The property is in a fabulous area close to Takapuna Beach and ask the wonderful eateries and bars. Lovely quiet tidy place with such friendly staff.

Excellent location

Great location! Easy walking to restaurants, shops, and the lake. Our room was super-clean. The parking is a bit tight, especially if your room is around the back, but it worked ok. We stayed here in February and it was pretty warm. There is no air conditioning, and the windows provide little ventilation. There was a fan in the closet, which helped.

Lovely accommodation, close to lovely nearby Takapuna beaches and cafes. Beautiful pool that my kids loved swimming in. The grounds were lovely. Overall an awesome stay and would most definitely come back here again

Lovely room - nicely appointed, very clean and quiet.

The rooms were well furnished and included everything I needed for my stay such as iron, fan, heater, kitchen and appliances. It was very convenient having the second door that connected to the courtyard and a peaceful place to sit outside and drink my teas in the morning. The employees were very kind and friendly and were able to help me with anything I needed in my room.

AC would have been nice. Aside from that, it’s a most beautiful property.

The staff was extemely friendly and helpful, which proved enhance our stay and experince. Everybody was greatly appreciated. The grounds and area are beautiful.

Emerald Inn Takapuna

Had a lovely stay at Emerald Inn. This was my 3rd stay in 2 weeks. Rooms are lovely with everything you need and they have a free guest laundry. Staff were all friendly and helpful. I even got a room upgrade becaused I had stayed so often. I will be back to stay when I'm in Takapuna.

Splendid location

A good sized, clean room with a comfy bed. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

The views are spectacular from the room and the service was excellent from the minute you walk in to reception. Walking distance to the beach and markets and shops.

Emerald Inn is a great motel in a iconic location close to Takapuna beach. It was very clean and also had good cooking alternatives. Not only was there a microwave oven but there was also a cooking hob and nice fridge.

Quirky accommodation close to the beach, bars and restaurants.

Nice tropical atmosphere with comfortable rooms. The location is just up the hill from a great cafe and a lovely dog friendly beach. We enjoyed our stay very much!

I have stayed here every trip to New Zealand . Full kitchens , coffee plunger , electric kettle , fridge , cooking utensils all provided .

A calm and serene oasis next to the water!

Property is an oasis in the city. Quiet, well kept, super nice people, super close to the beach and walkable restaurants (highly recommend Tokyo Bay!) This is not an ultra fancy and ultra modern resort - that's not why you are staying here and that's not what they are trying to be. As others have mentioned, no AC but it really isn't necessary - open the windows and let the air flow through (fans were provided if necessary). 5 stars, would ABSOLUTELY stay here again!

We paid $350 per night and for that price, we were expecting there to be air-conditioning. The decor was a bit dated and it felt like they scrimped wherever possible eg toiletries, toilet paper. On the plus side, it was in an amazing area - right next to the beautiful beach and walking distance to a vibrant town with multiple wonderful restaurants/shops.

Lovely location and our stay was really enjoyable. The only negative was the fan was on which was noisy and we were unable to turn it off. The cleaners told us it could only be turned off from the downstairs unit (we were in the upstairs unit) which seemed a bit strange. It led to the unit beside us complaining about the fan noise but it was out of our control.

We were welcomed by the manager and her assistant almost as if we were friends. By walking only 100 meters we had an amazing view of Rang-it-to-to Island and a beautiful beach lined with Po-hu-to-ka-wa trees.

Close to beach and amenities.

Lovely setting. The gardens are amazing. Very helpful, friendly staff. Super clean rooms. Close to top class restaurants and beach. Wasn’t aware of any recycling facilities. Parking is incredibly tight also. An extra armchair was really needed. One small sofa in 2 bedroom unit wasn’t sufficient. When requested, none was available but noticed one in photo online. However would definitely stay again.

Stay clear of this one! As rough a motel as you can find in NZ. Never been updated and sketchy customers.

Stayed for 3 nights and was a little disappointed with the lack of milk, toiletries etc provided they didn't replenish these each day and I had to ask for some, otherwise the location and the room was great thanks

Nice and comfy and very handy to facilities. Room service was very good and office person very pleasant. All in all a very good package and wouldn't hesitate staying there again.

The communal area and pool is simply stunning. The gardens and greenery make you feel like you are not even in the city

Not as expected

On-line photos make hotel look better than it actually is. Was very disappointed in the quality of this property. Parking was also limited and difficult due to it's small size. Internet access was through a hot spot so speed was an issue. No A/C and unable to keep windows open at night due to insects so room was stuffy.

Great location near restaurants, bars and beach (though not swimable). Very humid climate - no air conditioning!! Probably the biggest con.

The trees and the garden were well established, keeping the area nice and cool on a hot day. Lovely balcony going from room.

Great location and Emerald has everything you need for what we required.

The location is superb, quiet and secluded, you wouldn’t know you were in suburbia. A little oasis! Just a couple of minutes stroll to Takapuna beach, within walking distance of shops, restauraunts, cafes etc. Leave the car in the car park and enjoy the area. We’ll definitely be back!!!

Despite being so close to main road of Takapuna this property was very quiet. A shame we didn't have the weather to enjoy the beach and pool more. Plenty of places to eat, drink and shop within easy walking distance. Was a bit pricey compared to others we have stayed in, though probably relative in price to area. Very clean, convenient and has been renovated in recent years.

Great location

Emerald Inn is in a great location with lots of places to eat nearby. Overall stay was quite nice. It does get a bit noisy on Friday/Saturday nights with people being out and about. One thing I found a bit odd is that the door has a single push button lock, there is no chain on the door or do not disturb signs that can be used. From a security point of view it doesn't feel as safe as there is no double lock. From a privacy aspect, I had housekeeping walk in twice on weekends while I was trying to have a sleep-in and a third time almost walk in as I was getting out of the shower. It would be an easy fix for the owners but certainly would make me think twice about staying there if it wasn't located in such a convenient spot.

Only drawback was no AC

Excellent beach location

We enjoy the location of Emerald Inn and have stayed here before a few years ago. So close to beach and shops, it is perfect for our family. On this occasion we were disappointed with a few little things, starting with our arrival when the reception staff were confused about what accommodation we had reserved (& paid for some weeks earlier, ie: a 2-bed apartment not a 1-room studio). Eventually sorted, we were directed to our room, a very private upstairs situation - lovely! Although the apartment was clean and tidy throughout, the bathroom had no window and the extraction fan did not work..... not nice. Also thought that for a property of this type and price, the room provisions were very basic; ie: a full kitchen but barely enough utensils, bowls, serving platters etc to do anything with, and not enough cutlery to invite 2 visitors to join us for supper. Very basic and just one type of standard tea/coffee sachets, no variety, no biscuits, no tissues, no paper towels. We would stay again of course, the location is perfect.

Emerald Inn weekend stay

Had a very pleasant stay at Emerald Inn. The location couldn't be better, close to the beach as well as the shops and restaurants of Takapuna. The motel is clearly well run, rooms and bathrooms are well appointed clean and in good condition. Will stay again next time we are back for the weekend.

Lovely homely quiet

Love staying here because of the location and the room is lovely but bathroom really let stay down. Couldn't have anything in the actual bathroom due to it getting wet and needed to have door open as no fan so whole room got steamed up. Bad condensation in room.

Not too flash but very quiet and comfortable, everything was neat and tidy on arrival and it was a joy to awake to the birdsong from the surrounding lush foliage, a pleasant experience.

An absolute gem! Highly recommended!

Great location, close to the beach, and within walking distance to town and even groceries. We went boutique shopping and got coffee and ice cream in town. Make sure to visit the market on Sundays! The hotel room itself was pretty and spacious (we had the studio-2ppl). It also had a small kitchen in it with dishes and all! Pool was pretty but cold at night! Sitting area was peaceful and the hotel was accommodating and friendly. Room was very nice.

Neat hotel with excellent location.

Not cheap but a well run, neat motel, well located with easy access to the beach, shops and restaurants. Compact but nicely laid out in a sylvan setting. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Takapuna visit

I used to work and live in Takapuna and was familiar with the Emerald Inn as a local business with a great reputation. I now live out of town but had a meeting to attend in Takapuna and decided to book in. I found the Emerald Inn to be very well maintained, the room I stayed in was well appointed, clean and modern. The situation is literally one minute from Takapuna Beach and round the corner from the bars and restaurants. With these ammenities close by I was surprised how quiet and peaceful it was.

Convenient location close to Takapuna Beach

Nice quiet and clean rooms. Good service at check-in and check-out. Bed has seen better days as was a bit lumpy. Free WiFi service is very limited; had just 3 hours free access for a 4 night stay. Must be expensive getting the internet to Auckland :-) Rooms very clean and tidy, and you can't beat this location a few metres from Takapuna Beach, great coffee, restaurants and shopping.

Found Emerald Inn a very peaceful and quiet Hotel close to restaurants, beach and the shops. Room very well presented. Needs a little updating especially around the doors and ceiling but otherwise room exceptionally well presented. Would gladly stay there again.
