Staff was accommodating and renovations were nicely done but resulted in lipstick on a pig. The property is just too old and it shows. Rooms are tiny, no phones to reach the front desk and paper thin walls result in a sub-par experience.
The hotel was very small and squished, but the staff was nice! The area around the hotel felt very unsafe, but the overall stay was fine.
It was ok.
The room was so tiny kinda felt like a motel stay. Didn’t feel warm and comforting like the photos showed. Heard people at all times of hours.
Fine
The room was very noisy and cold.
They lie when they caim to have a fan or ac in room. Ours was broken as were units for several other guests. They told me they would fix it during stay but did not. Only offered a portable fan 3rd night os stay. Based on reviews seems to be a property wide problem and they are refusing to invest in basic maintenance. Horrible sleep in tiny stuffy room
Reasonable youth hotel in core downtown location. Close to public transportation and easy access to major tourist sites. The nearby area is not safe after dark.
Heating and room vent system was questionable, otherwise ok stay, mini cafe was a plus
This hotel is really perfect I love it
Good hotel
I slept well and good hotel to stay for one night
room is very small
Hostel vibes
There always seemed to be a congregation of people outside the front doors of the hotel. It made it feel sketchy and a little unsafe to get into the hotel. My room faced an alley/roof, so that it made it seem like someone could sneak into my window if they wanted to. There was a club next-door that was loud and you could hear it throughout the hotel, but thankfully once I was in my room it was fairly quiet. There was a little trouble initially with the thermostat when I first checked in but they eventually sent someone up and we got it figured out.
Loved the free coffee!
The experience was good overall. Enjoyed the free coffee machine and common sitting/working area, clean room and bathroom, view was fine. One bummer was the all day protests at nearby hotel chain but that’s not Found’s fault.
The room I stayed in was so cute and very clean! I got to stay here for 3 days with my best friend and we loved our stay. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and respectful and there were no problems whatsoever throughout our stay here. I can definitely recommend this place to anyone who is traveling with a friend or solo.
You could spend a lot more to stay at the St. Francis nearby, but the MBAs who run Westin have reduced it to nothing more than a Motel 6 in terms of quality or amenities. Instead, stay at Found: quiet, well run, clean, comfortable, and convenient. You will like the friendly staff, the cozy and tasteful decor, and the money you save.
We loved our stay at the FOUND hotel! The rooms are small with hostel-style bunk beds; this was fine as we didn't really spend much time in the room anyway. Common areas include a small kitchen with a coffee/chocolate machine, a lounge for sitting, and some desk space for working. The location is great, a few blocks from Union Square, with a lot of transportation nearby (BART, Muni, cable cars). The Vietnamese restaurant next door (Bodega) is phenomenal. The hotel sits right at the edge of the Union Square district, so going east is very touristy, while going west (into the Tenderloin district) is a little sketchy. Overall a great experience if what you want is mostly a safe and convenient place to sleep.
I like this small hotel but unfortunately the surrounding area is dirty and occupied by some terrible homeless people.
Great time. Just space is really small and would have liked a chair or two.
Quiet, clean, comfortable, friendly staff. An unassuming gem of an hotel.
Great location and affordable place in SF
Great, affordable hotel with good room options. We wanted more than two beds and they had some with multiple bunk beds. The room is cozy and not a lot of extra space, but worked well for a bed and bathroom. The lounge area is also nice with some couches, tables, and a coffee machine. Location was great, too.
The hotel itself and the location were great however the sound proofing of the room was horrible. There was loud music being played all night on both of the nights we stayed there. They even provide a white noise machine and ear plugs but they barely drowned the noise out. It sounded as if people were rehearsing or recording music within the building. If you are a light sleeper I would not recommend. Everything else was fine.
This hostel was quite and very clean.
Fire alarm came on when taking shower. Not all rooms have heat.
Price was great given the perfect location
I see why 8/10 reviews are very positive and 2/10 are the exact opposite after staying here. The hotel and staff are great, but depending on room location it can be incredibly noisy late into the night. Unfortunately I had one of those front facing rooms and the sleep situation could have been better with people blasting music until 2 am. Otherwise quite enjoyed my stay here, staff was great, coffee was appreciated and location was ten out of ten.
Great staff!
The mishandling of information regarding the deposit. Their machine would not accept my Credit Card so I had to use My bank card which meant cash out of pocket ( 300$USD) then upon my checkout they did not immediately refund my bank card instead told me it will take 3-10 days to get my funds back. I was very upset with that. It left me scrambling as I was told by a different staff member I would be refunded the day of my check out. That was a lie . I would not recommend this place to stay
Staff was very friendly and the place was nice and clean . Don’t let the outside fool you cause this place is very nice . Bed was comfortable and the shower was nice .
Overall, it was a good place to stay. Convenient location. The room and bathroom were quite nice, and staff were friendly. The hotel is pretty accessible - there is a small step to get into the shower and no grab bars. So things to keep in mind for disabled/older folks. My only complaint is that air conditioning is listed on the Expedia site, but there is actually no air conditioning in the rooms, only heat. It ended up being okay because I was able to open my rooms window to let cool air in, but had it not been November and cool, the room would have been too hot for me.
All of the staff was great but Kenricka was absolutely amazing and gave us the best restaurant recommendations. Will definitely book this hotel for future stays!
Excellent stay
The staff was super friendly and helpful. We stayed 5 days. Location was perfect for everything that we wanted to see. The hotel overall was in great shape and clean. The room was small with only a wardrobe bar to hang a few clothes. Got clean clothes from suitcases every morning. However it was very clean. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was newly remodeled.
coffee bar open kitchen
Just noisy outside the building all the rest perfect … I will come back again
Tiny room but clean and tidy, and well decorated. Missing some basic stuff like a glass.
Accessible on everything you need.
Loved the bunk beds! Very convenient located. Extremely walkable.
The neighborhood is unsafe. I had to wait outside on the road for 30 mins at midnight knocking the door for someone to come to the reception and let me in. The walls are so thin i felt as if the neighbors were in my room and they were talking loudly until 4 am, inspite on me knocking on the wall and asking them to be quiter. Horrible experience overall.
I had some initial concerns about the safety of the location and potential harassment from homeless individuals, as several reviews painted a worrisome picture. However, my experience at this hotel was completely different. I never felt unsafe, and I encountered no harassment from homeless people in the vicinity of the hotel. While there were some homeless individuals on a nearby street, I avoided that area and used Uber for transportation from the front entrance without any issues. The hotel itself was clean and modern, with updated facilities. The front desk was staffed at all hours, which added to the sense of security. The elevator was quick, and my room exceeded my expectations in terms of size and cleanliness. Housekeeping was thorough, providing fresh towels and restocking toilet paper daily. The room was very modern and well-insulated from outside noise. The air conditioning in my room worked perfectly, ensuring a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit. Additionally, the hotel's location was excellent, with most attractions just a 10-13 minute Uber drive. I would definitely stay here again.
Great location for access to the City and tourist attractions. It does the job at a relatively good price. San Francisco city centre is the issue, not the hotel.
super clean and secured, but very reasonably priced! Staff was always available and was very helpful! Will return to stay here next time i visit SF. Thank you so much!!!
A great value, room was minimal but spacious, well decorated, and well laid out; large bathroom as well! Had stayed at Found Nob Hill a few weeks prior and the check in agent/manager(?) instantly remembered me(so sweet, sry can't remember her name!). For the price, you honestly can't find a better deal in SF! Highly recommended for the discerning value based traveler. Only downside is that they have a Roku TV in the rooms but no actual cable TV.
Took my 12 year old to SF for a concert, it was her first time here. The hotel itself was nice and you had to use a code to come and go. So once in the hotel if felt safe. We were supposed go have bunk beds but we were given 1 queen bed. So that sucked, i dont raise a stink about it, because my receipt said queen bed. My daughter and I made do. The A/C and heater worked great, the bathroom was great. The place was small but expected. You could also log into all your apps and it logged you out at check out. Having access to the coffee machine was great. I was stressed out. Not sure if id stay there again. But that has nothing to do with the hotel itself. The only way i can describe it and my daughter agrees, is that San Francisco itself is stressed out and full of anxiety. I miss the city i used to explore. We had a protest full of sirens and drums our entire stay outside at the hilton. The cities stress not the hotels fault. If your in town for bussiness. This is a great place. Just stay in ubers, and blend in.
Staff was so kind and helpful.
It was a sweet little hotel! The bunk bed rooms don’t have windows that go outside which I wish I knew about before hand. But otherwise great for the price, clean rooms, and very friendly staff!
amazing
Clean and comfy~
It was okay
You can hear everything the guests are doing upstairs. The bedding wasn’t change completely because there was a hair. The rooms don’t have phones so you can’t call if you need something. Front desk staff was nice and all but it was an okay stay.
When I booked read reviews about the area. I have been to San Francisco many times some areas are a little ruff just have to always be aware of your surroundings. Doors are locked all the time need a code to get in. Affordable hotel will stay there again next time
Had a really nice time here room are small it's like a tiny bedroom with a bathroom but it works well if you are traveling alone or with a partner. AC in our room wasn't working and they couldn't get it fix throughout the fix. Still enjoyed the stay
No frills hotel, would have been OK but the AC in my room did not work and SF was experiencing a heat wave. Staff didn't seem to think no AC was that big of a problem, said it would be taken care of and never was. Giving me a fan was their solution.
Could Be Better
I was in one room where it was pleasant. They put me in another room and the thermostat doesn't work. Other than that, it's okay.
Great stay except for very limited air conditioning. Comfortable, clean rooms, friendly staff.
When I arrived the heater/ac was not working. They accommodated by placing us in a new room. Not many amenities and staff hard to get ahold of when in need of towels or anything. Also room service did not clean our room
Convenience because of location.
Upon arrival everything seemed great they were a little behind cleaning the rooms that was okay. Once I got to my room it was extremely hot with no airflow. I messed with the AC and it didn’t work. I went downstairs to inquire about the AC and was told oh yeah it’s been messed up we can get you a fan. The fan honestly didn’t help and I couldn’t change rooms. With no other last minute options we were forced to stay in a hot room.
The front desk staff was my favorite thing about my stay!!! So nice, young and helpful.
The amelcoche in the room
Staff was very nice and welcoming and our room was super nice.
Okay for on a budget. Very very dirty with god knows what on the walls / floors in the rooms. Location great for union square but avoid going out at night time.
It’s an old building but the rooms are renovated quite nicely. Bed linens were hotel quality. The coffee and ice machine in the common area was nice to have. During my stay, there was a heat wave and my room’s AC broke down. Wish we got compensated but we were only provided a fan. The restaurant downstairs/next door caused the fire alarm to go off at 7am, the fire trucks came and we all had to evacuate onto the street, about a 25min ordeal… that’s downtown for you. Overall a decent place for shower sleep if you’re gonna be out all day to explore the city.
Very Good valué, it was clean and was very well located, near public transportation and good restaurants.
Definitely a nice stay. Located in a very convenient area walkable to everything. Not the safest area for night life but still very fun! Nice cozy cute room with exactly what you need.
Decent sized room, close to Union Square. Was pretty quiet overall. Room did not have a working TV or AC. Shower was updated. No usable lobby space. Lobby area filled with hotel supplies and checked luggage. Very unfriendly staff. Extremely overpriced at my time of stay. Would not stay here again or recommend it. Better options elsewhere
The room is clean and comfortable
Staff are great.
Great stay!!
We loved this property!
Good place to stay if you plan on just being out all day and laying your head to rest only as there is limited space in rooms esp if you are sharing. They give you bunk beds to make it seem the room is bigger but for the price you pay it’s a good deal. Staff all friendly and I liked the tea/coffee room.
Courteous staff
It was great!!
It was a great experience, we stayed there for couple nights. Staff was helpful and accommodating, they held our suitcases while our room was getting ready. Small room not much space but clean and convenient. You get what you pay for.
The location of the hotel is nice as you can get around decently well. But the rooms are extremely small.
Nice and clean hotel in a very central area, very close to main Muni and Bart stops. Staff is very friendly and welcoming! Room was a bit small but very clean, bathroom was very clean and cozy. Some noises at night (as you would expect, being a busy hotel in a very central area) but overall we had a very good sleep, the mattress was very comfy! We'll stay at Found hotel again for sure next time we'll visit San Francisco!
Lovely staff and affordable but in a bad location with very few amenities.
Clean . Slightly understaffed. Indian Lady that I could’t understand. Took 3 days to fix comunal coffee machine. I ended up fixing it. They debited my card $ 300 upon arrival. Still to receive refund. Great location. Had to request a refrigerator. Coffee station not well kept.
To many homeless.
Loved it with the exception of no parking. But it was feasible.
Would stay here again
The hotel is situated right in Union square, where a couple blocks down you can catch the trolley. Good food spots. There are some streets you have to be careful. There are some unpleasant smells in some streets. The hotel is great, cute and the room is small. Small enough where you have to ask for an iron and a board, which they are happy to provide. There isn’t a lot of space around the bed, so pack smart! There is coffee and tea on the 2nd floor, but my recommendation for the hotel is to step up their coffee game. The cappuccino machine Is not great, and provide creamer, please! There are coffee places but it’s a little inconvenient to get up and get ready too buy coffee to wake you!! The beds are by far the most comfortable compared to other popular hotels!! Kudos Found!! Overall I was comfortable, there was some noise outside but I got used to it. I will stay here again. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Easy walk to shopping, food, and transportation. Staff was great and very accommodating. Room was small but comfortable and the bed was very cozy.
The room is so tiny, it doesn’t have room for my kids to play while we’re in the room also we’re not used to the bunk beds my kids keep hitting their head to the bed frame all night long , otherwise I like this hotel for the cleanness and the convenience of public transportation close by and walking to Chinatown and Union square shop, over all and if I have a chance I’ll come back to book this hotel again.
I could not sleep and move on the bed because the room was creepy and frightening. I changed my hotel the next day, but I could not get refund.
This hotel room is high quality for the cost a night. The room is small, clean, and has the essentials. It’s located close enough to walk down market street for any needs. One thing to consider is there was a lot of homeless around the neighborhood at night and catcalling men if you’re out walking back alone.
Kenrick was extremely kind and enjoyable to speak with! The hotel is cute and clean, the location was decent,
I like how big and spacious the bathroom and shower was
The staff was amazing, they made sure that I felt comfortable and had everything that I needed. The location is central in town and accessible to public transport. I would choose to come back.
Stood here for three days for pride 2024 ,front desk manager is amazing ,all the workers were nice ,they even had mini pride flags for there guest for the parade ,10 out of 10 ,dispite how much is going on outside it was still quiet in the hotel, they have a kitchen with coffee
Don’t get switched!
I reserved a room with twin beds but got a room with bunk beds. This was especially difficult for taller people and for my elderly father. Make sure you don’t get switched!
Nice basic place
Great hidden gem! So close to BART and staff fantastic!!!
Beds were very comfortable. Room was a little smaller than what I had anticipated, For 3 adults, this room that was meant to be for 4, had very little room for our baggage. But the staff were friendly and the location was great. The amenities in the hotel were also comfortable and encouraging to spend time out of our room anyway :)
Convenient spot
Great hotel for the price.
The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms however were quite dusty and there wasn't enough space for all our luggage. There was no space in the room to hang out but the common lounge area was useful. There was some initial issues with communication. i tried to contact the hotel via online chat as i could not find a phone number to call, the chat takes up to 24 hours to return a message. I kept receiving emails asking me to complete an online registration to receive my check in details but there was no online registration. You simply turn up and they check you in. There were many reviews about the neighbourhood being unsafe and commenting on the number of homeless in the area. while yes you may see a few here and there they did not harass us at all and this is completely out of the hotels control.
The place is very good on its own, but the area is not safe, especially at night. I saw people with mental illness and screaming randomly. I would not come back again unfortunately but if you are not picky about safety it’s fine. Just make sure to avoid going out at night.
Lots to report here… they are seemingly having an issue with 3rd party reservations (like Expedia) being ported over to new management so check-in was a slow and painful process- 40 mins and they claimed we hadn’t paid at first when we had. Many issues checking in early (which we appreciated!) but could not get the door codes to work for the first hour or two. When we finally got to our room, it didn’t have a functional bathroom door, so we then had to request a new room (as I was rooming with a friend). Water in the common area kept running out, they did not have refrigerators in the room as listed, and did not have a hair dryer in the room (did not realize until my hair had almost air dried). When we notified staff of issues, some team members were very new and confused on how to resolve (or just apologized and did not try to), others were really helpful. In any case, it did take a long time for any issues to be resolved. Hotel is not in the best area but the street itself is safer than surrounding streets, we had no issues walking around and it is actually quite centrally located which we enjoyed. Too many issues to overlook- will not stay here again.
Amazing hotel
Really small
