Well done!!!
Best mattress I ever slept on. To be the top bunk I enjoyed the sleep.
Worked for my budget.
I liked that it wasn’t old but more modern. It has potential, but the bright color graffiti design in my room was overstimulating— just my personal preference. The room I saw online wasn’t as overstimulating as my room. 2 stars for staff. They were rude and looked unhappy to be there. Gave me attitude when I asked a question about the restaurant. When I checked in they didn’t give me much info about the hotel such as anmenities included or where things are. Just checked me in and said nothing. And the worker on the cafe was on a phone call the whole time on her cell while taking my order. The mini fridge in my room was broken. Other than that it was clean and fine. I’m just used to good customer service at hotels.
Experience was great, people from all around the world were kind and engaging. Food and drinks were also great. Staff were respectful and helpful. Will come back to this hotel in the future.
A really great hotel!
The rooms are absolutely are exquisite and beautifully appointed. The staff is friendly!
Lounge area
Very accommodating hotel with restaurants and friendly staff!
Love this place
Very helpful attentive staff
Good
The property is in a convenient location, but unfortunately, there are no metro stations nearby, which made getting around a bit more challenging. We were very surprised and disappointed to be charged an additional $80 for amenities upon arrival—this fee was never communicated beforehand. We were told it would cover things like Wi-Fi, the swimming pool, the restaurant, and laundry, but in reality, we still had to pay $3 per wash, the pool was closed, and the Wi-Fi barely worked. It felt misleading, and I believe this should be made clear upfront before booking, not at check-in. The rooms themselves felt outdated, quite dark, and had a noticeable unpleasant smell. Overall, our experience didn’t match our expectations, and sadly, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
Ok
The property sits on a quiet street a few blocks from wither 18th or U Streets. I booked a king which was two twins together, not comfortable for a couple. The room was next to the elevator but we didn't hear any noise from it which was a plus! While riding the elevator, it did squeak and rattle a bit. There is enclosed parking as well.
hostel
It would be fairer to call this exclusively a hostel vs a hotel. Simple things like getting a wash cloth are an impossibility. Some of the staff are rather curt.
Front desk staff was very helpful and nice.
The rental bicycles are in dangerously poor condition. The noise in the bedrooms, even from down the hall, is tough.
A great value for those willing to share a room with three other people
Solid location, very clean, and helpful staff. Thank you!
I enjoyed staying in and meeting people from all around the world.
It was a nice stay overall. The parking was a little confusing at first but it wasn’t too crazy once I figured it out. The service was solid. I found a hair in my bed but other than that it was relatively clean.
The property was cute and walkable to several places.
Nice security, just nice all the way around.
Great place to stayvon walking distance of dupont circle. Clean, comfortable, great coffee at the cafe!
Pricy.
Consistently clean quiet and friendly
We stayed here once before and found the room to be very clean and quiet. This was our second stay and we were happy again.
Hidden Fees and Poor Service - Stay anywhere else
stayed at the Generator Hotel in Washington, DC, and was thoroughly disappointed. From the start, the front desk staff were generally unpleasant and borderline rude, which set a poor tone for the entire stay. Be aware of a hidden facility charge that is not disclosed on third-party booking sites. The hotel refuses to refund it, so you’re stuck paying and left to seek recourse on your own. They also charge an additional fee to hold your luggage past 5 PM—something most hotels offer as a courtesy. If you check in on a Friday night and your room light isn’t working, don’t expect it to be fixed anytime soon. That was my experience, and it was clear there was little urgency or care to resolve the issue. The only redeeming qualities are the price and possibly the location (about 11 minutes from Dupont Circle), but even that isn’t worth the hassle. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.
Location was great. Hotel had extra charges that
Ok
I won't be staying there again. Firstly, neither Expedia nor the property informed us that there would be a resort fee of $56 AND a pre-authorization holding fee of $100. My partner and I are graduate students, so these extra fees threw us off. On top of that, the pictures on Expedia don't match the reality. The room is tiny and not clean. There were cobwebs in the vent in the shower, no wash rags, no cups, and the carpet and sheets were stained.
This hotel has hidden fees / charges when checking-in. Staff acknowledged that it should be included in the Expedia charge, and charged me extra fee anyway. Also the parking is more expensive than advertised, so be warned. I’ve stayed at 20 places on Expedia. This hotel has been the first to do this type of price gouging.
Hotel was great for A short stay
Great property and good location. Quiet and nice but no maids
For one night it was perfect, did not go for any of the food. We arrived late and left early. The parking garage right next the hotel was convenient, park your own (pricey) we had an event early morning so we checked out, put our bags in the car and walked to our destination. Area was very nice. The hotel does have an outdoor swimming pool (closed) and outdoor seating front of hotel
Close to other popular locations. Disappointed with the idea of sharing rooms.
Shared room with four bunkbeds and three strangers. Not bad for the price. Park8ng garages around town offer deals
Fab!!!
First time at a hostel. This was more “co-stay hotel” than “hostel.” 11/10
Surpassed all expectations!
The room was small and dark with the smallest of the night lamp on the wall, no other lights. No toiletries were provided. The front desk ppl were borderline rude.
High value
This property was nice but the pool was not open. It was advertised as being open when we booked. We chose this property because it had a pool so we were disappointed to find out the pool was not open: additionally, the toilet did not work, we had to open the top to manually flush. The ice room did not have an ice maker. It was an empty room. Overall this property did have nice seating areas in the lobby, the bed was comfortable, the staff was accommodating and check in/out was seamless.
Business trip
Simple clean room. Comfortable.
While the property was nice, there were a few issues. At check-in I was told that pare lighting in the room was terrible. Also
Stay: Female Dorms, February 23rd - March 1st Positives: - Friendly day shift front desk representatives. - 8 minute walk to Dupont Circle Metro Station - Near Embassy Row [sightseeing] Negatives: - As a female guest, terrible experience with night shift management and security. Have never had an experience like this and hope to never have again. *Issue: 2nd night of stay dorm mates had issue leading to male security guard letting himself in the room. This made me very uncomfortable and I wish they had female staff for this purpose. Out of 4 occupants, only 1 had complaints and should have just been moved and accomodated to avoid further issue given that other 3 occupants [including myself] had no issue with the other. I voiced this to night shift management. They were trying to force people to pay a room change fee instead of just moving occupants for their safety and security. Threatening to involve police over an occupant wanting to keep their private bunk light on. -Hotel asks no outside food or drinks but provides no drinks for guests. I asked if the hotel had a vending machine and employees directed me to the basement. It was empty, unplugged, and looking like there were no plans to ever stock it. No employee is aware of its status. Going to the bar, they only had alcohol and $25 fountain sodas [hose from the bar] available. Where are guests supposed to go? - Parking is $70 a night - Near Embassy Row (Visiting diginitaries lead to increase in traffic)
Exceptionally convenient in DuPont Circle. Clean and secure.
It was convenient
I’m a regular guest here. It central to public transit, walkable and good value. The staff are great!
I had an amazing time. I would stay here over and over again.
The property was very clean. However, since I booked a 4-bed room, there was a roommate snoring so loudly that it was very difficult for me to sleep.
It was great
This was a mile or so from the monuments and there was plenty of food options.
I stayed in this hotel for one night and everything was good
The bed was stinking. They denied new bed or sheet or comforter even refund.
Better lighting in the shared rooms and additional cleaning in the bathrooms
The area was clean and inviting
The staff, was really nice and extremely helpful.
Good
The rooms are dark, not enough light at all. Wifi is absolutely terrible: corporate laptops cant connect to it due to firewall (never the case with major hotel chains) and even with personal devices, when connected, the speed is awful.
Nice
Resort fees are deceptive.
I’m very disappointed by the lack of transparency on these resort fees. They should be much clearer at the point of making a decision. I find it deceptive by all parties involved.
Not a place to work
The shared mix room was ok. The bathroom is inside your dorm, which is amazing. Additionally, the bathroom was always clean, and cleaning services were available almost every day. However, the room doesn’t have so many necessary items, such as iron or hairdryer, there was no shampoo or soap. They only give you one towel per stay, and if you want another one they charge you 5usd. The coworking space was PRETTY loud! And we cannot hold a business meeting without distraction. They didn’t let me take my call in the stairs, which was the only quiet place in the building. The cafe has amazing baristas, but it is open until 2. Anyways, I would come back if I’m on vacation, but there is no way I come back there for a business trip
Great DC location. Decent amount of off-street parking. (fee, public meters) Nice, clean and vibrant.
The property was average. Our shower didn’t work properly. The room was very small. Employees were a bit sassy, no sort of politeness.
We had a problem the first night with our room due to noise from the gym, which was directly across from our room. The receptionist offered to move us to another room which turned out to be very quiet. We really appreciate her being so kind and understanding.
It was my first time experiencing a dorm type setting. Although pricewise it was great, as it was a last minute booking. However the other occupants weren't considerate. It was also weird to hear the room door being opened once almost settled in for the night. Bathrooms were dated.
Peopl are kind
Front desk guy he really don’t know how to treat a guest.
Great! Other than the hotel fee…..
False advertisement you much pay for parking 50 a night the hotel don’t even provide water to drink staff isn’t friendly and I haven’t received my deposit!
Would definitely stay here again!
This was by far, one of, if not the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Most of the front desk staff are rude and brash. Except for the older morning lady. The bar / restaurant staff are very nice and the food was good. The cafe is expensive and only has 1 size for coffee. A measly 12 oz cup for $7. This place reminds you of a European hostel, not an American hotel. I do not recommend this place at all.
Very cute and modern looking hotel.
Excellent experience
Excellent hotel location at DuPont circle Check in very friendly Excellent coffee is a Nicaragua mild toast ❤️
It was lovely and the staff was amazkng
Thanks
Receptionist did not provide towels and wasn’t very professional.
Best
NO WASH CLOTHS
I booked and paid deposit, but I found out it was not a hotel Dormitory try with the four bunked bed. But, in Expedia it advertised as Hotel. When I tried to cancel, the so called would not refund my money.
Pleasant little hotel that is well connected to DC
I choose this hotel based on its location, very conveniently located a short walk from Dupont Circle metro station. The room itself was large, with a comfortable bed & a spacious bathroom. They had a nice little cafeteria in the lobby, which sold muffins & coffee. Very convenient to get to DC & back.
Awesome place to stay!
I love staying at the at the Generator in DC. Tina is always a welcome smile! The cafe is excellent as well.
Great stay. Fun vibe. Room was great. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
Parking is easy as long as there aren't many cars. But the space in the parking lot is pretty small for inexperienced drivers.
Only vending machine didn’t work and we couldn’t buy water at 10 pm
Great stay!
Great hotel!!!
Paid parking available Only.
This property was very convenient and quiet.
The art, the amenities, the location
Expensive for the dorm type
First day there no water due to busted water line we were told, then no hot water once it was fixed. Took 3 different maintenance men to come to the room to assess the issue. We were given bottled water to be able to brush our teeth . I feel the nightly price was exceptionally high. Rooms need to updated. We asked for wash cloths and were given hand towels.
Very clean and cool experience. I used to book here when it was holiday inn.
Very Good!
clean, pleasant smell, interesting interiors (large windows and beautiful view), cafe.
Loved the place. The staffs are nice. The restaurant was definitely amazing. Will Definitely come back to this hotel if I ever visit DC again.
Had a great view of the Washington Monument and the room was very stylish.
It’s a nice, comfortable place
Should have been refunded my room 50 dollars for parking that you can’t even get into unless you have been to this building hard to. Then water was shut off at 10 pm lucky I had water bottles in my car
Good

Fun, funky spot. Not luxury, if that’s what you’re looking for. But definitely a great place. Excellent staff, delicious cafe and bar onsite. Just don’t get the room directly above the bar on a Friday night if you plan on sleeping, ha!
