The staff were excellent. Especially the woman serving breakfasts.

The owner and the staff were very kind, the food was delicious and the location which is close to the pirámides is a plus together with the view from the terrace . Recommended!

The owner is an incredibly kind man who will go out of his way to look after you if you get into any sort of situations in Egypt as a foreigner, which I found hugely reassuring. My only disappointment was the prices for amenities at the hotel. $275 NZD for a one hour massage for example. And the cost of food is very high; charging Fairmont prices while located in a nondescript location/very basic building. Also very difficult to obtain and sort of invoice for the charges. Other than this, I would absolutely recommend.

The staff were always pleasant and helpful, especiallyHani who went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable stay. The area around the hotel is very dirty with limited things to see or do. The restaurant at the hotel is way over-priced and the breakfast is mostly the same, limited selection. The value for what you are paying for, is just not in line with what you are getting unfortunately. You receive a beautiful view of the pyramids from the rooftop (or some bedrooms), with an amazing night ambiance. Overall, the place was comfortable and I would do another short stay again.

I encourage everyone to read my honest review: I've traveled to a few places around the world and I've been in many different hotels. If you come to Egypt expecting emaculate massive rooms with perfect streets and nightlife surrounding you, that is not the real Egypt. The reality is that Egypt is far from perfect. You must remember, this isn't the place that has all the luxuries that most of you likely have at home. But the people you meet and interact with and the things you see both tourist attractions and not is what makes you truly appreciate Egypt. With that, I'd like to bring my attention to Dr. Mohammed. He has a degree in Egyptology and is the owner of Desert Moon, along with his wife whom we unfortunately did not get to meet. From the moment we arrived at like 9a, he personally greeted us and apologized for the confusion around the cab driver. He immediately welcomed us to some breakfast and told me he wants to make our trip memorable. He is a very spiritual and loving man. He shared a wonderful story of love between him and his wife and explains how their goal is to share their love with each and every guest that arrives. He listened to everything we were interested in doing and made sure we hit every one of those points. He is very reasonable when it comes to prices and you can tell he wants you to truly experience the most of Egypt without feeling like you're spending far more than you need to.

Amazing property, they staff were super attentive, and made sure my birthday vacation went off w/o any hick-ups! :)

Disappointing

My new wife and I booked to stay at Desert Moon months ago for our honeymoon. It was advertised to us as a great location for quiet as it is away from the city but soon realised it was safer to be in downtown Cairo where transport & services are easily accessible. Just before arriving we noticed the reviews on Google had deteriorated since we initially booked. As we got there, the scenery got progressively worse (pyramids however still in view). The location made us both feel unsafe. Following this there was nobody to welcome us upon arrival. Luckily we had a helpful driver with us who assisted us find someone to let us in but even so with a questionable elevator. We were eventually shown our room and sadly it had a horrible stench and cleanliness was below acceptable so we checked straight out. It’s a shame as the 2 young guys who worked at the hotel were lovely and trying their best to be accommodating.

Property is on a sand road. Very old building. The power come and goes and it takes hours. Only 1 person on duty. Very loud place and cleanliness was horrible. Dusty floors and mold on tires on the shower.

Room with a view and little else

The only redeeming feature is the roof where there is a great view of the pyramids. The roads around are unpaved and rough and i wouldn't walk out at night (or day). This meant a taxi and Mohammed organized everything at a price. It also meant eating at their restaurant on the roof. Food was poor and greatly overpriced. Surprizingly the breakfast was good. Room was clean but the shower struggled to work at times and the mattress was a thin foam attempt at a mattress which gave me backache. All in all not the best of places to stay.

Avoid this hotel! Very disappointing stay. Inconvenient location, rooftop overlooks a noisy highway so it doesn’t feel relaxing. The worst part of my experience was my room - it wasn’t cleaned from the previous guest. I left the property about 2 hours after checking in.

Friendly staff and really helpful

People are nice, facility need improvements, bed uncomfortable, room very small, dirty surrounding area, breakfast very limited items.

I have been coming back for years!

The rooms each have a unique feel. The food is delicious and each tour we did was amazing. Desert Moon is one of the best choices for a great Cairo vacation. They handle every detail so that we may enjoy the adventure!

It’s a very bad experience to include this property with Expedia I checked out because not safe and dirty bed and stuff and asked Expedia to refund my money but didn’t replay to my claim since 10 days

The staff of the properly are very nice and friendly. Because I don’t know Arabic it was hard to communicate but still they were very helpful. The hotel arranged me a very good private driver and tour guide. They were more like friends than just a tour guide. The tours are not cheap, I am from Canada so they were quite expensive, but I think it’s worth the money because they take good care of you taking you around. Otherwise for people who live in counties like Canada or America it might get very hard and overwhelming to navigate in Egypt because the culture and system is just sooo different. Overall I really enjoyed my time with my tour guide and the driver who made me feel very comfortable

I loved dessert moon. The staff and the owner made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. I was thousands of miles away from my home but they made me feel at home. They went above and beyond to make my stay the best and I will forever love dessert moon and the staff that work here.

Not as Advertised

Host is amazing and very knowledgeable. He and his wife are both good people trying to be successful which is very inspiring. However, staying in Giza isn’t often what you expect. Not clean, streets full of trash everywhere, funky smell and dark at night. Our room was ok but not the one I chose and bathroom was really small. Despite how nice pyramids view is, I recommend staying in a nicer hotel in Cairo, not Giza itself.

Stayed two nights great view of pyramids from my room & roof top super value for money.

The Desert Moon was more like a hostel than a boutique hotel. The staff was very responsive via email during the planning stage of our trip so I had no idea that when we reach the hotel there would be no front desk service or telephone in the room. They offered us car service from the airport and driver was friendly and accommodating. When we pulled up in from of the building I had a bad feeling that we were walking into a nightmare. First thing, the building is in a neighborhood that appears to be in the middle of a war zone. Second, when we enter there was no front desk or receptionist to greet you. Then the elevator is only big enough to fit one person plus a few bags plus there is no door to the elevator so you see the bare wall. When we reach the room it was nothing like the pictures. I guess I underestimated the measurements they listed on the internet as I thought it was bigger. The noise from the cars along the highway was intolerable and the room stinks. We arrived at around 1:30am and immediately booked another hotel to leave in a few hours. The only positive highlight of this hotel is views of the pyramid when you wake up in the morning. On the day that we were leaving there was no one to speak but the guys in the breakfast area who called someone on the phone to tell them we were leaving. I sent an email and no one has responded about my refunded or even to ask why I left.

The staff is very, very friendly and helpful. The view on the top of the roof is magnificent. Not far from Necropolis!

Good location, new furnishings, balcony door has a screen (very useful against flys), good staff and management, safe and secure , good breakfast. Clean rooms. Highly recommend

Nice stay

Great service from both the staff and owners. You get a great view of the pyramids from day to night. It’s the perfect location to escape to the desert or explore things outside of the city.

The view is remarkable. The staff are helpful and inviting. Dr. Mohamed is very knowledgeable and personally ensures that each guest feels welcome.

This was an easy and good hotel to pop into and then be on my journey the next morning

I would like a refund. The Taxi driver couldn't find it. According to the address, it was in a bad part of town. I had to go clear to the other side of Cairo just to feel safe and had to waste $140 on a new hotel. Does DesertMoon even exist? Nobodys even heard of it. We asked several locals

There is a harmony in the air at Desert Moon with such a vibrant rooftop view of the Pyramids outstretching past the desert floor. The hospitality and aesthetic details of the hotel help keep the tourist refreshed and renewed after time wandering the chaotic and bustling streets of Cairo.

I liked everything! Mohammed and Bergeta treated me like family. They helped me sort out a surprise passport problem and were just all around wonderful and helpful.

hotel owner was very much available everyday. helped me set up many of the trips I took during my vacation. very knowledgeable . was able to get me to the places I wanted to visit and made many good suggestions of other places he thought I should also see. he made the trip 100% better than I originally thought it would be.

Owners Dr Mohammed and his wife bogeta were the perfect hosts. Anything you needed they would make happen.he is also a very knowledgeable egyptologist and gave and arrainged wonderful tours.made my stay wonderful

We had a really nice stay at Desert Moon. The view of the desert and pyramids from the rooftop terrace was unique and the welcoming very friendly and hospitable. The room was clean and with good amenities. I would certainly advise people to stay here much more than in an international chain hotel! 👌👌

Beautiful rooftop and the view! The room and bathroom were clean with beautiful details. Don't let the outside area fool you. It is a great area.

We enjoyed their lovely hospitality, the staff was excellent and the room was very clean and comfortable. They were happy to accommodate all our requests. The view from the rooftop restaurant is amazing to see the pyramids. We also did a tour with Dr Mohamed, the owner of the hotel. It was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable and took us to all the best sites. Highly recommended.

The place is fabulous, super clean, and you can not find a newer fresh hotel in Cairo than this amplitude. The furniture is new, the doors, the bath, the curtain. The design of the windows and balcony is western wooden design such wide and air-opened shining the room and salon with sun lights and hover breezes. The hosting place is cozy. The owner is comforting, friendly, humor, welcoming and highly educated professor. The social talk with the anthropology professor makes you delighted about the great opportunity inspiring listeners about the treasure of the humanity while watching the astonishing pyramids from a close distance and best view angle. Come and see and speak for yourself. I consider your support to my comment as an appreciation if you agree to what Ii described. I won't ruin your visit by sharing the source of the science and historical relativity of the miracle of the Egyptians on the pyramids and pharaoh era. I learned amazing, so sensual and rational interpretations from the professor. The staff are cheerful and dedicated on their services profession. They are helpful on getting items from the story and laundry handing the bills to you. The free breakfast can be provided even after mid day for guests.

No lo recomiendo

No existe un área del recepción de huéspedes (según por la pandemia), tuve que subir 5 pisos con la maleta por las escaleras porque solo los huéspedes pueden usar el elevador, no tiene indicaciones de dónde pu des hacer el check in. Además me hicieron pagar de nuevo en el lugar cuando yo ya había pagado directo con ustedes. No me sentía cómoda en el lugar
