Nickel and Dime Everything
Stayed in a room as a family of 5. I'll admit that this is the first time I have stayed in a hostel but it wasn't something we will do again. Room was small, only 1 outlet in the room for 5. No towels in the room, had to pay extra for towels. No wifi as mentioned, except in the lobby - so the lobby was full of students. The wife definitely wasn't happy. The place reminded me of an airline, where everything was nickel and dimed. Next time, just stay in someplace nicer.
Overall o.k.
Overall it was ok, staff friendly. Beds were quite hard and when I complained about the shower that stayed cold, there was no compensation. Later another room was offered because heating in mine wasn’t working. That was a nice gesture.
Well placed for Glendalough lakes
Amazingly quiet for a youth hostel-surprising but just what I needed! Was lucky with the weather short walk to local hotel bistro and the park lakes etc.Easy to find.Twin room was fine good shower.
Clean and Comfortable
We stayed in one of the twin rooms with ensuite. While the room is quite small, it was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. The kitchen and dining facilities are very good and well stocked with crockery and cutlery. A basic breakfast is offered for a small charge. Nice little touches which we didn't expect in a youth hostel included an additional mirror in the bedroom, a light over the bathroom mirror, excellent shower, chilled water in the kitchen and friendly hosts. Best of all is the location - right next to the Monastery and about 10 minutes walk from the lower lake.
So clean with a fantastic setting! Loved it
We had a car so we could travel to other hiking regions and for other eating spots but we loved this place. Quaint, very clean, sunny, lovely. Only thing was no wifi in rooms.
Beautiful town
The people are helpful and friendly. The room was good for a family of five. The wifi didn't work in the rooms, had to go to the lobby. The building looked in need of some up keep. The bathroom was a little dirty. We still enjoyed ourselves! Would stay again, after all it is a hostel!
Good Location
It's a good hostel in a very good location. The room for 4 that we stayed in needed and needs a good cleaning, also the shower pressure was bad. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Acceptable for the rate.
It was ok .Cheap and cheerful . Just €53 between two of us for the nite . doors banging and the worst shower i have ever experienced . /but you get what you pay for i suppose . Overall it was acceptable for the rate.
Perfect location, but compromise from a hotel.
We stayed one night and shared the facility with about 75 girl and boy scouts. They pretty much owned the place which made it hard to sleep with them running up and down the halls and knocking on our door. They ran out of food for breakfast, too. Great location, but if you can afford it, I would stay elsewhere. The beds are really hard if new and really saggy if ild. We had some of each. No soap even to wash your hands in the ensuite bathroom.
Close to Glendalough
No towels, soup provided. You have to make up the bed- put the pillowcases and sheet on. No TV and only 1 very dull ceiling light. Old spring matress with a dip in the middle. Fine for 1 night if you plan on spending no time at all in room and if you don't mind lumpy bed.
Es war ein sehr schönes Hostel und sehr toll gelegen. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
perfect as youth hostel; convivial, gentle; we have seen reindeer int the garden; our daughter was so happy
Not acceptable Bedsheets mehrfach genutzt Kitchen Facilities unterster Standard
Die Lage ist super, perfekt um Wanderungen in den Wicklow Mountains zu planen. Das Frühstück lässt zu wünschen übrig. Nächstes mal würde ich dem convenience store einen Ort weiter bevorzugen.
The only Hostel in Glendalough
I had a really nice time in Glebdalough international youth hostel. Though breakfast is very expensive. For that price you‘d better go to a restaurant. But wait, there is none, no supermarket as well. So that’s what they are calculate with. But the couch area is very comfy there.
Good stay for visiting the wicklow mountains. Clean and well located

The area was beautiful and the few staff we encountered were courteous. The bunkroom we stayed in had dirty blue pillowcases, fitted sheets, and duvets. This is a shared room hostel which is a great way to meet people from around the world. The wifi was so weak we had to either sit at reception or not have access. Just like any other hostel, you rent towels and strip your own beds of the white linens you place there prior to sleep. The building wasn't well maintained and there was no sound limit enforced after a respectable time. This is a good hostel for maybe those in their 20's or older and travels regular ly. The price for 2 beds was an average rate we could have paid at another hotel but wouldn't have had the convenience to the hiking trails. Regardless, we wouldn't stay again. It was OKAY, not great, but doable. Recommend for young people or the regukar backpacker/hiker who doesn't expect regular niceties. Better than roughing it by being sheltered and having toilet/shower access. You can do laundry at €5/wash & €5/dry, so €10/load. No thanks!!!
