Room was fine; safety bars in the shower would be a nice addition. Location was excellent especially for Ribeira and Gaia. Breakfast was good. All the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. They loved their city and really wanted us to enjoy it. Restaurant recommendations were excellent. The receptionist who greeted us on arrival was particularly helpful and made us feel so welcome.
Modern decor. Lovely breakfast room and food options. Very friendly and accommodating staff
The hotel is great. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is ideal except it is noisy outside. If you are a light sleeper, make sure you enquire about a quieter room.
Location is great
Short city break to Porto
This hotel was ideally situated right on the river in the centre of the city. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, spacious and reasonably priced. Definitely would book again.
The staff member who greeted me was amazing and gave me a perfect Porto itinerary as well as friendly greetings daily! All staff was friendly but he made the stay memorable for me! Property is lovely and breakfast makes a nice plus. Can get loud at night … bring ear plugs if you sleep early
Great location to everything except no parking near
I like its location the best. The rooms are dark and need to be spruced up. The staff need training to be more aware of customer needs and to listen to their requests.
geat location , nice size room , staff very friendly and helpful.it was just a little noisy in the morning could hear people in street in my room
Very hip and in a great location
Great position. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast & excellent room
Nice location. Great reception staff. Difficult access - we’re not able to get dropped off and had to walk 1.5 blocks with the luggage.
Location is great and rooms are decent, however we got a very loud room, on an alley and above a restaurant where there’s live music on weekends. Needless to say that we couldn’t sleep. The staff said that there’s nothing they could do since the hotel is full. In addition, over the 4 days we stayed there the WiFi was either not working or very slow. When we asked the staff about it, they said it was fine.
Friendly hotel in centre of historic riverfront ar
Good location very close to the square on the riverfront of the old town. Short distance to walk to many of tourist sights. About 10 mins wall from Bentoa station and metro (down or up the hill depending on to or from hotel). Pleasant room with good facilities and comfortable bed. Breakfast had quite a range of offerings. Reception staff helpful. We were on second floor at back and could hear noise (with windows shut) as nearby restaurants shut up but by 22.30 it was usually quiet and stayed that way until after 08.00 when we were up. I am a light sleeper but got 4 nights of pretty good sleep without probs.
The hotel was fabulous. The room , a superior double, was larger than expected. Decor refreshing, staff friendly and helpful in information.
Wi-Fi could be better. TV remote not working. Don’t like using paper cups to use for brushing teeth.
WiFi is always dropping off & TV remote control not working so couldn’t watch TV the entire stay. Should provide more than 2 paper cups in bathroom for brushing teeth because after 3 days the cups looses the shape.
Nice place with a great location. Breakfast is ok but could be better, the beds are a little old needs to be change. Overall is a great stay right in the heart of la Ribeira.
Quiet, good location
Would come again.
The reception staff is wonderful. Our only complaint is the bed was uncomfortable. Close to the Duoro River! If you have difficulty walking there are steep roads to walk down.
Porto
Hotel has a breakfast and the front desk staff is always helpful.
Right in the center of where you want to be. The river right out the door. Cafes, restaurants, shops right outside. Staff was very friendly. The included breakfast was excellent!!!
Amazing and nice place!!!!
Such a pretty little hotel. Around 18 rooms. Great shower, pretty room, nice breakfast. Located a block from the waterfront. I would have liked one more pillow. And the wi-fi is not really good. Would recommend.
A very convenient location to all activities on the river. Lots of exciting dining experiences available.
A gem
Excellent comfort and service. The location was also excellent in the heart of Ribeira. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant beyond a good breakfast there are plenty of restaurants within a 3 to 5 minute walk, Be warned, however, that the good ones need prior booking! Altogether an excellent stay.
The location was wonderful, the vibrant Ribeira area with so many restaurants along the river. The restaurant Postigo do Carvao, was recommended by the hotel, a couple of doors away from hotel, so glad we went. We had a delicious authentic Portuguese meal, service was wonderful too. A nice small boutique hotel, breakfast was lovely too.
It’s nice location and clean room. Breakfast was included. I’m not sure about what’s included for VIP access.
Excellent.. had it all!
Excellent boutique hotel, right in the heart of the action! Loved our room 403. Very spacious and cozy. Loved the bathroom and shower! 2nd night we heard seguels alot but it was not the fault of the hotels. Had breakfast included an had a great spread. It was not continental. We had an early flight and they provided a box lunch for us since we were not able to take advantage of the buffet breakfast. I would definerly stay here again.
Perfect location for the price. Staff was very helpful and kind. The only issue we had was that our room was on the first floor and on the back side of the building. The kitchen staff in the restaurants behind the hotel were very loud at night. Its not the hotels fault, but its a negatice that i doubt the hotel can do much about.
Nice hotel in Porto
Great location. Near the river but on a quiet street. Comfortable room. Good breakfast.
.
Nice hotel, great staff. Hard for taxi access but perseverance paid off.
Very central
Great location near the river
This hotel should provide a disclaimer or alert guests that the A/C will not be functional or find another alternative. Better maintenance should be in place so the guests will have a comfortable experience. We were placed on the top floor where the A/C was not working. This was in May, I cannot imagine if it was during the summer months. Due to the heat and lack of air circulation, the washroom smell leaked into the room - where the head of the bed is facing. There is a window you can open but due to large amount of birds and other animals, we did not want to take the gamble that they may enter the hotel room.
Don’t recommend at all!
Location isn’t very convenient, noisy and staff is very poorly trained!
Descobertas was a perfect hotel for our stay in Porto. It was so close to everything! The included breakfast was a great bonus and they kept everything very clean. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
I must say it is a wonderful hotel in a great location if you want to be in the middle of it all. Down side is there’s an incline to get in and out of it. Transportation vehicles cannot transit in front of it. Only in the early morning hours. But overall, I would definitely go back.
Location is fantastic. Right in the heart of Ribeira. Everything is walkable. With that said, wife had trouble sleeping because of how loud it was outside. Other than that, clean, safe, and convenient. We’re the type that spends no time in the room outside of showers and sleeping. This served that purpose— for me, anyway.
Great service. The room was comfortable and spacious! We travelled with a baby and they have everything prepared for her.
Porto break
Great stay in Porto in an excellent location in the heart of the old town. Spacious room with plenty amenities.
First things first, this hotel is great! It is in a wonderful location, right by the river side. Lots of restaurants, etc. very close by. You can walk up into the city and be to lots of the historic sites within 15 minutes. Room is modern and clean. They do not offer bathrobes or slippers as every other hotel in this category did on our visit. Breakfast buffet is adequate, but with minimal offerings. Of the six hotels during our stay, this was the simplest breakfast. HOWEVER, PARKING is a disaster. Usually hotels if they do not have on-site parking will have some type of arrangement with a local parking lot. This hotel does not. Which means we had to park two blocks away. We got onto the website of that parking, garage, and it calculated €27 a day to park, check out 3 days later, the rate was actually €60 a day. So we spent almost $200 just in parking. Very frustrating. Also, in order to get to the hotel, you must walk down cobblestone street and into the block to get to the front door. So this also means when you check out and leave, you must pull your luggage and bags uphill on a cobblestone street. The description of this hotel on Expedia needs to be much more clear – elderly people, or people with a lot of luggage would have a problem getting to the hotel. And it really needs to be explained that parking can be very expensive and that they do not have a contract with any local. if we had known this, we could've made other arrangements as far as a rental car.
Average..
Location is good for Ribeira.. but uphill walking for downtown. Severe continuous big-fan noise all day coming from restaurants nearby which was disturbing my sleep : my room was back side of building. Breakfast hall is quite small and foods are not very various or hot enough.
Excelente, súper confortable and amazing staff
Very quiet hotel, just a stone’s throw away from the Iconic bridge (20seconds to the river.) We loved the intimacy of the hotel, it’s calm vibe and attentive staff. Our room was very spacious, the beds very comfortable and the toiletries great. It was a perfect location for everything we wanted to do in Porto. Just perfect.
Whoever remodeled this hotel has extremely good taste. I congratulate the owner or owners
Great location.
Uniquely and well designed small boutique hotel near all the action. Staff was excellent as was the breakfast, and had everything we needed. A comfortable, affordable and enjoyable stay down by the river.
The hotel was right in the middle of places you would want to visit. The staff was exceptional
Cool vibe in a great location. It is a block off of the river (no view) and half block off of Praca Ribeira. Lots of eating/drinking and street entertainment within steps.
Two beautiful receptionists in the check-in counter are very friendly and helpful. Good recommendations of restaurants. Breakfast included benefits are good. Property decor is modern and chic.
Excellent place
Excellent place
I was pleased overall
Best location in Porto. Restaurants all around, just metres to the river, great atmosphere
Stephanie on the front desk was really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really nice. Restaurant next door was the nicest one that we ate in on our 5 day trip.
It is in a great location for being in the middle of the area of interest to tourists, and yet is quiet. The decorating is interesting, in a good way. The room was darker than I like, but that is probably unavoidable if getting a hotel in old Porto. Front desk and breakfast staff was helpful. Probably not a good place to stay if bringing a car- I don't know where you would park.
Very well located and fab staff
Amazing Hotel
Absolutely the best hotel and location in Porto. You can walk to everything. The night life is amazing yet the hotel is so quiet. Buffet in the morning had fresh food with a variety of fruits, pastries and protein choices. The glass of port wine awaits you in you room upon arrival. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Nice hotel in a great location
Nice hotel, comfortable room, friendly helpful staff. Great location. No views of the river but very, very close to the river.
Wonderful size room and bathroom. Liked the layout of the hotel. Location is excellent for main tourist attractions.
Very nice people all around!
Nice small hotel in good location. The rooms with windows into the backyard are very noisy when opening the window. There is staff from a restaurant downstairs and a ventilation system making a lot of noise all night long!
Loved the two glasses of wine and a plate of chocolate. Felt welcomed and special. Very thoughtful and sweet.
Location is good but really noisy. Difficult to sleep. The bed and pillows could be much better. I wouldn’t go back to this Hotel.
Perfect stay❤️
Perfect location and great hotel. We would come back.
Excellent location for visiting tourist sites. Friendly helpful staff. Will arrange transport to the airport.
Excellent location. Large modern room with nice sized shower.
Hotel was the perfect size, located within walking distance to the whole historic centre of Porto, was very clean, offered a lovely breakfast, and staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
Great location and a nice hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast had a good offering.
Ines on the front desk was outstanding. We arrive without our luggage and she did everything to help us, where to shop for some cloths. Calling to airport to follow up on our luggage claim, finding out where our River boat was docked and making our stay the best it could be without luggage. She is very good at her job.
A gem in a legacy setting.
Great location. Trendy high-end furnishings. Great breakfast. Friendly staff.
A lovely change from the factory hotel chains. Clean and quiet with a helpful staff. This is a small hotel but has everything you need for a pleasant stay in Porto.
Loved, loved, loved this little hotel in Porto! It was the perfect location for us as we wanted to stay down by the riverside. The breakfast buffet was very nice and the rooms were extremely spacious and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
Best location. This hotel is within 1/2 block from Ribeira Street next to the river. Everything that you would like to see is within walking distance from here. The Cathedral, Palace, Livraria Lello, Port Lodges, restaurants are all within a 10 minute walk. We parked in the parkade just across the Luiz I bridge which took us about 8 minutes to walk to. Breakfast was great and the staff were helpful.
Location is great, and the hotel is quiet — which is a surprise given its location. Staff was helpful scheduling Covid tests. Rooms we’re very comfortable.
Would recommend highly close to river cruise dock
Very impressed with decor and room layout. 2 minute walk to the river and restaurants but quiet. Taxis can’t drive right to it so expect to walk the last 500m or so. Lovely breakfast too but currently no bar service.
The receptionist is really kind and helpful and let me check in earlier. The location is perfect as well it’s close to everything and there’s a lot of food nearby. The room was nice and clean and met our expectations.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were attentive and very helpful. The rooms were cleaned to a very high standard. The hotel was well situated yet very quiet. The breakfast was plentiful with a lot of variety. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel as a great place to stay as it was understated yet excellent.
Great location, very comfortable. Guests should know ahrad of time that they will have to park in a public lot and walk their luggage as it is a small place in a prdestrian crowded area.
very friendly staff, good breakfast and FANTASTIC location.
Location of hotel was excellent. Some of staff were less than pleasant. We were on top floor (room 401) which has broken floor boards which were a trip hazard; door deadbolt lock did not work; being on top floor we had seagulls squawking all night long next to the roof window which we could not lock shut.
Rooms are great
We stayed on two separate nights. Both rooms were lovely, comfortable and modern. The first night we had a huge bathroom with great shower which was better than the family suite we had on the second night which had a much smaller shower although it was still modern and really nice
We enjoyed our stay very much. It is right on the riverside which means quick access to tons of dinning options and is very close to other busy streets for entertainment. Staff was very kind and helpful. Room was a dream and very clean. Breakfast was delicious. No complaints! Will definitely return!
An 18th birthday treat for my son taking I n Porto’s sights, great food and sports.
Boutique in the city
Great location boutique hotel with friendly staff and lovely rooms. Would stay here again if back in Porto.
The rooms in this hotel are very small, you can hardly walk around the bed, the only seat had torn up covers, the floor wood panels are broken. The place has not been maintained at all.
Great location. Room a little small
Stunning conversion of ancient building into super-elegant magazine-ready interior. Only downside: not very good for sitting either in bedroom or lobby. Style above comfort.
Best value for money hotel I have stayed in
Very conveniently situated for the river and all the eateries. The room was typically Porto, quirky but spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot and efficient. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Probably the best value for money hotel I have stayed in.
Perfect Location
Perfect location near river, restaurants, bridge and tours. Room large with great shower. Bed was firmer than we would have liked. Breakfast had nice selection including hot eggs, beans, mushrooms, sausages. Orange juice was fresh and delicious. Coffee from an espresso machine was good. Front desk staff helpful. Room was very clean. View was to interior court yard and into other rooms necessitating keeping shades closed. The interior lighting was somewhat dim. After 11 AM Uber could not drop off in front of hotel , closest was about a block away. When we return to Porto we would stay here again.
Perfect location
Great location and very pleasant hotel
To be fair, I did not stay at this property. I was not allowed into the country due to Covid since I am not a citizen per the Portuguese Government. My flight was cancelled in April and I have been attempting to get a refund or a credit since then. My flights as well as 4 other hotel stays and my car rental were refunded. This hotel? Zero!! Which is exactly what I am rating them. Shame on them and shame on Expedia for not doing the right thing. Both of them kept my money and I received nothing. Enjoy it, you won’t be seeing any of my dollars ever again. If you are reading this, I recommend you do the same. Go elsewhere and stay safe.
Lovely place, definitely boutique style. Hip and chick, friendly staff. Max
Fantastic value for money
Beautiful modern & comfortable rooms. The hotel is in a fantastic location close to the river. Great value for money
Birthday weekend.
Brilliant hotel, very friendly staff. Breakfast was perfect - though they will do a breakfast to your taste if you want to pay. The free one is quite a comprehensive buffet. Quiet hotel, except for the daily 0730 bin lorry so ask for a room at the back. One street back from the river, perfect location. Only improvement would be a bar - perhaps an honesty bar so that someone didnt have to serve. But somewhere to get a drink is always welcome. However, the mini bar in the room is reasonable and reception were happy to get ice. Wpuld stay here again in a heartbeat.
Drains were a bit smelly in the bathroom but otherwise a great hotel in a great location
Great location. Easy check in. Wonderful breakfasts
Unique entrance at area taxis cannot enter (but they can drop you at the top of the hill very near by). Breakfast was exceptional with all the choices. Room was quiet and clean. Beautiful tapestries and old shoes as decorations in our room. Nice corner cushioned nook to rest on. Two twin beds. Excellent place. Would return.
