The property looked beautiful on the pictures but did not live up to the expectations. On the positive side - the hotel was very clean and the front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. Now the negatives: the pillows were lumpy, the room on the third floor was extremely hot with no air coming in even with windows open, the upgraded “Mountain View” room had mostly a view of the streets around the hotel (our second room with a “standard” view had a better view), the coffee at breakfast was horrible, and the $25 lunch boxes we ordered from the hotel were inedible. For the price we paid, we expected more from the hotel.
Friendly staff , attentive. Great view. Breakfast was great.
The desk and restaurant staff were highly professional, effective, and efficient. Specifically, we would like to name and thank them again, they are: Nico, Marcelo, Stepan at the front desk, and Fabricio at the Restaurant.
The hotel is perched on a small hill overlooking the beautiful lake, it’s a 6 min walk from the Main Street. The area is safe. We arrived at the hotel with a booking of a Mountain View, I enquired about the cost for the lake view and we got a free upgrade without asking. The staff were wonderful and friendly. Breakfast was great, the scrambled eggs were not out of a pack. The fruits were fresh and the croissants delicious. The room was huge with the most gorgeous views. No ac but it’s not needed, you can open the windows.
Nice welcoming staff, good breakfast, nice hotel
Nice hotel, helpful staff. Breakfast was so so
Very good the room ,the proximity to downtown and the great staff
Nice but Warm Rooms
Hotel was nice enough, but is a good 10 minute walk from Main Street of Calafate. Rooms were very hot at night even with radiator off. Windy spot on top of a hill. Staff very friendly and overall a good stay.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and very good selection. Walkable to town to shop or go to restaurant. Rooms are quite warm and loud on a saturday night from a local bar playing music until very late. Bathrooms nice size. Rooms do not have tea/coffee machine which would be helpful
I initially purchased a queen sized bed hotel room. The room was very small. Truly only space for a bed. This particular hotel room is tucked in a corner. Virtually looks like it was turned from a closet into a hotel room to increase revenue. This room should be sold at a highly discounted rate as cheaper hotels have nicer rooms than this one. I would like to note that the property did rectify this situation to improve my experience but it wasn’t until after I walked to another hotel to look at an alternative option.
The hotel and staff were nice. The hotel was a bit off the beaten path.
Beautiful place
Beautiful views and hotel itself. The photos don't do it justice. Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Only downsides was it was too hot at night and loud with the window open. Stray dogs also kept coming into the lobby.
Good service, nice pool and good breakfast. The tv had some problems with signal and tv control didn’t work well
Lindo hotel
Front desk staff were very helpful for us. Very appreciative. Thanks again
Best place in calafate
Muy buena opción, cerca del centro por lo que tienes varias opciones para comer y comprar.
Great hotel within easy walking distance of the centre El Calafate. We stayed in September and, while it was cold outside, all areas of the hotel were nice and warm. All the staff we encountered were similarly very warm and friendly. The buffet breakfast was a little limited in terms of savoury options, but was perfectly adequate. The pool area was clean and the water was a good temperature; it's just a pity that it's not open in the morning for days when one isn't heading out early. Overall though, we found the hotel offered very good value for money and would certainly stay there if we visit the region again in the future.
Very nice property with appropiate decor. The staff was absolutely great. We have dinner and lunch, the food was great and the service impecable.
Excellent customer service Beautiful property
Great stay, amazing staff, great location.
Fantastic lodge style hotel within walking distance to the town. Beautiful decor and excellent jacuzzi area, staff was very helpful!
Great stay at Calafate!
Great hotel with beautiful views of El Calafate
We loved this hotel. Clean, modern, restaurant and bar on the premises and walkable to the village
Excellent hotel and very friendly staff
Beautiful view with upgraded room
Good location away from main area
It was very hot and there was no AC. When the windows were open, loud noises came from outside making it difficult to sleep.
Great hotel! The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. The breakfast/restaurant/bar is very good. Easy to walk to town. My only suggestion is to add a refrigerator to the rooms. The only negative I would point out is that there is no air conditioning and the rooms get warm/stuffy. This would not deter me from staying at the Esplendor again.
Great chain hotel
Beautiful views of el calafate and the mountains. Walking distance to restaurants and shops.
Comfortable modern hotel within walking distance of town centre. Adequate breakfast buffet and dining room offers good choices. Only downside was no air conditioning but then it’s not supposed to be warm in El Calafate!
Nice functional room
I recently stayed at this property, and while the overall experience was ok regarding the cleanliness and location, a specific incident has led me to provide this feedback. Upon check-in, I inquired about local tour companies, and the staff was helpful, helping me to book one excursion for that day. However, my satisfaction waned that evening with an unexpected room service follow-up around 11:30 pm. A staff member arrived with a tray containing a cheesecake, two spoons, two glasses and mini champagne bottle, stating it was a courtesy from the property manager to which I asked if all guest were receiving that and she answered no. This gesture left me uneasy, especially since my reservation was for one, and such gestures were not extended to all guests. At that point I had already a pretty tight schedule with the excursions I had reserved for the next couple of days, reason why I couldn’t change hotels, but made me feel unsafe so every night I was making to use something to block the door just in case. I value privacy and respect during any of my stay, at any hotel, and this unsolicited intrusion felt uncomfortable. I hope this feedback helps in refining the guest experience. I tried to contact Expedia to report the incident but couldn’t find a way to do so, but would appreciate if an option to report this was built in the app.
Cleanliness was ok and staff was good but my concept room was hot. Hard to believe I am complaining about excessive heat in the room Patagonia even without heat on but true. I had to go down to front desk to talk about switching in the middle of night. It took awhile but staff was kind enough to switch my room which is mountain facing but more importantly it was comfortable to sleep for four nights.
We enjoyed our stay very much.
Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff. We spent some time in the bar area for food and drinks and the view is great. A few blocks from the main street (and up a hill) but easily walkable.
Decor was unique appropriate to El Calafate. The hotel was a few blocks from the main street where most restaurants and shops were located. Generally speaking, a very nice property and well maintained.
Great staff
Great stay and super friendly staff.
I was a little hesitant to book this hotel due past reviews and honestly I was greatly surprised by the staff front desk team went extra mile to give proper recommendations and they made everything for my group to feel ‘on vacation mood’. It’s true the location is up hill but the lake view is priceless. Breakfast was a 10 with many portions to choose what better fit your diet. Highly recommended!
I would have given the hotel a perfect 5 but there were a few inconsistency problems at check out and with the box lunch we ordered. Nice breakfast and rooms and overall facilities. Easy and wonderful checkin, limited bar selection. Great mini fridge in room. No face towels or hand lotion. Could use better pillows. Really though the best place we stayed in for our 3 week Argentina tour. Hotel is located at the top of a hill 3 walk able blocks to the main street. Very quiet and clean. Seems very new and well kept.
It was all perfect during our stay. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Hotel is conveniently located, just a 12 minute walk to the city center.
We stayed at the suite, the room was great and the property was wonderful.
Very noisy probably would not pick this again
The view is stunning
Not a 4 **** hotel. No room service Very poor maintained.
Esplendor
Great views and comfort!
This hotel was great and the upgraded room was absolutely spectacular. My only gripe was the misleading VIP perk regarding “1 free spa service for 2 per stay”. They told me this only was pool and sauna use, which doesn’t really make it a perk considering everyone staying at the hotel gets use of this…very misleading and should be changed. Otherwise, the breakfast was great and our stay was extremely pleasant.
I enjoyed my stay at the Esplendor, Nice lodge looking hotel, lobby is beautiful as well as bar area. Room is nice, spacious with beautiful views. Staff (Manuel) is really a nice guy and very helpful. Quiet area and 8 mn walk to Centro el calafate (very safe,). The negative is the sauna that is turn off, you have to ask to go an hour before so it is get to the right temperature (I assume this is for economic reason, I am ok with that), the pool was warm one day and cold the other. Breakfast is ok (I am not a big eater).
The wifi didn’t work
I am a hotels gold member and they did not upgrade our room despite availability. They said it was $80 a night and they hoped to sell the room so they couldn’t offer the complimentary upgrade. The stay was otherwise fine but avoid this hotel if there are other options.
Amazing boutique hotel
Amazing boutique hotel. Beautiful decor. Great rooms. Great service. Sits on a small hilltop with easy access to the downtown area of El Calafate.. Do not hesitate to book its wonderful !!!!!
Adequate facilities, problems with keys every day. Seemed understaffed
Pésimo
Pésimas políticas de cancelación, mi vuelo fue cancelado por aerolíneas Argentinas y no me devolvieron lo pagado
Really lovely hotel with excellent staff. Room was very well appointed and clean. The only drawback is the location. Have to climb a few blocks up and the sidewalks are terrible.
We stayed in a suite and it was amazing. The service was fantastic and so was the food.
Esplendor is an amazing hotel on top of a privileged hill with views of the incredible lake and landscape of Calafate. The restaurant was delicious and all the staff go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as posible. Highly Recommended!
Amazing hotel, extremely good breakfast and great room with a wonderful view on the mountains. We loved staying at this property so much, that we extended our stay by one night.
Clean, comfortable place with excellent restaurant. Friendly staff and great views. Recommend coffee either in room or lobby.
The staff that checked us in was amazing! It was for our group of 8, and we had to immediately leave for the glacier. When we returned from our excursion, our rooms were ready. Every staff member was welcoming and helpful!
Very generous with the late check out. Very relax staff in the good way make us feel very comfortable
good experience at esplendor
very nice hotel comfortable great service they aim to please
room was too small and close to elevator. It was very noisy particularly at night when there was a lot of traffic on elevators and conversations in the hallway.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff
Very helpful staff. Nice building with incredible views.
The Esplendor by Wyndham El Calafate was perhaps the best hotel I stayed in Argentina. Prior to arriving in El Calafete I was in Buenos Aires for 5 days. As soon as I arrived in El Calafate I saw and felt the difference in hospitality and felt very welcomed. Everyone was very nice, and I can recall upon checking in I found the front-desk guy greeted us with a smile and helpful tips. The in-room dining was superb, and we had very little complaints about the beds, cleanliness, or design of the room and hotel. The breakfast spread was filling and the view from the hotel was also good.
Can't fault this hotel for anything. Would highly recommend
Helpful desk staff. Excellent room! Everyone was attentive and quick to answer any questions
Basic continental breakfast, espresso coffee not offered.
Great location
The location is great. Easy to walk to town, breathtaking views from the room and staff is very friendly. Maybe because we stayed before the high season started they seemed understaffed (I.e. we accidentally broke a wine glass in the room and cleaned up best we could. When we asked for housekeeping to bring a vacuumed or something to make sure we got all the pieces we couldn’t get someone till the next day. We asked at 5 pm). The hotel offers spa services. My hubby and I each got a massage and I had a facial. Don’t expect the treatment you get in the US, the facial is more like a face massage, it was a hot towel wrap and some creams. There was no steam, no extraction, no wealth of creams on my face when I walked out the door. But it was relaxing. We both enjoyed the massages, but they don’t have a waiting areas (I sat on a step outside the massage room waiting for my turn). I got undressed while the masseuse was changing the sheets from my husbands massage...in the same room with me. That was a bit odd. All I’m saying is there could have been a bit more privacy and better explanation of services. Overall, both hubby and I did feel relaxed after our treatments and that is the goal. The complimentary breakfast is robust, a mix of American and European feel....meats, cheeses, fruits, eggs, fresh squeezed juices, cereal, yogurt and some gluten free options. The staff at the hotel, all very kind, courteous and helpful.
The hotel and the room had a stylish, homely feel. Breakfast buffet was decent, if a bit repetitive for a longer stay. Dinner options were limited but there are plenty of good restaurants in town. Nice pool with jacuzzi and sauna. Spa did not seem to be open or, at least, eas not advertised. All staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel location was good, just a little walk to the town centre. The main issue we had with the room was the excessive heat, whixh made it difficult to sleep, and there didn't seem to be any way for guests to control temperature themselves.
The staff was amazing. The amenities and the spa was great.
One of the best, if not the best hotel in Calafate. Beautiful and new structure. Amazing service from the staff, always ready to help with any request. With us, really went the extra mile by surprising us with Champagne in the room for our engagement! Thanks Nico!
Everything is good. The hotel is a little bit far from downtown (13 mins walk according to google map). Parking is a little bit limited (10 spots) however you can street parking if needed since the hotel is on a relatively quiet street. But other than those everything else is perfect.
Good views of calafate and hotel located within easy walking reach of the centre of calafate. Good breakfast and staff are very friendly. Room are a good size too.
Well decorated. One of the staff members was thoughtful enough to send us chocolate and champagne. The only issue was that there was a slight bathroom smell inside the room.
Great recommendations for dining spots provided to us as well by the gentleman at the front desk.
Great stay in El Calafate
The hotel is great. There are a few places showing some wear and age, specifically the pool. It needs resurfacing or just scraping out the peeling paint. And a refurb of the jets. Otherwise the place was comfortable. The rooms were nicely appointed and clean. Most importantly the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The location is great as it’s jot on the main strip so you get some elevation to look over the water. And it’s a very quick walk to all the restaurants and such. Overall we had a great experience.
Very nice hotel but lacking in service
The hotel including the lobby, rooms and breakfast were great but the service was definitely not 4 star hotel worthy. We asked the front desk for several things (confirming our excursions, local restaurant reservations, towels that were missing. etc) and they were either unwilling to do it (they said they would and we had to ask several times) or seemed reluctant to help. I don’t mind people who are chill and laid back but when it comes to service in the hospitality industry that’s not a positive trait. We got much better service in Ushuaia and Buenos Aires at comparable hotels.
All perfect in this beautiful hotel from the view to the staff!
Wowza. Such an awesome hotel. Sweetest suite I’ve ever been in, pool was so awesome, service was on pointe.
This is probably one of the best resorts in this town. Located on top of a hill, it offers a beautiful sweeping view of the town and Lake Argentino. The resort is tastefully decorated with local art and design. Room was spacious and clean. The staffs of this resort were very helpful and accommodating. We had a great time. Food served at the restaurant was pretty good. From the resort, its' a 10 min walk to main street of El Calafate where you find many shops and restaurants.
Most staff were very friendly and helpful. We had one particular male staff member who was not helpful. Hotel itself was excellent but the breakfast was not great. The skim milk tasted sour and off. We did not eat an evening meal there due to how we found the breakfast. Still would recommend this hotel
Just Beautiful
The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the views were stunning. Overall a great time with family and friends. Unfortunately management from head office were difficult to deal with. We needed to make changes to our reservations well in the allocated time 3 rooms for 3 night and need to cancel 2 of the nights. After going back and forth for many hours they did not respond till after the allocated time. They still charged us for one of the cancelled night. Over all the staff did there best to make up to us, except for one who was working at night who was rude to us cause we were a large group who came to reunite from all over the world. He could have been alot more pleasant and professional by asking us to move to another area of the hotel where we wanted to continue catching up.
Beautiful hotel with great views
The hotel has a great atmosphere. Rooms are well kept and the staff is very friendly. Only seven minutes to the main street, which was not a problem from us but it is uphill. The only down was the condition of the pool, the surface is peeling and it needs to be repaired.
The room was comfortable, though smaller than I had expected, and the shower head needed replacing (which to their credit was done during our stay). However, the bed was really comfortable, the spa was lovely (and I had it to myself for a couple of hours!), and staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were great, too, with lots of options for healthy eating/ dairy-free/ gluten-free diets; it was certainly one of the most varied we had in South America. The location is good too; near to town, but with views over the lake.
Very nice boutique property. Clean and great staff. Spa service was small so wasn't able to use it as it was fully booked.
The location was a bit inconvenient, if you don’t have a car. It was great deal for what they offers. Breakfast was great. Highly recommend.
Esplendor 2 Night Stay
Our first impressions of the town were not great having just arrived from a very green looking Bariloche. That probably affected our impression of the hotel - we had a basic room which was a bit on the small and dark side. Lobby, bar and breakfast area were great. Breakfast itself provided a variety of choices - more than enough to set you up for a day of sightseeing.
Fancy with spotty WiFi
Very fancy modern place. Spotty WiFi which is frustrating and sound can really echo up from the main lobby as the area is all open. Beds were comfortable, breakfast which is included was fantastic. Great views from up on the hill.
Nice hotel, nice view, the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The personal assist you very kindly and always willing to help you. The only two things (very easy to correct) are:swimming pool maintenance and the light in the rooms are a little poor.
This hotel was beautiful and comfortable. The staff, most notably, were aboslutly great and helpful
Very Nice Hotel, excellent location
The hotel is very nice and in a great location but the bed is not so comfortable and the room was VERY hot.
Nice hotel
Hotel is nice, clean, updated. It is on the hill, and about 10-15 walk to main street. Hotel stuff are very nice and friendly. Breakfast is fine.
This hotel is beautiful! Amazing view from the window in our room, staff was helpful, spa is a great plus, rooms are spacious. The breakfast was delicious and had a ton of options. Hotel is up a decent hill but an easy 10 min walk to the main street. I would highly recommend.
Nice modern hotel
Location is ok, 10 minutes uphill from the main street. Rooms are decent. Wifi is not reliable. Breakfast is ok with many options though hot options are not very appetising. No gym. Small heated pool. Good views from room. Early checkout of 10am is ridiculous. They granted an extension for us though so that was good.
Newish midlevel property in burgeoning active vacation town nearish to the glacier national park area ( 90 kms) Great views esp from lobby
