Hospitality, culture and comfort in one!
I felt like our stay at Gallery Nozawa Inn was one of the highlights of our trip! We came and left the bags in the late morning and came back in the evening to an unexpected dinner with both the hosts and the other guests. It felt like we had gathered a family, and that feeling of union was present even though we had just met. Everything was so delicious and the owners really seamed to enjoy our presence and didn't hesitate to answer all the questions that came along. I actually thought that sleeping in the futon was comfortable, and to have sink and toilet in the room is very practical (and the bathroom seemed brand new!!!). We could also drink some tea and have some salty "crackers" at night - super cosy! It was so welcoming and it warms my heart when I revive those memories! Thank you again to the owners, we will never forget this experience at your house, I hope that we come back one day! P.S. Hoping you have a wonderful stay in Portugal like you deserve!
Great place! It’s small (two rooms) so if it’s available just book it. It’s a traditional ryokan so be prepared for a cozy place, sleeping on mattresses on the floor, and to take your shoes off. Breakfast is amazing and every evening we arrived back to tea and cake. The area is quiet but if you have the JR Rail pass you can use the local train and be in Kyoto station in 5 minutes. Also recommend cycling around Kyoto!
The property was similar to a bed and breakfast arrangement, but with a traditional Japanese approach. Shoji doors, tatami flooring, small outdoor garden were very pleasing to take in. The proprietors (Mario and Yoshiko) were wonderful hosts. Mario's English was very good and offered great recommendations for area sites. He also drove us to one site quite a distance from their property and drove us to the train station on our last morning (no charge)! That was wonderful. Mario offered his bicycle to me to ride the neighborhood. I preferred walking the neat/clean/safe neighborhood, including short walks to two very nice temples and local restaurants (okonomiyaki and yakitori)!
Gallery Nozawa Inn is more than a ryokan -- it is a real Japanese home with two cordial people taking care of it and of its guests. If you want to experience traditional Japan, this is where you want to be. The house is around a 100 years old with authentic elements, lots of wood, sliding doors, and traditional Japanese rooms with tatami mats. At the same time, it has great modern elements, such as modern private toilets. The bath/shower is shared but there are only two guest rooms in the house, so will not really notice it. Breakfasts are delicious. I highly recommend staying at Gallery Nozawa Inn!
We found the owners to be very welcoming and kind. They went out of their way to help us feel comfortable and offer assistance. The breakfast was excellent and served to accommodate our travel plans. We really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.
Amazing. Traditional inn with modern amenities. Toilet and sink in room and ofuro bath share. Only 2 rooms upstairs. Large and light. Family run, kind & very helpful. Location great. 30 minute walk from station through temple grounds. It is in the old entertainment district from 1600s. Older than Gion. Very few tourists. Lots of old buildings and temples. Breakfast was fantastic, Japanese style. Wife is great cook. Mr Yamada speaks English and willingly assists with advice. Highly recommended.
Incredible
Absolutely amazing place to stay. Very authentic to experience a true Japanese stay from the room to the breakfast provided in the morning by the wonderful owners. The couple were lovely and kind. Enough English to get by and nothing but incredibly nice. Highly highly highly recommend
This is a small family owned inn that provided a great ryokan experience. The rooms were clean and I was provided with all the standard amenities. The owner provided me with a map of nearby restaurants and places to visit. I was given a delicious breakfast, and the owner was even kind enough to drive me to the station on the checkout day.
Local friendlyness
Amazing and friendly family. If you want the true local feeling, this place is worth a visit.
Great little inn in Kyoto.
Very large and comfortable traditional Japanese room. Excellent Japanese-style breakfasts. The family who runs the inn were very knowledgeable and helpful with touring Kyoto.
Recommended!!!
Me and my friends stayed here with this lovley family. They are really warm, friendly and helpfull. The ryokan is a beutifull building in a quite neighberhood close to all the good spots i Kyoto. This place has my biggest recommendation!

지리적 위치라든지 숙소 상태라든지 걍 다 좋았습니다. 그리고 자전거 무료대여가 생각보다 너무 좋있습니다.
