Horrible experience, hard to find, the room smelt horrible like it was full of moisture, the roof had mould on it, the shower would flood very quickly and you have to step out and wait for the water to go down the drain before continuing. The air conditioning leaked as soon as it was turned on and ruined my passport. The worst part is when complaining to the staff about these issues they said they couldn’t do anything about it, no room relocation or refund or anything so we were stuck in this horrible hotel for 3 nights. The only positive was they booked us a taxi to get out
Awesome location, just a couple of minutes from the hospital we were seeing, restaurants and clothing stores everywhere, having 3 doors until you reach your room made us feel very safe and the stuffs was very nice. Only downside was that the AC was leaking but at least it worked really good so we really didn’t mind, great location to start our trip! Highly recommend and the price was also very fair :)
Perfectly located, but a possession was broken
Our stay in the Florida rooms was great with the exception that one of our items was broken to point of being unusable during a room cleaning. According to communications with the hotel staff, the cleaning crew and the hotel agreed to pay for the broken item. However, since leaving Rome, almost a month ago, communication with the Hotel has been non-existent. Unfortunately, the cost associate with the broken object is significant. Other than that, the place suited out needs. Perfectly located, walking distance to all of the main sites. The neighborhood is excellent, with plenty of food options within steps. If the hotel remedies our issue, I would be more than happy to change this rating to a 5 out of 5.
A great budget hotel. Small but comfortable rooms. Our room seemed much better than pictures shown online. Shower was tiny but my husband and I didn’t mind as we are small people. Super close to the Vatican and a yummy gelato place. Only complaint was that it was very hard to find… the general location was easy but we were not informed we would need to ring the buzzer of “Boutique Hotels” to get inside. We were also asked to pay the nightly fee in cash and in Euros which would have been nice to have known beforehand.
A tricky review to give since my trip was great, but sadly many of the amenities listed simply did not exist during my stay, which put a damper on things. No front desk, no actual breakfast options, wifi was nearly nonexistent, laundry was a hidden charge at check out, so on. The location is amazing and right in the middle of it all and the property manager was very helpful despite the overpromised amenities. Room was decent, bed and such was nice and clean. Walls were pretty thin, though, my only complaint, but otherwise they were fine. Hard to say if I'd be back but maybe...
Our stay was conviently located close to the Vatican and shopping areas and resturants. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Great location
It was a great stay with a great location. Right in the middle of everything rome.
Friendly staff, convenient location (Vatican and restaurants).
GREAT PLACE TO STAY
They were GREAT.....Very Clean
The room and the common areas where spotless. Always very clean. The building however, looks really scary from outside. The service was as expected. Wifi it’s only in common areas, this was kind of a bad trip.
Forget customer service
The location of the hotel is great for the Vatican and good walking distance to other sites with international shops and good bars nearby. Had booked the superior room but the aircon was broken so I was placed in the classic room for first night. I asked the night porter for a bottle of water and was told that the superior rooms have mini bars but as I had 'booked' a cheaper room he wouldnt give me a bottle!. Fortunately the friend I was travelling with could use their superior room and gave me a bottle of her water. Even when I tried to explain the situation, the night clerk said it was my fault! I spoke with the Manager/owner the next morning about the clerk's attitude and the Manager implied that I was lucky to have had a room at all! I asked for compensation for being put in a cheaper room and the manager/owner was not impressed. He reluctantly gave me €10 off but then argued that I should pay €10 deposit for the aircon controller - really? English is spoken by the day clerk but the computer is used to translate for non italian/english speaking guests. I had to help translate for some french guests to speed up our check-in. As to their being English channels on the TV - the owner wasnt aware the website stated their was CNN and BBC - but only Italian stations with poor reception were available. The updated superior rooms were very nice but no place for shampoos or soap in the shower!
Close to Vatican. Safe area.
I would recommend this hotel to others. The staff was extremely helpful. As an example, I left my credit card at a restaurant late one night. The clerk gladly called the restaurant and asked them to hold it for me. He then called us a taxi the next morning and wrote out on a card what to say to the restaurant staff once we arrived there to retrieve card. They also arranged for taxi service to and from the airport, which I would highly recommend. The Hotel Florida was in a safe area, near lots of shopping, and very close to the Vatican. Although the room was small, it was as described on website. We were out sightseeing all day, so only needed a place to sleep. The beds were comfortable. Bathroom was small, but clean. Air conditioning worked well. The hotel was quiet and felt authentic. Guests had to be buzzed in at the gate, so it was very safe. Breakfast was basic, but we learned Italians do not eat the typical American breakfast. Overall, very pleased with our stay! Hotel clerk, Michael and his brother (Manuela?) were especially helpful. They recommended great places to eat nearby too!
Great little European hotel near the Vatican.
Hotel Florida was wonderful. So was Cantiani, the cafe across the street. We had great tiramisu several times as we watched the evening strollers. Of course, the hotel room wasn't big, but everything had been renovated, including the bathroom. The staff took care of our requests quickly--and we had them call a lot of taxis. This was my sixth trip to Rome and the best accommodation I've had.
Excellent location in Prati, have to be buzzed in at the street level entrance gate every time entering the building.
Nice people, poor hotel
Difficult to find, really small rooms, dirty walls, public parking couple of blocks, extra cost for room WiFi make this a poor choice. Although the staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities left a lot to be desired. We would definitely look for another alternative if we ever go back to Rome.
Good value and comfy
Very convenient for visiting Rome. Near the Vatican and the Metro. Breakfast is optional and could be improved.
Hotel Florida AAA+
This hotel is in nice neighborhood, only blocks from the Metro. Great service, good breakfast, nice clean rooms.
Hotel Florida-Rome May 15-22, 2015
Hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and very helpful.
Great location
If you want to see the Vatican it is a 5 minute walk, the hotel staff were friendly. the room was basic but clean, no tea or coffee facilities but a fridge of drinks( Which were cheap). Basic but does what it says on the tin and we would go back.
Great service, no WiFi in rooms
The staff was incredibly helpful. The location is nice. It is near the Vatican, there's a wonderful fresh food market a block away, a nice coffee shop across the street, and a restaurant that serves nice pizza (20 percent off for take away) a block or so away. The Metro stop is near. However, it is very inconvenient to not have WiFi in the rooms. You have to go to a common area, which was on a different floor for us. It didn't work that great sometimes… Overall, it was decent for a 2-star hotel, mostly because the staff is really helpful. I don't understand the complaint about the small showers, ours was about 36" x 36". We Americans can find them much smaller at Home Depot.
Hotel hidden away in an alley and up a lift, breakfast extra, otherwise not bad.
Great location to Vatican City.
Small rooms and bunk size beds, clean, great reception staff. But the location was great and a big market with everything fresh right behind it. About 5 blocks to the Vatican. If you just want the location at a good price, few extras, wi fi in the reception and a good value breakfast for 5 euros, then I would recommend it.
nice place
Nice hotel, friendly staff, nice, location. Newly remodeled.
ok for the price but not much room, no wireless in rooms, no common area. More like a pension.
Rome Hotel Experience
The hotel sits back from the street so you really have to look at the street number or you will miss it. I did like the fact that you have to buzz the hotel to open the front gate and door, for security reasons. The building itself is old but most are in Rome. The room was clean, shower very small (like the size of a refrigerator) and hard to get into and I am an average size person. It was quiet most of the time but was woken up twice in the middle of the night because there is a nightclub nearby. The staff was very helpful with directions and locations of things. If you bring food in you can't eat in the dining/reception area, you have to eat in your room.I did like the location though since it's very close to Vatican City.
Suitable for a short stay
Do not expect luxurious or spacious rooms. The four-bed family room is very basic with an extremely small bathroom. This is Europe so this is what anyone can expect. Nevertheless, very clean rooms and comfortable beds. Very friendly staff will guide you and advise you in regards to how to get the best out of Rome. Metro station is within 15-minute walk, Vatican is within a few blocks, plenty of local restaurants to choose from. The only complain is the poor range of WiFi signal. We could not get reception in our room.
Overall great!
The staff was extremely helpful, speaking great English, the rooms were very clean and nice, and the location was perfect for us an seemed good an safe as well. Our only complaint was that the wifi was not really working in the lobby so we had to go up to the 6th floor to get wifi on our phones. Other than that, though, I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends!
Great hotel for weekend break.
Location was excellent, very handy for sightseeing and not too far from the nearest underground stop. The room was clean and comfortable, nothing too exciting but good for the price we paid. Despite the hotel entrance being on the main road the rooms were quiet. The staff were friendly and keen to point out all the main tourist attractions.
Great location, great service
The hotel was is a great location, an easy walk to the Vatican and St. Peter's. We arrived late and had no problem with checking in and the clerk helped with the luggage. The hotel is on the 1st floor but there is an elevator. The complaint I have is the water pressure of the shower was terrible. In order to get good pressure you had to put it at scalding. Anything else was a trickle of water--not good for washing your hair.
Prime location, comfy beds.
Hotel was a little difficult to find as it was inside a gated complex but reception is manned 24 hours so no problems gaining entry. Hotel is exceptional value for money, mainly due to it`s location - OK, so it`s not exactly next door to St. Peter`s but the 10 or so minute walk is via an array of nice shops and eateries. Room was a little basic and shower was really small but bed was lovely and comfortable and we slept very soundly. My only real issue was being able to hear other residents returning to their rooms after midnight. We only had 1 full day in Rome but we were able to visit most of the sights, mainly due to the location of Hotel Florida. We would be happy to return to this hotel on our next trip.
Not bad
In an alley with a seriously old fashioned elevator. Good breakfast for 5 euros extra. Rooms modern with little furniture. No place for a suitcase. But clean and a good location. NOT steps from St. Peters but several blocks. Nice staff. Price is good for Rome. Two star is about right.
Hotel Florida in Rome, Italy
The customer service was good. The hotel has a good location but the sign outside the building say pension and not a hotel. Also, the rooms are very small and the shower extremely tiny. I am 5 feet and weight 135 pounds and it was very difficult to take a shower- there was mildew between the tiles. Also in the hotel description say the room window face its garden, there is no garden, all we could see was an ugly roof of another building inside the patio and other balconies with hanged clothes. It was extremely ugly to look through the window and see that. The price was outrageous for what the hotel is. I will not stay in this hotel again.
Gem with the character
This is a very cute hotel! It's located in the old building with a lots of character, yet the rooms are modern and super clean. The elevator is cool: it's one of those antique once with the manual doors :) The receptionist (young lady from Argentina) is very nice and friendly. She checks you in and then goes with you to your room to show you where it is and open it up for you. She makes you feel extra welcome. The location is perfect. Two blocks from the Vatican. The subway and bus stops are only couple of blocks away. Lots of nice restaurants. Do not eat at the restaurants off the main streets. Go behind into a little streets and alleys. Those will have much more delicious food and will not rip you off. My husband and I had coffee at the restaurant just across the street from the walls of Vatican and we each paid 4.5 euros for a little cappuccino!!!! bare in mind that if you get a cash out from an ATM machine, they will charge you $5 service fee. The hotel room did not have a telephone. So, if you need a wake up call, make sure to tell them at the front desk to come knock on your door instead. All in all would highly recommend this hotel!
would repeat
nice hotel, very friendly staff. perfect for travelers on a budget
Great Location, BUT we were disappointed
Sept.25,2009. We had rented 3 rooms for 3 couples. They said they ran out of rooms, which we booked and paid for 3 rooms through Orbitz months ago.My husband & I had to stay on the 4th floor in a Pension as a last resort. It was not even the Hotel Florida. The room was small with the shower being self contained in the bathroom without it having a separate door. The room was very noisey from kids in the next door room. It was very HOT in the room. They did not know where the remote was for the ceiling fan. They finally had to bring in a floor fan. They had one small elevator which only held one person with 2 suitcases in it. WE would never recommend this Hotel Florida to anyone.
Okay for the price
Hotel very convenient to Vatican City. Across town form Ancient Rome. Air conditioning was hit and miss.
Nice price, very good located
Very good located, small bathroom, but clean and firendly stuff
Not what I have expected......
I chose the hotel for the location and because it seems modern and with confortable rooms. At the end the room was really small and the bathroom really tiny. I would not recommend to a couple or to a family. Maybe it could be last minute solution for a single.
Roma
Weekend pulito in centro
Boa estsdia
A estadia foi tranquila, Boa localização, ambiente silencioso confortável e limpo. Somente o banho não me agradou. A ducha era fraca, entupida, o ralo também estava entupido por essa razão tinha que fechar constantemente a ducha se não alegava o bamheiro , e o box também não tinha uma boa vedação, logo o banheiro ficava alagado.

Perfect for a one night only. Room and washroom were too small
