Staff are very accommodating

Very clean and staff was accommodating.

We loved staying here. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The beds, especially the pillows, were a bit on the stiffer side, but everything else was super nice.

Welcoming, clean and comfortable. Great for an easy overnight stop

The property suited just fine for an overnight stay. We were unable to dine at the adjacent restaurant as they were having a Christmas function. However, there was a cafe open in the village.

The location suited us well. We had a larger room than requested which was a bonus. The complimentary cereal or toast in the morning was a great addition, unexpected. There were some aspects we cannot ignore; the broken soap dish in the shower had sharp edges and cut me when I slipped; the key to the door also opened the internal door to the adjoining room ... worrying if you were in the internal room; the cups and crockery could benefit from a good dishwasher wash. Nothing was that bad that we wouldn’t stay there again, but a few small improvements could really help.

Could not fault the fat owl, it was a beautiful little motel in a small country town. Friendly staff, beautiful gardens, lovely kitchen and all the amenities we needed. Loved the restaurant next door. Good value for money.

Quick stopover stay. Nice and cosy and clean. Good pub for dinner next door. Have stayed before and will stay again. Could do with a shelf or hooks in the bathroom but other than that it was fine.

We got back late from a adventure glow worm tour and we're exhausted. The staff made us pizza and brought it to our super comfortable room. That is seriously good karma points. Thank you

The bar and eatery are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Had to drive 14 miles each way to get dinner. We would have dined prior to arriving had we known. They need to make their dining hours known.

Very accomodating for our late arrival. Good breakfast. Very friendly and helpful.

Lovely little place - we booked a family room (2 rooms that interconnect) a little on the small side but great for just the one night and a bathroom per room was very handy. Other rooms (not interconnecting) looked much bigger. Food at the bar next door was very nice - massive portions! Friendly staff and great service.

I arrived a little late so I went to the bar to check in. The woman who checked me in was kind and asked if she should make me a dinner reservation. The food was SO good. I got the chicken and Brie burger. The room was clean and I felt very safe, parking was easy, and it has a nice grassy area. It was perfect and in a beautiful area!

Easy check in and comfortable rooms. Pleasant staff interactions. Only small problem is the noise created from the communal dining/kitchen adjacent to Room 1. Recommend only early risers/leavers placed in this room. Restaurant not open on the night we were there and only limited food options available for dinner in the town.

Didn’t notice sign on front door advising to call Dee’s cellphone on arrival as reception is unattended most time however once we checked in staff were very applying. Place was clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect for short stay, lovely and clean, very comfy beds. Staff are awesome but you do have to go find them (normally next door at restaurant) for check in.

My room was so warm and the bed really comfy. A nice stop over. was greeted by Nadia who was just the most lovely person.

The pub and restaurant was a big plus and the meals are quite nice

Fabulous 1 night stay, very friendly staff and excellent with the bar right there for evening meal and drinks

I loved everything about it. It was clean the beds were comfy the shower was awesome and the restaurant next door was beautiful and the food was delicious and the cocktails were exquisite.there was also a self help breakfast of cerial and toast which was unexpected and a nice surprise.nice country setting. Good place to stop of to break trip. 5 star

Good accommodation. Guests need to be aware that the Fat Owl Bar and Eatery is open Thu-Sun from 4pm. Fat Pigeon Cafe in town open till 4pm and kitchen closes at 2.30. Cossie Club also an option, though I'm not sure of its opening hours.

Love that it has the Bar a& Eatery which is why we stayed.

Nice beds

Friendly staff as i arrived quite late. No issues checking in late. There's a nice restaurant and bar beside the accommodation. Overall excellent experience. The motel is tidy and clean.

Nice enough accommodation, not really sure I would call it a motel, 10x rooms, 5x each side of a long hallway, rather than individual entries. Had a shared lounge/kitchen, which had continental breakfast food available. Only fridge was in the kitchen, so borrowed milk from there, as none in the room, but did have a kettle, coffee sachets and cups in the room. Restaurant attached to motel was convenient, but did not use.

Deiresa Ratima was very welcoming, friendly and extremely obliging in tailoring the accommodation to suit our needs by including a conducted tour of the facility to enable us to make an informed decision. Absolutely delighted with our stay. Thank you Deiresa and Owls Nest Motel.

A motel located in a small village in rural New Zealand. I have stayed here before and always find it clean, comfortable with friendly staff.

Very welcoming hosts. A basic, but comfortable room with en suite. And they provide breakfast too in the guest kitchen and lounge area.

The room was adequate for the purpose, however the menu for The Fat Pigeon in the motel room booklet needs to be updated. Room was very quiet and away from the main road.
