Location is perfect

The location of the Hotel is excellent. Just come out of exit F of Loumashi on line 4 of metro, its on your left. We stayed on the 40th floor. Views are excellent. It's walkable distance from Tianfu Square and many other attractions. Breakfast is excellent.

Incredible breakfast offerings!

Pros: Hotel looks really posh and clean, the room was nice too. It's on the affordable range. You can easily find authentic Sichuan cuisine and products nearby. The metro is a walkable 3 minutes, there is a lift that goes from the ground floor to the station. It is also near Tianfu central shopping district, just a metro stop away. Many of the main tourist spots are just one or two metro stops away. Cons: The WC is seated pretty low and seat isn't heated, so it can be pretty harsh in a colder climate. P.S I can't really account for the staff being able to speak English because I communicated everything in Chinese.

We had a great stay during our recent trip to Chengdu, will stay in this hotel when ever we are back in Chengdu

Centrally located. Right next to Subway station for line 1 & 4 trains. My room is pretty big and quite clean. Staff is very friendly. Only improvement I’d recommend is to replace carpet with vinyl flooring. But for the price and convenience, it’s a perfect place and I will definitely stay there in my future trips back to Chengdu.

No real in-room coffee and no take away coffee from the cafe. Other than that, pretty awesome.

Fantastic property in the centrecity

We had an absolute great stay at this property. From the central location, meters away from the metro entrance and walking distance to the central square and nearby sights; to the level of comfort and care provided by every member of the staff. Very welcoming and helpful, willing to care at all the times. The room was splendid! Super large, so well taken care and prepared, quiet and comfortable, and so high up with that great views. A shower and a bath in a very large bathroom area. The breakfast was marvellous, we had access to the Lounge, hence it was prepared on the go and fresh as you come. Top property!

We loved our first stay so much, we recommended it to our friends, and we all came back here for 4 days. Dorsett is beautiful, the suite was given as an upgrade, the value was fantastic. The dining was world-class, and the service is the best you can find anywhere in the world. They knock themselves out trying to please you, and it seems they always do!

The Hotel has wonderful space, nice interior design, comfortable with light and air flow. Great balancing Of the elements. International food dishes are delicious and authentic. The staffs and all divisions of service are excellent, friendly and kindness to me.

First class service

Excellent service. Surpassed our expectations by resolving an issue I had with a parcel being delivered, even after we had checked out. Special thanks to the manager of concierge Cloud Tao for going the extra mile.

Likes: The room, it was spacious more like a suite with seperate seating area and another TV. Good views. Beautiful bathroom with double sinks and stand alone bath, plus enclosed shower. Electric powered curtain function. Modern room but with a touch of traditional design. Doormen polite. Dislikes: the room smelt a bit of smoke despite being a non smoking room, it also had ash trays. Dinner service, we went to restaurant for buffet but the area was busy being used on the evening that 76 we decided to go. Breakfast was nice, having all the standard foods available, waiting staff didn't clear the tables quickly enough in my opinion. But were courteous and helpful with any requests. Carrefour shop a short walk down the road plus coffee shops and cake shops near.

I booked a room with two large single beds, and was given the right type of room for smokers. I then requested to change to a non smoking room and was given a smaller room with two smaller beds.

Great stay

Really good hotel for a reasonable price. The metro station is literally next door, so very convenient. And thanks to the staff. I had my phone stolen (not at the hotel) and they were very helpful in sorting that out. Good breakfast options. Only things: the fridge wasn't great, with no freezer, and wi fi was slow.

Declined Over Time

I’ve been staying at this hotel for the past four years. With mold in the showers, clogging drains that flood the bathroom, stained carpets, peeling wallpaper, and damaged walls, this is my last stay. We even switched rooms and things didn’t improve. The first room had a moldy shower shade, but even if it was used, you could still see the person in the bathroom. After a night, we switched to a new room, which had an after market film on the glass, giving privacy to the bathroom. However, after two minutes in the shower, I realized the drain wasn’t working and the bathroom had flooded!! What once was a delightful hotel at a great bargain, has increased 33% in price and dropped 50% in quality. Such a shame, especially since this was part of a graduation gift to my brother.

Okay hotel

The room was okay. The fitness center didn't really have any equipment other then treadmills and the room was quite worn out. Plenty of carpet stains. Bed was hard. Easy access to busy areas and service was friendly

Short stay, good experience

We stayed short time in transit to Lijiang, it’s a good Hotel, in a good location. Next to the subway, which is brand new, safe and very clean. All together we had a good experience.

My favourite hotel in Chengdu

I always enjoy staying at the Dorsett Grand when I visit Chengdu. The staff are friendly and most speak english. The buffet breakfast is excellent and the rooms very comfortable. Lydia and Sherry always make me feel welcome.

Comfortable stay

Nice hotel, very clean and convenient, next to the train station

Nice hotel close to many touring attractions, next to Luomashi subway station, excellent location. The breakfast buffet is of high quality and delicious. The staff welcomes guests with smiling faces and good services. The only drawback is the unsightly mold at the sink corners which cannot be washed away by regular daily cleaning and has to be resolved by re-gaulking the basin/counter joint. The mildew stain on the shower wall requires a stronger mildew-removing agent than the regular detergent. Overall speaking I'm quite happy with my 3-day stay at Dorsett Hotel and would like to see the mildew/mold problem get resolved for better customer satisfaction in the future.

Close to Metro, Helpful Staff

Hotel room was large and clean. Air conditioning worked great. Room was not smokey even though they said they did not have a non-smoking room available. Wasn’t a great view out the back of the hotel but whatever. Concierge was very helpful. Arranged several taxis during the trip and communicated the destination for us. Taxi to Panda Research base between 30-40 rmb from this hotel. Great Hot-Pot restaurant right across the street. If look during dinner time, you will see a large crowd of people waiting outside. At least an hour+ wait. We went at lunch time and got right in. They don’t speak any English though but will help you the best they can. Easy to get to Hotel if you take the Metro to Luomashi Station and then one of the exits is right beside the hotel. I can’t remember which one. Either way, once you figure out the correct metro exit, then accessing it the rest of the trip is a breeze.

Great stay would recommend

Good size room in a very smart hotel. The shower had a blind which protected privacy to the room. Massive buffet selection for breakfast & really helpful staff. It's about a 2min walk to the metro station, plus there's also a very popular tofu restaurant opposite. Would recommend

Seen better days?

Our stay at the Dorsett Grand was satisfactory. Service was polite and the staff were all friendly and eager to help. Our only concern was with maintenance of light switches and plumbing. This should not be a guest’s concern. We were not able to turn off the bathroom light and the bathroom basin drained very slowly. I do think the Dorsett has seen better days and maybe in need of a facelift now.

Great City Views

For the price this hotel was very pleasing but I certainly wouldn't consider it a 4 star hotel. Stayed 2 nights. Receptionist spoke good english. The room was a king room - huge! Amazing city views from the bedroom and the bathroom. The carpet was stained and quite dirty, the decor certainly hasn't been updated in some time. Bed was super comfy though! WiFi connection was good. I wouldn't recommend the restaurants if you are only English speaking. The staff didn't speak any and it was quite hard to communicate what we wanted to order or ask any questions on the menu. There are however so amazing restaurants directly opposite the hotel which are well worth trying! Location is good - right next to a metro station which accessed us to the Panda Research Base and to the main stations to get the train to Leshan.

Filthy hotel. Never been in a hotel like this in my life. Stinks and filthy carpets. Filthy bathroom and commits so low can’t even sit down and get up from it.

Good hotel in the city centre

Convenient and clean hotel

The location is close to MRT station and shopping area. There are good eating place nearby. We were upgraded to a suit when we arrived late due to flight delay.

Layover stay

We decided to stay here on our layover rather than sleep in the airport. Thank God that we did. I have forgotten that when professional Chinese people are servicing you, they give you the best. This is exactly what the staff here did. I don't speak any Chinese, yet they staff did their best to make sure I understood what was going on, where my bags were (when we left them at the counter to go explore), and who/how I was getting back to CTU. The taxi cost each way is around 60-63 CNY. Also, we stayed on the 34th floor. We had an excellent view of the city. This place in conveniently next door to the underground railway, one stop from the Kuan Zhai Alley. I recommend.

Great location and service

Located next to a metro station as well as being centrally located, I walked to major sights such as People’s Park and Wenshu Temple. The Dorsett is a lovely hotel with a great breakfast as well as exemplary service. Right from the moment I arrived till I left, I received the utmost attention and assistance right from the reception and concierge to the restaurant, room service and housekeeping. I was always greeted with big smiles, a thing that was so appealing during my visit to Chengdu.

Excellent hotel with excellent service and price

Subway station is right downstairs which almost takes you to anywhere in the city. The most popular Sichuan hot pot restaurant is at the other side of the street. Rooms are spacious and clean; the included breakfast is amazing. We want to give a special thanks to the young man “Zhang ke(billy)” who has taken care of us by providing us superb professional service from beginning to end. We would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Chengdu.

Great staff

The staff at the Dorsett Grand were amazing. They were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay espcially Gabby, Derek, Cloudy Tao, and Young Yue. The room was great and the location was good near a metro station and good food. We would stay here again.

Very nice n comfortable stays. Very helpfuls front desk Staffs. And just infront of subway station , which one can easily transfer from airport straight right to hotel. Off-course need 3 transfer to get there.

Nice hotel in the heart of the city centre

Staff are friendly, location is excellent. Breakfast is delicious. However, we can smell cigarette smoke on the non smoking floor where we stayed. Not sure if there is something the hotel staff can do to prevent smokers to smoke at non smoking floors.

Short trip to Chengdu

Location was good as very close to subway exit F making travelling with subway very easy. Service was very good as staff helped to book train tickets (including pickup) and opera tickets. Breakfast was also good but some people smoked during breakfast and in the lift. As for non-smoking rooms, I think the hotel should only reserve non-smoking floors for non-smokers only.

Convenient hotel located next to metro

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Other than having trouble communicating in English with some of the staff members, it was an okay experience. Arrived at the hotel when the restaurants nearby and inside the hotel were closed and decided to order room service. Unfortunately, had a hard time placing the order (staff didn’t understand English) and instead of getting a beef lasagna they prepared a beef salad. It took over an hour to finally get our meal. Hotel is located right by the Luomashi metro station.

Good location but urgently needs refurbishment

Great location. Close to metro and great restaurants. Hotel condition is quite old, the bathroom water gets everywhere. I requested to change rooms several times during our 5 day stay but other rooms have broken aircon or stink of smoke (non-smoking room).

Superb service and very hard-working staff. As an international professor, I am well-travelled and have stayed in many hotels around the world but this hotel really stands out for quality service. Again, its staff really tries hard. It is the best bargain in Chengdu. It is centrally located. I highly recommend it!

Road works

On arrival we saw hoardings due to roadworks so obscured hotel entrance. However lobby welcome still very good. Consierge helpful. Taxi to Panda Base about 50RMB get there for 8 am opening to see early feeding outside on hot day. Can walk to monastery one way and shopping walking street another not much just near hotel.

Nice hotel in Chengdu center

We stayed at this hotel twice for 9 nights at this hotel. It is right at the exit of subway station and in the center of city. It is clean and staff are friendly. One drawback is that the wall is thin and we heard some noise from next room once.

Good location，so so room comfort

The location was good，close to many restaurants and steps from the metro station，but the hotel room itself was very dirty with spots all over the carpet. Was also not a big fan of the window connecting the room to the washroom，as under the correct lighting conditions，even with the blinds closed，one can see quite clearly into the shower room and toilet. Also be aware that even if you request a non-smoking room，you may still end up with a smoking room as there was a 2 hour wait for a non-smoking room.

Excellent hotel

Overall it was excellent. The hotel is also conveniently located next to a subway station which makes it very easy to move around the city. We had problems with our A/c which was set to a certain temperature and i was extremely hot. However we notified the concierge and the problem was fixed almost immediately. This is a beautiful hotel and we had amazing views from our room. The food at the breakfast buffet was very good too,

Next to a Subway Station at the center of Chengdu

We stayed there for a total of 5 (1,2,2) nights while we were visiting Chengdu and the surrounding areas. First the staffs speak English. It was a surprise since we had travel to Hangzhou, suzhou and Nanjing two months ago. There maybe one or two staffs who can speak English. Here at Dorsett Grand, most of the front desk staffs speak good English. They were also very friendly and helpful, ready to give sight-seeing suggestions. Lina Tang helped us check in when we returned from Mt Emei. Our room came with one breakfast. When we mentioned that we couldn't use the pre-paid breakfast on one of our days and would like use two pre-paid breakfast on the same day. She said that the hotel wouldn't allow us to do that, but she somehow got us a complimentary breakfast coupon. We had a pleasant stay - clean, good breakfast, comfy bed, next to a subway station, friendly staffs, across from well known restaurants and excellent value. Will certainly come again.

Pleasant stay at Dorsett

Next to hotel, a hawker stall selling very nice tim sum and porridge and just at the side of hotel a nice noodle shop for breakfast. Near to Carrefour and shopping mall. Opposite a popular hot pot shop and taufoo shop.

very happy & satisfied with Dorsett. So close (2mins) to the train station (laomashi station). we took a cab from chengdu airport as we arrived at around 1130pm. it cost us 78 yuan and took us 15-20 mins. all the staff was super friendly and most could speak English. we would totally stay here again!

Not well.managed: hotel TV touts buy 1 gets 1 free happy hour at the hotel lounge; no such except being shown after 10 minutes an old wine list by the glass; 2 types of white & red at ¥90+ and ¥170+ per glass. Check out: only 2 at counter, one being new & inexperience. With only 2 ahead, nearly took half hour to complete checkout. Lacking in management, typical.of owner treatinh property as a real estate play!

A nice hotel next to subway station

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, and had a pleasant time there. The staff went out of their way to assist you. The room was magnificent, especially on the second night when they upgraded my room to a larger room free of charge - with a bathtub and a grand bathroom overlooking Chengdu skyscrapers. Breakfast was, on the whole, good. The location was excellent from its proximity to a subway station. Overall, when flying to Chengdu again, I will definitely be staying there.

Great location. In the center of town and also near metro. Great rooms. Restaurants need more action. They should be doing things to bring people in for happy hour....which seems to be in the cafe but not the bar. Areas are beautiful but bare.

Great value for money

The hotel is certainly good value for money. It is very centrally located close to both local and international shopping, as well as directly opposite to a great hot pot restaurant, Also it is only about 40 minutes from the present airport.

Good customer services, room was very warm the first night we stayed. When we returned from a short trip away out of the city. They supplied us with additional fan and complimentary. Breakfast is very nice too!

Nice hotel to stay at in Chengdu

Third time staying at this hotel and booked around 5-6 rooms for my family members and friends for my wedding. I did notice that even when I book the exact same type of rooms, the rooms themselves might look the same but the amenities that was in each rooms differed... shouldn't be like that.

Excellent hotel with convenient location

I was very happy with my stay. This was my second stay at the Dorsett in Chengdu. The staff is always helpful and courteous, room service was great, the room was spacious and clean. The train station is near the hotel and there are lots of eateries in the area. My only disappointment is the smell of smoke in the elevators and the gym.

Excellent service & close to city center

I'm here for 2 weeks and am traveling to the outskirts of chengdu, I didn't want to carry all my luggages since it's 3d2n so I request if I could put my spare luggages, since I'm checking back in the hotel. They agreed with no hassle, very fervently following up to ensure we got our items and itinerary gone well.
