The spa was amazing. All restaurants were good. Coffee shop and buffet breakfast were great. The concierge in the main reception was very helpful. Loved the outdoor area of swim up room. The only downside for us was the very musty smell of our clothes, bags, cases etc when we returned home.

Fantastic place, food, beach amazing, staff duper friendly. Only thing we didnt like was that we were supposed to get a free upgrade "if available". Well lets just say that the place wasnt anywhere near that many people and when asked if any upgrades they said no.

My first time at an adult only, all inclusive resort. I loved it and would go again. The service, staff and accommodations were top notch. Especially the staff who were so friendly and attentive. We booked a couples massage in the spa. It was incredible. I’ve never experienced such luxury.

I left Excellence Playa Mujeres two nights early because I felt unwelcome, uncomfortable, and disappointed by the resort’s failure to deliver a five-star experience. My first room was noisy, located near staff workspaces and walkways, with staff yelling, carts rattling, and people using my patio as a shortcut. The phone barely worked, the shower had no hot water, and the room was dusty and shabby. When I was locked out of my room, it took almost 30 minutes for help to arrive and hours to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, I was stranded and unwell with a migraine. Despite explaining all this, the resort’s response was slow, unapologetic, and dismissive. The second room wasn’t much better, with drains making loud noises, a dirty bathtub upon arrival, and lukewarm water. The food was underwhelming, with overcooked fish at two restaurants. The resort app didn’t work throughout my stay, and the service was inconsistent at best. Having been to other luxury resorts, I was shocked at the poor quality here. I tried to resolve these issues onsite, by phone, and by email, but the resort has effectively ghosted me. If you have any problems during your stay, don’t expect accountability or fair compensation.

We’ve been going to this resort for eight years and it looks like they have cut back on a few things. The Spa was redone, but they didn’t allow you to use all the facilities to do your water treatment. New Year’s Eve was cut back tremendously. We were very disappointed. The food was good, Service was pretty good. I think they were short on help.

Gone downhill

We were returning to the hotel (this was our third time there). It was as we remember except the food seems to have gone downhill quite a bit. And it was hard to get any non well liquor (I mostly drink tanqueray and they kept selling out I was told). Also the pool bar staff really don’t like making the more complicated drinks — beers no problem.

We didn't like: lack of premium liquor and beer, and no 24/7 ability to get liquor, not all the bars had all the alcohol, room temperature wouldn't go lower than 68, hair and chlorine tablets in the hot tubs by the pool that wasn't hot. We liked: staff A especially Fabian and Jesus and bartender Cesar, food options, activity options, staff created the amazing vibe, and the ambiance of the property.

This was our first time staying at an adults-only property, and we absolutely loved it! The only improvement we’d suggest is enhancing the night entertainment. The staff at the resort were incredible, always going above and beyond. The rooms were beautiful, and the balcony with the outdoor flatbed was the perfect spot for a relaxing 5 p.m. nap. The gym and the instructor were fantastic as well. Truly a 5-star experience! Celebrating 31 years of marriage.

Overall a great time other than we didn't get our romantic dinner. We went for our honeymoon and were suppose to get a romantic dinner, so we signed up for one. We stayed for a week December 16-22, the hotel is absolutely amazing. Basically they create an experience where nothing is bothering you. From the transportation (200$ is well worth the private suv roundtrip!) to the amazing food, quiet rooms and fulfilling pretty much any needs you may have. We will definitely be back next year! Really nothing to say except EXCELLENT!!

The service was inconsistent. I had to call them a few times to reload the little fridge in the room, to bring body wash and coffee cups. They service the room but do not always reload the items which ran out. Once they forgot about us in the restaurant- took our order and didn’t bring out our food for 40 minutes. It looks like minor things but in my opinion for 5 starts hotel is unacceptable. The rest was good. The food is delicious. I would recommend to have a buffet for lunch that they didn’t.

The resort was good and everything was as most reviews say that I read. It is a resort that I will definitely consider for future trips to Cancun. The only thing that I would say that needs some improvement on is room service. I got hungry late, early morning and tried calling room service, which is reportedly 24 hours. Never got an answer. Even had front desk call. The restaurants are good, even for a picky eater like myself. Always able to find something that I would eat. Service was great with an exception of The Lobster House, our server Antonio was awesome.

My only criticism would be that the food/dining system seems a little bit disorganized. Room service meals take 30-45 mins which seems fairly long. Out on the pool areas, sometimes the snack menu items were not available and I saw a few people get annoyed by that. Our meals when we dined in also took quite some time to come to the table. No big deal but it was noticeable. Everything was wonderful and we can’t wait to come back next year!

Had a wonderful stay! We would come again. Food was good, pools are well maintained. The jacuzzi in the room wasn’t clean (I think I have seen comments from others saying the same thing on different websites and Facebook) but otherwise everything else was perfect. Had an amazing time here for my Honeymoon, the food was amazing and there were so many options. They also had a vegan menu for every restaurant as well! My only complaint was there was no night activities. All the bars and activities closed at 10:45 pm every night, so if you’re looking for some night life this is not the place for you! Everything else was amazing. The beach was great, staff was always on top of getting drinks and they were so friendly. Would stay here again!

This was our first time at EPM and it likely won’t be the last! We really enjoyed our time there and the food and drinks were excellent! The only negative is that we felt the rooms are showing their age and really should be remodeling and refreshed. The hot tub in the room was dirty and we honestly didn’t feel comfortable using it. There was also an “adult XXX” channel in the channel lineup on our TV that, even though this is an adults-only property, seemed a little cheap and unnecessary for an upscale resort. Overall it was absolutely a relaxing wonderful time and I’m sure we will be back!

Excellence is a solid 4*. The all inclusive, adults only atmosphere is nice, grounds are beautifully decorated, food was very good, for the most part drink and food service was fast. We arrived at the property in the morning and were able to enjoy the property including breakfast and lunch before our check-in time. Here is where it is lacking - you can tell the rooms are getting worn, we had a dinner reservation that we were 10 minutes late to and it was not honored, but was remedied best possible, we were out of our room from 10am-4pm with the "please clean our room" tag on the door, it was not cleaned or restocked, we had to call for housekeeping. No complimentary spa services like when we have stayed at LeBlanc before. Overall, in my opinion the value for the money is not there for this resort and I doubt we will be back. We will try a different one next time or go back to LeBlanc where you get a higher quality of service and more complimentary amenities.

If you are going as a couple to have a getaway this is the hotel for you! If your case, like mine, is to have a group organized for an special occasion, i recommend you to look elsewhere. The whole process is very unpersonal and you are always dependent on a template answer, they do not care about the customer and are willing to cancel reservations last minute, do not reply emails and even when on site, no one took accountability. This made the whole experience bittersweet and very hard to enjoy and prompted us to expose this as no traveler should go through this. One important call out is that the staff on site try to compensate for all the previous challenges and they excel at it! The staff of the hotel is outstanding and they will go above and beyond to make every experience unique, Naomi and Paula made everything in their power, and then some, to make sure that us and every guest made perfect memories from this trip.

First time in Cancun and first time at this property. I understand why many folks seem to come back for more. Our stay was magical! The food and drinks were delicious. All of the staff was super nice and accommodating. I would say this should be your choice if you're looking to enjoy a nice and quiet vacation. It's a little far from the "town" so cab prices are high if you plan on doing some exploration outside of the resort. We only left once during our stay to visit Isla Mujeres, and although it was beautiful, it was very busy. Truly made me appreciate the location and resort so much more for its peace and calmness.

Disappointing

I went tô Excellence Riviera Cancún Douro years ago was perfect, because of it i go tô another Excellence Hotel. Was disappointing. I take the Excellence Club, and do not value the money, the Club smelled bad and there was nothing tô eat with the drinks. Most of the restaurants have a common food. In fact the hotel is much expensive for the things it gives. Exception tô Heidi, that make the beach service and Vilma the manager of foods and drinks

I enjoyed the entertainment especially Mex night. The pool was very nice to relax by. My drinks were a bit watered down. I really wish there was more authentic mexican food available. Also more headphones for silent disco. Also more shopping and affordable souvenirs as the gift shop was a bit pricey. Fernanda at Lobster house was wonderful and so was Fabian who conducted water aerobics.

It was disappointing at check in. We paid for an ocean front suite with rooftop pool. At check in we received an ocean view room. After 2 days they had the correct room for us. There was quite a different price difference but we have not be reimbursed! It is Lao a hassle to have to change rooms and wait for one to be ready to go into. Again, I feel we need money/ credit back on the building and room change.

I liked the cleanliness of the property. I didn't like the lack of entertainment, the food was luke warm, at best, at most of the restaurants. I prefer my meals to be served hot when they arrive at my table.

We did NOT receive what we paid for at Playa Mujeres, Mexico in upgraded experiences or facility. The following were major issues within our two story, plunge pool club suite: 1- Roof WATER LEAKAGE within our room on the landing steps from the rooftop into the room 2- WATER LEAKAGE above bed from air conditioning unit 3- WATER LEAKAGE in area of the hot tub within the room 4- Plunge pool water fall from the wall NEVER worked 5- Plunge pool needs cleaning; the plunge pool has a ring on the pool closest to the stairs facing the courtyard We have not received a response from customer service of Excellence Collection/Excellence Resorts.

I really don't see why people return time after time. Pros: staff was outstanding and the food at some places was above average. Con: was never told the kitchen table was closed due to renovation so was not happy with that at all. They had buffet style at Agavue but not the same as the kitchen table, In the week we where there we had one drink served to us while at our swimout on the Excellence side while we where out on the bed. I would of loved to be served drinks like the people across the lazy river where getting drinks and food, very dissapointing. Not cool for paying more to have that option in the excellence club side in building 8 and only using it once the entire week, never got anything for my husbands birthday (no banner or cake) and we mentioned it 3 or 4 times. Never got our last day monkey drink or our nightly petti fors. Our concierge was good when she was there but we where forgot about when she was gone and had a day off. Not her fault but whoever was the concierge on her off days should have treated us the same as she did. Not very impressed by that. All in all a good resort and the staff make it special but other than that it is a resort just like so many other resorts. Will not return but would be on my 2nd to the top list for a return trip. Paying extra for Excellence club need not be done since it really didn’t make a difference in our case.

Great resort and food. Unfortunately, everything is catered towards couples. Not very many options to accommodate our group of 16, dinners were often split into different tables and pool and beach loungers were not made for group settings. In addition, every bar closes at midnight and the resort shuts down. No place to hang out and there is a sound ordinance if you play your music in your room after hours. We did not do our research for groups, other than that it is an amazing resort with exceptional service.

Good place overall to stay. Some parts were under construction during our stay, but didn’t impact us to much. Like the dinner places but wished there was more poolside services for food. Also, excellence package was okay to purchase for us but didn’t see to much value. Lighting in room was not ideal in the 2 story villa, wish there was lighting on the 2nd floor at night to enjoy it. Thanks so much for the stay!

Rey was the nicest guy on check in and checkout. Food was fair, resort ran out of Coors beer more than once. Property was dated with out door furniture being dated and a lot of old paint chips laying around. Hot tub did not work ,Overall enjoyed our stay, but probably won't be back.

Wonderful food and property. Entertainment was a little lacking from the last time. It felt like B rated entertainment with little do other then the pool and beach. This was our second time here and the first time the entertainment was better. We would still come back. The quiet and slow pace were just what we were looking for.
