Overall stay was good , kids enjoyed the pool staffs were friendly. My first experience at hotel so enjoyed it.

No hot water

The people are friendly and the room is good. I've stayed here several times. The last two times there was no hot water. It's too expensive to be taking cold showers.

Better than expected. Hotel while old is well managed and well run. Clean, great breakfast, nice bar staff very helpful and all speak English

Nothing unique about the 1bedroom apartment i stayed at. Bathroom lock were not working, no towels, i payed alot for that room and breakfast was on for 2 with no kids allowed. Service veryvpoor compared to amount of money i paid. I didn’t enjoy my accommodation. Run down apartment which needs alot of renovations.

Their was no TV remote in the deluxe room I was staying in to turn the TV on.

They didn't have my booking. We had to wait for 2 hours only to be told system not picking up the booking. Eventually, we had to pay again to secure a room. They promised to reimburse the extra payment once syterms back on upon checking out. I hope they do.

i used to be a member of the coral seas but decided against it as the hotel does not accept walk ins for members and my clients does not like to dine there as the quality of food is bad. Staff are not helpful and one has to wait a long time to be served

There was no toilet paper and only 1 bath towel for 2 guests. I called the Housekeeping 2x and it was like 90 minutes passed but my request did not arrived. I went to the Reception to follow up. My request came and was assisted by a Maintenance staff instead who was very helpful. Overall, my stay was okay. Thank you.

I usually stay at Gateway as I transit for domestic/international flights for past 15 years. I’m glad to see rooms are getting much needed renovations.

Fit only to be demolished

A terrible place. Run down, demotivated staff trying their best, the worst wi-fi I have ever encountered, watered down spirits and questionable clientele. And it was expensive. My fully equipped apartment had loads of plates, three knives, two spoons and a single glass. Water was hot only in the afternoons and the apartment pool had a viscous feel to it like I imagine those seagulls you see in oil slicks must enjoy. Avoid, Like the plague.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very good and the access to the internet was very good as well. The rooms are looking a little tired, they are now looking old. The bathrooms are small. Needed more teabags and coffee sachets. No milk, even milk powder for a drink!! Has the appearance of a flash hotel (in its day) but needs a bit of a spruce up now. Especially for the money its costs.

Despite accepting the booking, there was no room available on arrival. Receptionist was not friendly and too slow. Reported the faulty air con but was never attended to.

Staff wonderful, service, food, transportation all good. The bathroom in our room was a bathtub I’d never think of soaking in and the toilet ran all night.

I spent many good nights over the years whilst living and working in Papua New Guinea and happily dined and stayed overnight in the hotel, however this experience was one of the worst experiences I have ever had, the room was nothing short of atrocious, it was smelly, dirtiest room I have ever stayed in, outdated and I would say the whole hotel requires a massive makeover under its current management structure. Definitely not worth the money paid. The staff were brilliant, I was able to check in with ease and I was able to eat all my meals at the restaurants however when I ordered a soft drink I was told Sorry we do not have stock. Taking everything into consideration I give this place a 2 star rating and that goes to the Staff not the facilities.

Pool settings was nice but cleaners bit rude on their approach. Chasing the kids out off the pool instead of friendly reminder and explanation on pool timing

It was ok but the water pressure is low and having problem with TV connections which was fixed upon request. Louvre blade was missing[2x]. Otherwise its good for family on weekends getaway.

The Enzo's Pizza and Sizzler Restaurant connected at the front are great. It's very convenient to the airport. There was literally no hot water at all - not even slightly warm. The aircon filters and ducts need to be cleaned and the aircon was very anemic due to this. It took many hours for the room to cool enough for me to stop sweating. Never even needed a sheet coving at night since it just couldn't get cooled down enough.

When checked in the reception advised meals where free but late they charged dinner and breakfast hoping breakfast was free as most hotels have complimentary breakfast.

Gateway is a good hotel for a stopover. Had a great Pizza in the departures bar. Some of the fixtures and fittings are a bit tired but staff are friendly and will look after you

Overall, it is a good hotel, especially, the proximity to the airport is a peace of mind. The food served at the restaurant is also excellent.

Cockroaches everywhere! No milk for coffee. We had to ask for a spare towel?

Air conditioning was poor the bed smelled like it hadnt been changed. There were baby cockroaches in the room. Had to carry my own luggage up 2 flights of stairs to get to the room after having to wait 10 minutes to get checked in. Last time i will choose there to stay.

Extremely disappointed

My second time at Gateway. My first stay was excellent. This time I was thoroughly disappointed. After an extremely long day of travel 12+hrs from an outer island all I wanted was a cup of tea and a rest before going out in the evening. I made my tea and went to find no milk in the fridge. I contacted reception and requested milk then waited close to 30min, still no milk...long story short it took 1 and 1/4 hours, 5 requests and for me to literally stand and wait at reception until someone fetched some milk for me. The milk was then retrieved literally steps away from my room. I couldn’t believe it. Barely any sort of apology either. When you pay good money for a hotel room you expect much better service than this. Extremely disappointed by Gateway Hotel this visit.

I stay here around 6 mthly. Staff lovely. Alwsys remember me. Great to have several choices for a drink and for dining.

Good stay for meetings

Went for a day meeting. Landed at 8AM was in my room at 825. Appreciate the early checkin. The TV didn't have a remote so I wasn't able to watch TV. Called the front desk about it but never got it straightened. Not a big deal though as I was in meetings most of my time there. Food was good. Lunch at Enzo's was nice and dinner at Sizzler's was very good. Loved the buffet.

Okay stay, but pricey for what you get.

The apartment I stayed in for a fortnight wasn't too bad, but it smelled musty, particularly for the first week. Once I'd opened it up it wasn't too bad, but it was clearly very dated and could do with being refurbished. The staff were okay, but had to be asked a couple of times to do things. A tip, try and avoid an apartment with an adjoining door to the one next door. I had one and it was paper thin, so I could hear everything happening next door and I had a noisey family for the entire stay. On the positive side, the gym, pool, buffet and Jacksons were good.

I picked this randomly from Hotels.com and it turned out to be excellent! Great location close to the airport, excellent security, good swimming pool, four places to eat and two bars in the complex. The staff were very polite and helpful, I would definitely stay there again!

Aircon didn't work well ,bedsheets had blood stains

Gateway Hotel has 3 main restaurants one on the ground floor of Jacksons bar with a bar up on the top deck great views over the International airport Sizzlers which has replaced the old Rattle and Hum bar and just up from reception the restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner ...two smaller snack / coffee eateries Enzo next door to Sizzlers and coffee and snacks in the departure lounge ...the food is just superb in all of these eateries and prices are good when you convert back into NZ dollar ..the rooms are well presented and clean ( only thing missing from mine was a laundry bag ) but coffee making ...ironing board all in room TV had several channels ..aircon could create the 3rd ice age in your room if left on to long but temperature was adjustable ...great pool ..conference facilities available 2 on site shops for sim cards news papers etc

Good location staff very helpful and friendly But some problems with shower water keeps changing from very hot to very cold without touching the tap
