When I went to shower, there was no shower/shampoo soap. I contacted the front desk through Whats App, They responded right away and sent someone to bring soap very quickly. We were late for our excursion pick up time and the front desk let us know they were waiting through Whats App. We thought the time was 20 minutes later, so we appreciated the notice so they would wait for us. Great service from the front desk. They even helped us with restaurant suggestions for dinner. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
I loved this property! Very eco friendly, very convenient to Manuel Antonio park, shops, restaurants and the beach, and staff is amazing! The food was great and very affordable and the views are out of this world!
Noisy rooms in 4 th floor from the kitchen above. Very convenient to Manuel Antonio Park. Very good selection on breakfast
Not a good place.
Good
Love how close it was from the National Park entrance. Great attention from the staff. Wifi was not working most of time. The first elevator did not look or feel very safe. Regarding the breakfast, it will be more convenient if the guests can have both coffee and juice, rather than one option per breakfast.
Great stay
This was different. Hotel made with old containers but it works. Sound proofing between walls was thin. But 2 nights was fine. Stay on the top floor. Best view. steep hill to climb. Not for someone with any knee or hip issues.
Walking distance from Manuel Antonio park. 0.3 miles
I really appreciated Everything here !
Excellent
El hotel el Faro recomendado.Su vista atención al cliente muy buena.La comida del restaurante muy buena.Recomendado.Excelente ubicación.
El Faro is as pictured, very convenient located next to Manuel Antonio park, literally you can walk to the park, the staff is very nice and polite, Juan Carlos from the restaurant was very attentive and helpful on any type of question we had , he went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant, the food in the restaurant is really good , we booked the studio on the terrace and it had everything that a couple need it (a/c , wifi , mini fridge, coffee maker , bathroom, elevators) the hotel has two pools and a beautiful view to Manuel Antonio beach, so I think is a great value for the money, I sure recommend it
The staff was amazing the restaurant awesome food. It’s just not everything it describes to be and what I didn’t like about. It is the beds. The beds are hard as a rock. They are outdated. The facility is 10 years old and I would assume the bed are the same.
Steep hill but amazing views. Easy process and accommodating. Very kind and the food at the restaurant on site was pretty good. Nice place.
Great location, spectacular views and very friendly staff (Jose was very helpful throughout our stay).
Hotel restaurant was right above my room. The rooms are made from shipping containers which sounds cool at first until you have noisy neighbors & lots of foot traffic above your room. Sound is definitely an issue, at least in my room. The view from my room was incredible which sort of made up for the noise somewhat and the staff is very friendly & helpful. Rooms are clean and each room has a patio overlooking the ocean & Manuel Antionio Ntl Park.
The rooms are made of reused containers which was very interesting. We had a great view of the ocean from our room. Staff was very helpful and accommodating.
Our trip was amazing. We had a smaller room at the top with ocean views. There was a huge patio shared with 3 other rooms but we mostly had if all to ourselves, because the other rooms were vacant. There was a nice pool downstairs. It was a relaxing ambiance. We saw a lot of monkeys, birds and wildlife. We walked to Manuel Antonio National Park from the hotel as well as the beach. It's also not far to drive to a park called Rainmaker Park & hike to see many waterfalls and wildlife. Highly recommended. Costa Rica is a beautiful place and we loved staying at El Faro Beach Hotel. It was clean and comfortable, had good showers, excellent breakfast choices, & a convenient location.
The view was gorgeous and even better than expected. The pool was really lovely and taken care of. Out room was cozy with a great bathroom. We loved the staff. Joseth assisted us with our bags and helped us around as well. We really enjoyed his help and his kindness added to our stay. Even though it is at the top of the hill everything thing feels very close and easy to get to. I would definitely stay again.
Staff was friendly and professional. Hotel was located at steep hill, so hard to get there specially in a hot, humid weather. They take you up there with a golf cart, when they are available. Rooms were noisy, so small, claustrophobic. Location was good, strategic to go to the Manuel Antonio National Park (6 minutes walk).
MUY AMABLES
It was interesting to stay in a container, property is very close to park and beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Loved it here , the dining and front staff were absolutely fantastic..whenever we need a ride up or down they were right there..The rooms were basic but clean and the visits from the monkeys every morning was really nice..We tooka lotsa videos ...Actually say way more wildlife there than in Manuel Antonio park ..Very walkable area with lots of restaurants nearby..We would defintely stay there again ..I would say the restaurant staff would serve us coffee as we were up at 5 am every morning ..before the breakfast service ..These guys were exceptional..
Loved our stay here, lived the area, pools & 5 min walk to the beach
visit from about 15 monkeys was our highliite of this stay!!
The stay was great. Staff were excellent and very accommodating
Interesting room construction and generally nice but a lot of surrounding noise
Great view, breakfast was simple but filling. Rooms were clean but small(they’re shipping containers after all) watch out for the neighbours in the mornings they’ll climb right up on your patio and eat any bananas you may have forgotten outside.
This property is super cool and in perfect location. A 30 second walk to Manuel Antonio National Park and about 1-3 minute walk to the beach. Stunning views from balcony.
Cute hotel and good pool. Lots of stairs but they will drive you up if needed. I would stay here again
Great location, one minute walk to MA park. Staff also very nice and helpful!
Walkable to the National Park and staff were very helpful! Overall nice stay for 1 night.
We could walk to the National park. AC in room was great. Breakfast was very good.
A short walk to Manuel Antonio with a beautiful view of the ocean and very friendly staff.
We stayed at El Faro for two nights and absolutely LOVED it. It was one of the highlights of our trip for both of our kids. The property (very steep!) is lovely and has the most beautiful views and sunsets. The pool is a great temperature and has breathtaking views. We got to see tons of capuchin monkeys (they climbed all over the hotel and onto our balcony every morning around 6:30am, and we saw them dunking themselves in and out of the pool around noon!). The restaurant has gorgeous views and the food is good and reasonably priced. The rooms - as pictured - are minimal, but comfortable. The balconies are spacious and all have wonderful views. The hotel is in an ideal location - there are several restaurant and shopping options right at the base the property, it is a two-minute walk to the Manuel Antonio park gate, and about a 4-minute walk to the beach. The hotel provides towels that you can take with you to the beach and trade in after use. I would highly recommend this hotel - we can't wait to go back!
Good hotel
The location is great
Amazing views at breakfast towards Manuel Antonio Beach. You are five minutes from the beach and two minutes from the entrance to the national park. Make sure you book a ticket in advance and organise a guide. The rooms are functional with ac and a safe but really it is all about the location. Staff were helpful and the hotel is up a hill so use the golf buggy to get your luggage to your room. Unique hotel with great location and amazing views from the restaurant.
Views for miles! And monkeys in the early morning! Excellent service, clean, safe, very nice pool. Walking to and from town is a very steep hill, which was not for me. Restaurant on site was good.
I just stayed here for 4 nights. Overall the hotel is nice. The rooms are good but the bed was uncomfortable. It felt like i was sleeping on a cot. The property is located on a very cery steep hill so it was very difficult walking up the hotel itself. They do have someone bringing you up in a golf cart though. The views from the balcony are magnificent. The food at the restaurant on site was ok.
The room was extremely small, it did not look like a hotel room. The AC was facing the bed and got me sick. The location was good.
Location, Service, Restaurant, View
Being so high up, El Faro offers an amazing view of the ocean and the jungle. We enjoy our breakfast with this view at their hotel restaurant everyday. The location is also very convenient. The entrance to Manuel Antonio park is about a block away, and the beach and restaurants are just short walk away. The staffs were professional, friendly, and helpful. We communicated with front desk via WhatsApp and got everything we needed within a few minutes, even at midnight when we had a medical emergency. We also saw some monkeys and a resident iguana on the premise which is cool.
Best hotel in Manuel Antonio :)
The best hotel in Manuel Antonio. Great food and amazing service.
Graat hotel
The hotel was great. We even had a visit at breakfast from some monkeys from Manuel Antonio Park. a very good experience, affordable food and incredible sunset view
A good option if you're stay includes a visit to the park (2 minutes) or beach (5 minute walk). Basic, clean and comfortable but a really neat theme with the containers. Staff were exceptional, in particular Carlos (Juan) in the restaurant. Food was very good and lots of variety.
Everything was great, highly recommended
It was a great hotel. Really close to Manuel Antonio national park.
Location is excellent. Right beside Manuel Antonio Park and walking distance to the beach (3 minutes) where you will see gorgeous sumsets. Caleb and staff were awesome!!!
Bad condition hotel - room not acceptable
We were in a room in front of the swimming pool, I mean 50 cm far from the swimming pool. The room was so humid it was not possible to breathe, it was dirty and in bad condition! The view from the upper room should be great though and people are nice. The hotel is in bad condition. Not recommended at all!
The staff was so nice during our stay and very helpful for arranging a few excursions and transportation services. Location is very convenient for accessing the national park and many restaurants are nearby. The hotel restaurant was great too!
5 stars
The best stay ever! :)
We stayed at El Faro over the weekend and it was the best experience we had in Manuel Antonio. The premises are clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The hotel is in the heart of Manuel Antonio, steps by the ocean and the national park entry, surrounded of restaurants, bars and stores. The rooms have A/C, a fridge and the best views of the ocean, pool and restaurant of the hotel. We loved our stay not only because of the facilities but especially because how friendly and Pura Vida spirit each one of their employees had. They were super accommodating, friendly, available and they made our stay very unique! We will for sure stay there again and we reccommend it!
The hotel is a so close to the park. The staff were amazing. Helpful, friendly and happy. Jose was the best! Took us to find restaurants that were perfect. Breakfast was very good and Carlos and staff were wonderful. Monkeys very entertaining. Check in was easy and Caleb very nice. Would stay there again and highly recommend it
The view of my room was beautiful and the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.
Amazing place to Stay very secure! I left the Window of my car open by mistake for 2 days and Nothing inside was stolen
IT was 10 mins. from Manual Antonio, so close and convenient. All restaurants were within 2-3 blocks.
El Faro was perfect for us. Everything we wanted and needed for our Basecamp during our Costa Rica adventure!!
The staff was great and kind
The best part of the stay at El Faro Beach Hotel was the personal customer service that all of the employees give. The best is Juan Carlos. He took us everywhere in the golf cart, even picked us up from the bar. Remember, this hotel is made of shipping containers, so it’s very eco friendly.
The hotel is good. Bad experience with the rooms bed, making noise every time you move and not confort to sleep properly.
Like: Very close to Manuel Antonio park Don't like: weird rooms, very small, very basic
Amazing view.
A beautiful spot. Staff are all amazing helpful. The restaurant is a great addition to hotel. Hill is bit of a climb but with golf cart shuttle it’s just fine.
.
Up on the hill and no available elevator to get upstairs.
I don’t like the way is the answer very difficult to get into that to the room
Amazing location next to the park. The view itself is breathtaking. We didn’t even go the beach as the sunsets were spectacular & the pools refreshing. The breakfast & the service were very good. If you’re looking for quietness, keep in mind that you are sleeping in a container which can result in a bit of noise due to the structure. No need for a car & you have other restaurants & shops to choose from. We had an awesome time thank you!
Prepare to walk
You have to climb a lot of stairs, elevator didn´t work.
Great location in Manuel Antonio, come to the Beach and to the Manuel Antonio reserve park.
Simple and clean.
If you are looking for an affordable, clean, place to stay - El Faro meets your needs. Nothing fancy - comfortables beds with great breakfast - included.
Completely disappointed with the way this property is advertised. Bed sheets had stained on them / one bed was stinking / bathroom walls had some kind of blood stains on them. We didn’t even feel comfortable going up and down the hill to tell not so friendly staff how bad our room was . I found new hotel next days and checked out of this property. For. Reference we checked in around 8 pm and checked out around 1 pm next day . There was no way I could sleep in the room with kids for one more day . I will never recommend this to folks traveling with kids . This is best called as motel with very little amenities or service . Proximity to beach and park is the ONLY plus . Worst experience!
This was a fun hotel to stay in. While the containers may not be the ideal shape for a room they have plenty of space, the rooms are done nicely with lots of power outlets, a comfortable bed, TV and all the things that you would expect from a hotel. one word of advice, don't leave your door open since the monkeys around can get into your room from the patio area. I'm lucky they took some food from my room and not my laptop. the surrounding area at Manuel Antonio is amazing I've been here several times and I'm always pleased with my visit.
I really enjoyed my stay here. I will definitely return there.
My stay was amazing. The view from the property is mesmerizing. The staff is warm and helpful. The food at the restaurant is good as well. I would highly recommend staying there.
The staff especially the owner was terrible. It is as if she was doing you a favor serving breakfast, which we had to wait for over 30 minutes. We left and had breakfast at another restaurant. Not worth it.
The location and view were great. The staff as well.
Extremely FALSE advertising!!!
Everything about the advertisement for this hotel was misleading. There was no functioning restaurant/bar which meant we had to trek up and down 15 flights of stairs plus a perilously steep hill because both of their elevators were broken the entire time we were there. The stairs were dangerously broken as well and we had to haul our 40+lb suitcases up and down hazardous stairs. We are lucky we did not break our necks. The room we were given had an extremely strong chemical smell. They gave us a different room that smelled less of chemicals but we really had no choice but to stay where we were as our choices were to spend all day dealing with the issues or go into the only other hotel with vacancy with a $350 a night price tag. I tried numerous times to contact Hotels.com to speak to a person so I could turn the phone over to the manager to resolve this but Hotels.com continuously disconnected me and never got me to a live person. The manager Sergio said he’d be happy to refund us but had to speak to Hotels.com right then and we would have been refunded and on our way to search for another place to stay. I was unable to get a hold of anyone at Hotels.com. I called and called and just kept getting disconnected or told to press different numbers to get to an agent but never got to a live person. The 2 people who worked there were friendly and accommodating but that’s where the pleasantries of this place ended.
Sun set suite
Hotel has been cloesd for what seems like awhile, you pay for the view definitely nice for the area. It’s got all the amenities but they don’t use them, pictures are deceiving, there was no patio furniture to enjoy the sunset with the suite. The pools water level was low. They don’t operate the swim up bar, no restaurant but they do offer a free small filling breakfast on the rooftop which is nice. If you can get this hotel for below average price definitely worth it until they start using the amenities it used to.
Great concept. Best views for the micro area. Steep hill. Bit of echoes inside.
great location, ocean view if you are in a top floor, short walk to the national park and beatiful public beach.
Amazing! Front desk window was nice and kind !!! Room was great!!!! I loved everything about there !!!! Breakfast banana pancakes the best !!!
Mas or menos
The lower room we first got was very hot and no air conditioning ( it was broken) the safe locked me out and they had to use a crowbar and a hammer to open it. After 3 hours we finally were moved to the top floor with a beautiful view of the area The sunsets from this perspective are out of control beautiful. The inconvenience was out weighed by the smiles attitudes and kindness of the staff. I’d go back any day if I can be on the top floors
During our stay at the hotel, we experienced issues with the water as I had to call in everyday to get hotel staff to get them to check the water pump daily, we had no hot water and all facilities were closed except one of the pools. Also breakfast was served at another hotel
Was just ok
Nothing special. Pretty old facilities
The WORST “hotel”.
The Hotel is not in condition to receive guest, and they are promoting themselves as if they have everything perfectly working. The hotel has a parking area, but to get to the rooms we have to use a golf car, but it was not always available. The restaurant is closed, then we have to eat the breakfast in another hotel, and it is not walking distance. The stairs don’t have lights, then at night is a huge risk to use them. The personal try their best to help us, but the administrator was the worse. The hotel doesn’t have water all the time, the water supply was intermittent. They only have one of the pools available. The rooms are smelly. I won’t come back to this hotel, and I won’t recommend it to anyone… the worst motel you can find is better and cheaper than this “hotel”.
.
Nice staff. The property is run down
The main thing is that they do not know how to process orders through Expedia. They waited until I was back in The States to charge me AGAIN. Thank you, Expedia for your excellent customer service and resolution regarding this issue! Other issues: Cold water shower (other units had only scalding water), sink plugged up, elevator was broken, only a sheet on the bed, restaurant closed, no lights at night at the pool.
Excited but got disappointed :c
I went there with my mom and my cousin. We were assigned to one room. But once we got in the room we noticed the bed sheets were dirty and stained and so we're the towels. We asked to be re-arranged to other room. And we were. But we got in the room and there was not toilet paper or hot water in the shower. Breakfast is plain and flavorless. Location is convenient but room pictures in booking sites are not what the rooms actually look like. I'm disappointed. Price is only based on location not amenities.
The hotel is not like in photos, the infrastructure is very old and bad customer service.
The rooms are shipping containers - quite unique. There are 2 pools with loungers. The restaurant serves good food but a bit expensive. The staff is fabulous! Very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located on a steep slope but they have drivers with golf carts to take you up and down. Once in the parking lot there are elevators.
Container hotel.. needs better containers
i understand the container thing.. fine. But if your gonna skimp on the construction, at least upgrade other things to make it an nice experience.. service was great with the hotel check in , but the first day breakfast guy tried to tell me that the chipped plate he served my omelette on was that way from the factory.. really? cmon man.. more than 1 chipped plate / cup were used.. just not very professional.. wood painted floors? Just felt like they were trying to pinch every penny.. turned us off.. won't be going back. The staff was great except for the one waiter, but the hotel seemed like it was being run with expenses as the #1
Very uncomfortable
There was no door or curtain for shower. We had to be careful when taking shower so water did not fall out. Bed was so uncomfortable making noise. We won't recommend to family or friends to stay here.

Swimming pools were great, we enjoyed it thoroughly, but the loud music from the restaurant was ruining the peace.
