Friendly check in, nice premises, comfortable light, clean, tidy room. Bar area and service good. Breakfast service took too long and was overcooked.

The hotel was a little dated tbf. The staff were excellent, professional, pleasant and extremely helpful. They made my stay 5☆ The light curtains in my room were ripped and there was a crack in the ceiling in the bathroom. Thats the only negative. The bed was extremely comfortable and the attention to detail of all the essential items including the bathroom were fantastic. Delicious food from room service, prompt and serving staff were brilliant. Great location to city although the current building of apartments etc outside spoils the immediate views. Thankyou

The room size and the view was not what i expected

Sadly a very disappointing stay and lacks any of the charm and panache of other hotels that we’ve stayed at. We’ve stayed at Fable Auckland several times and there’s no comparison in room size, comfort, bed and decor. This is not a luxury hotel, the room was horribly cramped and soulless and the coffee undrinkable. Our main gripe was the heating as they have the system locked to Central so you can’t alter the temperature. We rang several times as it was unpleasantly cool but despite several attempts by reception to unlock this option, it remained on cold air. It is a basic not a luxury to have your room at a chosen pleasant temperature, even more annoying when you pay a premium and have an expectation when staying in a Fable hotel. Glad it was for just two nights and would not return here and will not choose this hotel chain again.

Rooms were nice but very small. Great central location and good nearby food options. Fire alarm went off at 1am. It was a false alarm but there was no communication to the guests at all. Wasted an hour trying to figuyout if it was real or out.

Good stay with a couple of exceptions. Price list for in room snacks was in the drawer. We opened the small bottle of wine left by the coffee maker thinking it was complimentary and then discovered it was actually $40. We would have appreciated to have the list posted visibly. Gym was very small so we skipped it. There was a false fire alarm in the middle of the night and we received no communications/instructions from staff. We concluded on our own that it was false alarm but a number of people exited and got stuck in the stairways which resulted in confusion and some yelling by other guests trying to get them out. Apart from that our stay was good. Location great and the room well appointed and comfortable.

First stay at Fable Christchurch

The fire alarm was on going after midnight when I needed to evacuate in front of my room had huge housekeeping trolley block way all night! I called the reception but no one answered. I went stairs and walked down but other people were going back to their rooms so I went back to my floor again but not able to open the door because it was locked. So I went down stairs again and went to the reception but no one explained anything no apologies. Finally I got back to the room around 1:30am. :( The room was clean except coffee bench. The wall had damaged. I wish inside the gym had water fountain would be nice as I love sauna! This hotel prepared for my request small gift was very nice. :) Thank you very much!

Not sure about the standard inclusions but we didn’t get a bottle of water in the room. I assume that they were fully booked as we didn’t get a room upgrade

Very central and well maintained hotel. Only issue was the parking which was not included in cost and was then an issue to organise although plenty of parking options were available.

The Fable hotel is a beautiful hotel in a great location. The staff was professional and helpful.

Nice, clean hotel. The breakfast options should be clarified when booking as there are two types of breakfast. We booked continental which did not include the entire breakfast buffet.

Fabulous hotel right in the heart of everything Christchurch has to offer . Tram station right next door , quiet despite being in middle of everything .

It was great except for the parking. You had to remember to pay for parking, no designated parking spot for guests.l, unless you wanted to pay extra too for valet.

Hotel was very nice. I would of appreciated some compensation for being made to stand on the footpath for over an hour at 3am, but oh well.

Very central, well built hotel

We really enjoyed our stay and staff made excellent recommendations for dinner and places to see. The bar offers fresh juice of local fruits in the lobby for all hours. Nice for Uber access and near the trolley pick up spot and Regent street which offers many food choices.

Everything was very good quality, the bed was amazing, nice and clean. Just heads up for the breakfast sale. When you guys offer the colonial breakfast make sure in same page online have option for the full breakfast also that way not gets customer disappointed ahaha but very nice place in all

The dispensers in the bathroom did not work, I tried everything. The cost for parking was expensive I didn’t know about the free one next door

Smaller Room Size

Room wasn’t what I expected in that is was small and smelly. It’s not bad just not a normal 4-5 star experience and I thought Fable was this.

Really nice property with well appointed rooms with nespresso coffee and minibar for purchase. large bathroom and shower. comfortable bed. parking is valet parking. at times not enough staff at front desk which led to waits. Also only 2 elevators so when busy some waits

Property was clean, bed was comfortable, facilities provided was adequate. Water pressure for the shower was inadequate and trickling water. Not enough information given during check in, wifi etc, most hotels would share these basic information while checking in. Bonus was there was a coffee machine in the room with nepresso capsules. Parking was available however at an extra cost of $35, if not you had to park at the public carpark for $23 for overnight parking till 11am, definitely not $20 for a whole day like mentioned on the website. Car park was on a dirt road and did not have security cameras so had to walk to one further away with cameras and lights. Lots of food options nearby within walking distance which was good.

Stayed just one night. Seamless check-in and check-out well appointed rooms.

Fable is a really well located hotel in the middle of the CBD and the only one i came back to twice in the same trip which says a lot! The first visit there i got a bit of a crap room (all hotels have those and they were fully booked so can't really blame em) but they fixed this on my next visit a couple of days later and i got a room with a fantastic view. The highlight of the place is the little things. Like the thoughtfully laid out room fittings to the welcome bottle of wine which they gave me as per my request on the second time i was there. The room is also comfortable and well stocked and the climate control probably worked better than most hotels I've been in. If there was only a few things i wish they would do is, put in a Bluetooth speaker in the room for me to stream music to, and change the showers, because they have no hand held option which just feels very weird for a place that is otherwise so well put together.

It was lovely to have a clean room with comfortable bed. Thanks to the girls. Our meal was lovely. But most important, catching up with my eldest daughter, who have not seen for a few years. Wonderful.

Room was alittle on the small side for two people,when I had a friend on his own on the floor below in a more spacious room..other than that was cleaned to a good standard every day..

Fable was a pleasant surprise and was well located and had a very luxurious vibe. Looking forward to staying again next time I visit chch.

Great location, lovely staff, pity about the lifts. With only two lifts servicing 20 floors and no service elevator for the staff, between competing for a lift with housekeeping and tour groups, you can easily wait 10 minutes just to get one to your floor only to find it full. Stairs not an option. With more lifts this would be another five star Fable.

Absolutely LOVE it! Fable did not disappoint. The room was lovely, clean and cosy. Loved the bed and comfortable pillows, had the best sleeps every night. Hotel is handy to local bars, restaurants and cafes all within walking distance. The Fable is situated in a very convenient spot close to everything, shops and galleries and the Cathedral. I highly recommend and would stay there again. Thank You, Fable for such a lovely stay. Oh forgot to mention if you hire a car there is Park Mate and Wilson Parking less than 40 seconds away from the hotel, cheaper than valet parking at the hotel.

A perfect room and stay. Beats most overseas hotels we have stayed at. Very quiet, good lighting, good internet, plenty of sockets, comfortable bed, good and quiet heat pump system, plenty wardrobe space and drawers. Robes and slippers. Floor space was a wee bit tight but perfectly fine. Right across the street from New Regent street with all its dining options and tram. On a whim decided to go to the Theatre across the street. Perfect. So very walkable to everything Christchurch has to offer. Only thing on the downside was a bit of a long wait for the lefts/elevators...but we were on holiday, not rushing off to a conference so it wasn't a big deal.

Fable properties are usually unique and special, but this was ultra-ordinary with indifferent service. Situated in a convenient location it's probably good for business travellers but completely lacks character and atmosphere.

The girl working the evening of Oct 12th around 6 30pm was short with me and barely looked up when I was asking about some questions related to check-out - not very good customer service. Also, the body wash wasnt refilled when I checked- in to the room. Luckily I had my own. I informed the house keeping staff the following day and it was again missed out when the room was serviced. Lastly, they only have nespresso coffee in the room and every morning I had to go downstairs to buy coffee as the room did not have regular instant coffee and I do not like nespresso. This is was inconvenience.

I recently stayed at Fable Hotel in Christchurch and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel is in a very handy location, making it convenient for exploring the city. The staff were friendly, and the setup was clean and inviting. I appreciated the complimentary coffee, but I was surprised that there was no complimentary water. However, I found the room to be quite small, and as I spent a fair amount of time in it, the lack of brightness was noticeable. Additionally, the corridors had a bit of an unpleasant smell, which was off-putting. On a positive note, the shower was clean and worked well, which made my stay more comfortable. Despite a few drawbacks, I would consider staying here again due to its convenient location and the overall good experience.

Staff were fantastic, great service all around from reception to house keeping.

The after hours menu is appalling. The breakfast is worse. NZ$38 for a ‘full’ breakfast with very limited choices, don’t expect a full buffet, extra for proper coffee if you can get anyone to make one, and extra for special order eggs. It’s clean and located well but has been going downhill over the last few years.

Staff were friendly and their service was of high standard. Room was good and had great coffee and amenities.

Great room and service

The staff were great, but the room was noisy overnight, with what sounded like people trying to enter the rooms. There was someone else’s lip balm left in the bathroom. Just little things that would have made it a better stay.

Tidy hotel close to convention centre

A handy location close to the Te Pae convention centre. The hotel is fine and clean with a mix of permanent apartment residents and guest rooms. The room was well appointed and tidy if small, and the bathroom was good. The breakfast facilities leave quite a lot wanting. I would not recommend the continental breakfast at all.

Modern, very clean and very comfy. Rooms were a good size and walking distance to numerous dining options and shopping. $10 overnight parking in the little parking area right beside the motel. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Third time staying at this hotel. On arrival we asked for our car to be parked only to be told there was no room and to use the public parking space close to the hotel. Disappointing as we would have expected secure parking to be available as it had been in the past.
