Brett was very helpful, got an upgrade, the room was great, and the bed was soooo comfortable.

Should be 1st choice

Absolutely stellar place, owner is super cool & helpful, kitchen & dining area great. located 2 minute walk from PaknSave, 6 minutes from bicycle rental. Great value!

My mistake it is a backpacker facility where I am used to stay in the high end hotels so no offence

Fantastic!

Walkable distance to Bowl of Brooklands was great. Close to supermarkets. Have stayed previously in a self contained unit, (which was good) but this time in the back packer side, Room was clean and airey, but the noise level was bad from other guests returning from concert and ,especially from 5 am with 2 or 3 groups leaving then, Ended up checking out at 6.30am too , Overall place was good but bathroom facilities for guests overdue for a upgrade, Would return again though.

The manager was incredibly rude immediately to us on arrival because we accidentally parked in his space. There were not enough toilets or bathrooms and we often had to wait. The whole place was a bit run down, ants in bedroom, cockroach in bathroom, webs on bedroom ceiling. No information given about kitchen closures and we were blindsided by that. Nice lounge area.

It’s all good. Nothing flash and place is dated but Staff were nice. For the price can’t complain

Older property with a few squeaky floorboards but was quiet overall. Big kitchen to use, was kept clean by users. Bathroom ok, brown toilet bowl was a concern. Good bed and clean bedroom. Well situated in town.

Access to parking could have been better

This was a wonderful stay! Spacious, clean and very cute.

Nice place, has everything you need for a stay. In a safe and quiet neighbourhood. Very close to New World/ Countdown for food shops. Brett at reception was very friendly and welcoming. Comfy beds. Showers take a little while to heat up so it felt like I was wasting water but the hot water came through eventually. Would definitely recommend Duck & Drakes!

Brett was great, supportive, and has a caring personality...carried my bags from the car as i was on crutches. My bed was very comfortable with a nice view out on the courtyard. The kitchen has everything and there is a large lounge, sun/day room and dinning room...spacious, tidy and clean. Great value for money.

Good stay

Nice room with closet. Easy parking on the street. Great host. Big kitchen and fridges.

This is our accommodation of choice when we go to Ngāmotu (New Plymouth). The separate accommodation is excellent, and the location is fantastic.

Pleasant stay, not so pleasant weather.

I chose a one-bedroom cottage unit for our stay to give us a bit of extra room. I thought that by staying at Ducks & Drakes, we would be able to walk to some of the New Plymouth sites and this was the case. I also wanted to use the shuttle service to get to the National Park, but instead Brett recommended another company that offered private 3-hour city tours which suited our needs better, particularly as the weather was not great.

Just about right for our trip. Excellent

Not used to sharing a bathroom but it worked out ok. Bret was friendly and helpful, bed was comfortable .

This was a wonderful place to stay with a really homely feel and beautiful common areas. Easy walking distance to the town, with two supermarkets just across the road.

Great location, we stayed in a cottage really comfortable

Great communication, pleasant and very accommodating staff at check-in. Room was large and clean. Only thing I would want added would be a fan as it gets really warm in the summer

The house is really such a cute space - you really feel like you are in someone's very cosy home, from the decor, the fireplace, and even the lovely dogs! Service was friendly and helpful, everything was clean and tidy from the bathrooms to the kitchen, and I had a wonderful stay.

I liked the room - it was cute and comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful too.

This was not what was advertised booked single room with twin bed not tiny room with single bed. Will not be returning.

Great place

Found the property fairly easily, room good size and close to loo and shower so no problem not en-suite. Friendly and helpful owners, laundry available and short walk down hill to centre

nice hostel

Facility was in very good condition for a hostel. I stayed 4 nights in a private single room and would return. Great location. Walking distance to downtown and several grocery stores within a few blocks. But just a couple of blocks from the business zone in a quiet neighborhood.

Great for a backpackers kind of place

We don’t normally stay at backpackers / hostel type places but this place is a cut above, really nice private rooms with nice common baths. Great on site owner, very well run.

Needed to upgrade to an ensuite, handled very well and a comfortable room.

Comfortable place close to the CBD

1 bedroom cabin walking distance to CBD. Nice room, only missing few little things like dish cloth, tea towel and light globe in lamp. Staff very nice, friendly. Fire alarm went off at 2 am which was a horrible shock in the middle of the night! think it was just a false alarm. Overall, had everything we needed/expected. Stairs to room could be problem for some with heavy luggage. Was at good price, can’t complain.

You get what you pay for - small, old but clean

Price worthy and central in New Plymouth. Walking distance to supermarkets and downtown. Limited parking. $5 extra for sauna if you book through hotels.com Little out dated but clean room. Room not cleaned daily but towel changed. Heather (and hot water bottle...)in the room. Would not live here with my family but alone for a few nights is OK.

Ducks and Drakes ideal for great value stay

Great value place for a stay in New Plymouth. Reasonable size room, comfy bed, clean bathrooms. Kitchen not the biggest, but fine when not busy.

Cute and comfortable

Stayed in one of the motel units. It was great, really cute decor and super spacious with everything you could need. Much more comfortable and quieter than the hotels in the city area I usually stay in but still close to the main cbd.

Energetic backpackers / motel in New Plymouth

Cottage room is very comfortable. Reasonably close to town. Close to supermarket.

Back packers / cheap accommodation

Satisfactory for a back packers. Convenient location to and from town.

Convenient to the town centre

Cozy place. Colourful design. Staff were accomodating. Kitchen was nice and tidy.

Reality of room substantially different to photo.

Hostel was clean and tidy - but old and basic. Photo didn't represent this. Room needed a paint and had threadbare carpet. Toilets and shower were clean but aged and marked. Bed, pillows, and bedding also showing their age. Curtains were cute but looked to have been sewn together from salvage find sheets.

Wouldn't stay again- facilities are kept clean as far as I could tell but hugely outdated-place is 2-3 decades due for a renovation. Accessibility is awkward with stairs and no on site parking which was a problem for me but hosts allowed me to park in cottage car parks thankfully otherwise I would have had to forfeit my room and go elsewhere.

Very central place, only minutes walk to center.

When I arrived at the Ducks and Drake's i was told by the proprietor that I had been upgraded to a suite with kitchen facilities and bathroom. What a pleasant surprise. The room was clean and the bed quite comfortable. I was also offered WiFi. All in all a nice stay, I would definitely recommend The Ducks and Drake's .

Groovy Accommodation

Loved the friendliness of staff and was given a full tour of the facilities so no chance of getting lost while staying. Awesome cosy funky accomodation. Was perfect for my stay and close to town.

Lovely older building well restored

Nice bed and room . Good kitchen facilities dining and lounge.very clean and friendly. Only issue with it was not very good sound insulation between rooms but not a biggie.

Good motel

It was fantastic. The motel is so nice n comfortable. I'll recommend this motel. Little far from the coastal walkway. But still good.
