No water and staff staying in our room
Our room had a staff member living in it. We were then 'upgraded' to another room that was dirty with no water for our whole stay. Tried finding staff but no one was around agter 5pm. We eventually found a security gaurd who told us the whole resort had no water and this was normal.
Sad...
Hi, Sadly Manyane has not been maintained well since the fire in the main building, it does not offer a free breakfast, only toasted sandwiches which you pay for and the tents around the doors have been cut open so it did not feel safe to leave ones belongings in the tents. The abloution block is dirty and only a few taps and showers worked. The staff are trying really hard but in general, management of Golden Leopard Resort should fix what was once the best resort in the Pilanesberg. It was a sad and frustrating stay there.
We were never notified of the poor condition of the resort or that there had beentwo disastrous fires and no reasonable restaurant or swimming facilities.
There was no mention that the place is burned down with limited facilities available. The telephone number listed on google maps is not working. The central reservation number listed on your web site is not working. Emain enquiry is not answered. Please get your act together. The staff at the resor changed us to another resort, which was ok. But also needs a bit of love, care and tenderness to make it comfortable again.
was a pleasant stay
Poor communications
We were not notified in advance of arrival the restaurant had burned down which required a change of plans.
Lovely place but fire has damaged the restaurant
Listing and website did not provide information about the dilapidated conditions that the fire left behind. Breakfast was supposed to be included but they were unable to provide it due to the restaurant being burnt down. The pool was also inaccessible for the same reasons. There was also no electricity during the majority of the trip. There was a generator providing electricity for the chalets but not the tent camp. Staff were very friendly and the beds were nice. Staff kept ablutions well cleaned.
Nothing was mentioned that a year ago 47 chalets burned down due to a bushfire. A week before arrival the reception area, kitchen and dinning room burned down. Breakfast was include in the price, must be taken in another camp at proximité 30 minutes driving. The swimming pool was green Our reservation for two was with kitchenette etc included, the our rental we received was a very small room with no kitchen sink, nothing. Air conditioning was leaking … but was fixed After 30 minutes discussion we received two decent chalets with everything included. Our two chalets were great at that time. In the past Manyane was a great place to stay, this time it was a ghost town with only four chalets occupied. The next morning our neighbours moved out . We were alone in the camp except some campers. This time our stay was not great no fun at all. Staff in Manyane was very helpful and friendly to assist us.
Affordable stay close to Pilansberg
Their was a few hiccups like braaigrill was never cleaned, they experienced a waterproblem, out tentdoor was not in a good shape, but the friendly staff and help was super. From the gatekeeper right through to the manager of restaurant was extremely friendly. For that reason we will come back and pray that all their challenges will be sort out soon.
we had a good time, the restuarant dinner staff seemed irritated to have us there and the wait was very long, but the food was delicious and the morning staff was so friendly the beds are super comfy and we had a great nights sleep - the security guards were quite rude in the evening all in all it was a great experience and we would definately come again
A relaxing and en enjoyable 3 nights. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was very good, but the choice was limited. Especially if you choose the half board option, you have to take the set menu, which has limited options. However, it was very tasty and well prepared. The main issue was the access to the internet. It was very intermittent and was rarely available around the chalets. Indeed it was also very slow, or not even working around the main block as well. I had some work which I couldn't finish due to this problem. This unfortunately will likely ensure I wouldn't return in future, this issue really needs to be addressed. All the staff: at the restaurant, chalet cleaners, security and front desk were very welcoming and helpful.
Excellent stay, excellent service.
On arrival we were told that we were booked in unit 2A. When we came back from our drive in the park I asked and was given the key to 2A. Then, when we told them at the reception that there was no grit in the shower and the heater did not work, we were told that we actually are in unit 1. I think his name is Victor, helped us to move ourb elongings into unit 1. He was so helpful and friendly. Hold onto him. Unit 1 was excellent. At 6pm two tired ladies went for dinner. Service was excellent and the food was tasteful and of good quality. Just a pity, the stock of venison steak had not been restocked as it was Monday. My friend from the UK would have enjoyed a kudu steak. Otherwise. We have no complaints. Breakfast and check out was good and friendly. (We ate much to much.) All in all: I had good service once again and I shall be back.
Manyane May 2023
Very helpful staff. Would recommend more TV channels to be available especially SS1. Wifi is non-existing so if you could expand it to the chalets it would be great.
Staff very friendly. Tent itself was not up to standard. Some of the window flaps couldn’t open. No towels on bed as usual. The braaier was broken. Outside tap was broken. Theres a serious need for maintenance.
You booked me knowing that all the staff is on strike and the facilities are not functional at all. I therefore demand an immediate refund. I will allow you one week after which, if no refund was received, I will be seeking legal advice
WATERLESS "HOLIDAY
Stayed for 48 hours of which over 36 hours we did not have water.
It was all good. The rooms differ a lot we had alot of people we all paid the same but some got way better rooms an we are not sure how that happened.
Very good experience staying in the safari tents. However, the food available for breakfast was not the best. I would suggest they offer freshly brewed coffee instead of packets. The continental breakfast could do with more variety.
Attention needed
There are electrical wires hanging out of the wall, cupboard door falling off hinge in the kitchen, one light bulb not working. During a heat wave and air conditioning does not cool. Fan cannot be switched on as it trips all electricity
Reset adventure
Good experience. Reception welcome was pleasant. MARTHA was amazing. Helpful in every way. Food was good. Vegetarian meals catered. I'm so thankful. Dinner and breakfast was good.
so good to be back at manyane
We had a great time
Terrible Holiday
Our stay as a family was quite bad, we were really disappointed. We paid R3 300 a night for 3nights which was about R10K and the experience was extremely lousy. The chalets are extremely small, the loft upstairs was sooooo uncomfortably hot for my 12 year old daughter that she had to sleep on the couch. There are no plugs in the loft for even a possible fan, let alone for charging her devices. I battled to even get an iron (we assumed all chalets would have an iron), food at the restaurant was not great, service very poor (had to wait for just a spoon for more than 15minutes). Did i mention that the so-called phone in the chalets was not working - for the whole time we were there so for the iron that we needed, we had to walk all the way to reception, wait there forever and ultimately left, for it to be delivered 30minutes later. Of course after another 30minutes, they came to collect the iron. So, the following day we had to walk to reception again, for an iron. For the amount we paid, we felt robbed and will not be going there anytime soon. It was the longest 3days of our holiday lives. _
I had create time at Safari camp. The tap are the only thing that need to be fixed coz walk distance to fetch water.
Memorable stay every time
Somewhat dissapointed but we had a great time
Stay was great. Only the restaurant is really lacking badly! Example half the main menu was not available and could only choose from 2 dishes for dinner! And the bar is under stocked and only has the basics! Example my wife only had a choice of bavaria gin and dry lemon or smirnoff storm or wine! Very bad in that regard!!! Day visitors spoils it for the people paying alot to stay there as well. Before the stay i asked whether day visitors are allowed due to covid restrictions and they sai no. However its not the case and be sure that the swimming pool will be off limits during the day as its packed with day visitors!
Amazing location but dated property.
The location is unbeatable, but the resort desperately needs to be updated. They are not maintaining the place and it’s run down. The rooms need desperate upgrades and then appropriate maintenance. Would not recommend it.
Manyane Resort needs maintenance urgently, the swimming pool was greener than the grass that are left on the resort and I will not swim in that dirty pool. The camping site needs a lot of maintenance, the ablution blocks were clean.
Wonderful, staying at Manjane, as always. Unit very clean and tidy. The onky drawback, is the generator running from 4 - 12 at night. It drives one crazy., so noisy and a lot of diesel wasted. Apparently, according to a worker, tbe elictricity bill was not paid, so they have to run 2 huge generators, to provide power in the resort. This is unacceptable, for the price paid.
My only problem with our stay was, I rented 4 chalets for 8 of us, on the Friday night we braaied, no plates, no knives and forks, unacceptable.
Pilanesberg must Improve to be perfect
The stay was amazing and we loved the chalets being so close to the bush. It was quiet and private. The chalets were clean and comfortable. The people are friendly and helpful. The following was unpleasant and must improve: The refuse bins are not emptied and refuse were on the ground in the camp. Maintenance is not good and there are signs of neglect everywhere. The restaurant's food is good, but many things on the menu is not available. The menus are filthy. The breakfast was not ready at 7. The put put course is neglected and dirty. The outdoor chess set is dirty and broken. The pools are dirty and we chose not to swim becaus of that.
no water
very bad to tell you… we couldn’t shower or bath. no water pressure… very disappointed
Lovely peaceful weekend getaway.
We had a lively time the Camp Site was beautiful fully booked. The camp site itself was so clean. Ablutions block A upgraded clean. We had a wonderful time in the game reserve. We saw loads of elephants rhino giraffe antelope wildebeest leopard stalking antelope hippo wonderful sightings. The staff were fantastic on site and the restaurant which needs our support during covid.
Bathroom wasn't clean. Bedrooms are dark, small and very old interior. Place generally run down!
Unfortunately no fan received when asked for but overall a pleasant stay.
Maintenance of tents is not up to standard.
Our tent was clean. During check-in the staff was very friendly. There were no bar fridge snd aircon like advertised. The braaier was broken , intact all the tents' braaiers were broken. The light outside didn't work. The dustbin inside tent was also broken. We certainly didn't get our money's worth.
Very steep stairs that kids are expected to climb at night, aircon only in main bedroom, insects and spider webs all over thatch
Staff were very welcoming Chalets were clean apart from few spider webs
Had to argue about Dinner! The Waiter told us that dinner is not included. We sorted it out, but the food was not good. I did not go for breafast after that. We had breakfast in the Centre of the park.
Away from home
WE enjoyed our stay, short as it was, but were not so happy about some not working or broken lights and a damaged telephone cable. There is room for a improvement
Will come with my caravan for longer
Don’t go there!
Will never go there again and it is NOT a 4 star hotel. 2 star at best!!!!!!!
Very noisy camp due to druken music ... don't stay
Really noisy 2.00am music blaring from a shaken at the local garage. Never stay here again!!! Extremely bad roads .... hunting in the park to pay the wages ... the whole reserve is a mess.
Upgraded Manyane is a wonderful suprise
Overall the condition of Manyane is much better than when I have stayed here before, the security upgrade is great and the perimeter of the fence did not have so much plastic and garbage like it used to and I am glad to see that they have replaced the rubbish fence with an electric one so I will definitely come back again. Also their security patrol is friendly, well equipped and is proactive around greeting guests in the camp so that they feel safe. So well done to Manyane for that upgrade. Sadly the restaurant service is still slow and the lady who makes eggs in the morning has no idea what she is doing and throws the sunnyside up eggs on the plate so it breaks and splatters everywhere, she also uses way too much oil so my eggs just tasted like oil and it was not pleasant.
We paid USD 250 for a night : 1. The toilets are broken 2. The aircon is from 1985-old broken and noise 3. Too crowded 4. It does not feel like you are in the wilderness, its just felt like sleeping in a cheap road lodge room 5. I was sending messages to Expedia app to the hotel, no one responded The breakfast was great, the staff was helpful in the restaurant that's the only plus point
Not much at all. I do not think that the price is appropriate at all for what we received. The chalet at R3200 per night is ridiculous. Very dingy feel to it, very smelly, shower leaves huge water mess all over the bathroom floor, lighting was ridiculous at night with one light not working in bathroom you cannot even see int the shower properly, glass doors rusting at the bottom, cupboard door peeling, 4 people came to stay but the sachets left in the room were for 3 people and no replacement on Saturday. Overall feel of the chalet is worth only R800 rand a night since it is a self catering and only includes breakfast. Overall, the deco is dingy, TV could not be watched as the picture was too snowy. Will be putting up a review on other sites because of the bad pricing on this place and will never stay here again.
Ovepriced stay at Manyane
As frequent visitors to all the major game reserves in South Africa, I would certainly not recommend staying in a two sleeper chalet (6a) at Manyane. Had no towels on arrival. Mini fridge was switched off and completely defrosted when we got there. The door of the fridge could not close properly. The two tub chairs were old and worn. The air con was noisy. No TV remote on arrival- when we finally got one on request the back cover was broken and batteries kept falling out. No matter how you adjusted the TV areal, there was snow on the screen. The buffet breakfast was quite disappointing as most of the items on offer were lukewarm and seemed quite oily and stale. The small shop in the camping area were very scarcely stocked, and the shop attendants not very helpful. The setup at the braai area outside our unit was quite uncomfortable- as there was a shrub/small tree between the stoep and braai. Also the amount of stray cats that wander around the chalets and even in and around the restaurant/eating area by the pool are increasing and really doesn't seem to be a vey sanitary situation. In general the unit feels dark, outdated and old fashioned. I honestly feel that you are not receiving value for money.
I was disappointed with the way that my arrangement was made, on my intial booking form i requested a double bed in the unit. Prior to arrival i tried to confirm this and called the resort and hotels.com to finalise this - it did not happen! I was also under the impression that it was a self catering unit but it was not, this should have been made clear in the advert!!
Location is good. Close proximity to Sun city and the Pilanberg National park
The staff were super friendly, the accommodation spotless, we stayed in the 4 bed chalets. We loved walking in the trail around the camp, the visiting baboons, impala, and the gang of banded mongoose. It is also fabulous to have a dip in the pool in the summer afternoon heat. Highly recommended!
Noise levels
Everything was good, just not happy about the staff village at night, they had a party till 4 in the morning. The noise was unbearable we were not able to sleep at all. I was surprised as there are large signs all over saying no loud music, yet we were not able to sleep
Excellent stay, but wrong directions!!
Our stay at the resort was pleasant. The staff at the camp is very friendly and helpful at the venue.Breakfast and dinner were excellent and we had far too much to eat! :-) However, during telephone calls beforehand to confirm our booking, the staff seemed to be clueless and we were transferred from one extension to another, which was extremely frustrating. Unfortunately the google-map provided by hotels.com together with confirmation of the booking, was wrong and took us on a long and unnecessary detour to another entrance gate of the Park, only to have to turn around on a not-so-good road. We wasted almost an hour with the detour. Exactly the same happened to another couple who drove immediately in front of us. Please check whether it is the venue which provided the wrong pin, or whether the problem lies with hotels.com loading the wrong destination.
Fantastic location and a comfortable chalet. The one negative is that we were there on a Friday night and there was some sort of outdoor event with really loud music until 4 a.m.
over all it was lovely but the only issue was the very loud music coming from a local establishment outside the camp .
I have visited here before with good experiences. This time I brought an American tourist on his first Africa trip. This time the experience was poor. When I tried to check-in 45 minute prior to the official check-in time, I was turned away and told to return at the check-in time. The A/C in the room was not able to cool the room. There was a light out in the kitchen. I reported it but no-one came to replace the light meaning we cooked in the dark. Overall, the staff were unfriendly. One customer in front of me was frustrated because they had been double charged for the booking by the reception agent. The staff member informed the customer to return when they could prove from their bank statement that they had been double charged. The customer indicated that they were leaving the country the next day. Another customer was frustrated because they too were turned away when they tried to check-in 1 hour earlier that the official time for check-in. Finally, I was given remote control for the TV and was charged a deposit. No problem - except that the remote control did not work. I was only staying one night, so just didn't have the time or energy to have to go back to the front desk to get a working remote control. I will not stay here again.
Pilanesberg
This is mainly a base for visiting Pilanesberg National Park. The park itself is worth visiting, though the roads are in terrible condition and driving can be difficult. The resort is mainly a place to stay while visiting the park. Unfortunately it does not live up to its description. The staff can be unfriendly and unhelpful, the accommodation is at best adequate to basic (though described as ‘luxury’) and the restaurant offers a limited range of non-memorable food. Overall, ok as a base to see the park but little else.
Great place to stay, with easy access into Pilanesberg National Park. Friendly staff. Loved the local cheeky monkeys and the cute impala :)
Great experience. Already planning my next visit.
Happy
Worthwile stay. Bathroom still had old soap in from previous guest and room aircon did not work.
This was pretty much what I expected. The property was clean. We stayed in a tent. Beds were comfortable. Overall, the property was pretty crowded with all of the campers. But people were respectful and pleasant to be around.
Low value for money
The prize for a tent in a setting with no view is rather high. For the same prize I could have stayed outside in a guesthouse with full amenities. The most inconvenient part was that you promised free WiFi .... but there is no WiFi at the ressort - can not be nowadays anymore. Additionally the selection for food and wine was very limited - from the few items on the menu, various where not available.
Close to the park with plenty of birds and big furry animals to observe.
Disappointing tented resort
There were no coat hangers or place to hang even a dishcloth never mind clothes. The only cupboard had less space than a suitcase for 1 person. Self catering here means no cutlery crockery or pots and pans no ice trays or shelves in freezer which I think should be stated in the advertising. For self catering I expect only to provide the food and not a whole kitchen. 2 small towels were provided for showering but not even 1 piece of guest soap. On the positive side the ablutions were spotless with lots of hot and cold water.
Chalet was fine. Breakfast was very good. Buffet dinner not worth the price
Off the beaten track
Lovely to remember that there is a family resort accessible to parents travelling with children. Manyane Resort reminds me of thos holidays I used to take with my parents - not too over the to, but comfortable and provides easy access to the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve.
Great
It was awesome, the place is clean and quiet.
Safari tents: Furniture is old. Linen is dated. It says self catering bed there was only a fridge and a kettle. No crockery or cutlery.
Not as shown on Internet
Sorry but we were very disappointed with our chalet and not as advertised on your picture. It was very dark, small and cold.Ok we were in the bush but expected a little more comfort.
Close to Pilanesberg, excellent value with meals
We had an excellent stay in the safari tent. We took the half pension and the meals were excellent. You can make a fire at night, and relax under the stars. It was very quiet, although it is an urban environment close by and you hear the road. I can imagine it gets noisy during the busy season. Close to the reserve, (3 minutes) very nice staff. We went for a run in the hiking trails, very nice and saw fe We stayed there on the very last night of a safari trip in SA, and it was more fun than an hotel in downtown JoBurg...it is feasible as it is 2 hours from the OR Tambo airport.
Great weekend at Pilansberg game reserve. Only thing that photo’s not supplied of tents.
Just perfect for the bush
Lovely accommodation- everything you need for a relaxing bush break!
Nice weekend at Manyane.
The accommodation is basic but fine. Breakfasts are great, dinners not so good. The roads in the park are VERY bad and not maintained but the animals are wonderful. We enjoyed our stay.
Old but clean.
The unit we got was small but big enough for us. The strangest thing of it all was that this was a self catering unit with a kettle, fridge, glasses and cups. There was no washing up area? After searching for a communal dish washing area and not finding it, we assumed that we needed to wash the cups and glasses in the bathroom area? Not the best place to do dishes, especially if there was dinner dishes as well. Otherwise the unit was clean but old. Manyane resort needs some serious maintenance as it is fast going to become redundant. Sad as this resort has serious potential.
Check in was terrible, lady on telephone laughing talking to her friend and we were nothing but an interruption! She eventually handed over a form without hanging up phone and continued her conversation. I was then handed an anonymous key and left alone to find the un-referenced lodge 500m away with baggae. The door lock was broken on the lodge so I had to walk back reception only to find the same lady in the same position on telephone. When i complained she hung up and attended to me. Lodges are very old, worn and over priced but we should remember this is very much a third world country and decent standards of accommodation are very expensive. Breakfast was good & 5.30am safari made the whole thing worthwhile! Rhino, lion, wilderbeast, jackle, zebra, elephant, hippo were all spotted!!

Fire damage is extensive b
Fire damage is extensive, but what remains is well managed. Looking forward to it getting back up and running as it is a charming breakaway
