We went to Fodele for my 50th birthday and it was wonderful! The seafront rooms were gorgeous, the grounds all look very modern, and the views were stunning. I love waterslides and they were so much fun! Pools are nice, and the beach is spectacular. Only drawbacks: the à la carte dining. The buffet actually tasted better than the à la carte, particularly the Italian restaurant. And sadly, the Greek restaurant forgot to bring us cake or do anything for my birthday as my husband had arranged. Still, overall, a very nice resort. Would recommend.

Great location; ideal for exploring Heraklion, Knossos, Rethymno areas (with a car). Staff were friendly. The food was plentiful, good and varied. The water slides were loads of fun. The cleanliness of the room was fine, but not spotless.

Not a 5 star hotel; not good value

This definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel, though we a good time and there positives: -The room feels new and is a decent size but balcony is small. Cleaning is OK -The food is great -Alcohol is really good from the main bars in the evening (premium brands, good selection) -The beach and waterpark are great -The staff are friendly BUT, there are many things that we’ve never experienced at a 5 star hotel and that would stop us staying again : - The swimming pool isn’t big enough for the number of guests; lots of people were arguing with reception about it. The sun loungers are crammed in next to each other and you can’t get them most of the time - it resembles a 3 star hotel in Benidorm. (the beach is better and we paid €30 for a cabana most days to have a good spot) -There is no drinks service by the pool or, more importantly, in any of the restaurants. If you want water at breakfast, wine at dinner, or a juice for your child, you have to go and queue for someone to serve you. They do bring water to your table at dinner but the staff are too busy and sometimes miss you. I’ve never known this in a 5, or even 4 star hotel. It's attrotious -There are lots of extra charges such as for ice cream or cocktails on the beach -There is no iron in the room and no way of getting one. Again, We’ve never known this in an hotel, let alone 5 star Overall, our child loves it but we wouldn’t stay again and don’t think it is good value for money (€400 a night)

Good stay

We had overall a nice stay at Fodele beach. Positives: water park is great- very well organised and with lots os different slides and pools. It is the highlight of the hotel. Staff is nice and the entertainment team is absolutely fantastic- the best I have ever seen in hotels. Lots of entertainment options and evening shows. Beach is nice - not the most scenic but the water is warm and calm most days. Hotel is close to the airport (30min) which is very convenient. Negatives: hotel is built on a hill so be prepared to spend the whole day going up and down. Some parts of the hotel felt a bit tired and not 5 stars. For example the bathrooms by the pools. The lockers for the bathroom doors are dodgy and I got stuck twice and had to be released by people outside. The food could be better. There are lots of options on the main restaurant but generally food is oily. The wifi in the rooms doesn’t work. We moved rooms on the first night because of that but new room closer to reception was only marginally better. Staff drives around on golf carts which doesn’t feel safe for kids to walk around. Also the golf cart’s brake undid when we were removing our bags from it and almost hit our son. Lucky it was just a scare but it could have been serious.

OK Overall

Crete was the third stop on our trip and we were so excited to check out this amazing waterpark resort overlooking the Aegean Sea. Overall the resort is ok. Things we loved: Staff was very friendly and helpful, Room was big and loved having 2 bathrooms, Waterpark was very fun, Beach was beautiful and the views even better. Loved the daily entertainment, we have never laughed harder than we did at the resort comedy show. Quick taxi ride from the Ferry Port or Airport. Things we wish were different: It is an All-inclusive that is mostly self service, you serve yourself everywhere you go, have to get your own food, your own drinks, no towel, drink or food service at the beach or the pools. Felt like a self service resort which was very odd to us for a 5-star hotel . Food was the same everyday and got very boring very quickly, reservations for the only 2 other restaurants were very inconvenient and difficult to make, plus wines were not included in the restaurant reservations. The enormity of the resort also makes it a bit exhausting to go from one end to the other.

We liked the private beach and layout of the property

The staffs at the desk were welcoming particularly Gianna and Michael. All the staffs were friendly and happy to help. Maria (the staff at the bar downstairs) was very cheerful and skilled in making good drinks. The facilities was great. Security was good At the pool areas, there is always life guards that are serious about making sure everyone is safe. I will give the hotel a rating of 9/10.

Fodele Hotel - 07/2021

Perfect hotel for families with children. The water park is very good, clean and organized. The service and food are great. Ask for a room in the first row to the sea and you will get a perfect view and the sound of pleasant waves. Highly recommended!

Beautifully located resort with a great beach and a very nice water park. The resort is built on a mountain, so many stairs expect those who stay in the top rooms. There is a small train (active between 10:00 and 18:30) and a golf car to take you if you're not in shape to take the stairs. We reserved 2 beach front rooms and requested to have adjacent rooms as we are a family with kids. When we arrived, we received found that the rooms are comfortable, but quite old. The rooms were adjacent and inter-connected which was great. In the evening we found that the location of the rooms (below the main swimming pool) is unfortunate because there was loud music in the pool area. The morning after, we asked if there was an option to change rooms and they gladly offered us to switch to a 2 bedroom family accommodation. No beach front, but much nicer and nicely renovated accommodation. I would recommend going for a renovated room, but unfortunately, there is no easy way to know if a room is renovated or not when you book online. The water park was the main reason we selected this resort, and it was indeed great fun. We stayed in early October and the water in the swimming pool was cold, so we tried the heated pool (which is external), but the water there were not much warmer... Breakfast is varied and excellent, but lunch and dinner, although varied, was not tasty.

Exceeded our highest expectations

We had high expectations, but the hotel managed to exceed even these highest expectations. Great service, best waterpark of all hotels we have been to, very big facility that could enable us even to dance in the big plaza to the sound of live music, and to eat meals without having to book in advance. And on top of that - gave us 4 hours to stay in one of our rooms for free until leaving to the airport. It was our second visit after 7 years and definitely would like to come back. Very recommended by our whole family (9,12 and 15 year old).

Amazing!

Amazing hotels for family with kids. The beach is perfect, the food is great, especially for kids. The additional restaurants have amazing food.

Nice hotel with sea views from most rooms. A good selection of quality food in the restaurant and the way the perspex screens had been installed for COVID and meant the hotel was able to serve the food quickly and efficiently.

property: the resort is built on the side of a hill, a very steep hill. there is a small "train" that seats about 20 at most that goes by every 15-25 minutes, without it you'll suffer and it works till 22:30. back and forth from the room is not much of an option and takes time and effort. the waterpark is at the top of the mountain and the rest is at the bottom so prepare yourself if comming with kids, elderly or handicapped. there are a very limited amount of "snackbars", mostly for drinks not snacks. they too are limited by hours. the pools are not built for full capacity so if you want a chair at the pool you'll need to go down the mountain at about 06:30 and catch a place, a real bother, otherwise forget about it. the rooms are nice but a bit small but suffice. many toilets scattered in the premises. the beach is at the bottom and is very nice. the only way to leave the resort to get anywhere is by renting a car or ordering a taxi. nothing in the vicinity. staff: the staff are very very polite and helpfull. cleanliness: the resort is well maintained and very clean, aspecially the toilets which i think is important. car rental: there is one minimarket (if you can call it that) that rents cars. the lady is very impolite and cheated us. she promised us a car "full to full" but gave us 3/4. when we confronted her she said we should bring a bucket and she will give us gasoline. supply and demand is a ***. food: expected much much more diversity and choices, same every day

Highly recommended - wonderful place

We were at Fodele for 6 days, the view is amazing the hotel is great. We enjoyed our stay a lot - the staff is super helpful & kind, the rooms are nicely decorated, clean & comfortable, the animation team is dynamic, creative and kind. We even got a surprise birthday cake for our son waiting in the fridge on his birthday - very nice attention. Last, we have specific dietary restrictions and the team accommodated our needs at every meal at no extra cost which we appreciated a lot.

The property the room just said should be one double bedroom but he was two single bed a Attach-together make a double bed there is not a double bed Not happy at all

perfect vacation!

imazing kindness of the workers, was absolutlty a great time for my children and me. i really want to say thanks to all the workers in the hotel, they were very kind and the stay was above all our expectations. magnificent place with magnificent service. we are very happy we have picked this hotel. the food was variable and tasty, the rooms are spacious and comfort. the welcoming was fantastic. i really reccomend from all my heart.

Had a great time at Fodele. Food was good. At the pool side and water slides not enough sun beds. You have to get your sun bed quite early. They should consider putting shade at the train stop. It was very hot and no shade. I would stay there again but when the prices are cheaper. I would not pay that price again. With my father’s heart condition we could not just walk up to our rooms we depended on the train. Making the reservation in March my father could’ve had a better room.

Great Family Friendly Resort

My family of four had a wonderful 3 night stay here. The facilities were great and they accommodated our young baby quite well. Our room was very clean and well kept. The food was great with many options including a buffet bar just for kids. The beach was wonderful. The resort partners with a water sports company that offers jet skis, wake boards, kayaks, and even a fly board which was a nice touch for the adventure seekers. The water sports aren't included in the all inclusive because it's a different company,but cost is reasonable. They offer a kids club, but wet didn't end up using it. The water slides and pools were great. My seven year old couldn't get enough. We just wish we had more time.

Hotel was far from city, that was inconvenient. Food was great , cleanliness was good & but staff information was not helpful to guide us were to visit.

The only aspect that may become difficult especially for elderly people are the many stairs that you may have to climb up and down from time to time, depending on the location of your room. (I had not problem with that, fortunately.) Overall, I liek this place!

We've been there before and we're certainly coming back! Lovely atmosphere, lovely renovated room, modern restaurant and despite the late season stay, all the facilities were open and available. We were lucky with the weather also, so we could use the Water Park! The staff was doing its' best to make us feel welcome until the very last moment!

Lovely stay

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel! The food was great, the room was just as shown in pictures, the staff was very nice and made us feel comfortable in our stay. Also the water park is great. The only thing is that they serve cocktails only after 17:30 (a lot of alcohol is still served but not cocktails) and that there is not a lot to do at night for adults (the entertainment is suitable mostly for children). But overall the stay was great!

Lovely family friendly resort

Beautiful resort with stunning backdrop and beautiful beach. Buffet choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner was actually outstanding - didn’t tire of it. Staff are incredibly friendly and genuine - makes the stay that much more memorable. The bars and facilities (gym, water park) are good and hotel was clean and well maintained. Would go back in a flash!

The crew was great, especially the guest relation- a lady naned Anna. The food was fresh, tasty and good. There are two in-house restaurants- Greek an Italuan which should be avoided. The water park was great

Fodele is the Walking Steps hotel. Something is WRONG with the layout of the buildings in this hotel. This hotel is not built in any consideration of kids who need strollers or immobile people. The hotel is built on a hillside, instead of having path trails along the hill it is all steps over steps and more endless steps. They do have a train that takes you up, but they have no way of taking a stroller on it. So, you walk and you walk from the beach with the steps to the reception, which also has 3 level of floors (with steps between :) Climbing a hill with a stroller for 5 days wasn't easy. We are all more fit now that's for sure. All of these not-mobile friendly problems should be written in large font everywhere - on the hotel's website - not written anywhere, in booking - NOt Written! We felt like we paid to be able to climb up and down and walking 4000 steps a day - just to get to the beach or to the pool area there is NO elevator, you have to WALK STEPS! Not something a disabled person or a baby on a stroller can handle. You can't even go to the restaurant without having to lift the stroller down 2 floors. Other then the accessibility problem this hotel is overpriced. We paid $2000 for 4 nights. which sounds reasonable for a 5-star hotel, but we are still trying to understand how is this hotel a 5 stars hotel to begin with. This is not a five star hotel . the facilities are not accessible in any way for small children or adults. the pools are small and very far from each other, to get to the room you got to climb a long way on foot. The mattress is one of the worst I ever slept on. The food here is repeatedly everyday. the restaurants in the hotel one Greek and one Italian serve very bad food, the same as they serve in the main dining room. ‏one thing is for sure, i never coming back to this place

Great hotel for families

Fondele beach is a large resort and caters perfectly for families looking for all inclusive relaxing holidays. The beach is great, there is a water park and few swimming pools. Our only complaint would be that the main swimming pool where the kids can safely stand up is always busy and not big enough to accommodate all the families in the resort. Fellow tourist were reserving the deck chair with their towels for the whole day so we never managed to find a free spot. Otherwise all was excellent . Amazing variety of food and drinks all day long. Stress free holidays and excellent, attentive staff . Recommended

Stunning Resort! Generous people! Amazing time!

I have to say that is trip will forever hold near and dear in my memory. Everything about it was wonderful and exactly what a vacation should be. Food was delicious, cleanliness on point, staff beyond friendly, and variety/location a dream! There are so many places to travel in the world but it is hard to not want to come back here every year after this experience. On top of that we were a group of 8 celebrating my birthday and there was always something for everyone to do. From the beach, jet skis, spa, rental cars to see Island, etc. you name it! Can’t wait to come back!!

Not a 5 star ... or even close to it.

Arrived at the hotel to be put in a room that was not what we ordered. Eventually we got moved rooms. New room was lovely and with a fab view. Cleaning- In the 10 nights, they didn't clean the floor and we had to ask to get the glasses replaced. Every other 5 star I've been to, if there are soft drinks in the inroom fridge,they are free, this isn't the case... but as there was no bottle opened it didn't matter! 1 bottle of water in room on arrival, not replaced during 10 days. No toiletries in room. It's on a massive hill. Beware taking buggies. There is supposed to be a train that runs every few minutes to take you up but it broke down on our 2nd day. They used golf carts and minibuses but it was hard to get them to turn up. 200 steps to get up if you can't get them to come. They were great taking luggage up and down for you. Reception were pretty useless. Evening entertainment wasn't very good. Pools were lovely and clean (but beware,they are freezing). Beach was clean and enjoyed going in the sea. Drinks - no cocktails until 5.30pm (and very limited range). All juices etc were long life synthetic tasting.. no fresh. Queues to get drinks. Bar staff were fab though. Food - you couldn't book into the Italian if you were staying for a week as the waiting list was over a week... not on really!! Greek restaurant was okay but nothing special. The lunch ''F' restaurant (named all day but is just 12-3/4)was nice but same thing every day. Main restaurant was just 'okay'

GOOD FOR A FAMILY HOLIDAY

Great hotel for a family holiday with children. Has everything all in one place, - swimming pools, aqua park and although access to each can be difficult. There is a little train that will take you up to your rooms (if you not in main building) and aqua park but can be infrequent and a bit of a 'bun fight' to get a seat in peak times. So the steps and hot weather can make it hard work but good exercise. I loved the beach - always plenty of sun beds, not too busy even in August, beach bar and exceptionally clean loos/changing room etc., Private bay with warm sea and jet ski/activities etc., Food was average - I like salads so I was Ok, chips and pizza were popular but all meat/fish tended to be overcooked and lukewarm. Staff fantastic and so was my room. Recently re furbished and although up quite a few steps I loved it. New bathroom etc., and whole resort was kept spotless. Beach loos cleaned every hour. Plenty of choice of drinks on the all inclusive and no shortage. Very hard to get a seat by pool although there was a no reserve bed policy all were taken by 8.30am with towels on and hotel didn't enforce the policy at all. Squashed in like sardines but probably better not so bad out of school holidays. When there was entertainment it was poor to say the least. Fine for the little children who like to dance - but nothing at all for adults but on the positive side time for families to be together and improve their card skills!

Beautiful resort well thought of and planned

This was a real pearl. Our expectations were high since some of our friends had visited in the past and we heard quite a lot about the place. Needless to say that we were not let down. The hotel and its staff were super friendly and wonderful. Location is stupendous, the beach is gorgeous and the water park a real treat. The resort is charming and clean. Would recommend it highly!!!

3* service

This hotel deliver 3* service but charges 5* prices. Excellent location, water park, family room and beach. Unfortunately food is not good, drinks poor, all self service, restaurant too small, appalling dress code and encourages bad behaviour If you want a 3* where the kids run wild. this hotel will be ideal. However, if you appreciate global 4 or 5* service. then this isn't for you very disappointing service from a potentially excellent location and facility

A truly relaxing holiday

We arrived very late, but the receptionist very kindly still offered us dinner. The staff are extremely efficient friendly and very hard working. The facilities available at Fodele make ones experience truly relaxing as there is a 'look no further' approach to everything. Within a day the kids became familiar with everything and we felt very safe and looked after.

Weekend of laughs

The room was a little outdated but the facilities of the hotel made up for it. The water park and pools were a lot of fun, as were the all inclusive cocktails. The service and assistance from staff around the grounds was great and made moving luggage and getting to the room much easier.

Family hotel

The internt was horrible i paied for 3 devices for 3 days and was not able to use it the staff couldnt do anything about it... Not very helpful with that... The food was great The beach was beautiful ... Nice scenery all around

The staff especially the animation team are fab!

Disappointment alround. The rooms were cramped. The resturant was noisy and you had to wait for every meal to get a table and a lot of rude guests who would barge infront of you to get food. On one evening people were literally fighting over plates and there were huge queues for some food! The one and only restaurant can not cope with the amount of people. Also the hotel website led us to believe that there were two other restuarants to choose from for the all inclusive but you actually had to pay extra for these. The food was ok but the menu rarely changed (we were there for 10 days!) nightmare! For all inclusive guests the bar stopped free drinks at 11pm, after that you had to pay!! not great when you are enjoying yourselves with older children who wanted to stay up until midnight. The water park was ok. The big positive was the animation team who put on a great variety of activites. They were always smiling and great fun to be around. OUr kids absolutely loved them!!

Idyllic but would not know u were in Greece. Did not play one Greek song in 5 days. Some workers were foreigners who didn't speak Greek. Waterpark attendants excellent and went beyond the call of duty! Guests snooty and I'll mannered.

Lovely resort, loads to do

This is a lovely and lively place for a family holiday. Loads to do or equally, easy to chill out and relax. Because there is do much sunbed space around the pools and on the beach it never felt overcrowded even though it is a big hotel. Enthusiastic animation team. Try and get a room close to the Reception area otherwise it's a long walk up!

Vacation with the kids

This is truly a resort, with many facilities and activities. Overall I enjoyed my stay. Pro's: Spacious modern rooms with lcd tv's and free mini-bar. All included. Many outdoor activities, large selection of pools, beach activities and water slides. Hotel staff is courteous, fast and efficient. Wide selection of foods at all meals. Cocktail bar is included, and the staff there is fast and friendly. Con's: The hotel/resort is built on a mountain, so if your room is distant from the reception it may take you some time to reach the main restaurant, pool and the parking facility through the maze of stairs, and a long climb awaits you on your way back. The shower does not contain any shampoo or conditioner, only soap (so bring your own shampoo before your visit). Fruits and vegetables are fresh and good. The cooked food is about average. There is hardly any 3G cellular reception (Local Wind Mobile operator has the best reception), and WiFi prices are not cheap. Safe costs around 4 Euros per day. Caterpillars find their way into the room several times a day, though harmless, it is an annoyance.

Like a cheap carnival cruise

Rooms are awful. (like a motel 6) Only recommending feature was the water slides but needed more people to supervise so they could all be open during the day instead of half in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. Meals like college cafeteria (not a good college-very little modification) with the exception of the Morning crepes which were excellent

Logement assez grand, par contre une seule chambre dans le logement alors que l'intitulé en stipulait 2, la deuxième étant en fait le salon (donc non cloisonnée). En ce qui concerne le ménage, les serviettes de toilette sont repliées mouillées et remises sur les étagères ainsi que les tapis de bain quand il y en a. Buffet très bien, très varié.

Wonderful Hotel with good quality food, proefessional and motivated staff with a smile. Had a great room that was spacious and quiet. All inclusive at its best with high quality drinks (real aperol!, and not a cheap alternative)

Zusammengefasst ein gutes Hotel, was keine Wünsche offen lässt. Sehr viel Familien mit Kindern.

Klasse Hotel. Sehr unaufdringlich und freundlich.

Mycket trappor dåligt med hiss och svårt med barnvagen finns ingen köp centrum närheten närmaste i bilen 30 minuter. Det var Jätte varmt i runmet. Annars jätte fint hotell emot havet fint utsikt bra servers personal som jobbar väldigt trevliga och snälla, dessutom maten var god.

Het enige negatieve is het strand. Het strand zit vol met stenen waardoor het in het water lopen een pijnlijke bedoeling is. Verder was de accomodatie geweldig. Het eten was lekker en gevarieerd, de glijbanen en toezicht erop waren heel goed.

Sehr enttäuschend

Wer Pauschaltourismus mit All Inclusive mag ist hier richtig - allerdings leidet die Qualität und Atmosphäre deutlich. Um es aber ganz klar zu sagen: Es liegt nicht am Personal, dieses ist sehr bemüht. Vielmehr ist es eine Melange aus Publikum in Vollkaskomentalität und fehlendem Anreiz für den Betreiber durch das All Inclusive. Die Anlage wirkt ein wenig seelenlos und die Pools auf der Plaza wirken eher nach Parkplatz als nach liebevoll gestaltetem Garten. Der Strand ist auch eher Massengeschäft so liegt man recht dicht aneinander und schaut auf die karge Umgebung. Schlimm fand ich den Umgang mit Corona. Wir wurden nicht nach unseren Impfnachweisen gefragt und es gab einige Innenveranstaltungen ohne Maske und ohne Abstand. Da wirkt es fast albern, dass das Personal neben dem Pool ein Maske trägt während der biertrinkende Urlaubsgast munter ohne herumläuft. Auch wird von Seiten des Hotels nicht darauf geachtet, dass die Masken richtig getragen werden. Insgesamt ein sehr enttäuschender Aufenthalt. Wir werden nicht nochmal kommen.

Ideal für Eltern mit Kindern! Feiner Sandstrand mit Bar. Meer flach, erster Meter ins Meer Kies, stellenweise Steine. Hatten für kids Badeschuhe mit, war unnötig da Kies ok, man findet auch reinsandige Stellen. Viele verschiedene Pools. Minizug fährt alle paar Min auf Hügel mit Aquapark/Rutschen. Dort auch Minigolf. Frühstück Mittag Abend top Buffets, manches wiederholt sich, immer auch Neues. Personal super freundlich. Meist Sitzplätze Loggia frei, Essen mit Aussicht aufs Meer! Auch à la carte Restaurants Italien Griech. Um 20h Kinder-Disco. Oft Show Amphitheater oder auf Terrasse. Zwei Bars, eine im Freien. Hotelzimmer auf Hügel daher viele mit Meerblick. Wer nicht 5-10min zu Fuß gehen will, nimmt Mini-Zug zum Aquapark. Suiten ganz unten, kurzer Weg zum Meer. Neben Zimmer-WC steht Metall-Kübel mit dichtem Deckel, offenbar für WC-Papier das in Griechenland zur Vermeidung von Verstopfungen fast überall nicht im WC landen sollte. Dejligt ophold

Virkelig god oplevelse. Pænt hotel i god stand. Maden var helt ok, bedre end gennemsnit all inclusive hoteller. Godt badeland, dog ikke så mange liggestole der, men der var ikke så mange gæster pga corona. Min søn blev venner med alle livredderne og græd da vi skulle sige farvel. Så dejligt sted.

Ein absolut empfehlenswertes Hotel, Essen super ( à la carte waren wir nicht, somit bewerte ich hier nur das Buffet) Personal extrem herzlich und sehr aufmerksam. Unser Zimmer und das Bad waren modern eingerichtet und ausgestattet. Eine Empfehlung: die Liegen an Pool und Strand könnten erneuert werden. Vielen Dank für die tolle Woche. Die Familie ist erholt heimgekehrt!!!
