Not happy with my stay but manger trued his best to make it better
Great employees, good price
Went for a week’s vacation, 4 adults. Our flight was cancelled and arrived at midnight. The room was missing the towels, shampoo and soap. Toilet was not working. Management had to move us to another room. This one had everything and cleaner, in other words, ready. Went to bead at 4am, long day. The hotel is under renovation, but the service provided by employees was excellent. The beach is very good and for $10 you can rent a beach chair. Hotel has a cafe/restaurant and the food is very good. All is walking distance and you can rent a car across the street. They have a parking garage under the building and you can go in and out anytime. It you are looking for good price and good service, this one is for you because hotels next to it, are over $500 per night. It’s 10 minutes from airport and Kiosks of Piñones for local food.
Power went out for 2 days, no pool although beach next door!
The only thing I like about ESJ is that you can walk to the beach from the hotel. The room I stayed had cockroaches my kids were scared and myself too I talked to them about the issue but didn't do anything. I won't stay there anymore and they have to do a lot la of upgrades . The bathroom was old and dirty and the room smells moist .
A great area, more that I expect.
Hotel condo air bed and breakfast concept. Overpriced hostel experience.
This hotel really needs renovations, which they are in some areas. They need to clean, fix signs of water damage, get rid of the bugs
When reservations were made it stated breakfast included and a pool neither were available
Only problems we had was the telephone did Not work in the room .
This was a well deserved vacation for me and my husband of 30yrs plus. The staff were always there to welcome you or assist you with any needs. They are all super knowledgable of the vicinity - ask and they shall point to that direction. IT was the BEST 6 days EVER!! Thank YOU, ESJ. Next Time - Villalba's
I usually do not write reviews but I cannot believe that people are actually still staying at this place. My husband and I were apauled. Ice we got there they said they are under construction for renovation however at no time did we see any construction going on. They did not disclose that they were “under construction” when the reservation was made and they did not disclose that there was no pool. This was my worst vacation experience EVER and Expedia never called me back to resolve the issue but instead sent two emails saying they are looking into the issue. Disgusted…DO NOT BOOK HERE!!
This property is NOT as it appears online. It is not a hotel. It is more like an efficiency unit. And that's it. The property is aging badly. The room appeared and smelled very moldy. The shower had a stained floor, and the shower head was very dirty. So dirty, that we cleaned it ourselves just to be able to use it, only to find out that there was no hot water. We tried calling the front desk multiple times throughout the night; however, no one ever answered the phone. Maintenance came the following morning when I went downstairs and spoke with someone at the desk. She could not explain why no one answered the phone the previous night. The vents from where the air came out had clunks of lint build up. The beds were very uncomfortable. The balcony showed signs of distress. The rebar of the concrete could be seen, and we were not confident at all in its integrity, so we did not go out onto it after the first time. We were finally offered another room, but it was not much better. We ended up changing hotels and going to the Hampton Inn and suites across the street for the rest of our stay.
Room in disprepair(balcony access lock broken). Very noisy. Had to continously request towels with mixed results.
Great view, location was great ( right on the beach) Amazing staff! ( Shoutout to Will) Just a bit outdated.
Location but we was stock in side the elevator for more than 20 minutes terrible Thank for asking
The first day I arrived they put me in a room that had roaches in it and the second room that was given was not what I requested. I requested a room with king size beds but was given a double bed and was told that they were booked and that was all they had. Second day there the hot water wouldn’t get hot and then ice flew out of AC unit and almost hit me in the head while I was laying down. Went back downstairs to the front desk to request another room and all of a sudden they had a king room available. The front desk staff was extremely rude except for one young man that worked late nights who was very accommodating. This was a terrible experience, forgot to mention the sewage water that was on the floor when I came out of my room and I had to step on top of some weird bins. The staff that brought the fresh towels and wash clothes stated that we could only have a limit of 2 towels and 2 wash clothes a day since it was only 2 of us. Also it states that they have a pool online but it has been out of use for 2 years and yet they charge resort feels. It is hard to get any of the staff on the phone whether you calling from a personal phone or the room phone. I WOULD NEVER EVER STAY HERE EVER AGAIN!!! This hotel ruined my birthday trip!!!
Stayed at the ESJ Towers from February 4th to February 9th 2025 & we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is at a awesome location, right on the beach, & our room was clean with a amazing view of the beach. The hotel pool is still closed just so you know when u book, but overall we really liked staying here.
Muy bonito
Very run down. The rooftop pool last been working for 5 years! Even though it’s still in the photos and property description
Everyone was very friendly and the rooms are nice, just sometimes it was noisy because of the construction which is understandable.
Very convenient location, close to airport and casino
ESJ was everything it really was home away from home and the staff was very friendly and helpful made you feel comfortable Love this hotel 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Loved staying at esj 8 steps out door to ocean and great restaurant within walking distance
The place is a mess. Zero services. Outdated rooms. No one to speak to. No one cares. Very unprofessional. But it’s right on the beautiful beach, which makes it all worth jt.
Well, we have been here a few times but this time we experienced a power outage that when asked no one had a good answer for as to when the power would return. Took about 2 hours. I requested a king size ved and were given a room with double full size beds. My husband is 6'4" so that was uncomfortable. When i asked regarding a change we were told they could try to get us another room but we only went for 3 days so we figured we would just accept whatever. Phone in room didnt work either. Building is in such a great location but it does need updating.
Although they’re currently under renovation, you can tell that the building has been in a state of neglect for many years. The walls were cracked on the outside of the building. Being on the 14th floor, my wife and I were concerned about leaning on the rails as the walls that anchor the rails were cracked and the steel was exposed on the porch above us. The concrete is falling apart. So the building needs extensive repairs especially when the buildings are that close to the ocean, the salt eventually corrodes everything so the building has to be better maintained. For safety reasons we will not be staying there again.
Needs work
The front desk is way at the end of the hotel hotel under construction front desk should’ve been centered in the main lobby they had a cashiers office that had zero purpose but yet had a line of people in front of it because the front desk was too far away …… very friendly staff though!
It was great
Great property, you can walk to eat. Very close to everything.
Great place to stay in Puerto Rico
I paid for a ocean view, but got a Partial ocean view. it wouldn't matter to me, if there wasn't a difference in price. But I paid for the ocean view, and wasnt refunded the difference. No pool, and No lobby bar. I complained to hotel, they said they were sold out and couldn't switch. I complained to expedia, and they haven't gotten back to me.
Overall I had a decent experience at ESJ Beach Hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful whenever I needed assistance. I arrived in Puerto Rico around 2am and the hotel was still very accommodating to me and got my room together promptly. With that being said there are quite a few things that need to addressed... The hotel is attached to an apartment building that shares one lobby. The signs are not very clear as to which side is which and where to check-in. I asked for a beach view and received a few of the demolished pool area that they claim it says online is not available and have been rebuilding for a year. The paint on the walls are peeling, the faucets in the bathroom are rusted. The towels did not look fresh and white. My party was unaware that we had to request beach towels and that they would bring them to the room the night before we went to the beach so we had no beach towels the entire stay. There was construction being done on the lounge in the main lobby so we had to go offsite to just sit and have a drink. There was a small cafe in the lobby but very limited to what they had and didn’t t serve alcohol. There are stains on the carpet, some of the light fixtures in my room did not work. There were maybe a total of 3 outlets in the entire room. Again overall it was a decent experience. The hotel was very affordable and it is next to a lot of quick places you can go eat or get supplies that you need. Vanessa our housekeep was absolutely WONDERFUL
The property is not worth the suggested price. The pool was closed. The bar was closed. Towels were limited and dingy. No one cleaned the room or made the bed. The entire property was under construction. The workers had very few words for guest when entering and exiting the building. Definitely not worth the money.
Stay away from ESJ Towers. Dirty property. Terrible service, terrible parking, unkept!
The hotel gave us a room the does not lock, safe does not work, they do not give fresh towels, toilettries or coffee cops. The pool was under construction. The gym was in the garafe area. Parking deck has low ceilings and really hot. Only good thing is the location in beach front.
Our stay was average, we spent most of our time outside (mall, of San Juan etc)
A lot of upgrades are required. The balcony door does not lock. There was low lighting. The doors do not close all the way without applying force. The toilet hand some sediments in it that did not flush away. The towels were hard. The front desk persons weelre pleasant though. The location is convenient.
There is a lot of noise every day from 8 am to 5 pm because they are working on the pool. No restaurant in the place or other thing more than a little caffe that closes at 3 pm with very few choices. I founded very safe, well located and the people in the front desk were very helpful . Me gusto en general porque yo no voy al caribe buscando lujos pero si esperan lujo y cosa linda de verdad vayan al fairmount que está al lado ! I would definitely come back to the ESJ ! Beautiful view and very convenient !
The beach was out the back door literally and the strip where all the stores and business are is only a walk down the driveway We loved it here so much we extended our stay other night highly recommend for all single or with family 5☆☆☆☆☆ thanks esj beach towers
The property is under construction, great, but the room we had was full of mold, air conditioner worked then stopped, and the air smelled like mold. The entire room had mold stains from the entrance of the door to the balcony. The restroom was clean, the bedroom was decent. We parked the car in the garage, after a day, it was pretty much infested with roaches! Found about 6 crawling around inside and out, I guess that’s the climate to blame, never the less, it was pretty dirty. I wouldn’t stay here again. The building is very old and you can see mold and mildew from under all balconies standing in the outside. Pay for better place, I wish I did.
Verry good customer service. Team very nice. But very outdated rooms.
The only bad thing is that the property itself was old but great customer service
It was great, but they just need to work on the hotel.
Competent staff that helped
I love the direct walk up to the beach option. The conditions of the rooms need a mild make over I also feel it would be helpful to put where things are located in the public eye for example the gym, pool etc. The pool was out of service, The lounge was out of service as well .
I liked that there was a really nice gym. I also liked the size of the room it came with a kitchen and also how quick the elevators are. I didn’t like that the location was under construction so it was a bit noisy. Over all thought, this place was really good and the staff was super friendly. They also kept the lobby super clean.
Thank you for the wonderful experience
The room was modern, clean with kitchen amenities to facilitate use and the view from the terrace was absolutely breathtaking. Loved it.
The hotel has generator but it's not sufficient to fully energized the interior building. The rugs need to be replaced. Other than that it was good.
Don’t waste your money
We were shocked at the condition of the hotel in general. Everything was very old and not maintained. The A/C barely worked (very humid).
I really enjoyed the experience, the hotel is well located, the backyard is already in the beach area
I had an extremely disappointing experience with this hotel. The room was dirty, with stained sheets and a foul smell that lingered throughout. The bathroom was unsanitary, with mold in the shower and broken fixtures. The staff were somewhat helpful. This hotel is poorly maintained and overpriced for the quality offered. I would not recommend staying here to anyone. We had to move to a whole new hotel and couldn’t stay even one night.
Property looked deserted
The rooms are just ok, no hot water for shower, the staff is very friendly and helpful, we stayed there for 1 week, we only used the place to sleep because there's a lot do in puerto rico. La isla del encanto.
Pictures are not the same as in person smell like old, bad bad bad.
This hotel needs to be renovated it is dirty and very outdated.
The rooms are very spacious, bright and the view is amazing. Downside is that is no pool, no a single place to eat, and some of the people are not friendly. Just no amenities at all ! Well located.
The place needs lots of work,
The box spring was filthy on the bed. The room smelt of mildew The building itself looked to be deteriorating No food options on campus except an overpriced cafe
This have been the worst hotel I have stayed in PR. The room wasn’t finished, it should not be rented. The pool was closed and they advertised as an ocean view room with photos. My room view was a dirty wall. Do not waste your time and money
The location of the hotel is great. It’s right next to the beach if you love surfing instead of snorkeling. 7min drive to the airport and 30 min to old town. Because it’s close the airport, it was supposed to be loud, but it’s not, because the AC is super duper loud which covered all the noise around the room including the construction right next door. Which I’m saying is that it seems they are always under constructions according to my experience and other reviews from earlier visitors. Nevertheless it’s still mostly noisy in many ways. Also the WiFi is really bad in some rooms. The manager made some excuses of the WiFi is being fixed but it never got better. The garage has a low ceiling and dark , but not as bad as what the previous reviews said, but it was like a maze to us at the first. The beds are good but it would be nice to have quilts instead of a thin light blanket(like the one they offer on a flight). Overall it’s not too bad for its price. But I guess I would not stay there again because of the WIFI and noise.
Lots of untapped potential!! Our room was great, clean and with a great view. The sheets were clean but they don’t us fabric softener … The lobby was pretty and clean. But the bar abd cafe were closed the entire time. The game room has lots of machines that don’t work. No pool, but the beach access was good.
no hot water available after multiple complaints, Ubers cars were not allowed in side the property even if it was raining.
Didn’t like much room was not ready at check in time and room over looking the pool looked horrible. Room smelled like mildew. Nothing upgraded for the price that I paid awful you guys should take it down from Expedia.
Really nice stay
Good for short stay
Location is good , rooms are spacious. Bathroom needs upgrades and electrical points and usb charge points needed
Under renovation but clean and safe.
The location is perfect. The hotel is clean and comfortable. It is under construction with renovations which are desperately needed. Its not the most beautiful right now.. but i never saw a bug and it didn't smell. Its a comfortable and safe place to sleep as you visit the city. Would recommend.
Se necesita mas limpieza y mucho trabajo para que las habitaciones esten aptas para alojarse!
Hotel old but kept very clean.
My family was disappointed about the pool being unavailable...but overall it was a good stay
Overall we had a nice stay. Family friendly. Sandy beach. The main issue that we experienced was construction noise ( drilling) Monday to Friday between 10am to approximately 3pm. We wasn't planned to stay in room too much but during the rainy days there is not much options where you can go with little one.
Laundry services is the common service we would expect but it's nit part of package we had to pay
Rooms had some kind of smell
Room was not clean and there was roaches
We will not stay at this hotel again. So sorry, I really hate being negative and normally if I can't something nice, I don't say anything at all. Not at all as shown in the pictures, was smelly, and everything inside the room, very old. On top of everything we haven't received our security deposit back yet. Our stay was Dec13-Dec 14.
It was okay! The hotel really need to be renovated. The pool and bar was closed down. The carpet in the room was old and they need hardwood flooring. I personally wouldn’t rebook it was okay for the two days I was there
Spacious and affordable rate.
It closer to beach nice area and security all the time but a little scare in the parking basement the bed and pillows need more confort kitchen and gabinets need restore have nice view nice supermarket personal very nice and attention with us but it was nice thanks
ESJ is right on the beach and near by restaurants
Location was exelent
Xmas Holiday
Awkward check-in location, both security posts are outdated, parking lacks ventilation, pool is out of service, front desk communication is poor and staff is rude. Room air conditioning is noisy, bathroom is poorly maintained.
I love it..
Construcción en la propiedad
Very unorganized, hard to find room you have to take 2 elevators from the garage to access the room. Booked a one bed king size and received a 2 bed full size. Extra hidden fees upon check in. You can hear everything that happens in the hallways from inside the room.
Very nice hotel and easy access to the beach!
No water to drinks
The pool still broken
Great stay
My room was excellent. Great view nice space, cold A/C. Check in was easy staff was nice.
When I was there the overall stay was okay but since I booked through 3rd party they couldn’t clean room, than out of no where we were waiting on uber and water started falling from the ceiling like Pouring out was some type of construction but there is no excuse !
TBH [TO-BE-HONEST] TBH 1 THE STAFF WAS AMAZING WITH KNOWLEDGE AND DIRECTIONS AND VERY NICE AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE 👌 2 MY ROOM VIEW OVER LOOKING THE BEACH WAS AMAZING 3 THE ROOM WAS CLEAN WITH A WHOLE KITCHEN PROVIDED 4 THE ROOMS AC UNIT WAS THROWING ICE CUBES AT US 😆 IT WAS SO COLD BUT IT WAS 96 DEGREES OUTSIDE 5 BEDS WERE FRESHLY CLEANED 🙌 6 THE BATHROOM WAS CLEAN 7 THE SHOWER HEAD NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AND WE ASKED THE STAFF BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE ON BACKORDER 8 THE TUBE DRAINS SLOWLY 🐌 👌 AND ITS PROBABLY FULL OF SAND FROM THE BEACH VISITS FROM PASS GUESTS PER THE STAFFS RESPONSE 9 THE ROOM SMELT CLEAN 10 OVERALL WE MADE EVERYTHING WORK OUT FINE BUT THE OWNERS NEED TO UPGRADE THE ROOMS PERIOD BECAUSE FOR WHAT THEY CHARGE ITS OVERRATED BEST PARTS WAS OUR VIEW AT BEST 11 THE POOL WAS SHUTDOWN AND IT LOOKS TERRIBLE 12 IF THEY GOT GRANTS OR DONATIONS FROM THE LAST HURRICANE STORM TO HIT PR THEY DEFINITELY DIDN'T USE THE FUNDS TO UPGRADE THE PROPERTY ASAP 🙄 13 AMENITIES WERE TRASH OR OUT OF ORDER 14 WE DIDN'T KNOW PEOPLE OWN ROOMS AT ESJ WHICH YOU DONT FIND OUT UNTIL YOU CHECK IN 15 THEY DO HAVE GUEST PARKING SO GOOD LUCK FINDING A SPOT IN THE BASEMENT 16 THE STAFF MAKES YOUR STAY WAY BETTER 17 I WISH WE WOULD'VE PICKED A MORE UP TO DATE HOTEL 18 OVERRATED 19 WONDER HOW MUCH THE 20 RENT 21 SMH 22 OVERPRICED 23 OLD APPLIANCES 24 ITS SAD I HAD TO WRITE ALL THIS BUT 25 folk's live in the building 26 TBH
We enjoy the ambience and security of this hotel. Easy access to lots of places…beach, casino and dining.
i stayed at this property years ago in 2017 and opted to stay again bc of the location on the beach. It changed names , in 2017 the pool was down and as of now it still is. In 2017 The bar was down and as of now still is. They no longer offer intercontinental breakfast or beach chairs. The rooms are to be expected for the price. The rooms were cleaned but some linens had stains and different things around the room chipped, cracked or seriously outdated. There was construction in other rooms going on very early hours and later into the evenings. The price was good for what it is. Location is great. Amenities minimal. Rooms decent..
Private beach access was really good.
The whole property has water damage and mold
There needs to be an exterminator to come through the hotel. There were small insects in the hotel, but hotel and amenities were pretty good.
Very clean great staff. Parking could be a little better
Some items doesnt work.. iron doesnt work but overall is good. Very close to almost everything.
Los baños están viejos la cocina una estufa de los año 80 no me gustó y el 6 días de estancia solo limpiaron el cuarto 3 veces
The view

My room was very clean and the fact it was on the beach was a huge perk! My room did not have hot water. I advised the front desk. They said they would take care of it but when I went back after a day at the beach, the water was still cold. The hallways are dark and creepy. Other than those two things, it wasnt that bad of a stay.
