common amenities. There is no mini bar, safe, complimentary mineral water, and tissue paper – which we usually find in most 3-star hotel rooms. The room-heater was not operating well and we had to call for help twice because it didn’t work after their first round of assistance. The hotel staff that came to help us were not familiar with the operating function though. The heater worked in the end although we had to stay inside the COLD room for 30 minutes before it began to work. The hotel is located in the city centre and so it is quite convenient to move around on your own although we only did that on the final night of our stay. We had engaged a taxi to chauffeur us around on the first day, and we went on a day-tour on the second day.
2 star only, no napkins, towel looks old, water power low, non smoking room but has strong smoking smell, bed rail edge rough, cut my toe..
Cheap n cheerful
Its ok for that price, but is very basic but good enough for a few nights, centrally located.
Value for the money
The check in was very simple and convenient. Friendly staff. Room had mold behind the curtains and you can see the slums from the window.
Dark and Dirty
Dirty rooms. Dirty washroom. Dark and dirty hotel. Not near to shopping zhengyang pedestrian street. Avoid! We quickly canceled the rest of the booking with this hotel after first night.
grand hotel
It was really nice hotel. Beds were not rock hard. Extra blankets and pillows were already in the room. I'll stay again :)
It was ok
The price is very cheap, so you will not have a good service. But the room is good and has wifi.
Decent
Location was decent, the staff helped as best they can since there was a language barrier. The hotel constantly reeked of cigarette smoke. The room was rather cold but that par for china in the winter. For the price, the hotel was decent.
good location, cheap
good location, cheap
There is a manhole along the road in front of the hotel, but due to it being uneven, it create a sound when vehicle passed by. Therefore, it is noisy the whole night. The location is not to bad but will have to walk a short distance to where the activities are.
Nice location,but a bit old.need maintenance
In a good location
We booked this hotel because it offered a complementary pick up from the airport and the hotel was in a good location. Prior to leaving the UK I had received confirmation from the hotel that they would meet us at the airport. This did not happen therefore I believe that the hotel advertises this service to gain your custom. I asked if they would drop us of at the airport when we flew back to UK. Hotel staff refused this request & said this was an option only when arriving into Guilin. We stayed for 13 nights the room was not comfortable at all. Our room was very basic with rock hard mattresses. The bathroom and the room floor was not always cleaned. In addition I killed a large cockroach next to my bed left it in a prominent position for the cleaner and surprisingly the cockroach was still there for five days prior to flying back to the UK. There was a huge damp patch across two walls with plaster work falling off. I continually had to ask for toilet paper because the cleaner rarely left us any. I agreed with the receptionist for a late check out for 16.00 hrs advised that this was not a problem. The next day hotel staff was assertive & told us that we had to vacate our room by 12.30. The hotel staff was very unwelcoming especially staying there for 13 nights they did not say hello or acknowledge us as we passed through the reception area. On the odd occasion when the cleaner attended to our room a supply of teabags were stolen. I did not mind but I wished she had left some.
Great Location at a Great Price!
This hotel was perfect for exploring all the sights, sounds and tastes of Guilin - with pleasant and cosy rooms too. The hotel staff are also able to book you on to a Li River cruise too, which was my highlight of my time there.
OK
The owner of the tour in the hotel was very persistent in selling their tour which it is changing price all the time and not firm what they price to the customers.
Great location in city centre
The hotel was centrally located. It was clean and checking in was great. We booked a Li River cruise direct from the hotel and it was very convenient, cost effective and we went without a hitch.
Pros and cons
The room was basic basic basic! Think DIY construction with materials from a salvage yard. But it was cheap, so no real complaints on this score. But ..... the website specifically advertises complimentary bottled water in the room, standard practice in even the most basic hotels in China, and there was none there. Thinking this was an oversight I requested some at the reception desk where I was told "No water in rooms" and that I had to buy it from the vending machine. Service at reception varied greatly .... communication was generally adequate except for the "water guy," and the young ladies were always very helpful. Breakfast was not included in the rate, and a sign in the lobby lists the Chinese breakfast as 18RMB (3USD) and the Western breakfast as 30RMB (5USD.) I didn't see the sign on my first morning, so had the Chinese buffet, which was a bit limited but quite adequate. Other guests were told that same morning that there was NO western breakfast, and found a muffin, yogurt and coffee in a nearby shop, but I had no problem with getting the western breakfast the next day. The Chinese buffet is by far the better choice unless one insists on toast and fried eggs rather than boiled. One plus: The hard-wired internet connection in the room looked old and tired, but it was the fastest and most reliable I found anywhere in China, including 5-star hotels. But ultimately the thing that I will remember is that there was no bottled water in the rooms as advertised.
Good location for Central Guilin
Good location, very close to Elephant Rock and easy walking distance from the main town square. Some excellent and inexpensive noodle houses within meters of the hotel and an all night supermarket is opposite. Hotel was helpful and provided a room with three beds for the children. Staff very helpful at front desk.
Close to Forbidden City
This place is a minute on foot from north entrance of forbidden city. I took subway line-4 from beijing south train station and walked to my hotel. Its a 20 minute walk which i enjoyed. Line-4 also takes you to summer palace, which is fast and inexpensive way relative to taxi.
Convenient & Affordable
Very convenient location at an affordable price. Overall the hotel interrior is a bit tired, but it was comfortable and acceptably clean for the price. Most of the time the front desk could speak enough english to be able to communicate and tried hard to be helpful. Depending on what you want to do in this city the location is convenient. We had trips outside the area (rice terrace's & Li River Cruise), so in the evening this was a very convenient location to walk to the twin Pagoda Towers and an areas with shops and restruants. Overall I would suggest this location to those looking for a basic hotel at a very reasonable rate - nothing fancy.
Front desk is no 10
Not recommended for Westerners with no Mandarin knowledge. Front desk service appaling. Will not order taxi to bring us to airport as evertything is: cannot do! It was almost impossible to ask front desk for toilet paper as there was none when we checked into room. Staff at front desk should all be replaced with friendlier ones who can speak one or two words of English.
Welcome to China
English is a bit of a challenge for the staff, but they maintain a good attitude and help as much as they can. The room was clean and neat but there was a funky odor in the corridor. The breakfast is good and plenty if a bit unfamiliar to the western taste. Location can be a bit awkward because of the fences in the street preventing traffic from entering except with a long approach. Overall it is a fair value for the money and it provides a good emmersion into the local culture. It might not be the best choice for inexperienced travelers due to communication issues. I would consider staying here again because of convenience to scenic sites. Overall a pleasant accomodation but not luxurious.
well i put 3/5 but the price says it all
Lets say that the price says it all is not that bad but is not good at all the bed was ok but in general looks bad
Very good hotel
It is in a good location in Guilin but I had a very hard time finding it. The map that I saw on the internet was wrong. and were the map showed location there were no street signs. I asked many people where is Wen Meng Lu and they didn.t know. But with the help with friends I found hotel.
nice hotel for the buck
Nice hotel for the price, breakfast could of been better. The noise at night around the hotel is loud and will keep you awake on some nights. plenty of info at the front desk, airline tickets can be filled at front desk also. Nice hotel for the money.t t
Find a better hotel
Lack of help and the rooms were scantly furnished with horrible childrens colours. The staff were unable to help as they could not speak any english. The location did not offer anything. Find a better place.
Look for a better hotel.
7 staff on the front desk and no one could find a piece of paper to write something down for me. Absolute chaos on the front desk. Breakfast was not enjoyable. The room was pink yellow green purple and looked like a kindergaten play room. The bed was hard. The location had nothing to offer.
you get what you pay for
This hotel was booked largely on info from the website--the first big difference is the web picture of the frontage and the reality--not a good start. The room was basic and had been cleaned, but was not "clean" by other than Chinese standards. The price paid reflected the standard we recieved, but the website definitely paints a rosier picture than is true. Despite being sold to foreigners, almost nobody had even basic English so every dealing became frustrating. The hotel is literally 100 yards from the entrance to Elephant Trunk Hill scenic area but, unless you pay 75 yuan each (7.5 GBP/pp) you can't see the trunk, as the whole area is blocked by trees so no views are possible , other than inside the scenic area. If you are on a budget, this place will do the job, but if you are unsure when abroad, book somewhere else. Overall we didn't pay a lot and didn't get a lot!
Excellent price, good hotel.
The condition of the hotel could be improved. It seems that it lacks maintenance. It could be cleaner, but for the price its a good option, close to the main attractions. The rooms are fun, beds are ok and at least my room view wasn't nice. The neighborhood is not the best, but it is convenient, with lots of stores, atms and walk able places. The staff speaks just a few things in English, mostly Chinese.
Good value hotel
Clean hotel. The staff speaks fluent English, and the location is very good.
Great hotel, great city
The hotel provided pick-up from the airport which was very easy to arrange; I just called them up and their English speaking staff sorted it out. When I got to the hotel I realised that the Expedia price was about 1/3 of their rack price - pretty impressive! The hotel was clean and the room was very modern, also really good location - I actually really liked Guilin City as well!!
the smoke smell in the room was really unpleasant, everything else was fine, good location
Convenient location
This was a pretty standard hotel room. We got the business executive rooms at a very decent price (very worth it). The best part of the hotel was that it was within 5 minutes walking distance of the elephant trunk hill and sun and moon pagodas. It was also very close to a popular shopping area and some restaurants. I would recommend the hotel for travelers looking for an affordable place to stay within close proximity to tourist attractions.
Grand Hotel Guilin
The room itself was comfortable and staff were helpful. The hallways and elevator were a little hot but ok
Grand 0773 Hotel Guilin
Very nice hotel and located right next to one of the major attractions in Guilin
Low Budget Wonder
The hotel says it's decorated in an "art deco" style but it looks more like an 8 year girl was the interior designer. However the location of the hotel certainly can't be beat! You are walking distance to just about everything you need or want to see in Guilin. The hotel chinese breakfast was adequate and quite cheap. The bed was hard as a rock but if you're only staying a few nights, definitely due able. For the cheap price listed on hotels.com I suggest paying the view extra bucks for the executive business suite so you don't have to watch your family members "doing their business" but have a door for some privacy. Overall, for a three night stay, the hotel was perfect.
Grand 0773 Hotel
Hotel staff was nice, friendly, and helpful. Most of the front desk spoke good English. The hotel location is excellent.
I would definitely would stay there again.
Very good location, and the people there were very friendly, there was a gentleman Vincent, that was very helpful, he was always asking me how my day was going and he was very helpful. I would stay there again. My room was very nice and clean, the only thing was that the bed was a little hard for my liking but that would not change my mind about staying there again.
Would stay again if ever in Guiling again
I decided to spend the few extra dollars to get the Deluxe Buisness room. It was well worth the money. The room had plenty of area. I liked the lounge chair in the room, except that it made it difficult to open and close the window. The location could not have been much better. This hotel is with-in walking distance of many major attractions in Guilin. It would have been nice if they had an English channel in the TV. I was a little concerned when going to the room, as the carpet in the guest hallway was a little worn, but once inside the room, everthing was clean a well maintaned. The decore was like a retro 70's from America, but still pleasent. The bed was typical Chinese, very firm ( a piece of plywood with a few inches of padding ), but still comfortable. Pillows were more western. For those like a nice bowl of noodles, there is a good noodle shop directly across the street. They were open very early, if you like noodles for breakfast, and also stayed open until late. I do not know the hours, but I never saw them closed.
Grand 0773 Hotel in GuiLin
Very reasonably priced hotel close to where airport shuttle drops off. We needed a hotel for our late-night arrival from airport (after 1 a.m.). The Grand 0773 was clean, and comfortable. We chose the superior business room as it was so reasonably priced. Breakfast was not included with room and somewhat lack-luster for its price. No coffee included with room, unless you paid extra. Good hotel for price.
Mooi hotel met uitstekende ligging
Perfect verblijf, mooiste van onze trip in China. Goed gelegen, mooie ruime kamer en sanitair was doenbaar
Supert beliggenhet
Fint hotell!
Overnight stay, but seems ok
We only stayed overnight but our impression of the hotel was overall ok.
Great location
The hotel is in a great location, the beds are hard and the room was spacious and clean. Only one lady at the front desk speaks some English, so when she is not around you may have a hard time.
No complaints at all.
It's a very very nice hotel! Easy to find, nice rooms, good air conditionair machines, no complaints at all.
Nice hotel in the center of Guilin
Nice hotel in the center of city. 15 minutes from Railway and Bus station. Very good location. Although taxi drivers don´t speak english by the number they find it very quickly. Staff speaks very good english and rooms are very comfort. I can recommend it.
Perushotelli
Billigt men skitigt
Fin standard
