The room was actually better than the photos. It was spacious and clean. The hotel has easy access to public transport.
Reasonably priced good hotel in Glasgow's West End
It is a simple hotel and has everything you need to stay for a couple nights. No complaints from me.
I objected strongly to having my license copied
Hotel ok, but will never stay there again. For the first time ever in a uk hotel when I checked in was told that photo ID compulsory. It was photocopied and put on a shelf behind reception with copies of other people’s driving licenses etc. A bonanza for anyone wanting to do identity theft and an unnecessary invasion of privacy. I had paid in advance but then they didn’t just take a credit card number but presented me with a card machine so that they could reserve £100. Spoke to a couple at breakfast who had trouble finding ID when checking in and we agreed that we wouldn’t stay there again
Weekend break
Very convenient location for Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the Hunterian Art Gallery. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Although the room had been refurbished recently it was in need of some repairs. Little details like the plug sockets being too close to the desk so you could hardly plug anything in, and no servicing of room on second day, were minor issues but could have made the review 4 stars instead of 3! Would have spoken to receptionist on departure but no one was around unfortunately.
We booked this hotel for its proximity to the university and byres road. The check in was quick and easy, the room is large and the staff are friendly.
The rooms were newly renovated I got a free upgrade because my heat went out. Staff was great and very accommodating
Too many air fresheners creating allergic reaction
On arrival all seemed well. They were improving parts of the hotel so a little upheaval is expected. I don’t have a great sense of smell but a strange smell hit me in all areas and my room smelt stale. They had automatic air fresheners around the hotel like you find in bathrooms. These were overpowering but for me they were detrimental, I’m allergic to aerosols and I went into a coughing fit. I informed reception asking if they could disable the one near my room but this was not done. At 0230 I was woken by inconsiderate guests then again at 0400 by my upstairs neighbours. At 0800 I was then woken by a knocking which turned out to be the radiator in my room. I presume that it might need bleeding. All of this was passed to the team. If I had stayed at premier Inn, I would have been offered a full refund at a minimum but they only took a note of my comments. Needless to say I can’t stay there again based on the air fresheners but if you use this many air fresheners then there is a much bigger problem.
Staff were great, location very convenient. Parking was easy to find.
Work in progress
Ok did not realise hotel had changed hands Was undergoing lot of refurbishment
Nice hotel in walking distance to the OVO. Lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby.
We didn’t get the full experience as the property was being renovated, so it was loud and no amenities. The day member of staff was so helpful and polite. Lovely area as we were looking at Glasgow uni.
My only grumble would be the heat of the room which i personally found to be too hot whilst trying to sleep.
Easy to get around and a lot of shops close by
The staff were nice, guy working at the reception at night was SO helpful. Unfortunately the facilities make this hotel quite awful. Room was absolutely sweltering, no idea how to turn the radiator off. The bathroom stank of cigarette smoke, so maybe coming through the vents. The pillows were super hard and uncomfortable. Massive gap under the door made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.
Generally happy with everything. Was pleased I was able to put my bag in before check in. Near the OVO stadium and local amenities. Staff pleasant and not imposing. Only disappointment was the toilet flush not working properly. A sorry state for a Toastie in the restaurant but edible. The price not worth it. A disappointing menu. That declared most things you can have if available. That is very negative to read. Other than that thank you for the stay.
The beds are very comfortable
Brillant stay for the price paid - large clean double room with small shower room. Tv, tea coffee facilities and great selection for breakfast that was included in the rate. Very comfortable 1 night stay and bus stop right outside to travel back to central station
The hotel was fine for one night. Great area. A little dingy.
Staff are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable re local facilities. Would definitely stay again.
The staff are fantastic
Great prices and service
Great location. Friendly staff and a safe clean room.
I enjoyed the night here. A word of notice if you get a room on floor -1, make sure the windows are locked. Both windows were open when i checked in. I did feel a little bad for the guy working overnight as he was manning the reception, bar, and kitchen, alone. It was good as busses were ready to catch from the train station.
Awful hotel
Had booked an paid for the room then was told there was no room. Hotel staff then threw family out in the rain.
Great front desk staff!
Very friendly staff
The staff were lovely and the rooms were nice. Breakfast was also really nice and timed well (7am - 10am). However, there were things in the room that didn't work (bulbs, shower didn't drain etc) that would have made the stay perfect. Also, we were not notified that the car park was out of action so we had to spend extra on private car parking as local street parking is £1 per 15 minutes and max stay 3 hours.
First class hotel
Nice tidy room. Spotless shower room. Ample choice at breakfast and friendly staff.
Trip for the ovo
Good hotel in great location - nice room and good menu in restaurant
Excellent customer service, especially Lorraine at reception!
Definitely won't stay there again
To bathroom floor With dirt Went downstairs to the bar restaurant and there was dog hair all over the seating Move to another seat I've decided not to eat in their restaurant during the night the room above us floorboards were creaking and noisy could hear next doors TV distractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy
Stayed in this hotel for the British Open in Troon. The facility was older, but nice. It is close to the University of Glasgow and museums. It was a 10 minute walk to the Metro to get around Glasgow and near some very cute quaint restaurants within walking distance. No air conditioning which is normal in that area, which was a surprise, but with windows up it was fine. July 2024
Really friendly staff
Good place to stay
The hotel was good, very clean, helpful and friendly staff, on-site restaurant was delicious. Parking not so great
Rooms extremely small Noisy area Parking limited to 10-12 cars Expensive parking on the street
Best Western Sauchihall Stree
Ideal hotel for access to Glasgow. Nice clean hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff lovely touch getting voucher for free.drink on arrival
Because of Expedia there were a few things not quite right potentially it’s because the hotel had changed to best western. For example I was told when I confirmed my booking with the hotel that breakfast wasn’t included even though I had booked a Continental. Hotel honoured this and I had an Hotel honoured this and I had a full English. I was also told there was no parking, however there is a car park, but it’s a first come first served and you need to be able to manoeuvre your car in tight spaces. The Hotel have made the decision to say there isn’t any. The staff were really lovely, all very smiley and asking how your stay was. We were heading to a gig at the Hydro and it was perfect walking distance for there. Hotel offered complementary drinks in the bar, where also did food, but unfortunately we reserved elsewhere prior to arrival. I’d come back again.
This hotel is transitioning, I believe, from being independently owned to being a Best Western. The transition is incomplete. The service was very good and courteous, but the halls are dark, and the room I had was a little cramped. The bathroom was perfectly fine in my opinion, but some travellers might find it dated. My television didn't work properly; I gave up rather than asking for help as it wasn't that important to me. There is a free parking lot in the back, which is great, because street parking in Glasgow is exorbitant! But you have to drive down a narrow unpaved alley to get to it. The hotel is near the university, which is nice. On the other hand, you can walk to the downtown, but it will take you twenty minutes or more. All things considered, I was satisfied, despite some blemishes.
It was great!
Great location, great service friendly staff
Room was fine. Bathroom was spotless. Shower did not produce fine jets. Food was fine. Coffee not great. Had expected a room refresh with a two night stay but room was untouched.
Good hotel, great location
Stayed here a few times when it was Devoncove but addition of restaurant has made it even better. We ate there for convenience but it was really good value and quality. Pakora and lamb curry were excellent. Perfect base in Finnieston for lovely bars and cafés and easy walking distance for the SEC/Hydro
Lovely and comfortable room. Lots of space, comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet Coffe and tea available in the room Friendly staff
Great stay
Absolutely fantastic hotel. Always stayed in ones in the area but never this one. Did a few weeks ago and well exceeded my expectations. Reception is great with the bar etc and the rooms are a great size and bed super comfy. Shower is nice and powerful too. I really wouldn’t hesitate staying here again and after my most recent stay it might now become my first choice for places in Glasgow
Heart of Glasgow
Smooth and easy check in. Room was clean, comfortable and warm.
Budget friendly
Beds aren’t that comfortable. Old tired mattresses. A lot of road noise from front facing rooms. Quality of the breakfast is poor, eggs and sausages were tasteless. Price and location are very good. Is what it is.
Overall good. Location fantastic. Very good continental breakfast. Room good however stayed two nights & no maid service.
Good service from everyone at the reception
Ok for two nights.
Staff are pretty friendly and let me leave my bags behind reception until I returned in the evening. I thought I had breakfast included however was charged £15 for a very mediocre breakfast. Food wasn’t hot. Walls are paper thin. Couldn’t sleep well because of drunk guests next door making Noise.
Friendly staff.
They do have a full service restaurant, and I'm sure room service. Spido {sp} as morning maitre d' is very pleasant and accommodating. However mgmt decision to put signs in rooms, indicating a £30 fine for bringing food into the room, seems counter productive to hospitality, and of letting the guests nest.
Not a lot of parking
Friendly service. Clean and good location
Take That
Staff very friendly and efficient. My review loses stars due to 1. Lumpy, bumpy, saggy mattress long past its sell by date 2. Bath not entirely clean on arrival 3. Lighting not good in room or bathroom for doing make up 4. Bar closed on arrival back at hotel after an evening out - 11:04pm
Parking was pretty dire and the surrounding area was questionable. Although public transport wise there was easy access to town but I had a disabled child so no use that way. Not allowed even the basics into your room food wise but menu in restraint was very limited. The deposit was a bit ridiculous considering the room wasn’t immaculate and the bathroom wasn’t in great condition. Was nice enough, staff are so lovely but overall not worth the money. Iv had cheaper hotels with more guest friendly pleasant and relaxed accommodation
Devoncove hotel stay
The hotel was fine, the room clean and tidy! The reception staff said we had room only; but the system they used was not up to date, however, continental breakfast was correct. Had to report very noisy room next door (up to 1am), the breakfast staff were a little disorganised re: table settings etc. overall the stay was pleasant would use them again!
Good value.Ideal for OVO
Busy hotel. Greeted on arrival with Prosecco. Checked in quickly. Clean comfortable room. Good continental breakfast . Value for money
Not so good
Room was clean and nice bed was relatively comfortable and nice bathroom however that's where it kind of ends we had dinner in the hotel on the first night before going to see a show and my meat was so overcooked that it was burnt as well as vegetables being rock hard my partners curry was so oily that her ibs had flared up as well causing ourselves to have a sore stomach due to food this hindered our concert on Friday in which we paid a lot of money to go to as had to leave early due to feeling unwell also to anyone staying there is a £30 charge if you bring any beverage or food from outside in to your hotel room we have stayed in many hotels and were baffled when reading this all in all I can't fault the room cleanliness and comfort but as a hotel I would definitely avoid we made a complaint when we arrived back to the night shift and was shrugged off definitely better Hotels in the area final note hotel neighbours within hotel are incredibly noisy which was also complained to night-shift
Average property
The property was perfect for us attending the OVO for a concert about 12 mins walk plenty of bars nearby however the food was also good in the hotel. No complaints
If it’s a sell out of hotels in Glasgow then chanc
I have completed my google review . Not happy at all . From check in to freezing in the night as no heating on. No one cared . They Tried cancelling my booking ( prepaid ) as no photo ID .. I’m English . !! Took my credit card an £100 taken off which is fine as no it will be returned but telling me they are taking a pic of my credit card front and back otherwise I couldn’t be checked in ! Breakfast was cheap bread no service .hotel bar closed at 10.30 told to go To local pub ! The hotel could have benefited from a sold out hotel that weekend
Good hotel
Lovely location and easy to walk to food and drinks Small carpark but free which is great Rooms really compact but clean but noisy floorboards and hard pillows
Hyrox stay over
Welcoming staff, expected it to be freezing based on previous reviews, but no problem on the 2nd floor! Good location, plenty of eateries and the SEC is nearby. Quiet on the evening within the hotel, some noisy students outside between 03:00-03:30.
Great hotel handy for town
We enjoyed our stay very much. Spotlessly clean room, receptionist was lovely very helpful, not a complaint but breakfast was a bit of a footer as it was served in the bar area but all the cereals cutlery and tea machine were not in one place. Other than that great we will be back as it is so handy for the city centre bus just outside.
Freezing
The room was really dated and really cold. We checked out a day early because it made us feel ill from being so cold
Friendly staff comfortable room
My stay in Glasgow
The room was clean tidy and roomy
Very nice hotel, great location for the Hydro. Room a bit chilly when they turn the heating off.....
Nice clean and comfortable stay.. It was central for what we required ..
very costs effective hotel and great location - parking was restritced which was an issue and the rooms despite being very clean were very dark - staff were excellent
The only fault i could find was the small car park, but loads of parking around the hotel.
food is delicious
Absolutely lovely hotel and staff were great.
Never Stay
You have to pay £100 deposit just in case you trash the already trashed room! They also demand a copy of your passport- breakfast is the worse experience I have ever sat through! Please let me save you the pain! Awful hotel.
Glasgow weekend
Great location with parking. Hotel team very good
Bed in the room with old spring mattress. Very uncomfortable and noisy. Hotel put £100 hold on my credit card for any damage. Had to inspect room like hawk, found a hot iron imprint on the carpet. Trip back to reception with a photo. Was told that they knew about it. Really do not need this. Do not recommend.
Bed for the night
Bed for the night!
The hotel was fine. We didn't go down for breakfast shop I don't know anything about the food. The worst thing was not having internet - not sure if it was just our room or everyone, but the signal was VERY weak and it cut out completely every couple of minutes. I finally went to a coffeeshop with wifi to get my business done.
Room was really good. Felt the Continental breakfast area was too congested but the breakfast choice was excellent. Only thing was no croissants 😞
Great Place
The place was comfortable. I really enjoyed it. It was unique to check in at the bar area. It was my personal opinion that there was a coziness to it. I do wish they had a traditional hot breakfast. I would stay here again. The area is safe and close to the campus. Definitely a lot to do in the area.
There was some construction that forced you to check in by the bar, but everything was straight forward and fast.
Car park nightmare
Not happy with the car park my van has quite a dent trying to get out of the car park ..to cramped Its not letting upload a photo on here
Clean and comfortable.
Hotel is ideally located, room & en-suite spotlessly clean, staff, Robin in particular, couldn’t be more helpful. Good menu, fairly priced in the restaurant First time for me, won’t be the last, well recommended
The staff didn’t seem very helpful and service was really slow nice hotel though clean enough
Great, newly renovated hotel. Very comfortable room all round. Very polite and helpful staff. Continental breakfast was very nice. Plenty if choice. Had a meal in their restaurant. Highly recommended. Food was top notch. 10 min wLk to the ov hydro. Thank you for a great stay all round.
A nice value in an outstanding location
We picked this hotel because it was at a reasonable price and a convenient location. The location is actually outstanding, with a huge park nearby, great public transportation, and lots of restaurants. Our room was very comfortable and well furnished. We found the staff to be very helpful. And we had some good meals at the restaurant for competitive prices. We particularly wanted a restaurant with traditional UK menu items. The Scottish salmon, fish and chips, and steak pie were all excellent.
The property was such amazing place the staff where so lovely and helpful made you feel so welcome
The hotel is half an hour walk from the railway stations but it is on the route of the Sightseeing Tour bus with hop on and off which made it all easy for transport and sightseeing.
Good location and quiet area
Mattress is very poor. Old and unstable. Had a terrible night’s sleep on it. The maintenance on the paneling looks like it’s been done by a 6 year old with playdough. The wall in the bathroom above the mirror needs serious attention.
Very nice staff working there. Polite and professional
Great location, staff very friendly and helpful, the restaurant was nice food excellent.
Good hotel
I use this place when coming to Glasgow for gigs or nights out
Great one night stay
Great hotel stay for a gig at the arena. Check in was nice and quick the room was spot on for one night away. It wasn't the nicest or the best we've stayed in, but clean enough and location was good. Plenty of places to eat around it and less than 15 mins walk to arena Unfortunately we couldn't get in the car park but we were able to park two streets away and it was free after 6pm. We ate in the restaurant joined on to the hotel, we had two lovely meals and having the discount because we were hotel guests was a bonus. Breakfast the next morning was continental with enough options to satisfy most ppl. Croissants, fruit, youghurt, cereals etc. We would definitely stay here again if going to another gig
Perfect night away
Everything about this hotel was perfect the staff, continental breakfast, the room it was all good excellent value for money even had parking
No heating/hotwater.
Room was ok but the lower ground floor was freezing cold, the room was freezing cold/had no heating. No hot water either. Bed and room was clean and comfortable. However it Should have been a lot warmer especially considering the weather/time of year. I wont be staying at the devoncove hotel again due to this.
Great location for pubs, restaurants and museums. Small free car park to the rear. Room was good size and clean. Bit of noise from room next door but nothing too bad. Staff were friendly and continental breakfast had a large selection

Poor guest relations. The hotel fire alarm went off at least 7 times between 1am and 6am on the Saturday night, set off in the basement area and not by customers of the hotel. When I complained that I had not slept it was not taken seriously. Another customer stood behind me in the line at reception also had the same problem and like me his complaint was not taken seriously either.
