Poor communication, broken boiler, not so great
It was terrible because when we got there, between navigating a delayed flight and finding our way to the apartment with luggage, the host could only be there at specific times. We got there in the rain and had to wait in a dark lobby with all our luggage until the host was able to show up. He's a nice chap, and quite friendly as a human being, but that experience was the beginning of the terrible next two days. The boiler broke after one person had a shower, and I called and chased being promised that an engineer would come that night. I waited all night, and the rest of the family had a cold shower. The next day was no different: two consecutive days with no running hot water and cold showers left a bitter taste in my mouth and ruined what would have been a great family holiday - first time in Portugal. It was eventually fixed on the third day without notifying us. The comms and the experience marred the holiday for the family.
