A gem of a hotel! Near perfect location in the charming town of cat ba and the rooms were so nice as was our breakfast

Never again!

Worst hostel yet. After check-in a blanket and pillow were thrown into my arms and I was told to go upstairs after they gave me a bed number. I wondered all around the different dorm rooms eventually finding my bed. The worst was the overall cleanliness and the breakfast, which was revolting.

Comfortable

Lovely staff. Good breakfast and a prime location. Close to all the main areas of Catba. The beds were cozy enough to get a great sleep.

Decent budget hotel

After reading the reviews here, I was expecting my worst hotel nightmare. However, the hotel and its rooms weren't as bad as expected. We booked the superior room with sea view for two nights and was given a room overlooking the harbour on the 4th floor with a balcony. The view itself was really nice and the rooms were much larger than we anticipated. The cleanliness of the room was acceptable but it is a old hotel so don't expect a brand new renovated bathroom. The bathroom shower however was not enclosed so when you had one, the water goes everywhere. The breakfast was decent with several Asian dishes and bread. The noise is a bit of a problem with guests in the hotel as well as the surrounding buildings but it usually stops at around 10pm so we didn't have too much trouble. As such, would recommend for budget travellers who aren't looking for anything lavish but don't want to stay in a hostel with shared bathroom etc.

Cheap versus inexpensive.

I was disappointed with what we got for the price. This is the first hotel room in Vietnam that didn't give us bottled water. The breakfast on the Sunday was just ok. Monday there were fewer selections as there were fewer people and Tuesday there was even less. Water was not even an option. We did have a lovely view from our room but overall, I felt disappointed with our stay.

Good location. Nice staff. Quiet room. But the bed was rock solid and gave me pains from sleeping on it.

Nice pleasant hotel on the main strip of Cat Ba. Staff are friendly and polite. View from the roof is good.

Don't bother

The hotel itself is quite dirty. I saw a rat hanging around in the halls and the staff was incredibly disrespectful and unwelcoming. You're better of staying at one of the other hotels nearby or spending a bit more for quality and comfort.

Some good, some bad

The staff were all helpful and lovely, especially the manager. The hotel is located right on the water, which affords nice views from the balcony (we got the superior room). Unfortunately, being on the water means that you are blasted with karaoke all night and, sometimes, during the day. Obviously, not the hotel's fault, but sleeping is a challenge. The room was big and the furniture was nice, but the mattress was only springs and the bathroom dingy.

Check in was quick and easy, Internet was good most of the time. The hotel is a little set back from the road so a little quieter than some. It was in a good location , convienent to several of the better restaurants in town.

Decent hotel, great location, friendly staff

Decent hotel in a great location. We booked a double room with balcony on hotels.con for a better price than offered at reception. Walls are thin so earplugs were handy when sleeping - we like to sleep in. Wi-for was not so good and it seemed the (janitor?) kept unplugging g the modem in our hallway for some reason. Beds were decent, staff was friendly. All in all, we are happy with our stay here. I'd recommend.

Cheap and close

We had a nice stay. The bathroom was quite pitiful. The air conditioner didn't work but they had fans. No the worst stay but nothing special.

Good location

Situated right on the main strip and only a two minute walk from the hydrofoil pier. Spacious room (Superior Twin), with sea views and a balcony. Only negative is the breakfast (very limited and basic) but plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Would stay again.

Old but convenient hotel

Reception was really helpful but the rooms are a bit old and worn out. Beds are uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy.

Runedown and outdated

i took superior room with balcony and sea view - and it was so basic and rundown that i cant imagine how was the other rooms. unfortunately on the island there is not much choice all is overpriced and quality is bad. this hotel is so badly build and maintained that price is not justified.

Very handy

3 minute walk from ferry, and early check-in worked for us. Tourist info challenging with language, but many other tour bookers nearby. Basically an upmarket backpackers and sea view was nice. Hot showers were a function of timing and luck. Breakfast was pathetic. Luggage stored after check-out. Town is like Riviera in the 50s. Half day cruise of Lan An Bay just perfect, and cheap too. Fun place.

Ok for 1 night

Had to ask to change room because of the noise from the generator and the 2nd one was ok but dusty. No hot water, ok wifi (but need to ask for it to be activated). Nothing great but ok for a quick night

Charming visit of the Lan Ha Bay.

Close for the principal activity we choose as take a boat and visit the Lan Ha Bay. Good restaurant. Beautiful panorama.

Out of season Visit

And it was cold - 50-60F and cloudy. The hotel provides heating in the rooms but the lobby and hallways are open to the weather. Also the bathroom is an add-on to the main building and un-heated? and the shower is open to the bathroom? Takes a while for the heat to dry out the room. Room is basic and poorly lit. Front desk was pleasant. Location was central to Cat Ba Town. Breakfast included but provided next door - fried eggs in a French baguette (my choice) and bad, cold,coffee!

Reasonable price! Great stay!

We spent one night in the hotel on our way from Ha Long Bay to Cat ba Island.I stayed for 1 night. Room was clean and spacious with window. The location was great. Just few minutes to attractions and shops are nearby. Im gonna stay again if i get opportunity to go Cat Ba.

Great Hotel for reasonable price

The manger and his staff are very friendly and kind. The room is clean and I had very comfortable and great stay there. The other guests I met are all nice. Being located in a rather remote but convenient and quiet area where there are several street restaurants and a conveniencd store, you won't have trouble finding something to eat or drink and what is best, you can get to see how local leads their daily life. I want to thank for the good time I had there and definitely recommend this hotel for everybody.

Right on the beach

Awesome staff. Huge courtyard and big impressive staircase in front. Looks very upperclass for the price. Coldest aircon of anywhere we have stayed in vietnam - fantastic. We stayed in a family room with our kids and beds were great, massive tv. Room was cleaned out and beds made up with fresh towles every day. Because we decided to stay another 3 nights after the first night they gave us a 40% discount on room rate. Such great value a great hotel. Bathroom was big. Shower was so so. Definitely recommend this one. We will stay here next time for sure

Clean hotel & great daily tour

Great service and location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offered us free upgrade when we wanted to have an early check-in in the morning, and they didn't charge any additional cost. Kong at tour department organized us a daily boat tour Lan Ha - Ha Long bay so funny. I liked it very much.

Nice hotel in great location

Great location in the heart of the Cat Ba Island. Very nice staff and the room was upgraded for free. You can pay by credit card without any charge more. Would recommend!!!

You'll regret your stay here

Our stay was awful! The hotel's website leads you to think that it's the nicest and highest rated hotel in Cat Ba, but its filthy. The bathrooms reek of sewer and we found thick black hairs on the linens and in the armoire. Our friends also stayed in the same hotel, and had a nicer room than ours that we all paid the same price for. Their room even came with a hair dryer, refrigerator that worked, and hot water kettle. Ours did not. The woman at the front desk is extremely rude. She wouldn't let our friends visit us in our room. And to make things worse, when we booked, our card was ran three times so we got charged three times. DON'T STAY HERE!

Nice hotel for the price

I wish I could give this hotel more stars since I feel it is unfair to rate a 14-18 buck hotel with the same standard for a five star one. But I guess that is how the system is supposed to work. The bottom line is: I will stay there again. Before making reservation to this hotel, I saw a lot of reviews with titles like mine. Here I am, reaching the same conclusion. TRAVEL DATE: 4/13/2015. Weather was perfect. We did not turn on A/C at all. The exchange rate was US1 to VN21,600. HOTEL: the hotel building is all solid concrete. Just a few minutes walk from the port where the speedboat arrives. The fastest way from Hanoi is to take a bus to Haiphong (VN70,000, 2 hours), taxi or walk to the ferry terminal (VN30,000), then a speed boat (VN180,000, 45 minutes to 70 minutes). The other way costs only VN220,000 to VN250,000, but takes 4.5 hours or longer and you have to change buses many times. There is a nice walkway along the bay all the way to the sandy beach which is about 15 minutes away. The "sea view" rooms had excellent view and cool ocean breeze. But the karaoke from the street can get pretty noisy. Not too bad, though. The towels are clean, but not very white. They probably never bleached them, and sun-dried them. The bathroom is a traditional type where you get the whole BA wet after taking a shower. Staff were very nice. FOOD: the breakfast is basic. I paid extra (VN30,000 for a beef noodle) to have enough while my friends had enough

Hotel have nice Cat Ba's ocean view

This hotel is cheap, worth for your money. Have no Elevator, if you are not in shape, then forget this hotel. I stayed 2 nights, my Deluxe room on 4th Floor. I walked up and down on stairway (4 times per day) Got pretty good Exercises To Lose Belly Fat....

Classy hotel for a budget price

The staff were very friendly, helpful & informative. It was lovely to be given a smile on arrival, information about where to go and what to do, plus a free upgrade. Breakfast was good, the rooms looked like the pictures and were very spacious, and the service was friendly and efficient.

Nice hotel, great location, awesome staff

The staff at this location really set it apart. They are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The location is great, in central of island. The hotel was nice and comfortable. Great free breakfast. Really can't say enough about how kind the staff was. Highly recommended.

Perfect hotel

The hotel was perfect. The room was clean, and spacious. The hotel staff were exceptional and very hospitable. The hotel it self was very clean and very well kept. The hotel location was very close to local food carts and restaurant. The breakfast was basic but nice. All in all, if I am back in Cat Ba Island, I will definitely be back here Gieng Ngoc hotel !!!!

Das Hotel ist, wie die anderen Hotels am ehemaligen Strand auch, von dem riesigen "Strandgewinn" gebeutelt, sodass praktisch alle Hotels später bestenfalls noch in der zweiten Reihe sind. Die damit verbundene Lärmbelastung wird durch die weiteren kleineren Baustellen ergänzt (die Flex am Morgen vertreibt nicht Kummer und Sorgen und die Rammelmaschine macht auch nicht glücklich). Das Frühstück ist spartanisch und ist in der Baustelle einzunehmen. Das Hotel erwartet von den Gästen, dass sie die (wahrscheinlich teueren) Aktivitäten über das Hotel buchen. Aber ohne sichtbare Preisangaben gibt es nichts zu verdienen. Jede Wasserflasche ist zu bezahlen (10 k). Das Hotel als solches hat einen recht hohen Standard und große Zimmer (vom warmen Wasser, das sehr lange braucht mal abgesehen).

Khách sạn cũ, chốt cửa kính han rỉ. Đồ đạc trong phòng có mùi ẩm mốc. Quạt hỏng công tắc quay, lúc bật được lúc không. Tủ lạnh hỏng, sáng đèn nhưng không mát. Nhà tôi không biết để sữa cho em bé qua đêm trong tủ, sáng hôm sau hỏng hết. Đáng lưu ý, khách nếu dùng đồ uống để sẵn trong tủ lạnh nên xem kỹ hạn sử dụng. Bé nhà tôi mở tủ lấy 1 lon coca uống, tôi nhìn thấy giật mình xem lại thấy đã quá hạn 2 tháng. Báo với phục vụ thì không nhận được lời xin lỗi nào, còn nghi ngờ gia đình tôi nói dối, cử người xác minh. Khi đúng rồi thì chỉ bảo "Quá hạn nên không tính tiền". Bó tay! Nói chung không chất lượng cơ sở vật chất và phục vụ không giống như hình ảnh trên web, không xứng đáng mức giá 600k/đêm mà nhà tôi đã bỏ ra.

매우 불친절. 시설 낙후..엉망

2017.3.22. 1박했습니다. 우선 카운터에 나이드신 아주머니 엄청 불친절하였습니다. 그리고 superior double or twin room sea view 예약하고 갔는데 가족(3인)이 갔을 때 추가요금 납부하라고 하여 18불 정도 추가로 납부하였습니다 그리고 방안 들어갔는데 에어컨도 안되고, tv도 안나오고 시설이 엉망이었습니다. 이방이 사용하던 방인지 의심이 들 정도 였습니다. 결국 카운터에 얘기해서 야밤에 방을 옮기는 사태까지 발생하였습니다. 조식은 입구 야외 뷔페식입니다. 이호텔은 룸에서 보이는 전망 빼곤 만족할 수 있는게 아무것도 없더군요

특별히 찾는곳 없다면 고민해결!

고급호텔이 아닌 이상 깟바에서 가장 무난한 숙소. 가격,위치,시설,서비스등. 참고로 하루 묵고 다음날 다른곳을 찾다가 스테이 원 모어~

Fantastiskt hotel med bra personal.

Hjälpsam personal och skönt läge när hamnen. Skön dusch till skillnad från många andra närliggande hotel där de klagade på varmvattnet. Mcuthyrning på hotellet för samma kostnad som alla andra men det blir enklare med nycklarna.

Ubernachtung auf Cat Ba

Das Hotel liegt un Stradnahe und ist auch sonst sehr zuganglich mit offentlichen Verkehrsmittel.Auch die Verpflegungsmoglichkeiten sind sehr gut.Ideal fur eine 2-3 tagige Ubernachtung zum die schone Insel kennenzulernen.
