Affordable price and conditions good enough for the price
Could not be more convenient location for us! Right in little Italy and across the street from Chinatown. Also walking distance to downtown and the pier (if you don't mind walking 30 min) Very vibrant area! Building itself feels like a 1980s hostel. Rooms were smaller than my bedroom and the sink for the bathroom was not even in the bathroom but in the bedroom. There was a microwave and fridge however and staff were friendly and helpful.
Pretty cozy, not many amenities and you have to pay extra for a both room, but can't beat the price still!
Good customer service
Location location location was awesome! Right in front of China town and two block from little Italy.
Last resort, but it worked out ! Could use some renovations
Poor Hotel, go to an other place
Very bad bed, very loud and dirty
No good. Bathroom really little
For the price, it’s pretty good. The room and bathroom are clean. I stayed here because it was close to a concert venue. I got what I wanted: a clean and cheap room
Fair
Let me start with how bad the bed was. Really uncomfortable. Pay a little extra. Waking up with back pain is not worth it. There was no heater. So we were cold all night. The second night we could hear the neighbors all night. They were a bit loud but the walls don’t cancel the noise at all. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.
Better than I thought it would be. Could be a tad bit cleaner but wasn’t really bad at all.highly recommend Getting a private room with private bathroom. PLEASE INVEST IN AN ELEVATOR
Perfect location and if you just need a bed, hot water, and clean sheets. If you are looking for anything more this is not for you. Staff was really nice and helpful, would totally come back again if/when on a quick trip to the city. The location is the best part about it.
Everything I needed was close by friendly environment
Bare Bones & Basic
I expected this place to be pretty basic and it did not disappoint on that. The room was clean and I felt safe. While the bed was not the most comfortable and the sheets are pretty thin, the comforter helped. The biggest surprise was that there were no towels in the bathroom and shampoo & bar soap came in plastic pouches. I had to ask the front desk for towels - and they only supplied large bath towels; no hand towels. Great location North Beach and good price. Good if you're ok with a bare bones basic room, no frills, and at a pretty low price.
Okay
Check in was fast, room was small but very clean, TV didn’t work and the bed was super uncomfortable, super loud from the springs and no blankets or anything. Great location and fun area, bed was just super uncomfortable and walls were thin. I’d stay again TBH just cause of the location but hopefully get a better bed and TV next time
Not a safe place to stay. Horrible place ever seen.
Worst property I have ever stayed at. The location is decent due to being walking distance to China town and little Italy, but this place is dirty and scary, should be free to stay here for people desperate to find a place to stay
UNCOMFORTABLE BUT VERY CHEAP IN PRICE
It was cheap but i didnt like it in some ways. The room had not a/c, heater, the bed was old with a spring mattress that was very noisy and uncomfortable. The towels smelled really good and clean.
So dirty and smelling very badly, lots of smells of smoke, room conditions very bed. It's totally bad will never suggest to this property 😕😞
bad staff
This was my second time staying at the Europa. It is the perfect location for my needs and the price is great. It does not have a fancy facade, the entrance and hallways are old and not well maintained and the rooms are very basic. I'm fine with basic and my bed and towels were clean, the bed was comfortable, there was a mini fridge and microwave, tv, wifi everything I need. Don't go there expecting fancy, but if you just need a basic clean place to sleep in a good neighbourhood, it's a great choice. I would definitely stay there again.
Not sleeping well
Pro: Very close to North Beach. You got San Francisco night life. Shared shower room is okay. Better than most other hostels’ shared shower room. Con: Very noice. A street singer singing on the cross street. Lots of traffic made noice. Calm down after 3 AM. No AC. My room’s TV is dead. No blanket. Just a flat sheet on the bed. One time experience is enough for me. Will not come back again.
Hotel is fine but due to its location it's too noisy outside and there's a parking. You need to leave your car at a parking garage that charges by the hour.
The staff was great. However, the room and bedding smelled bad. There were no pillowcases.
Hotel room was very dirty. Hotel staff wasn’t friendly.
The room was perfect for that one night we had to stay.
Worked for what we needed. No frills, very basic. We had a bed, refrigerator, microwave and a private bathroom. No ac, no coffee maker, no chair, and no nightstand. Not a lot of room for your suitcase. The hotel is old, but our room was clean and we were on the quiet side of the hotel so that was nice.
It is the best location. Everything is accesible and centric. Lots of dinning options. Never felt unsafe.
it feels unsafe and there was a construction. smells dirty all over the place.
Low rating (**) is not an excuse for dirt, cocroaches, run down property. Tiny room with filthy window that could not open and facing a dirty, pigeon infested wall. Not even a chair or small table in the room. Cheap bed, old fridge and even older microwave plus cheap shelf. No fan (forget A/C).
Ok...where to begin. Fantastic location if you like being in the thick of restaurants, walking to north beach. Fab locals. Next door to the oldest bar in SF, which has live bands everynight. Not the place to stay for peace and quiet. No 8 bus stops right outside. Walk to china town. Bad bits...currently a building site, rooms are tired and basic but you get a fridge/microwave which saves a fortune. Towels and beds are clean. Showers are hot but its old and basic. I'd stay there again. May not be posh enough for some. No lift, no pool. Staff are helpful
No air-conditioned toilet isn't working well. No elevator. Not for seniors like us..
One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed. It was a total mess with bits of plaster on the floor in the hallway, dirty linen on the bed, a view of a trashcan right outside window until I moved room, holes in the wall, dirty shower curtain. Absolutely awful hotel.
It is a Hostel, or at least Hostel-like. Only bath towels provided, and no blankets were on the bed; though blankets they provided when we asked. No soap in any dispensers. Hopefully you bring a fully stocked toiletries bag.construction on property on-going. Staff were nice and easy to talk to.
The room was very clean Showers and restrooms were clean
Stayed one night at Europa Hotel. I booked last-minute and it was nearly the only hotel available because there was a major convention on in the city. That meant I paid an outrageous amount for a very basic room, but it did the job. Pretty basic place but good location and the staff are helpful enough. If it’s cheap then it’s a good option.
Good
It’s a walk up and I am a 75y/o senior with ankle issues. My room had a slight incline . No heating or air conditioning unit.
PROS: Great place for the price. It's a great location, there's no homeless in the area and to many places around to list. I stayed in 2 different rooms and both were very clean. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The price was so low that I expected way worse...I rented a room for a "1 night test," and was very please, so i rented another room for 2 more nights. CONS: $500 Deposit "EXCEPT" when useing a credit card. There's a strip club next door but it's not really loud, its about as loud as having the tv on, and I had the window opened the whole time, so it really wasn't bad at all. I rented a room with a private bathroom so i cannot speak on the shared bathrooms, but they're seperate, a boys and a girls, each at different ends of the hallway. I did see a family with kids, and all the other people I crossed paths with there, were very laid back and likable. Highly recommended, especially for the location, everything is within a few blocks and no homeless around.
Great place just to stay for the night. Very convenient spot and many places around to go to all in a good walking distance. Would come again
Had a good experience. The shared bathroom was the only thing I wasn’t hugely stoked on because they were out of shampoo and body wash, but that’s just a minor complaint. It felt safe, was clean and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.
This is a budget hotel so it's not fancy but it's adequate. My room was clean and had everything that I needed. It was very handy to come and go and an easy walk to the places I needed to go. There are a lot of really great restaurants close by, and a nice mix of inexpensive to fancy. I felt safe. The part that was not great was how noisy it was
Loved it here! Seriously we had a corner room and it was excellent!
Cheap in price and quality
For how cheap it was, I wasn’t expecting much. It wasn’t even worth that low price. The room had no AC and it felt like it was above 80° in the room until about 2:30am despite outside temperatures in the low 60’s. My room was also directly above a strip club and I could feel the bass of the music through the floor until around 2:30am. I simply needed a place to sleep for the night and it couldn’t adequately provide that for me. The room also smelled faintly like stripper perfume.
Amenities says there is quenn bad in room but actually it's twin size
You get what you pay for. Building is old, room was slightly sloped, but fridge and shower worked. Very well located for walking access to downtown.
I liked the hospitality, but the place is too noisy

Not bad at all!
Very old hotel, have to drag your luggage up the stairs but it is in great location. Walking distance to the Pier 39 and China town. Shower was nice and clean and beds surprisingly comfortable. I would request the bathroom in the room, can’t imagine using public restroom/shower.
Im a solo female traveler and always stay here. Its very safe and next to everything. Its in a very nice bustling neighborhood with a lot of restaurants and bars. Great for younger people without families. The only thing is there is loud music playing from the club next door all night. You cant get any better hotel for the price in SF!
Great place to stay for the price and the staff were incredibly nice and accommodating.
Nice location
This is the worst place I’ve ever stayed and they don’t have the rooms they advertised online. If you stay here be ready to have unknown bacteria on the shower curtain. And there’s no A/C. When you opened the window there’s the next person. Your stuff can easily be stolen. This place is so nasty
The room is comfortable and great air from the huge wi does. No AC at all but that’s fine if you are planning your day to tour the city and be back in the evening where the room are much cooler. Right next to pizza, ice cream, Mexican food, bar, everything!!!! Loved it. And China town literally eye view across the street light!!!
The front desk clerk was very helpful.
Great location
Clean room and bathrooms! Had a window view and right in the middle of Chinatown!!
Very pleased with my room as I requested same room as last time I stayed and was accommodated!! Thank you. It is so Easy checking in after 11pm with quick friendly service. Returning guest to this clean, comfortable hotel surrounded by nightclubs and loud music all night long which I enjoy and why I will return again soon
I didn’t read the description well enough, but this placed has shared bathrooms. You don’t have a bathroom or shower in the rooms(at least not the room I booked). You get a bed and a sink. The bed has minimal bedding/sheets. Minimal staff, but the staff I would approach for help were friendly. I was looking for the cheapest option for my stay in SF and I got what I paid for.
Centrally located no frills hotel.
Air conditioning was poor, felt very warm and inconvenient.
It’s convenient for transportation and looking for foods.
It’s nice just kind of loud
The location is safe and convenient. The room is spacious and clean. The staff is very nice.
They don’t have enough towel in room and no air conditioner in room
The room was super Hot and there is no any good ventilation. Also the bed doesn’t has blanket .
There was no air. Literally it was muggy and stagnant. The place was a jail cell. It was super scary. You have to walk up a flight of stairs to get there. You have to pay separate at a parking garage. I had to ask for a fan. Just absolutely awful.
No phones in room sometimes noisy depends on the day...NO elevator
It was a decent place to stay that was a cheap option. shared bathroom. Mens was recently renovated and nice. anything you plug into the wall falls out because the outlets are so old lol. Its got a bit of a funk to it but our room was clean and the location was pretty solid.
Pleasant stay, very Clean which is a Plus for me
Not for women
This is not a place for any woman
Surrounded by great restaurants, queen room w/ private bathroom, bathroom was recently remodeled for sure.
Nice laid back hotel in a vibrant neighborhood.
I must say, it was definitely worth the price. You get what you pay for. In my opinion however, if you’re staying for more than one night i’d recommend getting something with AC because this hotel does not have any. I also had to sleep with a thin sheet as a cover (reasonable considering there’s no AC). In turn, if you’re worried about comfortability, i’d book elsewhere unless you’re staying for one night only
Im a solo female traveler. This is my favorite SF hotel. Its super affordable and safe to walk around. Theres a lot of things to do in the area. The staff was also super accomadating.
Great north beach location. Good size rooms fairly priced. Plenty of food, coffee, shopping right outside the door.
I checked into this hotel, and it wasn’t until less than two hours later I wanted to leave. The hotels located next to the strip club. Soon as we enter the hotel, it was very dirty, once we entered the bedroom, the hot water didn’t work, there was music blasting from beneath us, possibly from the building next-door. There was a clicking noise that continued increase in loudness as a time progressed, one towel was provided for two guests, and the room itself was dirty. A little less than two hours passed by and we decide we do not want to stay here anymore, we go to the front desk and see if we can get a refund, but we were declined. don’t come here horrible service, horrible location, unsafe conditions.
Groovy
The staff was very respectful during my stay and did everything they could to have a great experience in the area. The are is absolutely amazing because it is centered in the middle of the best districts in San Francisco. The hotel was quiet and peaceful but if you wanted to go enjoy the city’s fun nightlife- all you had to do was walk outside and decide weather to walk left or right. There are several historical bars/saloons within walking distance that have live bands every night that the locals like to go
Really bad I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I would give no star if I could
Great value for cleaning room with very good location in san Francisco thanks a lot
No shampoo or soap provided, however it was clean and quiet despite being in a noisy part of town. No hot water was not super fun, but I would stay here again.
Cleanness
.
A star of a stay
A jewel of a facility, convenient with friendly staff
Great location, terrible inside.
Very economical, excellent location, and that’s a major plus. BUT rude staff, terribly old furniture, terribly noise and uncomfortable bed. All felt dirty and things half worked. I paid for the room with private bathroom, I can only imagine how much worse the cheaper no bathroom rooms are.
.
No hot water
The staff was kool but the room omg they only had a sheet on my bed it’s was hot in the room there was no hot water in the morning dude it was not a pleasant stay!!
You're not in SF for the room
Room was small but clean and well-lit. The bed was comfy. (That's pretty much all we needed... we don't take a trip to SF to stay in the room, after all!) The one issue we had was the very low water pressure/flow in the shower, but the building is old so the plumbing is probably par for the course.
It was bracking.
Payed for the room , but did not stay stay there. Area did not look dafe and the hotel was worse. Specially with families stay away.
Very nice!
I liked it a lot the stuff is good
The property is a bit old with an old smell. The last night that we were there people were so loud around 12 midnight I couldn't get enough sleep for my 5am flight. I would stay here next time just if am really going to party since it's close to some cool Places.
The photo of this property does not reflect the actual place. Room and bathroom was extremely small. Bathroom sink in a space that made washing face for a large adult impossible.
Nice stay
Put my family from Germany up in this hotel for 2 nights so they could explore SF and get shuttle to SFO. They found the room a bit small but comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly. Wi-Fi worked well. Was good location to walk to Chinatown, pier 39 and fisherman wharf.
I don't like this hotel at all. I had to carry my luggage ti upstairs and its a old building just made it to a hotel
Good

Location could not be better! Located right in Little Italy and literally across the street from Chinatown. Downtown is about a 15 min walk (downhill). The property itself is a bit run down-or full of character depending on who you ask. Its a bit like a 1980s hostel. Rooms are small as well. But the price is good and location is perfect. Staff are friendly and helpful too.
