great value for money

Fernz Motel & Apartments is an excellent place to stay. The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-equipped, providing a comfortable and relaxing environment. The location is convenient, with easy access to local attractions and amenities. The staff are friendly and accommodating, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. Overall, a fantastic stay – highly recommended!

Lovely clean and quiet hotel with good access to the ferry for downtown. Plenty of free parking at terminal if you can’t manage the hill.

Modern, clean, spacious apartments just a minutes walk to Birkenhead shops and restaurants. Secure parking with lift made access easy. We felt safe and were looked after very well by hosts Jan and Ayliese. Perfect location without the business of the city! Easy check process including after hours check in. Short drive to beautiful North Shore beaches. We'll definitely recommend staying here during your stay in Auckland! Pay

A friend and I stayed for 3 nights as I had a surgery nearby and we are from out of town. The staff were friendly, the cleaners were friendly and did an exceptional job. The property (the suite and the building and garden areas) were all beautiful and well kept. Very happy with our stay and experience.

Very nice with a kitchenette. It has an oven, dishwasher, washer & dryer and a full size fridge.

Modern attractive building. Helpful staff.

This is the second time we have stayed and we have recommended it to others. It is clean and staff are very helpful. It is quiet away from hustle and bustle of the city but yet easy access to the motorway to get to town. The convenience of parking your car in their car park is wonderful it takes away the anxiety and cost of parking in a carpark building in town. Comfy beds.

Staff were lovely, room was very spacious - we had a 2 bedroom. Beds were very comfy. Overall had a lovely stay here.

Great apartments, spacious & lovely big ranch slider to a big balcony with great views and afternoon sun, although bathroom a bit small had to squeeze past shower door to get into the shower (very minor inconvenience) otherwise would definitely book again and recommend.

We always enjoy staying at Fernz on trips to Auckland. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious - great when traveling with family. Location is great, too. Easy access to Auckland CBD and good restaurant options within walking distance.

Loved our stay

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. The view was amazing. Our room was very clean and had plenty of space for 4 of us. Super handy to have two bathrooms and off street parking. Lovely friendly staff with super easy check in. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again!

Great stay would happily stay again

Great accommodation.

The only real fault was the central heating/cooling wasn't working in the unit we were given. There was a plug in heater that was very noisey. The underfloor heating in the bathroom worked but not in the main lounge/bedroom. Unfortunately it was quite cold during our stay. For such a nice new unit it was disappointing. There was a portable fan in the unit as well so obviously AC not working as well. That's why 4 out of 5. Location was great for event we were attending.

Great location and good for families

We enjoyed our stay as a family of four, our kids being 8 and 4 years old. Fernz is nice and tidy and our room was well appointed with h everything we needed. Parking was free and very convenient with plenty of space under each respective building. The area is safe and has heaps of eating options.

Excellent modern motel

Great stay in roomy apartment. Felt welcomed from the moment we checked in. The apartments are modern and roomy and had all the amenities we needed. The staff went the extra mile with matress toppers for my daugther who had just had an operation and needed a softer bed. Thanks for the stay! Would definately come back again.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect and fit our needs, but could use a slightly larger kitchen trash bin. The neighborhood was fun to explore with a lot of good local eateries and wine bars. I even enjoyed a nice haircut at Stylish Barber a couple of doors away. If you prefer something outside the city this is it.

Great find for a weekend event bringing us to AKL from out of town. Staff super friendly room clean, bathroom modern with underfloor tiled heating. Found it strange about the room’s heating source that we were given an oil heater. With its short cord, oil heater made it difficult to heat the room at night safely without being close to bed or a trip hazard in middle of night. Took a while to heat up room also. Would totally stay again. Thanks team FERNZ

Nice property close but not too close to Auckland city. It was likexa hotel but more roomy, less expensive, and I could cook food if I wanted. Would stay again.

Spacious clean and tidy rooms. Safe off street parking and handy to transport. 10 mins by bus to downtown Auckland.

Lovely apartment in Birkenhead

Great apartment with quality ammenities. Loved having a washer and dryer after being on the road traveling around NZ. Great space inside the apartment and the balcony was an added bonus. Great location-out of Auckland but we found Birkenhead to have plenty of food options and a good supermarket. Would definitely stay again.

This property is a light at the end of a chaotic week of accommodation. I will definitely be staying here again when I visit auckland. Price, convenience utilities absolutely perfect. The only thing missing was a hair dryer but I may have missed that. Everything was to perfection even the coconut oil soap. My fav.

OK apartment hotel in an OK area

A relatively new modern apartment in an old town Birkenhead centre, with coffee shops restaurants and shoppings surrounding, partial sea view from terrace. Issues are 1. Main bedroom doesn’t have enough light, both bathrooms don’t have windows, overall the rooms are not bright enough; 2. Sofa, chairs surface have stain; 3. limited kitchen supplies.

Location great, rooms/balconies very overlooked. Everything this else excellent and would definitely stay again.

Second time we have stayed here and once again it was an excellent choice. Very clean and comfortable with all the amenities required for a short stay. The washing machine and tumble dryer are an added bonus. Will definitely stay here when back in Auckland area. Mulan Malaysian restaurant a short stroll away is excellent- ate there twice and would advise booking especially at weekends.

The perfect location and perfect room to relax and enjoy a restfull stay

Quick and efficient checkin. Clean, quiet and modern apartments. Well run by helpful staff. Excellent location for local shops and wide choice of restaurants. 20 minute walk to ferry to Auckland centre - £4 [$8 NZ]. Bus stop nearby to take you to Auckland city centre but you need a prepaid card for it. Have re booked for another stay during our trip. Staff will book transfer to airport if required.

The WiFi not good, very bad

Central to shops and food places and to our appointment. Unit was airconditioned and most important clean and comfortable. Modern and fresh. Beds were excellent, so was parking in the building. Would certainly stay again or recommend to others.

We love staying at the FERNZ and always stay there when we're in Auckland. It's so easy to get onto the motorway going north or south and the restaurants in Birkenhead are fantastic.

5/5 booked 2. Different rooms and both had great views of the area and Auckland city. Clean and staff was very responsive.

Very welcoming and friendly on arrival. I booked two seaview apartments for 2 nights. The lovely lady on reception gave us 2 options for car parking. A code for entry after hours. The young house keeping gentleman was delightful. We were attending my son's wedding. That night I realised to my horror I didn't have the after hours code with me for my parents. Fernz has an after hours number and answered straight away with kindness in their voice to help. I rate our stay 10/10. The view of Auckland City harbour with night lights - outstanding!

Highly recommended place to stay for short or long

From arrival to the end, we mostly had no issues. The free onsite parking was easy and plenty of spaces - door from car park to the lift and then to the room - couldn't ask for better. The service from reception staff was friendly and efficient. The room was perfect for our 4 night stay - we had the aircon superior apartment. The lounge was spacious, good size table for eating, large fridge, large balcony with nice furniture to sit on, functional kitchen (does need better lighting under bench). a few more coat hangers wouldn't go astray, good storage for bags, comfy large bed, nice bedroom with slider off the lounge. The bathroom was kindy pokey but only because of the door opening up so close to the toilet that you had to close it to get around the other side to it, and the washer/dryer. A slider would have been better. The shower was a good size, plenty of cupboard space for toiletries, good size towels. Location was perfect to be able to walk into the city centre. Would definitely come again, especially for a longer than 1 or 2 night stays. Thanks!

Great location and clean modern decor

We were given great parking directions and plans for after hour check in. Everything went so smoothly. Beautiful restaurants close walking distance. Clean roomy apartment. We will definitely stay here again and recommend to our friends. Best on the Northshore we have found.

Not the quality we were expecting!!!! Expected a normal hotel style room, but instead got a suite with oodles of room. Unfortunately we could only stay 2 nights before moving out further west, but would have stayed longer and travelled now we are at our next accomodation. Definately staying here again next time in Auckland.

The after hours check-in process was straight forward with very easy to follow instructions. Room was very spacious and facilities complete and functioning. The only thing to complain about was when it rained, the rain from the balcony above would drip on a metal trim on my balcony and it would sound like someone was typing on a really loud keyboard (would have been fine except it was bed time 😔😔😔😔😔😔) Otherwise, very happy with my stay and would definitely return.

Great place to stay.

It was a nice modern motel but let down by the parking the owners were charming and the motel was in the Centre of Birkenhead, so very convenient. However for the nightly price I expected to get access to the streaming services and have our beds made daily…none of which happened. The bathroom sink was dirty and it appears just a cursory wipe of the kitchen bench amounted to a “serviced room”. Will NEVER stay there again.

Very nice & great veiws

On arrival I felt welcomed. The art work, care in the landscaping and overall meticulous presentation exceeded our expectations. 2 bedroom self contained apartment was fresh modern, with a feeling of luxury. That night we booked another stay for 2 apartments for 2 nights to attend my son's wedding.

We absolutely loved staying here. It’s close to the city, has some great little cafes around and the ferry terminal is down the end of the street. The staff were very accommodating and lovely. The only complaint we had was that a couple of nights we were there, we had a very strong sulphur smell from the laundry.

Staff were so lovely and accommodating. They made us feel so welcome and allowed us to checkout late with no drama at all. The room was excellent and clean. We wished we could have stayed another night. We will definitely stay here again.

The room was good but it was meant to be accessible, and in fact was not - it was doable but given it came up on a search for accessible and I could not access the ensuite bathroom and we had to move the bed across in back bedroom so I could use my gutter frame was challenging. Had I needed to stay in my powerwheelchair it would have been highly challenging. I understand they do have fully accessible units but just verify with Motel. Very friendly helpful and easy - loved the city lights view ( just would have liked to see them from the master bedroom! Thanks Fernz

We enjoyed our stay at ferns the staff and facilities are wonderful. The area is near to the cbd but very quiet. The staff were friendly in all interactions and the facilities were always clean making it really easy to spend lots of time with my 90 year old mum we look forward to returning in the near future

Lovely two bedroom apartment with stunning city view. The area around is quiet and all facilities are fairly new.
