We’ve just returned from a 4 night stay in a one bedroom residence with our 13 year old daughter. Lovely facilities, calm environment, easy , pleasant stroll to the harbour and to the lovely beach (Praia de Falésia), good food and warm, well trained staff. We enjoyed a an insightful fun cork worskshop arranged for hotel guests. Perhaps the hotel team can’t take credit for the 5 days of clear sunny 18 degree daily weather, but that did add to a perfect post Christmas mini break.

Staying at Domes Lake Algarve for my Birthday was the best decision. They welcomed me and my family and made us feel great. The food at Topos restaurant at night was excellent. The breakfast was also very good. We enjoyed the inside pool and Sauna everyday for an hour. And the Kids Club was also a nice option. On my birthday they left me a delicious cake at my room and a bootle of wine. Thank you so much for all the little details and attentions!. The room was spacious and in good condition. The pools are magnificent. Overall one of the best experiences in a hotel in Europe. I’ll definitely come back again. It was worth every penny.

Great stay. Issue with our room which was dealt with professionally and quickly by the team. Moved to another room which was great. All of the staff at the hotel were excellent. Always cheerful and incredibly helpful. Big shout out to Mona who looked after us at breakfast for three days. He was excellent.

Romantic getaway for two!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at this 5-star resort! It is the type of place I look forward to returning to. Super safe and peaceful property with trustworthy employees. The staff really go out of their way to be kind and we felt each of them did an excellent job! The hotel room had a thoughtful design with plenty of space for two. I enjoyed that the toilet was in a different room than the shower. As we were there a week, I also found the large closet system well designed. I couldn't wait to open up the large window door each morning to allow the fresh warm sea breeze air inside! My favorite part of each day was the (included) breakfast buffet. It was really the highlight to starting the day off right. Plus we found no rush in waking up early, as it's open until 11am! What a treat! We also enjoyed slowly walking around the property and taking in all of the trees and birds. The large lake is also fully stocked with different types of friendly fish to watch. There were four different pools (one being adult only). An indoor spa with a Turkish bath, Roman bath, salt water Jacuzzi, and a Sauna. I was able to book in for a hair trim and blowdry, and both my husband and I got facials too. The actual beach is just a short walk around the lake on property, over a bridge outside, and you're there! Very convenient. And a quieter stretch of beach opposed to the main strips. Although this was a relaxing time away for us, we still had to work. Excellent wifi & desk. :)

Beautiful property with great facilities. We loved the proximity to the beach! The breakfast buffet was great! They also surprised me with a cake and champagne on my birthday! A lovely surprise!

The customer service at reception is spectacular, the staff are always kind and willing to help. The environment is splendidly clean.

A great hotel with some great features

We stayed for a week at The Domes and really enjoyed it. The food at the staff are amazing. Plus the pools and grounds are up there with the best that we've ever seen. These things really make it special and 5 star. The only things that lose it a start (which is harsh) is that the hotel is a little tired in some places. The refit clearly targeted some key areas like the restaurants and parts of the rooms. But the indoor pool is now very dated for a 5 star hotel. The other thing that we felt that it lacked was entertainment or things to do. The kids club is good but apart from that there wasn't much for the kids to do other than swim. So a week felt quite long. Particularly as Villamoura really has nothing to it.

The hotel is fantastic for all demographics. There were great food options in the hotel and the marina nearby had some choice restaurants as well. There is a heated pool and a regular pool, so everyone's preference is catered for.

Beatiful setting, nice porperty with lake, close to beach and marina. The hotel was not aware of my Expedia status at check-in. When I mentioned the upgrade I was entilted to based on availabilty they said they were fully booked even though thye were still selling rooms online in the next category for the same dates.

overall a 5* resort although the Tennis court was in desperate need of repair with a torn surface and the outdoor gym needed refurbishing as it contained old and rusty cardio equipment not designed for outdoor use.

Superb hotel - everything there for a holiday - pools , boating lake for kayaks , spa - choice of restaurants , small private beach in hotel grounds tennis courts , good room service - and all within 5 minutes walking of marina with bars restaurants and small beachwear/ tourist shops - hard to find any fault

This is a beautiful property with wonderful staff and facilities. The only tiny negative for us was the playground as the equipment isn't very child friendly and the ground can be mucky. We can't wait to visit again.

However, Some parts of the property were fraying at the edges at best, and housekeeping often lacking in cleanliness and attention to detail. A faded 5 star hotel that has the potential to be great again with some focused effort.

We had a fantastic stay at The Domes Lake. We could not fault a thing. From arriving with the car and the full valet service, to the check out with one of their many friendly staff at reception. The hotel was incredibly clean and well maintained. The outdoor areas, including the three outside pools, were all well kept. The food was also fantastic. There was so much choice at breakfast, and the dinner at Topos was one of the best we’ve ever had - special shoutout to the pork dish with chimichurri, best chimichurri I’ve ever had. Honestly, I could write an essay about great this hotel is. Everything was perfect and we wound happily return and recommend highly.

My wife and I had the best 3 night's away here at Doms Lake. We couodnt fault the place and it really was made special when they went the extra mile for my wife's 40th birthday. Staff were unreal, food was great, grounds were great and everything about this place was fantastic. First time in Portugal and what a way to spend it. Thanks everyone at Doms Lake

This was our first stay since the refurbishment. I can’t fault it at all. The hotel was lovely, spacious and very clean. The staff were really warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait to return soon.

Très mauvaise expérience

malheureusement, c'est le pire séjour hotelier depuis longtemps, nous avons été tellement déçu que nous avons quitté l'hotel, déjà mercredi pour aller dans un autre hotel, il n'y a pas grand chose, qui a fonctionné, nous avons reçu une chambre, avec vue sur un chantier bruyant,ensuite nous avons du attendre 16h30, pour recevoir la chambre, malgré notre arrivée, à 14h50, ensuite chaque jour, la chambre était nettoyée, partiellement, que très tard, souvent après 16h00, malgré le panneau Make the Room, à 8h30 du matin.... ensuite , le matin, les chaises des piscines, sont occupé avec des linges, dès 8h00, déjà, alors que les gens arrivent vers 11h00, l'hotel ne fait rien, contre cela, un autre point très négatif, pas de surveillance, aux piscines, le monsieur en jaune, n'est jamais à contrôler, et il pourrait arriver une noyade facilement, au moins dans une piscine, pour les enfants. C'est donc actuellement dangereux, pour les enfants le domes lake, et on annonce , une piscine chauffée, mais on a controlé les 3 piscines, elles sembles tous avoir, la température normale, par de chauffage, malgré un panneau, qui écrit 15 pour une et l'autre 25..... C'est pas très sérieux. Le service des boissons, à la piscine, ne commence qu'à 11h00, et si vous arrivez à 8h15 .... vous attendez presque 3 heures, pour pouvoir avoir, une boisson, malgré notre demande, au monsieur, qui donne les linges, qui eux aussi, manquent souvent. Les toilettes publiques, sont cassés et sales, à la piscine.

Great hotel. We had a wonderful stay.

Beautiful quiet hotel with gorgeous grounds. Staff are lovely and friendly. They go out of their way to help. The beach is a short walk away and the hotel provides sun beds (if you book ahead of time). However, there was no service whatsoever there, so we ended up sitting by the pool instead. All in all we had a lovely relaxing time and would absolutely recommend.

We stayed for 10 days and found the whole experience excellent. The food at breakfast and the restaurants was great in terms of quality and choice but the staff made the holiday. All were friendly happy to talk and help when needed. Specific mention to Thiana and Alexandrie on guest relations were very helpful especially Thiana. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay and would recommend the hotel. I hadn’t been to Vilamoura for a few years and the Marina area has changed a bit and is move lively and has lost its feeling of exclusivity

An amazing hotel that we keep coming back to. Fantastic location, beautiful scenery, great staff and brilliant breakfast. Rooms are beautiful with huge bed and lovely linen. The wine tasting event and mixology class were ace. Can’t recommend more highly.

Well where do I start.... What a stunning hotel! It's truly beautiful with the lake as a focal point in the lovely gardens, the other side of the swimming pools. On arrival we were welcomed and offered refreshments in a lounge area while our registration was sorted out and the forms were brought to us. We stayed on the garden side of the hotel. Beautifully clean bedroom with lots of storage to unpack. Room's were made up and cleaned everyday... such a great part of being away and having a proper break. Loved the little balcony which I sat on to catch a little sun, when it came out.... Breakfast was included in our deal and there was a lot of choice. I can highly recommend the freshly made omelettes and freshly squeezed orange juice. The weather wasn't great while we were in Portugal, but it was lovely to be able to walk to Vilamoura Marina - take a little look around the shops and have a drink whilst people watching. I just want to summarise our trip by saying thank you so much to all the amazing staff! Every single member of staff we came into contact with were just so kind, attentive and friendly. They really couldn't do enough for us.

Beautiful property, though it’s showing some age (carpet in hallways, wood finishing in doors around property and in room) and we had a few opportunities in our room (toilet seat didn’t seem to fit the toilet making it awkward to use properly, blow dryer shorted out, and quite the infestation of spiders on the patio). Additionally we supposedly received an upgraded room “with a view” but there’s NO view at all from this room (I can share a pic). Staff was awesome!

Excellent experience. Love the place

Amazing experience from start to finish.. went for my daughters first birthday. They surprised her with balloons and decor in her room, then followed up with a celebratory bottle of bubbly delivered to the room (for the parents of course) cannot praise the staff there enough , they went above and beyond for our every need and we had a fantastic trip. Our daughter also loved the crèche for half a day with the wonderful girls there who took amazing care of her. Breakfast was tasty and a huge variety! Bedrooms were very nice and spacious and we had the cheapest room so can only imagine how nice the others are. Overall fab , thanks so much guys.

The staff were very nice and friendly. The buffet breakfast was great and various of almost everything. The shower was great. The Spa was very nice, but you got 1 hour per day, i would have love to spend more time in the spa Our room AC was not working. Otherwise, i would give 5 stars.

Le cadre est magnifique. la structure est top. Le hic est leur machinerie de ventilation sur toiture. on l'entend énormément dans les chambres. Dommage. du coup on nous a changé de chambre face à la mer à une chambre vue piscine vue sur un pan de mur. Mais autrement le service était top. Petit déjeuner incroyable gargantuesque. Le diner à l'hôtel était vraiment top. Les jardins magnifiques à deux pas de la plage. Je me réjouis de le refaire en été.

This is an amazing hotel in a lovely location that we have been visiting twice a year for the past 10 years and we will keep going back. It’s luxury in Vilamoura.

Overall we were relatively happy with our stay, but at £820 a night (for the Sapphire Family Retreat) I expected so much more. The listing on Expedia & hotel’s website do not indicate that the family retreat is essentially two hotel rooms with interconnecting doors - not sure these interconnecting doors are worth paying more for. We had a member of staff confess this is a complaint the hotel has heard before. During our stay, we celebrated my mum’s 70th birthday. We mentioned this in the notes when we made the reservation, and reception confirmed they were aware of this at check-in and that they would organise a nice surprise for her. On the day of her birthday, it got to 6.30pm before I decided to go down and speak to guest relations (GR) about where her ‘surprise’ was, as we hadn’t planned a cake (given the hotel said they would provide this). GR apologised for the delay and said there was an event happening that evening at one of the restaurants that everyone had been focused on. When the cake did arrive, it was a standard chocolate cake - no writing on the plate etc. Very underwhelming. My brother asked GR if there was anything they could do to help him plan his proposal. One of the GR women told him he was “giving her a headache” which I thought was quite rude. Food selection at breakfast and dinner was great, but food itself was super bland. Haute Living lounge snacks were the same. Rooms were lovely, as were the pools & lake.

Stunning DOMES resort

Another stunning DOMES resort, this time in Vilamoura at the Southern Portugal coast – roughly 30min from the Faro airport (FAO). Like the other Domes resorts we had previously visited in Crete and Corfu, the setup was perfect for a relaxing extravagance vacation. As always, a wonderful scent welcomed us at the entry of this modern and luxurious temple. Sandra, the guest relations manager, and her trainee were super charming in helping us settle and bridge time in the haute living lounge until our splendid suite was ready and a minor water issue fixed. The wait was sure worth it: Very spacious, balcony with breathtaking view of the ocean and the “sweet water sand beach” pool - offering the bonus of a free spectacle of watching invisible patrons securing beach chairs in the early mornings without using them. The resort perimeter is fairly wide and great for a postprandial digestion walk. The actual beach is at a short walking distance, past the supreme Sora restaurant. Apart from Topos with its neo-Greek cuisine and the Sora Beach restaurant with more Portuguese seafood, the culinary onsite options of the resort were again a major contributor to comfort and happiness with broad selections of menu items in various buffet sections – both for breakfast and for dinner. Maybe a touch less sophisticated than the Greek Domes resorts, there was a wide array of delicious and fresh dishes that made a perfect meal in a beautiful atmosphere. We’ve just come back from an excellent stay at this hotel. The experience was excellent from the start, fizz, chocolates & flowers for our anniversary. The food was lovely and catered for gluten and lactose intolerance. The room was spacious & well appointed, with great toiletries. Things that take this hotel to the next level are the beautiful lake, great gym, outdoor gym and tennis courts. Easily walkable to the marina too. An excellent holiday and we will visit again.

The resort is amazing. Great location, great food, amenities and unbelievably talented staff from the parking attendants, front desk and guest relations people, to the restaurant, pool and spa workers. Everyone went above and beyond to assure an exceptional experience.

Excellent hotel, a true, high end, 5 Star! From the staff, to facilities and service, couldn’t find a flaw. If you’re looking for a complete chill out hotel and to be waited on hand a foot, the Domes Lake is the place.

Incredible stay! The hotel, the staff, the rooms, the pool, the service, the location... 5* doesn't do it justice!

Hotel was nice but area it’s located in is run down and full of stag and hen dos, for €350 a night you expect a little more and the hotel is stupidly expensive, paid nearly €100 for two burgers with fries, essentially poorly squeezed together mince meat on a stale bun. I’d avoid and look at their Crete hotels.

This is a beautiful property that was ideal for my family (2 yr old boy). From being met by the porters to personally escorted to breakfast by the receptionist, this hotel excels in looking after its guests. We loved the heated outdoor pool and the crèche that we availed of several times. The only downside was the price of the drinks. €8 for a glass of wine should not be the cheapest option especially as it’s local wine. We would have spent more time in the hotel bar but the drinks were just too expensive. We also heard this complaint from several other people. It’s a shame as it’s enough to make us try a different property next time.
