1have stay 3 times at the royal York ,it a lovely preserved hotel with nice staff, i will be staying a gain in the near future ALAN TOWILL
Charging $15 a day for wifi gouging $8.00 for a glass of orange juice Will look for another hotel next time in toronto
Interior is unique
Staff doesn’t treat you the same when you book through Expedia. Pay the extra and book through hotel
The workers walked into our room without knocking - very bad service
Always excellent at the Fairmont Royal York
Great
Whitout WiFi
Wifi extra charge: inacceptable
Already fantastic
Great beds
My only bad thing to say was there was no free Wi-fi in the rooms to plan the trip once we where at the hotel
We love staying at this iconic Toronto hotel. The hotel lobby is beautiful and timeless and the updates to the rooms are comfortable and classy. The pool was not open when we visited this time so we are looking forward to those improvements on our next stay.
Historic Property
Beautiful property. Super convenient location.
Doorman chastised me for not giving large enough tip.
Great staff, very respectful and accommodating
Wonderful stay!
Such an amazing hotel. The fact that wifi is not included in the price for your stay is a bit crazy. That wouldn’t stop me from staying again though.
Was a great visit. Very clean and people were pleasant
Great historic place. Close to everything, great staff.
.
Room is dated, thin walls, could hear the couple next door talking. They weren’t even talking loudly, but you could everything. Shower has no water pressure. Not the normal Fairmont standard.
Very beautiful filled with history and amazing beds
Always a preference while in Toronto
very nice!

Great service!!
This property reminds you of Home Alone during the Christmas time! I loved staying here, the beds were comfy and rooms were clean. I had a few complaints, the toilet was so close to the tub that you couldn't sit properly on the toilet. The flow water in the room was annoying it would finish so quick and when you order more they give 2 for free but the rest are 6 dollars each, most hotels just give water for free in my experience of travelling. Lastly, there was no free wifi, when your on the higher floors, the dates gets worse but I feel like in 2025 we should have free as many hotels do.
😮💨😮💨
Nice, clean rooms. Great location.
We enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Enjoyed my stay
Good
Fantastic food and drinks in Library Bar, easy walkie distance to Scotiabank Arena for Leafs game.
Wonderful hotel in the heart of downtown. Amazing staff and service. Very busy but added to the excitement of the holidays.
Unique building, lovely lobby/foyer. Great location. Not so great: no free wifi! ( whonwould of thought to ask? Its downtown toronto! Terrible) We had king room. Bed was good, but eoom was small, and not even a little fridge in it! Would of liked a fridge to keep drinks and leftovers from dinner cool.
Excellent!
Overall, the stay was enjoyable and plan on staying there again in the future. The hotel is beautiful. However, just a few small things kept us from giving 5 stars - the fire alarm woke us at just after 10 am and was ongoing for 20 or so minutes. Thankfully, it was a false alarm, but it was jarring to be woken up so suddenly. The shower in our luxury room was also a bit of a disappointment. The shower door didn't close properly, so the bathmat got soping wet. It was also difficult to maintain hot water and consistent water pressure. We also noted mold and/or dirt in the shower grout. We do look forward ro our next stay.
Property was nice. Room was nice too albeit dated and could use some refreshing. Room was also missing a hair dryer
AC is not working. Room was so warm dueingnour stay for 3 days
The Library bar was really cool!
It’s always been a beautiful place to stay! The service is amazing and the staff are incredibly friendly
We did a last minute getaway and have really wanted to stay here, it was everything we wanted and more. The people, the service, the food, the pool and the atmosphere just perfect!
The Royal York is a landmark of classic hotel architecture and service in the middle of glass-&-steel downtown Toronto. We used the PATH underground walkway as well as the local and regional public transit, and also the free shuttle from the downtown Billy Bishop airport. We found many great dining options in and around the hotel. Or stay was during the holidays and the hotel was beautifully decorated.
Was a great hotel in a great location. Very happy with everything.
Excellent stay
The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. We ordered room service for breakfast on our first morning and the food was excellent! It arrived early and was still hot when it got to us. Check in and out was a breeze and we were upgraded for free!
Beautiful hotel and the service was amazing. Comfortable beds and rooms, bathrooms were small but nice. Easy access to so many attractions, shopping and restaurants. Our room was near the elevator so a little noisy a few times through the night but overall a great stay.
Excellent service in all areas. Centrally located. Very festive fir holiday season
This hotel has wonderful old world ambiance. The restaurant and bars are great. The staff were quick, professional, friendly and helpful. Room was classically decorated. We had an accessible room - my only suggestion would be to upgrade the bathroom in the accessible rooms a bit and have ventilation. Also bathrobes were not in the room. Having said this, you could request them and they were provided in the change rooms at the pool. The proximity to the trains is ideal! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and plan to return.
Very pleasant staff
The hotel is definitely conveniently located, both by various transit options and being walkable around Downtown Toronto. There is also great history there in one place and I appreciated the mix and balance of modernization and historical decor. If you can afford it, the restaurants in the actual hotel are great as well. However, my major criticism is that the room walls are paperthin! We could hear people in the hallways and our neighbours all day and night. Word for word their conversations and noises. This made the experience pretty awful. Also, be mindful if you stay here, that there is a surcharge and fee per day for internet; something I find unusual for a hotel in this day and age. Overall, the hotel has charm and greatly located, but, if you want peace and quiet, you might want to reconsider another hotel.
A great location!
One of the most beautiful hotels I ever stayed out. The lobby area is stunning.
This historical hotel is stately and elegant. Staff are friendly and eager to please.
Like most everything ..food...staff is fabulous ..friendly Library bar is amazing...
The Best Vibe!
The Best Vibe!
The room service is amazing. Great atmosphere in the clock works bar.
Very lovely hotel. Great access to Unior Station and enjoyed not having to park and drive in downtown Toronto. Wish there was a bit more for kids as the pool are is small.
Not what i expected of a 5 start hotel rooms were small the bed were small not very conrftable no enough outlets in the room to charge our devicee and the cables were lise very updated rooms in my opinion.
I liked that you had easy access to the transit system (bus, train, subway.) I did not like that the price shown on Expedia was for only one room, and not two rooms, which had booked in advance.
Everyone was so great, I’m giving a review months later but the stay was incredible!
It’s the Fairmont - you get exactly what is expected.
As a frequent guest of the Fairmont, the consistency of excellence was most important to me. All staff interacted with were amazing. The room service breakfast was incredible. Thank you for another wonderful stay!
Great location. Great hotel. Just make sure you don’t have a car you need to park. $42 for 2 hours of parking.
I love the history and charm of the Royal York. It is a magnificent building to walk through. I loved the Christmas trees and reindeer.
Convenient and clean
The room was clean but on the smaller side. Luggage storage was very easy and convenient. Given that it was the holiday season, the lobby was very festive and had nice decorations.
First stay and it was an experience to remember. All of the staff were so kind and happy. The lobby was stunning in its Christmas glory and I slept like a baby.
The pool needs work. I stepped on a dry contact lens on the floor. No one in the room wears contacts. It was beautifully decorated and the staff were great.
Very nice hotel and staff very friendly at check in. However, line up to check in and out was exceedingly long and front desk was severely understaffed. Waited in line 45 minutes to check in at approximately 6pm. I am wondering if the hotel is doing time analysis because upstaffing during busy check in times and/or improved automation is required. Hotel clean and blackout curtains very high quality. Fitness area very clean and well maintained.
Nice hotel.
The location was great, within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The service staff was very friendly, and check-in was smooth. We enjoyed the excellent view of the CN Tower, and the lobby’s festive atmosphere and Christmas decorations added a nice touch. However, the room was relatively small for a family of four, with no option for two queen beds—only two double beds, which felt cramped. The bathroom was tiny, with no counter space, making it inconvenient. The sound insulation was not the greatest, as we could hear people in the hallways and adjacent rooms. The pool was small and consistently busy, and the room had a musky smell, possibly from the carpet or vents. Additionally, the hotel could use some renovations. While the overall experience was good, it would have been more exciting if the hotel had hosted a New Year’s countdown event or a lively celebration to make the night feel special.
Very nice old world hotel with excellent service and food. Although the rooms are lacking extra attention to furnishings and details. The hotel is striving to upgrade but given the size, this will take time. I am not dissatisfied just disappointed. This was not my first stay and sadly may be my last.
Stay for 2 nights over New years. Rooms are very dated. Staff at front desk not helpful and extremely rude. There are small charges for every little thing including $15.95 per person for wifi. I have not experienced this before staying in many Fairmount hotel across Canada. Would not recommend for the price paid
Great pool/hot tub. The steam room was relaxing. We love the Library Bar!
Place was great but room service had some issues
Good but room for improvement
Enjoyed my stay
The only thing we were not happy about was we could not get into any of the bars at 10:00 pm as they were all full and had a 45 minute wait. ?We walked back from an event at the Scotia centre planning on having a drink in the bar and we could not get in. This was very disappointing.
The Royal York is beautifully decorated for Christmas! All the staff are very pleasant to deal with.
It was convenient
A beautiful historic old hotel with modern rooms and gold club lounge. Spectator seasonal decorations. Don't get much better in down town Toronto
.
The staff was super friendly and helpful! My first time staying here and will definitely be staying again next time in Toronto
The bathroom in our suite was underwhelming, too small and worn.
We went with three kids was a great stay
Good location opposite Union Station.
Poor room service /
The toilet got plugged and the room smelled like poop for the entire stay, even after the toilet was unplugged. The room did not smell or look clean. Beds were not comfortable and walls were paper thin. Lobby was lovely and well decorated. Staff were great.
Staycation
My girls and I had a wonderful "staycation" for a night at the RY. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the beds were heavenly. The staff was helpful and proactive. My only complaint is the condition of the pool area, and specifically the hot tub. I think the whole area could use an update as it doesn't match the splendour of the rest of the hotel. Other than that, a wonderful stay!
great
Perfect location beautiful hotel top notch
Expensivo
The only down side to this property is the fact there is no adult only time for the pool and hot tub
The Gold floor is always amazing !
Excellent
Beautiful hotel❤️
Friendly staff, good proximity
The Royal York is a beautiful piece of Toronto history. We come here every Christmas for a night or two.
