Nice spot, cool room, friendly and helpful staff.

A very nice stay. No coffee in the room..... could be just a Spain thing. No Coffee for guests.... had to walk a few blocks after a cafe was open.

Friendly staff. Convenient location.

This is an adult only & single occupancy accommodations. High security, felt very safe, I did not find any way to control room temperature & I was given a street level window partial basement room. I went back to desk & requested a room on a higher floor as I needed to be able to sleep with window open for fresh air. They complied with request. There are no telephones in the room, if you need wakeup call they come and knock on the door which did not wake me. They also called a taxi for me who was gracious to wait for me. Quick 15min ride to airport.

You have zero control of the air conditioning. They shouldn’t be allowed to advertise AC.

Maybe the name was the clue "Academic" but not for solo traveler no restaurant facilities, it was more upmarket hostel for young people

The rooms were very basic and compact - as expected for Student accommodation - but perfect for anyone who is just using the hotel to sleep. The rooms, and hotel in general, use Geothermal to regulate the temperature, so there isn't individual Air Conditioning units, so anyone who likes to sleep in a very cold room wouldn't be able to. The beds are lowered from the ceiling at night, but raised during the day to allow access to a table and 2-seater sofa. The bathroom, again, is compact space with shower, but is more than adequate, though the provided toiletries are small sachets, enough for one, maybe two showers The staff were very helpful, and happily provided towels for the swimming pool, as well as paddles/balls for the table tennis table One downside was that there wasn't a fridge in the room, but the floor was cold enough to cool bottles of water. It wouldn't be possible to keep anything that has to be chilled though The area around the hotel was mainly residential, so had small local shops and restaurants, though larger shops and restaurants were within 10-15minutes walk. There was a Metro station within 5minutes walk with a direct line to the city centre as well as a large shopping mall in the opposite direction All in all, we were very happy with the hotel, and would definitely use again

Fue terrible. El cuarto no tenia aire acondicionado y hacia mucho calor ya que fue el 13 de junio. Nos dijeron que el hotel usaba geotermia pero la verdad nunca funciono el aire y pasamos la peor noche de todo nuestro viaje

This is a place for kid's under 12 years of age.. Extremely small and uncomfortable to move specially the bathroom.. If you are over 20 years of age and weight more than 50 kilo (110) pounds, please forget this place.. Scary bed..

Overall, we were happy with our stay. Only Complaint is the pillows were so uncomfortable - one was bigger and hard, the other was so thin. The room has no amenities.

This is a well kept and overall great hotel, it’s pretty cool that they have a bed that comes down from the ceiling buuuut it was a twin bed (I asked for a double) and it was uncomfortable sharing with my sister. Nice rooftop pool, close to transit and markets and food choices but the one reason I wanted to stay here was for laundry but it’s only available to the students residing at this academic hotel. I was able to find a laundromat nearby though so it wasn’t too bad. There was a nice balcony too.

The rooms were very small and clean, but had tons of storage and the lowering beds are very fun to my mind. Great shower, excellent staff overall this is a very economical super place.

The accommodation is very good value for money and staff were helpful and friendly. The area is not for everyone as you need the nearby Metro to head into the very centre although it's not far from the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, two metro lines and El Corte Ingles down Calle Oresne. Worked very well for me.

bed is not very comfortable, synthetic pillows that gets very hot and the noise levels are too high. otherwise okay stay!

This hotel offers terrific value for the cost. There's a grocery store close by, very good shopping within a 20 minute walk and easy access to the Metro and bus. There isn't an air conditioner or mini-fridge in the room (if it's hot out that matters) and it a student residence. Comfortable and simple. The front desk help was friendly, professional, and super helpful - especially Lazlo who went out of his way to look after me and find an extra night in the hotel when I needed it. Top notch service all round!

The property serves as a hotel and student residence. It is a 4-5 minute walk to Tetuan metro station. Some areas are for students only. It has a pool and solarium that can be used by all guests and it has a cafeteria that serves continental breakfasts for €10 fron 7:00am to 9:30am. The selection is not great but at least you can have a breakfast with eggs since Spaniards have very light breakfasts. The whole facility was very clean, including the rooms. The rooms are small but confortable and serves the purpose of having a good night sleep. The staff was very friendlyOverall, I would stay in the place if I go to Madrid again.

If, like me, you are going to spend most of your day sightseeing and just need somewhere to shower and sleep, I cannot recommend Funway highly enough. It might be 'student' accomodation, but it is cleaner than probably most 2 or 3 star hotels in the city and has everything you need..It is quite far from the centre, so you will need to take the Metro from Tetuan but a 10 travel pass is only 15euros and well worth it. Metro ride takes 10 minutes. Yes, the bed comes down from the ceiling which is super cool and gives you space BUT it's also one of the most comfortable hotel beds Ive slept in (and I travel alot..) The shower is excellent and the room is cleaned everyday. The rest of the accomodation (games room, library etc) is very cool. I didnt try the breakfast but there are a couple of choices or a cafe just across the road. Next time I am in Madrid, I wont hesitate to stay there again! Thank you Funway Team!

This was the most unique experience I've ever had in a hotel..in a good way. The beds and space saving layout took a bit of getting used to but I'd stay here again just for the fact that it was different. Good location too.

The room was not bad. Had everything you'd need - bathroom, good wifi, comfortable bed etc. The problem was the noise, both from the other guests and the street. The design of the hotel does not help as it has slam-type fire doors, so every time someone comes in or out of the building the door slams shut. As my room was directly opposite the main door then this was a problem. The room was hot so the window needed to be open and as I was on the ground floor noise from the street was loud. But earplugs sorted that out and rooms higher up in the building (and further down the corridor) would not suffer from the same problem.

Second visit!

Second time i have stayed here and they remembered me from my first visit, which was really nice. Clean hotel competitively priced, in a great location. Used the pool several times and really like the hotel and it's staff.

New room experience

I loved this hotel. It was a new experience for me. The room was small but very well planned, I felt at home all the time. Staff was very friendly and the food in the cafeteria was delicious.

Great for the price.

It is basically a student house. The room is spotless (almost) and the bed is in the ceiling and comes down at a press of a button. Took some getting used to but is very comfortable. There is no fridge or tea making facility. It would help to have a bedside table at the height of the bed. Also a plug for charging phone at the level of the bed. The wall point is too far when you are in bed to be able to use your phone whilst charging. Only Spanish channels on the TV. BBC World had no signal. Whilst I enjoyed my stay and the staff were excellent there was no information in the room on how the hotel works. Breakfast was in a canteen setting and ok but that too was difficult to navigate as kitchen staff did not serial English and there was no explanation as to the choices. I asked for boiled eggs but got scrambled eggs instead. Which was ok but they could make it easier by having a menu of choices. The yard is nice and quiet. I recommend this hotel as it makes for a peaceful stay and it is good value. But they could make it easier for the guest. Everything is guess work unless you keep going to the reception and ask the staff who are very welcoming and helpful. The area is nice and feels safe and transport is nearby. Take your own toiletries as the ones supplies are minimal... Shower gel in a tiny sachet with barely enough to have one shower. What if on a hot day you need to shower twice in a day? 8/10 for the room. 10/10 for friendly staff. 5/10 for amenities.

Nice and relaxing find!

This hotel was recommended by the group I was volunteering with and I am so glad it was! I was unsure about it at first as I saw the rooms were small and the bed came down from the ceiling. However, I decided to book it anyway and I was surprised by how comfortable and nice the room was. The room was more than enough room for me and it had everything I needed. The bathroom was clean and modern. The TV was a good size and the desk area had tons of space for my items and for plugging in my phone and laptop. And the bed was super comfy and made relaxing easy. Also, I loved that the windows had a way to be closed. Unfortunately the couch underneath the bed was not the most comfortable. The staff at the resort were very nice and there are lots of ways to relax outside of your room. They have a few lounges and a large kitchen to keep and cook food. Around the resort is tons of shopping, restaurants, and places to grab a quick bite. I definitely will return!

Bit unusual - an upmarket student hostel

An upmarket student hostel. Room was small but clean and bed comes down from the ceiling! Good location, lots of nice outdoor areas and generally pretty quiet. Not a typical hotel and the lack of tea/coffee making facilities was a bit disappointing, but otherwise a good option.

This is academic accommodation not impressed

Very disappointed that this is advertised on Expedia etc. It is basically full of students and didn't find out till I did further reviews. It does not have the facilities of a hotel, with a student canteen supposedly covering for a restaurant in other hotels. The bed coming down from the ceiling was quirky, but basically that is because the rooms are so small. Was woken up regularly early as students left etc. Seriously whilst I am sure it has a place in accommodation for Madrid, if you are looking at hotels in another country, you would not have expected to find this. Pool was closed due to heating problems Staff were ok, though the cleaners were more friendly

Lovely location

This is a wonderful deal. Great place, very clean and very kind staff. The location is close to the airport using subways (Lines : 8,9,1). The hotel is 200 m from Tetuan metro station line 1, which also can be used to go to Sol metro station where you visit other places ( Plaza Mayor, Placio, plaza espana......)

Nice budget hotel

Nice hotel with friendly staff and varying facilities including a large communal kitchen, cafeteria, break-out spaces and a fantastic roof terrace with pool. The double room (with bathroom) was basic and very compact yet clean and the location was 5-10 min walk from the station (Tetuán) with a direct line to Gran Via in 25 mins and the local area was quiet yet amiable with coffee shops, supermarket and some restaurants all very nearby.

Good location and price, bed could be comfier

Nice area, close to two local metro lines that take 30 minutes to get into city centre. Bed isn't massively comfortable though!

Europe stop over

Was shown into the room, by the receptionist, asked where is the bed? It was up above us! It came down by pressing a button. Bed just a double, room tiny. No fridge, small sofa, toilet butts up against the shower. Should have checked it out more on the web site. Pool was refreshing, but on a hot day, steamy with the roof over it. Laundry facilities only available to the residents, so had to pay EU$15 to have it sent out. Only available to 18 years and over, some younger residents choose to sit in the courtyard late at night and talk, eat, drink, voices carry!!

Wrong information over the phone

My stay was really good, only downside was i was told one thing over the phone and another when i got there, however the sfaff managed to sort us out with another room, it did cost a little more which i wasn't too pleased with

room two snall

The hotel room is too small, there's no room service at least I didn't see it. And the first day we arrived. there wasn't hot water . for one one night is good otherwise I wouldn't stay there. thw only positive side is the location.

Double room, really..?

Check in was tough. The two ladies had a hard time servicing the guests. The younger lady wanted me to pay for the stay again when I told her to give a glimpse at her paper to realize I have already paid for the room. The hotel is nice, the room is okay as well. Just prepare the bed is not for the people unless you are a couple that loves to get into each other the whole night. It is not good that they offer these rooms for two people. Convenient location if you want to come home from a real madrid game late night by foot.

Not a hotel! It is a residence for students, as such they do not have laundry service or access to gym for people booking a stay. Room is small but clean. Bed hoists down from the ceiling, takes up whole room when down. Staff was very friendly and helpful however, no maps for turists

Original por el tipo de habitación con la cama en el techo y había que bajarla, así se disponía de espacio.

He estado una sola noche , me tocó una habitación que es más baja que la calle y por tanto no pude abrir las ventanas y tuve que tener las persianas echadas, para que no me.vieren desde la calle . Esto no me ha gustado porque sinson más días me hubiese agobiado y sobre todo en verano .

Queridos futuros visitantes, os aviso de antemano que sino queréis experimentar una caída libre desde el techo no tengáis sexo salvaje en este tipo de camas, la nuestra no aguantó.

Concept innovant

Hôtel très propre et situé pas loin du métro tetuán. Concept innovant avec canapé et bureau, et lit grand lit de eux places descend électriquement du plafond pour se stopper a la hauteur du haut du canapé. On y accède par un petit escalier latéral. J'y retournerai certainement.

La atención del personal fue muy buena, la limpieza y las instalaciones también. No hay demasiado ruido, a pesar de ser una residencia de estudiantes. La zona es muy tranquila. Muy recomendable.

Das Hotel liegt in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße. Ich hatte ein Zimmer, zuerst im Erdgeschoss zum Innenhof und nach Nachfrage, da es doch recht dunkel war, bekam ich ein Zimmer im zweiten Stock. Die Zimmer sind eigentlich sehr schön etwas ungewohnt. Ist das Bett das sich nach unten absenkt. Das WLAN funktioniert gut, wenn nicht so viele eingeloggt sind. Sind viele eingeloggt ist es etwas träge und zum streamen nicht geeignet. Der Pool auf dem Dach ist sehr flach maximal 1 m tief zum Schwimmen ist es etwas schwierig geeignet aber es geht zur Not. Die Liegen sollten dringend erneuert werden. Viele sind defekt. Frühstück wurde mir nicht angeboten. Es gibt aber in der Umgebung viele Cafés oder Restaurants. Das Hotel ist eher für junge Leute gemacht, was auch die Belegung darstellte. Leider war es nachts oftmals laut, da halt junge Leute Jung sind und die Nacht oftmals zum Tage machen. Mit Ohropax ging es aber.

If I go back to Madrid, this will be my first choice.
