Not as advertized
Room not as advertized at all. Very small, no table to put your Cpap machine. Had to put it on the bed next to me. Outlets are hard to reach and not that many. Floor not even. Definitely not worth what i paid for the stay. Was very difficult to get check in information and required numerous phone calls. Very frustrating and not worth the price.
This is a really convenient location to the Capitol area and restaurants in Dupont Circle. It is compact, but even so, I would have liked the shower curtain to not cling to me. There were some cleanliness issues that I notified the property managers of, and they immediately asked to remedy. Am alarm also went off at 6:15 AM and continued until after I left at 7:00 AM. I notified the managers and it was remedied before I returned that evening.
Great!
Overall this was a great experience, good place to stay, and would stay there again. There were some small cleanliness oversights in the room like crumbs on one end table. The lobby and hallway were also not dirty, but untidy. This stay was at an unstaffed location, but made me wonder when it had been serviced. On a Sunday night, the only trash can in the lobby was overflowing, and one of the few conveniences in the lobby, a small coffee machine, was broken and appeared to have been in the state for some time with no indication of it being broken and the supplies (coffee pods, and sugar) fully stocked. This seemed to signal a lack of timely care for the common spaces especially.
Nice enough
Nice place, but no on site staff to assist with any issues. I loved the mattress, but was surprised that there was no mini fridge. Also, no daily refresh of the room. We had to reuse the 3 paper cups for several days, which was not ideal.
Ideal for short stay
Easy check in & check out.
Wss as expected , but could have been cleaner
Room was clean except for a big Kiss mark on mirror that grossed me out. Toilet paper holder was broken off.
The room was smaller than advertised. The bed was so small that my wife's feet hang out of the bed. I stood up and hit my head on the gaint TV in this small room. I left the room on Saturday and checked into a different hotel.
Great location! Very walkable, central area.
Cute, homie very responsive chat . Clean ! And in a veryyy nice neighborhood close to great spots!
Not what we expected
No front desk, had to enter using a code. No fridge in the rooms, only a public fridge on the main floor. No water fountains either. Luckily there was a 711 a block away though. Room was very small and bathroom had no hooks for the towels. Would not stay here again.
Clean & Very Responsive Customer Service
I give 4 star overall due to the loud non-central A/C heating that running every minute except pausing 15-20 seconds. I figured the ear plugs they provided could helped reduce the noise. But still can hear about 20 decimal. I had to turn off the A/C after run highest temperature about 15 mins. Then sleep until it gets cool and rerun 15 mins then turn it off. However I still can hear the A/C noise from other hotel rooms. I highly recommended the property owner upgrade it to be central A/C system or a quiet individual A/C with installing the compressor outdoor. The extra one star goes to the efficient communication system and easy check in using email instructions. I forgot my ID in the room and the customer service by text respond very fast with a phone call. They contacted the staff on-site and the staff waited me to pick it up. Customer service quality is very important to me. I had bad experience with a different trip car rental office in LA that all people on site care nothing about customers and those customer service was terrible that can’t help nothing because they are actually in India! I lost my phone in that trip in the public restroom.
There was no sound insulation between room 204 and the lobby area, and no staff to monitor the behavior in the lobby. No concierge is not a hotel. It should not be listed as one.
Hôtel dans la ville
Excellent location close to all monuments Prix correct avec service minimum Eco-responsable
Clean good value
The room is a bit dated and really could use new carpeting. Other than that it was very nice and convenient to metro and many restaurants, bars, etc.
Parking
Terrible and overpowering smell when you walk in the door. The toilet was dirty and when I immediately messaged them to ask about fixing I was given the run around and did not get a refund.
To old
Better Than Expected But Not Great
My first time staying at a Sonder property, and while I'm not sure I would choose it over a more traditional hotel again, I was very impressed by how well the "staffless hotel" concept worked - I was able to walk right in and go straight to my room without wasting time checking in or anything like that. The room was a perfect size - not too big or too small - and the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom could definitely use some attention (tiles were cracked and even missing along the edges, the faucet in the tub was... precarious). Overall, though, it was a nice place to stay, especially for the price.
I knew the room would be small, but not 8x13 small. No storage for clothes except for a portable rack with hangers. Had the same 2 bath towels for my entire stay of 3 nights/2 days, and 1 was used solely to soak up all the water in the bathroom from the tiny shower with the too short shower curtain. Gave up trying to use the tv--apparently a code is needed and logged in to watch any channel. Even at the cheapest roadside motel one can at least turn on the TV to get the local main channels. Location is great, very nice curb appeal, lobby is nice, but will not stay there again.
Room and bathroom were dirty and smelly. No ceiling light. The AC was too loud to sleep. Bathroom door was extremely heavy and wouldn’t close. The hair dryer kept going from hot to cold randomly. Stains, dirt and hair everywhere.
Seemed safe to walk around, property was clean
Room is fine but needs blackout blinds!
The windows need black out blinds. The lights right outside the window illuminated the room the whole night even with the provided blinds closed.
This property is awful. There is no on-site staff. You have to download an app and register an account, including room uploading a photo ID and full picture. Before you can get a code to get in. The room is small and there is no one to talk to for any help.
We asked to have the television remote two days in a row. No one came to fix it.
Very nice hotel, easy access to everywhere we needed to go. No staff on grounds but then the app the assisted chat answered promptly.
When I booked the room, I got an email asking me to do some pre-registration but it linked to a website with an error message. I responded to report the error message but didn't get a response. When I showed up, I realized there was no on-site staff and had to go through a long and frustrating call/online registration process to get into my room. Once I got in, the light switch didn't turn on any lights. Fortunately the bathroom light and one of the floor lamps worked but I didn't want to bother calling the help line again so I just managed with those. The room was comfortable and quiet enough but the check-in was extremely frustrating.
The public facility inside the hotel was beautiful. My issue was the hotel room that I reserved. It was not cleaned to the proper standard. It looked like all linen such as sheets and towels were not changed from the previous guest. Most items appeared to be clean (but I quickly found out was not). Thankfully I brought my own sanitary supplies. I am happy to accommodate my review with photos that I took during my first and last stay at this hotel.
Not the quality I've come to expect from Sonder
I have stayed at other Sonder locations and have been very impressed, which made this one disappointing in comparison. It seemed much more cheaply furnished and had stains on the carpet and cracks in the shower basin. The room also didn't have the basic amenities that I would expect in a hotel (e.g. no iron, no fridge, no closet/dresser, etc.). For the price of this location, I expected a better value, especially considering it's not on a convenient Metro line.
Mediocre stay
Apartment is very small, in an old building.on the bus route, and a street away from 17th on which various dining options are available. Smelly shower curtain, and musty carpets. Lighting not adequate.
We picked the hotel for location and price. Everything was clean and check in was seamless. For the price point you can’t get much better if you’re looking to stay in DuPont Circle. We’d happily come back if we are in DC again.
The neighborhood was quaint and quiet. I just wish there was someone always present to help us out with baggages or if we have questions. The room was simple but kinda lacked lighting. Complimentary slippers would’ve been nice too
Entry was complicated.
My search with Expedia was for the Dupont Circle hotel, a hotel in which I have stayed several times in the past. However, I was mislead and reserved instead at the Dupont Circle hotel powered by Sonder. When I visited the hotel I thought I had reserved they couldn’t find the reservation. I went to the other one which was awful. I called Expedia who I was very helpful and tried to cancel the reservation but the hotel refused, therefore had to pay again for the original hotel. The name is misleading, trying to get customers from the other hotel. They shouldn’t be allowed to appear in Expedia or any other sites with that name.
I will not be repeating a stay at this property.
Needs work
The rooms were tight, we only had two towels and 4 people, shower head was awful! Breakfast was not great.
Would not recommend to anyone specially older people.
Very safe and quiet
The facility needs paint and carpet.
Typical Stay
Cute room for what it was, but there was no ironing board or steamer. So not a great choice if you’re on a trip and need to freshen some items up. Ease of access, but ensure your phone is charged or remember the code otherwise you’re SOL. There is no one on site.
Room location about a mile and a half from the mall. Comfortable bed. No staff, self check-in. Toilet did not drain properly.
Inexpensive, well situated, very basic.
Very well situated, but minimalist: a basic room with double bed, desk, chair, hanging space, en suite bathroom. The price was reasonable and the surrounding area pleasant with some good restaurants and cafes and the Metro close by. Recommended.
Room was too small
Remote control had no back so loose batteries. When I got it to work, monitor said no connection. Coffee machine defective, leaked all over. I turned up the loud heater but it still was cold. Bed was very nice. Bathroom was clean and modern for an older building. Front door worked fine and door lock worked fine. Lounge at front was clean and modern.
The property is very tired and more like a hostel with private rooms that a hotel. The rooms are very small and mine wasn't in great condition. As a last minute option is was sufficient, but not somewhere I would recommend for the price..
Great location and perfect for my needs! Would stay again for sure!
Great location... once you do the sign in procedures - send them ID and photo - you get instructions and directions. Very easy to access. Parking probably very difficult.
Had such an amazing time at this place.
The window heater was not capable of keep the room warm enough in the winter. Showers were not hot, took 5 minutes to warm up. No USB charging option. No soap to wash hands in sink. They did provide body wash, conditioner, and body gel. Clean sheets and towels.
The room was just above freezing at check-in. The small heater didn't heat the room before lights out. Second day of stay I left the heater on. They turned it off while I was out for the day. It took hours for the room to heat back up. Do not stay here if you aren't a polar bear. You won't like it. There is no staff present so you can't switch rooms or get any help. They don't even give you a phone number to call for assistance. Just a front door and room door code to access your room on a digital door pad.
Great location and luxury accommodation
Good
Clean and good value. Far less heavily staffed than a traditional hotel (i.e. no front desk) but that's probably why it is less expensive than its competitors.
You should have cleaning service for every 2 days. We stayed there for a week and didn’t expect to clean by ourself. We asked what we deserved.
Good Place
I stayed to attend an academic conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. You can get to the venue in 20 minutes by taking a bus from the bus stop in front of the venue. The location was good. The room was clean, but the daily cleaning and towels were never changed in the 5 days we stayed. There is no breakfast, but there is a coffee machine in the lobby. However, it is very slow and defective. I think it's pretty cheap compared to the prices around here.
Meh
Pretty minimal. Room was clean but there was some visible damage to shower, walls etc. no water in room. Overall, not sure I’d try this again.
Too Expensive and No Real Service
First the 'hotel' is contactless, meaning there's no front desk counter with a real person to help with checking in. That wasn't so bad, what was bad was the room! It was in the basement, super small, dark, dated and my view was an alley. I could only communicate through the app only to tell me the hotel is fully booked. This hotel was expensive for what i received! There were no amenities other than a water station and a common microwave and refrigerators. What i did like was the lobby/lounge area, where i could work and eat (because the room was too small to do any of that) and it's in a walkable neighborhood. I was very disappointed and i probably won't stay there again.
Good for business trip if you are okay withour front desk
No complaints.
Quiet and trainquil
Small rooms, no services, but less costly than competing hotels. Very basic accomodations.
It’s charming and well kept
Musty in the room Batteries dead in TV remote
Easy contactless check in with super responsive service via email/chat. The property is conveniently located and highly accessible. It's a short walk and/or Uber/Lyft ride to stores, shops, restaurants, attractions, etc. and a tremendous value for the price! I will definitely stay here again and will recommend to colleagues, friends, and family members.
Dissapointed
The hotel is of course contactless, so you would expect to see very little hotel staff. However, I was dissapointed with how unclean the rooms were considering the fact it is contactless. I would have assumed they kept their rooms in good shape since there is no staff to call in a pinch if something is wrong. Also, if you wanted to request a cleaning, there was an associated fee. Overall, I was a bit dissapointed for the daily room rate.
Not worth the cost
AC didn’t work and walls are paper thin
The bed was not very comfortable and the AC unit had a mildew smell. The place looked very clean and updated, but I’m pretty sure it’s time for new beds and new AC’s.
I really like the keypad entry vs a physical card.
The showers are quite small as are the rooms in general. Very good area, near bars and restaurants. Felt very safe there.
My air conditioner broke wS not working as well after the 2nd day. Texted Sondrr and they really didn't help.
The room is small and dark. The bed is not queen sized (it felt like a twin). We stayed for a whole week and we didn’t get our room cleaned (they clean the room only for a fee which was around $50). AC is loud. The only huge thing they have in the room is the TV that is useless if you don’t have any streaming account (because the tv service isn’t offered by them). There’s a “kitchen” station with a communal microwave, fridge and coffee machine. The water dispenser wasn’t there until one day before we left and it didn’t have hot water. Location is great!
